Besides being in the auto repair business and having the experience needed to calm your worries about your car's troubles, he is also a really personable and stand up guy that provided excellent customer service and keeps you informed along every step of the car's repair. I just found his auto shop as I was looking for a trusted location that I can frequent in the future and just happened to stumble upon his shop on Yelp which just happened to have 5 stars. I now understand why people have awarded this business with such a high score as it is the place that I will go to from now on whenever I need anything car related. The price was more than fair for a standard oil change and what was even more impressive was the speed at which the car was maintenanced. I called in the afternoon and Rolando answered, I asked him about the oil change and when could I bring the car in, he then said to bring it on by as soon as I could and that he would have it ready soon. They took no more than 20 minutes to change the oil in the car so I waited inside in the office while I talked to Rolando about life, again, he's a really nice guy. A coworker recommended Rolando when I was having a squeaking issue with my car. He just had his hip replaced and apologized for estimating a 5 hour project to be ready the next morning (this was at 10am). He showed me pricing and exactly what needed to be done upfront so there were no surprises. He called me at 5:30pm and asked if I could pick the car up within the hour. I've been going to Playa Autocare for the last year. I have a 2010 Chrysler, so there's been quite a bit of work to do. I liked the owner and the shop, i felt safe when i drove away that the car was solid and i was given a fair price. about 2 months ago i had my ac repaired. It was my evaporator and an expensive job that took two days. Within a couple of days the ac was out again. I wasnt able to bring it back right away because i needed the car and work was extremely busy. 3 weeks later I took it back, they kept for 2 days again and i drove away without paying anything more. Within 2 days it stopped working again. I had already lost the car for 4 days and had to pay for a rental, and questioning the quality of the work. It was a month before i was able to bring it back. After they had it for a whole other day without knowing what was wrong i strongly expressed my frustration and doubts, and the financial strain this had created. I was strong, told the facts but not disrespectful. The mechanic i spoke with worked on the car that evening and i drove away in the morning extremely grateful, and expressed as much. Today i called for a price for some more work and the owner hung up on me. As a woman i have been treated like an idiot and have absolutely been take advantage of in this city. I had no other recourse because im not a mechanic myself. But it seems advocating for oneself is not acceptable. I have another mechanic i trust. I almost never write reviews: this time I have to. That's how good Playa Auto Care is. I went in because my AC was blowing hot. I knew it wasn't lack of refrigerant because I'd checked it. So I got Playa's name off Yelp and brought it in. I was prepared to spend several thousand dollars for a new AC compressor. Instead Marc Cohen diagnosed an electrical problem. He then found the wires I'd damaged (when I'd changed my oil filter) and spliced them back. He recharged my AC with refrigerant and I was good as new. My total bill? $278.20. I thanked him for being so fair. He smiled and said, "I have to be able to sleep at night." The whole experience was a throwback to a different era, when honesty and pride in your work was all that mattered. read more

I just moved to Florida from NJ and was looking for a reputable shop based on reviews. I had to wait for 2 hours to find out that a rear break job on my old Lexus will cost me $1000. I could not believe the price knowing that cost of parts is under 200 and I always paid between $100-150 for any brake job on all my cars so I asked Rolando if I can bring my parts for him to install. He refused and realizing that I'm not coming back charged me $35 for looking at my car which took him literally 2 minutes. I asked him if he was planning to use original Lexus parts just to make to justify such exuberant price but he confirmed that these were 3rd party generic parts. So I ordered brand new brake pads and discs online for 190 and had it installed by someone else for 150. I was willing to spend a little more because of my busy schedule, my time is worth more than the 700 in savings but I just refuse to be taken advantage of and recommend anyone who reads this to avoid this place by all means. read more
