HAPPY NATIONAL BUBBLE TEA DAY! I figured it was appropriate to start my review of Kung Fu Tea with that since today is April 30th (and NBTD was actually founded by KFT). The day is also its anniversary as a company, with this year being its 13th in operation. Recently we've been on a boba kick and have been going to the Montclair location multiple times this month. I order through the app to earn points and check out deals. My partner goes with Taro Mill Green Tea with 2x tapiocas and less ice. I try to order different things to try out because KFT has a variety of drinks - the milk teas, classics, punches, yogurts, coffees, teas, slushes - and a variety of toppings and ways to customize. The app makes it easy to customize. Some drinks I liked are Winter Melon Mill Green Tea with Bubble, Rosehips Milk (Early Grey) Tea, Hot Taro Milk Tea with Bubble, Guava Black Tea with Crystal Bubble and Mango Jelly. The shop is off of Bloomfield Ave. It's cute inside with an illustration wall and board games for customers staying there to hang out. Kung Fu Tea has become our go-to. Highly recommended! read more

i am very disappointed with this location, first they messed both of my friends drinks one of my friends asked for a strawberry tea without any tapioca, and they added tapioca. they gave my other friend a medium instead of a large. The lady at the counter wasn't very communicative and she took a very long time to make the drinks along. It was very understaffed and was hard for the lady to make all these drinks. The place is ambience isn't very nice. It's very dark and unprofessional. My drink is taking over 30 minutes to make. read more

I've been to Kung Fu Tea at two different locations. I love bubble tea and this place doesn't disappoint. They make the tea quickly. My only complaint is that the second time, I asked for 0% sugar and they didn't honor that. I had no issues the first time though. If you want reduced sugar, be sure to double check the label. Which makes the ordering experience easy and convenient for those who are new to this type of experience. Unlike smaller bubble tea shops the options you get here are AMAZING - extensive toppings, like popping bubbles (my FAVORITE), Fig Jelly, or traditional bubbles to name a few. The ability to customize the level of sweetness in your drink (which is HUGE - I hate when I feel like I'm just drinking juice because of how sweet some shops make my bubble tea). It's really nice to see a decent bubble tea chain in the Montclair area that is conveniently located in the heart of Bloomfield Ave. The location itself is pretty bare bones in terms of decor but for me that's okay, I care more about how the actual drink taste like. They are consistent with the drinks, boba itself is nice - soft and chewy. There are no complaints on my end :) Service is pretty quick and the prices are the same as any other Kung Fu location. It does get pretty hot/stuffy in here so I do think that the air needs to get adjusted in here when the weather gets warmer. Just like any other KFT locations, the menu is extensive and you can pretty much get anything your heart desires. That's what I thought at first but i realized some branches make teas differently even though they are supposed to be the same thing. What i love about this place is that they are so far consistent with the taste and quality of their teas. Parking is tricky but that is the usual when in montclair and especially when by Bloomfield ave. Inside the store is spacious with ample tables and chairs for a group to enjoy their drinks as well as do a couple of cards or board games. The Connect 4 entertains me for a good amount of time. As for the drinks, i love how they make their cocoa cream wows here. There is a good amount of chocolate that blends sweetness and bitterness together well. It is also pretty to look at. They are pretty popular here so they tend to get sold out fast along with the other milk caps so be warned! I've had my heart broken here a few times coz of that. The store is also kept nice and clean. During cooler days their windows to tend to fog a lot! but when theres movement inside, theyre open! I'm so glad another bubble tea place opened up in the area! Even though I have KFT all the time, it's only my second time at this location. I usually order wintermelon milk green tea, but I decided to try their passion fruit slush! For a warm weathered day, it was perfect! There was a pretty long line they day I went, so it did take a while for my drink to come out. The first time I went, since no one else was there, the service was pretty fast and my drink came out immediately. There is also a 10% discount for students. You just have to show them your student ID and it will be applied at checkout! I also noticed that they have a shelf full of board games. I thought that was a really cute addition to the store! Most KFTs I have been to do not offer any board games, so I think it's adorable how you can borrow their games during your stay and return it afterwards. Have always loved visiting Kung Fu Tea! Two summers ago I reached out about possibly getting them to cater for our graduation party. They helped me pick out two different drinks to set up a bubble tea bar in our backyard. Everyone loved having bubble tea at the party and Kung Fu was amazing to work with! Last summer our family requested bubble tea when we went to visit them, placed another catering order, and traveled to Cape Cod with Kung Fu Tea in the back seat. I wanted to get some milk tea and so I decided to check this place out. I came in and ordered an oolong milk tea with boba. When I came in, they immediately told me there might be a bit of a wait. I did not expect to end up waiting 20+ minutes, but it seemed like they were pretty understaffed for the number of orders they were receiving online and in person. In addition, it seemed like they may have had a new staffer. When I did receive my drink, turns it out it was not quite what I ordered. So I went back to the staff and let them know. I felt a little bad because I could see they were a little overwhelmed, but they apologized and fixed the drink pretty quickly. The drink was a little lackluster. Maybe it just did not match with my preference but to me it was really heavy on the cream. I honestly could barely taste the tea flavor at all. It just mostly tasted like cream with some boba. Not only that but 25 minutes and they still managed to mix up our order by adding jelly and bubbles to the wrong drink. We got two slushes and one milk tea, don't really know how much simpler an order could have gotten. Another thing - while waiting for the bubble teas my party observed an infestation of fruit flies. I give it 3.5 stars. I came here during the first week they opened and took advantage of the buy one get one free deal. I chose the mango green tea and the passionfruit green tea. I normally order taro but it wasn't one of options for the bogo special. To my surprise, I ended up liking the passionfruit drink way more than the mango drink. I'm a huge fan of mango so for me not to like it means something is wrong. The mango drink barely taste like mango and had a weird aftertaste. I forced myself to drink it because there were jelly and tapioca at the bottom. I didn't ask for the jelly, but it seemed to come with the mango drink which was a nice surprise. When I was placing my order, the young lady behind the register asked if I wanted tapioca. I asked if the tapioca will be extra, she said no. But in the receipt, it said the tapioca was additional .50 cent. Not a big deal but I asked and she said no. It also took a while to get my order. They did apologize for the delay. So yeah my first experience wasn't that great but I will definitely give it another chance and update my review. The staffs were friendly so that's a plus. FYI: There are only two sizes. Tea all day everyday, in any form. Hot or cold, no matter when or where. Yup, it's like that. They have a geat selection of different teas, oolong, milk tea, green teas and juices. You can pick from cold, slush, or warm options. I love that you can pick your sugar level, ice amount and toppings. I have become infatuated with the jellies and bubbles I can opt into my tea's. My absolute fav is the Taro milk tea with nata jelly. I am amazed by the depth of the Taro mixed with the jelly. It gives it balance and awesomeness. My kids love their Oreo milk with tapioca pearls for fun. Kung fu Tea has a great passion fruit option that is so super flavorful and refreshing in the summer. It was a couple of days after their grand opening and they had a special going on on select drinks (BOGO) any size and I must say, out of all the kung fu tea places I've ever tried, this place is really spot on with the right amount of sweetness! i buy a lot from this place, the bubble tea is good and the time to wait, well it could get very busy but I don't mind. the employees so far have been nice and haven't had any problems with them. now my issue is that Ive made an online order on November for about $50 but the order didn't have any of my toppings there for I wanted it to be cancelled and get a refund for it. I felt bad for the employees and for throwing away such a big order and my sister said that she wanted them anyways. so I went back and paid with a $50 dollar bill. I went on a trip and while on the trip noticed that my refund was never placed back on my card. came back January and spoke to the employees and they said that the manager was going to call me, she never did. forward 3 months I'm back and I've asked what had happened with my refund that since I go there I wouldn't even mind store credit. the guy tells me that the manager said that they noticed that the bill that I had given them was fake. the guy took my email and told the manager was going to get in contact with me(again) and again she did not reached out to me. so here is my issue; we all make sure our bills aren't fake, i believe. I've made sure mine wasn't and now I'm being told I gave them a fake. now why couldn't they make sure right there and then. Now, I try to taste their seasonal teas as they are limited-time flavors. Today, I ordered the Winter Melon Coconut Milk Tea. I have tried winter melon and coconut milk tea separately but never combined. This combination is delicious. The winter melon is a mildly flavored fruit, while the coconut is sweet. As a result, there is a perfect balance between the two fruits, along with the tea and boba. I would also recommend trying other seasonal drinks: mango cream, strawberry cream, blue island punch, and strawberry yogurt lemonade. read more

So I can't tell you about the actual location, store, environment, and workers.. since I just order via the mobile apps (praise the Lord for them) BUT what do I recommend drink-wise.. the Taro, Green, and Thai.
