I placed an order on January 1st for pickup at the Hooper Avenue location. When I arrived, two other customers were already waiting for their orders, so I waited my turn. An associate--who appeared to be new, as I've visited this location many times before--approached me and handed me a bag. She said something while doing so, but it was unclear. Assuming the order was mine, I took the bag and left. As soon as I got into my car, I received a phone call from someone who I believe was the manager, stating only that I had taken the wrong food. I immediately returned to the store and handed the bag back. The manager explained that it belonged to the other customers who had been waiting. He then asked me if I had opened the bag, which I had not--I had only just reached my car when I received the call. The other customers looked through the bag and said they would still take the food. Throughout this interaction, the manager did not apologize or take accountability for the mistake made by his staff. I was left standing there feeling as though I had done something wrong, and the situation made me uncomfortable, especially with the way the other customers were looking at me. I understand that mistakes happen, and I'm not upset about the mix-up itself. What was disappointing was the manager's lack of professionalism, communication, and apology. A simple explanation or acknowledgment would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, this experience left a very negative impression. read more

This place is my go to for smoothies! The service is amazing and actually gives you time to order. The atmosphere is extremely clean not an inch of dirtiness on the floors and counter. I ordered the kids strawberry and banana smoothie (with chocolate except that is another request) It tastes so good! I hate to leave a negative review as for the most part I have been pleased with the quality and products at Tropical Smoothie Cafe.... so this rewiew relates to a single experience but also highlights a broader concern that i would like to see addressed... food waste. Last night after a workout my gf and I stopped in for a couple of protein smoothies. We ordered extra protein in both and left a nice tip. Its was 8:30pm (store closes at 9) and it looked like we were the last order as the girls were clearly cleaning up to close. We watched as our shakes were made ...they were both the same so only one blender was used. I looked puzzled when the girl put in an excessive amount of ice. Sure enough after blending there was significantly more than two cups worth in the blender. We watched the girl hastily fill both cups ...and before she handed them to us she dumped the rest of the pticher in the sink. I exclaimed what are you doing ..do not waste that, we will take it another cup. The girl became instantly rude. She claimed it was their policy to throw away the extra. (Is this true? Because on every other occasion we were given all that was blended.) I proceeded to tell the girl that she had just dumped half the protein we paid for down the sink. Her response was... NO, its in there. Okay, there seems to be a simple misunderstading of cooking and mathematics here. If my protein was in the blender, and you just dumped half of it down the sink... you threw away half the protein that I paid for. I am buying the ingredients...not the cup. I pointed out that my cup was not even full. She then dismissively said... Thank you, have a good night adm walked away. She repeated this two more times yelling it across the store as i tried to talk to her as she was walking away. We would have asked for a refund or requested she make another batch...but the girl was clearly in a bad mood and trying to close up early...and we didn't want to instigate an argument. We asked if she was the manager and took her name...and left without resolving the issue. An overall horrible experience in a place that we normally enjoy. So this brings to question: What is the store's policy on dumping the ingredients the customer paid for down the sink? If i order a shake woth 30gm of protein and 50% of it isnt given to me...did I get what I ordered and paid for?? read more

Tried this place for the first time today...and look forward to going back! I used the app to place my order with in-store pickup. The app was very easy to navigate & the pickup process was very streamlined, which was great because I was in a hurry. I noticed the cafe was very clean & had plenty of seating for an in restaurant visit. I ordered a breakfast & smoothie combo. So many options sounded good! Went with Peanut Butter & Banana Crunch Flatbread with a Beach Bum Smoothie. WOW...both were sooo delicious & definitely a filling meal. The folks behind the counter were pleasant & also very busy filling orders. Will absolutely be a return customer & recommend giving them a try! read more

The only reason for 2 stars is the staff was pleasant. They forgot the dressing on my salad. The chicken was rubbery, the lettuce had brown lettuce in it and the side of sweet potatoes tasted straight out of the microwave. Honestly the worst meal I've had in a long time. I didn't try the smoothies because when I looked at the calorie count, they were higher than a meal. Save your money and go to a place that actually serves healthy food. I did call to let them know about the dressing , they offered me a discount on my next meal after asking how I'd be compensated but honestly after attempting to eat this and having it be inedible, I won't be back. read more

I've picked up lunch here several times and I'm always impressed. The shop is extremely clean, the employees are friendly and helpful, and the food is always excellent. It's not fast food, everything seems to be made to order, so you might have to wait a few minutes. Prices are cheap compared to other chain restaurants in the area. I will be going back. read more
