The line was out the door and you have about 6 teenagers running the place- not one adult in sight. I ordered the Nutella açaí bowl. Two people in our group ordered oatmeal bowls and they were cold. The acai bowl I had was good, however it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. It was small for the price you pay. Not enough granola, it's always crowded, and there's no where to sit. I could forgive all of that if the service was even remotely acceptable. The wait was unacceptably long considering these bowls are not hard to make, everyone was disorganized, and there were many employees standing around doing nothing while they had a huge crowd waiting. All in all, food was not worth the wait or the money, service is horrible, and they're not equipped for the crowds and business they get. I have been to several Playa Bowl locations. Montclair is my favorite! Every time I have gone, my bowl is made to perfection and it is always instagram ready. I love the Purvida bowl and the Nutella bowl. The music is on point and the staff is friendly and ready to answer and questions you may have. Ill be Talking about the Acai Bowl : The Acai itself was way way too sweet , the texture was confused; the middle was creamy while the sides of the bowl were completely liquidy The granola tasted like dry chips mixed with sugar, coconut flakes tasted like paper, Only tasty part of the bowl is the Pineapple. I added almond butter and I barely saw any inside my bowl. Also my wife added peanut butter to hers; she said she went through the bowl forgetting she ordered peanut butter. To be completely upfront about the bad before the good I will say this place is fairly pricey for what are essentially fancy bowls of oatmeal. I will say however it was the most delicious breakfast I have had in a long time. The service was excellent, friendly and my food came out almost immediately. We really need another poke bowl place in the area. Every single time i Place an order online and pick it up it's wrong. The order online feature on the website makes no sense. I can not customize my orders the correct way and that's why this keeps happening. Example: i write "one bowl white rice one bowl brown" and then i have to select "brown rice" and they BOTH end up with brown rice. The Playa Bowl app is not very user friendly. I placed order on Yelp and was told it would take an hour to get my food.

I called at 8:27pm and asked to place an order for pick up and the girl on the phone told me that they are only taking online or in store orders. That was fine so I went in and it was 8:32pm. I start order and some girl interrupts me and told me they stop taking orders after 8:30pm. First of all that's ridiculous you close at 9pm ;therefore, you should continue to take orders and do your job until 9pm. Second of all why did the girl on the phone not have the common sense to tell me that in 3 minutes they would stop taking orders. It was a waste of time and I am so pissed because I really wanted a pitaya bowl. It literally took everything in me to stay calm. Horrible. Will never go back. Waited 30 minutes for two acia bowls. They weren't even busy and they had a ton of people behind the counter "working", by "working" I mean chatting between each other, dancing and singing and totally not rushing!!! I typically go to the store in Long Branch, where there's always a line out the door and those employees prepare orders in less than 5mins. I don't think I ever waiting for more than 5mins. Montclair store, on the other hand, had only a few customers and it took them 30mins to make our order and all other people waited for forever as well (you would think they were cooking chicken for us in the back). The person before me ordered a smoothie and also waited about as long as we did - how long does it take to throw things in a blender and blend?!? Will never go back. They get my order wrong 7/10 times and that's just unacceptable, especially since one of the times, my friend specified her allergy and only realized they had gotten the order wrong when her lips swelled. If I can make my order from memory, I'd assume employees of the establishment could make it from a pamphlet detailing the ingredients. We were so excited for this! We walked in pretended we were on LAGUNA BEACH( I was Heidi) ;) anyway I got a kale bowl called the pacific and it was NoT at all worth the money I paid for it. The base was bland. My friend got a coconut based one which was actually not edible. I would give mine a 4/10 and we would give the coconut a 0/10. Love the bowls and this place gets packed so I try and pre order as much as I can to avoid the lines. So far they messed up my order 4 times. I stick with the same kind of bowl (tropical bowl) and the first time they messed up they forgot to add my coconut and I didn't realize it until I drove away and got home. Second time I preordered and asked for no granola. Well they added granola. 3rd and 4th time I asked for almond butter, both times they added peanut butter. My first time going to Playa Bowls was the night before my dance competition. I had just gotten a spray tan and was going with my friend to treat her for her birthday. When we got to the store, the line was out the door but we decided to wait anyway. Due to the spray tan, I will admit I looked funny. However, when I got closer to the front of the line, I saw the young girl working the cash register on her phone in clear sight, which is very unprofessional. I have been working in restaurants for almost 2 years now, and I know how disrespectful that is to customers, especially new ones. As I was getting closer to the front of the like, when there was only one person in front of me (who was paying), the young lady decided to hold up her phone very blatantly, and I assume she was taking a Snapchat of me, due to the spray tan and how dark and silly it looked because her flash went off. She quickly got embarrassed. I felt very very disrespected. She never did apologize to me. I have only returned to Playa Bowls once after that, and was pleased when I didn't see her behind the counter. However, other than the customer service, the acai bowl I had was okay. For the price, I felt like I could have gotten more. At Juice House in Garwood, you pay $11 for a 32 oz acai, so I felt cheated when I saw the size of mine at Playa Bowls. read more
