One of the best acai bowls I have ever had. Especially since everything down the shore is super expensive. It's about $10.00 and you can really add or replace any of the ingredients you need too. I like to replace the honey with Nutella, I always add pineapple, chia seeds and coconut flakes. That's basically my special ingredients, the staff is super sweet. It's very face paced for being down the shore, the line is usually huge for such a small place. This is the best meal and most refreshing meal for after a long day at the beach! read more

Why is it that when I order a power bowl, there's bananas sliced around the entire edge of the bowl but if I add strawberries and pay extra, they take out half the bananas and replace it with strawberries... Why would I pay extra when u are just replacing half the fruit, plus the acai was melted immediately after they gave it to me. The peanut butter was all over the top and completely stuck to the lid so I had to scrape it off. I normally order from Holmdel but I was in the area and was craving one. In Holmdel they put the peanut butter under the fruit to avoid losing half of it on the lid. Very disappointed. read more

Nice and refreshing food that you can feel good eating. Great quality ingredients. We got the Nica bowl and the Nutella bowl. Their menu is so large there are so many options that everyone can find something they like. You can also do a bowl that's split half an half so you can really customize your bowl. The atmosphere is really fitting being on the boardwalk with surfboards for tables and a lot of artwork. This week, I was blessed to visit two different playa bowl locations. This one seems to have a more lively coffee bar than the Red Bank location. The smoothies are tasty, but you have to try the bowls! Yes they're trendy, no, they're not as healthy as they could be... but they are delicious and beautiful! Be prepared to wait in line, it was about 20 minutes to order and get my bowl, which isn't too bad considering how popular they are. I used to love this place but you suck now. I paid over 35 dollars for 2 items and tipped good... but can't get a side of brown sugar?! This place needs to come to Long Island! I had an acai bowl for the first time and it was life changing. So fresh and delicious, I couldn't believe what I was eating. We got 2 bowls to share between 3 people because we weren't super hungry. The nutella bowl included acai, granola, bananas, strawberries, coconut flakes, and nutella on top. Obviously, there are healthier versions and you can get something more suitable for breakfast. They were a little over $10 each which I thought was steep BUT the bowl itself is huge. I don't know that I could finish the entire thing even if I was very hungry. I wouldn't consider this a full meal replacement because it's mostly fruit (and sugar). It's similar to a fruit smoothie that you'd have for breakfast or a snack. The variety here is amazing and there are many bowls to choose from. This is definitely a relatively new, hip food trend (similar to kale, coconut oil, avocado toast, vegan alternatives, food that you'd find in the gentrified neighborhoods of Brooklyn, etc.) but nevertheless AMAZING. Even the inside is super cool and hip. We went near closing (8pm - even though they were still opened and taking orders later). It was not crowded so we got our bowls quickly, therefore I cannot comment on efficiency and service in the morning or during the day when people are more likely to come here. I know everyone is raving about this place so we visited during a great beach day. I had to see for myself what all the excitement was about. I got the Aloha smoothie made with banana, mango, pineapple, coconut milk & apple juice. Admittedly, it was quite delicious. My friend had the nutella bowl, which I sampled. It was a delicious bowl of fruit, I agree, however the nutella was the consistency of a slurpy in the bottom of the bowl. The icy nutella was a bit of an unpleasant experience for my taste buds. The building is long & narrow with people crammed everywhere, & that was on a weekday! I can only imagine the weekends or holidays! It also seems to be a hangout for a lot of younger kids (compared to an old crow like me). I love them but don't see myself spending much time in a confined space with them very often (especially on a hot summer day). I thought the prices were also a bit high & I think it's more of a trendy kind of place. I would probably go back but not very often, & maybe after the summer season. Not the best Acai bowl...strawberries were obviously quickly defrosted but bananas were good. The Acai base was very sweetened (take that as you will) and I really liked the granola in it. I really wished you could create your own bowl and toppings but what really bugged me was how expensive it was. $11 for a small bowl yikes. I know Playa bowls started the Acai bowls in jersey but I would recommend visiting other places that are less expensive and have more verity. read more

Playa bowls was poppin' when I was at the beach. The line was unbelievably long, out of the door. Me and my brother walked past by and was wondering what all the hype was about. I ended up waiting in line for about 20 minutes, and ordered the bowl that was the smoothie kale with granola and strawberries/bananas. First of all, I waited in line way too long. The price was $10 + tax for a bowl of fruit and smoothie. Was it worth it? Not in my opinion. The whole bowl was more than half of granola...and the kale smoothie tasted like straight up ice and water. It was not worth it at all. I could have done so much better myself. I love playa but wow this is a terrible location. The decor is great but the staff is not. The employee stared me down while I'm looking at the menu. Then I ask if there is tap water or only water bottles (have been to other locations with tap water out). He was rude and snappy and just said "bottles". Didn't need the attitude. He then incorrectly repeated my order back to me twice and it took seven spellings of my FOUR LETTER name. It's not That hard. Was not apologetic at all. Just continued to have attitude. The person in front of me ordered five bowls to go and they made them for here. When she mentioned it they just pointed her in the direction of the lids and watched her box them all up herself. While waiting for bowls, staff was running around the seating area of the restaurant playing soccer with aluminum balls??? Customer service could use some work. And some professionalism could help. Loved this place! So unique and pretty chic! Great addition to Belmar Beach because they are not your typical beach shop. I had the Nutaya (Nutella) Playa bowl which was sooooo delish. We also tried the Coconut Craze, and if you are a fan of raw coconut, then you will like this. But, if you don't like raw coconut, then this may not be sweet enough for you. You can always add any toppings you want to make it sweeter. The Nutaya bowl is great if you like dark chocolate or nutella. It also wasn't super sweet, which I also liked. Their staff has great customer service. They are right across the street from the beach, so you can just walk in straight from a day at the beach and enjoy something tasty, healthy, and unique. I've only been twice so far and I'm surprised others didn't make the same comments. Although refreshing, the granola is very very dry and extra crunchy...unfortunately the mango, pineapple, and kiwi on my electric mermaid bowl were all unripe! This really took away from the great dragonfruit texture and flavor. Sweet, ripe fruit would make a big difference. I'm definitely going to super customize my next bowl....however I don't think I would order any Tropical fruit. It's a shame because fruit is integral to the quality of the bowl. read more

I grabbed a Nutella bowl (acai) I was looking for the coconut but they were sold out as for it was MDW and they were mobbed all weekend. I had to replace the strawberries with blueberries because I'm allergic. They were very accommodating and did not charge me for the substitution.
