Came to Play It Again Sports for the first time and was pleasantly surprised to see they buy used sports equipment and shoes. I looked into their website to get an idea of prices for my 5 year old's cleats. They have options for used and new, as low as $8! Very affordable. Upon arrival, their door was open. The inside is very spacious and right away we were greeted. I asked for help since it was our first time. The attendant immediately took us to a corner with all of the junior cleats. They had limited sizing, but thankfully my daughter found a good fit. They didn't have half sizes, but was assured a snug fit was necessary. We happened to get a new cleat and it was $20, much cheaper than Walmart (~$28). They didn't have junior mouth guards, but was recommended to Walmart. Overall, great customer service. The attendant helped her fit in the cleats and gave his professional opinion on how they should fit, etc. We were in and out within 10-15 min. They also have rewards, which I opted in. Also, I will most likely come back to sell back the shoes once she grows out of them. read more

I went here to look for some gym equipment. Straight weight bar and some weights to be exact. I walked in and right away there was someone to help me. I told him what I was there for and he said sure, let me show you what we have. Walked me over to the selection after some discussion, answering questions I had about my weight bench, size of my bench, the type of weight training I was going to do, he helped me get the right type and size bar. A 5 ft straight weight, non-threaded bar. He also helped me determine what weights to get. At that time I wasn't able to to get it so I asked if he could hold it for me. He said yes and held it for me. I was very happy because it was the only one they had and he did let me know that they go quick. I came later and picked it up, got some weights and had help taking it to my car. Real customer service is rare these days, but not at Play it Again Sports! Over the years raising three daughters, these guys supplied much of the equipment we needed for much less than new prices, and not once did we sacrifice quality. My daughters are all grown and on their own now, but I stopped in while on a long bike ride yesterday to ask about local bike trails. Even though I was not making a purchase, Tom and Jack were happy to help me find the information I was seeking, and even squared me up with a fresh refill in my water bottle. Just left Play it again sports where they wanted to charge me $5 less than the same glove cost new, and this particular glove is no longer being manufactured. The salesperson looked online and saw that the average price was cheaper than what it's listed for at their location. After seeing that he stated, I'm not matching some use store price. I made the point to asked, Isn't this a used store. He answered yes. Being reasonable, I gave him another chance to reconsider his price. He, I'm guessing the next guy Ali dealt with is the manager since the guy I was originally dealing deferred to this guy. He said I can go to those locations and buy as many gloves as I want at that price. His attitude suggest why his wall is full of gloves and other merchandise that paying customers have left in the store. Yes, COVID-19 has made things harder for them to keep great stock in personal fitness items. But, since so many people are staying at home more, they have a huge selection of team sports equipment. On 7/6/2013 I took my son in to purchase a football helmet for this coming YAFL season. The sales associate informed us that he was trained in appropriatly fitting helmets. He fit my son and we purchased one for $140 and were happily on our way. 7/24/2013 my son had to put on all of his equipment to prepare for the upcoming season, one of his coaches checked his helmet and informed my wife that my sons helmet was a little to big and needed to be corrected before any football contact. Today, 7/25/2013 my wife went back to the store to exchange the helmet for the correct size. The manager informed her he would give her $35 for this $140 helmet. I asked him to call me while i was at work. He called me and informed me that the helmet was now considered used and he could not sell it new so $35 was his offer. I informed him I didnt want an exchange just a helmet that fit correctly, that it was originally purchased due to his sales associates training and advisement that it fit correctly. The manager said he agreed the helmet was to big for my son that his sales associate would need better training, and that was his problem, but he was not going to give me an exchange on the obviously mis fitted helmet and that was my problem. So before you purchase anything from this RIP OFF STORE, make sure you dont listen to the employees and purchase knowing its money before service. Bought a snowboard and tried to bring it back an hour later as I had found a better deal at sports center. The guy at the desk was super rude, aggressive, and accusatory about no returns on snow equipment. I mean, I get it, but there's no need to be an absolute prick... Worse customer service I have ever encountered. John, "the owner" proceeded to insult me (I bought a used bike from him and when I had it looked over by a bike shop in town? they told me to bring it back.... This was 3 days after I bought it and noticed troubles......defective flywheel, bad hub on the front tire, clipped valves, bad breaks) I rode the bike up and down the side street before I bought it. I am an-hour-a-day-bicyclist. Buyer Beware! This guy is a pip and a trip! Without even looking at it or knowing which bike I was talking about John professed that it was a good bike and "didn't you think so when you bought it?" The salesman said they do not inspect the bikes before they resell them. John insisted they do. Lesson Learned- don't buy a bike from Play it Again Sports. Grateful for all the help when I stopped in today. I came in for a new set of dumbbells and I was greeted as soon as I walked in the store. I was carrying my daughter so one of the guys offered to help right away. Then another offered to take the dumbbells out to my car after I had checked out. Rip off business!!! Sell your gear at pawn shop where you'll get more money! I bought a set of golf clubs here (before I knew anything about golf) for $75 and they were too stiff. Two days later I took them back in the same condition I bought them and the owner would not refund my money. After a lot of run around I sold them back to him for $25. I purchased what was supposed to be an olympic bar. The standard weight of which is 45 pounds. Upon weighing my bar on a scale it weighed 35 pounds. Meaning the bar I was sold was an "Olympic Style" bar. When I called the store to report this, I was told there was nothing they could do. Furthermore, they stated they do not know the actual weight of the bars the purchase. Nor do they care to know. They simply rush the product on to the floor and charge the same price for all bars that appear to be Olympic 45 pound bars. Thus demonstrated a complete lack of knowledge of their products, and a lack of willingness to stand behind the quality of their sub par merchandise. Sellers beware of lowballing! Don't bother bringing items in for anywhere near top dollar or even a fair price as you will be insulted by their offers. Go the Craigslist route or donate for tax purposes if you want more than pennies on the dollar or else you'll feel like you just gave it away for free. read more

I came to buy my son lacrosse gear and wanted to do it inexpensively since this was a new sport he wanted to try out. I was impressed with the customer service initially but not the prices. It is my fault for not checking other sources before going here and just assuming a better deal but when I got home and started checking online prices I realized I REALLY overpaid. Lesson learned. I spoke with a friend right after we left the store and they offered to give us a stick. I called the store back within an hour, explained the situation and was told they did not accept returns. That is their policy and I should have paid attention to that up front. Again lesson learned. But after I spent $140 there (and did not get all the equipment we needed!) the good 'customer service' move would have been to let me bring the stick back. I buy gear for 5 young athletes and I love the concept of 'recycling' gear. I would have put this place on my radar and checked with them when we needed things. Now, I probably won't be back.
