Food (5/5): Got the mucho mango and sweet cream cold brew. Both were quite good! I particularly liked how smooth cold brew was and the freshness of the mango. Service (4/5): No issues with the service and the food and drink came out fast. Ambiance (5/5): Nice shop with LA vibes and clean interior. The music playing is nice and fits the overall vibe.

I'd totally franchise a Playa Bowls given my healthy obsession to the quality, taste, & decor! This location has the kindest staff who are patient & helpful with you choosing what new to try. I finally switched up my norm and tried the green kale bowl in a custom way that the cashier ended up being able to save me money on! I was sad she couldn't honor my day-old coupon...I'm a frequent rewards holder who puts everyone on to this place. I haaaaaate hate the location but I get it's a fair choice for now given the school nearby. It's so cute inside - the decor and ambiance feel like you're stepping into a prettier city than what's outside of it lol & an oasis at the same time. Love its open floor plan. There was also a tv inside which I found nice to motivate employees when customers aren't there. There's enough seating there to satisfy. I'm happy to see another Playa Bowls! Go, enjoy!!!

Fall Special Açaí bowl with apple butter

Love that Playa Bowls finally opened in the JSQ neighborhood. Service is great and they are getting so much business as the area is growing so fast. Sofar I've order a few of their Açaí bowls and all have been great, I love the Tropical bowl. But this week I tried their fall special bowl w/ apple butter; it was so good not too sweet. And they are running a fall special $2 off.

The spot itself is clean, bright, and has a laid-back vibe that makes it a good place to grab something healthy on the go or hang out for a bit.

Right when you walk in, you'll be offered a ginger shot with a chaser. The ginger shot may feel a little hot and spicy but the chaser fixes that pretty well. I ended up getting the palisades and paterson plank smoothies this time around but I definitely want to try other juices and smoothies! They have a large variety and make it fresh. In addition to smoothies, they also sell cupcakes from a local baker. They seem unassuming but they are delicious! I tried the sweet potato and carrot cupcakes. Odd flavors but they're so flavorful! If you stop by, I definitely recommend trying a cupcake. Overall, a great place with great people and great vibes. So happy that they're here in JC.

I feel welcome as soon as I walk in the door, with a free ginger shot (intense!) and chaser. You really cannot go wrong here, I have loved every smoothie I've gotten. Anyone in the neighborhood, or anyone visiting Lincoln Park, should check this place out. BTW they also have delicious cupcakes, juices, and a bunch of nice-looking food options.

Food Story is your typical Korean market. - if you have been to H-Mart, Mitsuwa, or Ranch99 it's the same style and layout with many authentic Asian groceries sourced from overseas and a food court for fresh Korean and Japanese dishes like ready-to-eat Korean fried chicken, poke bowls, and sushi. To my surprise, they have a wide selection of Japanese foods, more so than HMarts. And they have Korean-style thin-cut frozen meats in a fridge near the rice section - but they don't have a butcher section, so temper your expectations. Although most of the groceries here are relatively expensive, their prices are mostly on par with regular prices at many Asian markets. But, other markets offer far better weekly sales - Food Story doesn't have a circular or website, so it seems they dont offer sales. I did however find some special discounted prices for random items throughout the aisles. One downside that stood up is that many of the price labels were misorganized and placed under the wrong items. So, take care to match the UPC or you may have a bad experience with the cashier at checkout (something that I saw some other reviewers complain about). Overall, Food Story is a solid addition to the neighborhood - a convenient, albeit pricey, option for Aisan good lovers.
