I called at 8:27pm and asked to place an order for pick up and the girl on the phone told me that they are only taking online or in store orders. That was fine so I went in and it was 8:32pm. I start order and some girl interrupts me and told me they stop taking orders after 8:30pm. First of all that's ridiculous you close at 9pm ;therefore, you should continue to take orders and do your job until 9pm. Second of all why did the girl on the phone not have the common sense to tell me that in 3 minutes they would stop taking orders.

It was a waste of time and I am so pissed because I really wanted a pitaya bowl. It literally took everything in me to stay calm. If you're thinking of coming here don't, "Sweetberry Bowls" is better and cheaper!

This place gives you an amazing summer time at the shore feel. It's located on a street where parking is almost always hard to find. If you're lucky you won't have to park too far away. It's nicely decorated with indoor and outdoor seating. The menu can be Overwhelming, but everything sounds great! I settled for the oatmeal bowl with peanut butter, chocolate protein and bananas, I added granola to it. You can add or take away anything you want. The oatmeal was cooked thoroughly and so good.

My friend got the pitaya bowl with blueberries and strawberries. She said the pitaya itself was pretty bland and she was getting most of the flavor from the added fruit. I also got a dolce smoothie to go with banana, chocolate protein...

and peanut butter. It was extremely thick and hard to sip through the small straws they offer. I was better off taking the lid off and chugging it. Overall it's a nice place to go to in summer when you are craving something light and fruity. The music inside was a little too loud so it was hard to hear when they called your name or to even talk to your friend. But the staff was nice for the most part!

I recently visited Playa Bowls in Montclair for the first time, and I had the pleasure of being helped by Joel. As a first-timer, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed by the variety of flavors and options, but Joel made the experience so much easier. He patiently walked me through the menu, explaining the bases and gave suggestions he took the time to ensure I was confident in my choices. Thanks to Joel's guidance, I ended up trying Custom Mango, extra mango, extra pineapple, extra strawberry, with pumpkin butter and apple butter. As you can see I'm a bit extra . Thank you Joel !!!!!!

During my visit to Playa Bowls, I experience decent customer service; employees are nice, and the menu is easy for me to navigate. I order Trailblazer (granola, chocolate protein, banana, raw cacao, peanut butter, Chia Seeds): the flavors are subtle. Came here because a friend of mine wanted to get a smoothie post lunch Montclair is known to have parking headaches sometimes. Unless you work or live in area or snag metered street parking for .75. cents/hr - then it's not the easiest location to access I like the inside tho. Decorations and space. Lots of natural light during the day. Pumpkin spice season !!! So we tried the Pumpkin Pie Smoothie- small size. Very tasty and very thick/ heavy. I liked it but could only drink half of it because I was full from lunch I would come again to try other smoothies. Would be interesting to see how many calories in these things ... HMMM

Meh, mediocre experience here, I prefer the Newark location much better. Montclair NJ might be cuter than Newark but NAH..... My coconut bowl wasn't as good as Newark, stingy with the toppings, even forgot the honey drizzle, disappointing! That drizzle changed that bowl from delicious to FABULOUS! The Orange power smoothie was good tho. Nah, I won't ever come to this location again

I have been ordering from them on Uber Eats. I love their green juice, but every time I got less and less. I always get a large 20oz. Every time the cup seems smaller. The first picture is a 16 oz cup 60% full, second picture is the receipt shows that I've paid for a 20oz juice. The third photo is to put things into perspective for everyone, a 5.3 oz yogurt to the left and a 24 oz pickle jar when I paid for a 20oz juice, the fourth photo is the receipt shows my payment of a 20oz juice. I would say their bowls are good, but avoid getting juices unless you are in the store.

I'm so disappointed my bowl looked like scraps of other people's bowl. I paid for extra granola extra Nutella and extra strawberries and didn't receive those extra items. I know I didn't receive those items because I order the same bowl for my daughter without extra items and they look the same. they rush my order and the bowl had no good presentation at all. do better playa bowls

A great addition to the Montclair neighborhood. It really hits the spot when I'm craving sweets after eating in Montclair but don't want to feel extremely guilty about dessert. It is my go to spot now. You'll know where to find me after lunch/dinner ;) Sometimes Playa Bowls is extremely crowded and you have wait quite some time to get your smoothie/bowl (good luck trying to find a seat), but other times, it ain't so bad. Bowl-wise, I've only tried the Acai bowls, I have yet to try the Pitaya, Coconut and Green based bowls. I guess I can make it one of my goals to eventually try all of them out. After all, they do have a Loyalty Card here :) Buy 12 bowls and get 1 free! What I love about Playa Bowls is there are so many options! Juices, smoothies, bowls, Harmless Harvest coconut water, you name it! Bowls start around $9 which may seem a bit steep for some but it is really filling. it's pretty much a meal in itself, I cannot finish one after consuming food beforehand. I like the ambiance here, although its nothing fancy, it somehow feels like eating in a restaurant on a tropical island. The staff is super friendly and they always do a great job - everything is super fresh! My only wish now is that more Playa Bowls pop up in NJ because I have yet to find a place better than Playa Bowls when it comes to Acai bowls.

Playa bowls is easily one of the best snack spots in town. The fruit is always freshens the bowls are always crafted with a fantastic presentation. The decor inside is awesome and really invite you in to come and relax. I'm also obsessed with their granola! I'll be sure to keep on returning.

Gave this place a try because my usual go-to was closed. I ordered the nutella acai bowl without coconut flakes, + pinneaple, + kiwi. Order & delivery was quick. But all I got was a bowl of strawberries with coconut flakes. Playa is the new addition to Church St after Red Mango vacated the premises (much to my chagrin) - but it's nice to see that this is an equally, if not healthier, option for those with a sweet tooth. Playa Bowl offers juices, smoothies, and bowls with different fruit/veggie (or kale, mostly) bases. Between acai, pitaya and coconut fruit options, I tried both the dragonberry and the nutaya bowls. Although the bowls look small for the $9-$10 price point, with the fruit and granola it is more than filling as an afternoon snack or post-dinner dessert. The ingredients were very fresh and the bowls had an ideal balance of base fruits + additions. Extra toppings can be ordered for another 50 cents each. The ambiance is cute and West Coast-inspired - the typical Pinterest look you'd expect from a 'hip' new place in Montclair. Although some other reviewers believe the price to be reasonable, I still have to laugh at the idea that it's 'reasonable' to pay ten dollars for a bowl of fruit, even in Montclair. Fresh fruit isn't that hard to find, and the assembly line of workers make prep of these bowls a well-oiled process. It's a yummy bowl, believe me, but no way is the price point reasonable. It's expensive. But still, a yummy treat. If you come, know that since its opening the place has been jam packed mostly with high school aged girls that all seem to look alike to me in their leggings and Uggs, making me feel ancient - and making seating in high demand. It was much easier to take it to go and enjoy at home in front of the TV. I will come back as a special treat for myself. Maybe when I finally get my butt off the couch and start that exercise routine I've been saying I would do. P.S. Parking is a pain as this popular place is smack dab in the middle of Montclair's bustling dining/shopping area. I have my husband drop me off to pick up the order while he cruises around the block. Depending on the line at the register, this may take awhile.

If you've visited a Playa Bowl previously, you already know the deal here and all the bowls, smoothies, etc. are beautifully crafted and taste delicious. I ordered the Green Power Bowl, which was a tad heavy on the granola but otherwise very refreshing and filling. My poor boyfriend, the only male and oldest person there at 28, got the Dolce Smoothie and to his surprise, really enjoyed it post workout. I, unfortunately, can't ignore the migraine-producing ambiance I experienced on a Saturday afternoon. Waited 45 minutes amidst 50 teenage girls, music blasting, and barely able to hear the staff when they legitimately screamed people's names to pick up their order. It was hellish and made me think twice before going on a whim. Do yourself a favor, if over the weekend you have a craving for an Acai bowl, order online and pick it up. You'll be saving yourself a headache and also won't have to worry about finding parking in downtown Montclair. This just seems to be the culture in these establishments so it will probably never change. Decided to come in after my yoga class and I'm very happy I did! From the moment walked in I was greeted by the staff and was really feeling the overall "vibe" of the place. The cashier waited until I was ready to order. Didn't rush me at all and answered all of my questions questions (since I'm a newbie). I got the tropical açaí bowl and the beach break juice (kinda pricey) but hey I thought, it's Montclair. Overall, the bowl was delicious and the juice was perfect. The bowl and juice combo was supperrrrr filling. I was anticipating that it would be a snack until I had time to go get a real meal... and was wrong. Didn't even finish the bowl! Literally come here at least once a week, beware, there are always teens hanging around here but can't blame em', these bowls are to die for. So delicious! So flavorful! In love with this gem in Montclair. Came in and asked about they Pitaya? And they let me have a taste. It has a smooth consistency and is a beautiful bright pink! It's apparently dragonfruit. I am IN LOVE. I'm not sure if all of their fruits used are organic, but they do give out nice portions in their bowls. I would love to come back as a regular. They also have loyalty cards! So be sure to ask for one, I think the cashier almost forgot to give me one before I pointed it out. They're all very friendly and sweet. The only issue is parking, but then again everywhere in Montclair is a parking issue. I love that they're open early, which means I can get my smoothie fix before work. I highly recommend coming here to try a little bit of south jersey. :) read more

Had the Power Acai bowl and Ground Swell juice and they were both delicious. The Power bowl was large and filling and the juice tasted extremely fresh. After I received my order I sat outside in their outdoor seating. I definitely will be coming back here more often to try more acai bowls! read more

Great job. This is amazing on the go food. Went here for the first time, and the only complaint I have was the music that was playing was not appropriate for a business. "Drop it like its hot", and songs the featured the, "N and F word" should not be played. The staff was very friendly but some of them looked like they went drinking the night before. Great place but when they are busy, they at times mess up the order. My bowl was supposed to come with coconut flakes (normally, not an add on) and it was missing. I did contact them however and they offered me a free bowl. Unfortunately, I needed to use it in 3 days and couldn't return that quickly. Wish I had to opportunity to go again. read more

Best pitaya bowl I ever had! They had tons of toppings till the point it's gonna overflow with fruit on top. They use smoothie packs for bowls instead of in-store iced smoothie like some places do. Lots of annoying teenagers come in here during the day. Hipster ambience-10/10 read more

I am so disappointed In what happened tonight at this playa bowl. I am a regular at this place and I've never been forced to wear a mask and I've never be denied service because of it. I have no problem with putting on a mask for any store that requires it but the problem is the attitude that I was given of rudeness and sarcasm. I'm so saddened by this because I love this place but the attitude that I received from that young women tonight was super unprofessional and unnecessary. The masks signs need to be made more visible. I asked if they provided masks and I got a smart answer back of "you can check at cvs" as she roles her eyes. read more

I ordered the tropical acai bowl. The frozen purée acai was delicious. The only thing I didn't like in the bowl were the pineapples. Perhaps that is part of what made it tropical. Otherwise, the banana, coconut shavings, acai, honey drizzle and oats were delicious. There were so many bowls to choose from. Be prepared to spend $9.54 and up for these playa bowls. They also serve smoothies which are cheaper. If you visit the establishment around 2:50 pm and sometime thereafter you may run into a lot of school aged kids also looking to partake in the playa bowl goodness. The place was packed with about 85% kids. I would patronize this establishment again. This bowl would serve as a great meal substitute esp on a warm/hot summer day. read more

Love their bowls, super tasty. But this place is hit or miss. Half the time, orders are either missing ingredients, poorly made or melting. I've gotten bowls that are completely liquid. The staff is extremely young and irresponsible. It's sad cause when done right the food is delicious. But it's hard to know when your order will come out good. read more

I have never been to playa bowls before, but a friend recommended it. I went in and asked what it was about and got "fruit and açaí in a bowl" and while they aren't wrong I think a longer explanation would be great. So I asked for recommendations and I went with something that had Nutella and area as berries and granola... pretty good. Only complaint would be the açaí seemed to be frozen. I don't know if it's supposed to be, but it was still delicious and I'll definitely be back read more

The parking situation over here is exhausting ::rolls eyes dramatically:: The fact that I must bring my husband here to sit in the car in order to visit this establishment is discouraging sometimes but today it was worth it. A beachy, tropical decor makes this little breakfast spot a fun stop; bananas are hanging everywhere. The diverse menu includes acai bowls, pitaya bowls, coconut bowls, chia pudding bowls, oatmeal bowls and green bowls. I didn't know what pitaya was until I ordered it here: it's similar to dragonfruit and not overly sweet. I would order that again! Yum. The green bowl, made with a kale blend, was on the bitter side, so beware. Smoothies are the drink option here, though I think it would serve them well to add coffee to their repertoire. read more

Loved the playa bowls from Belmar and Long branch so of course when they put one in Montclair I was ecstatic since it's close by. It was good like always but this one is a little smaller than the rest and of course it's Montclair so parking is tough. The line was out the door but it quickly progressed and my bowl was quickly made. I also added extras onto my bowl for 50 cents. read more

My new obsession.....if it were closer I'd be there every other day! Delicious huge bowls of frozen pureed organic fruit topped with organic granola (gluten free available ) and a huge array of toppings!!! We got the Electric Mermaid, pitaya ,and the chocolate acai power bowl. YUM!!!! Can be quite busy, we waited 20 minutes on line. Try to go weekdays and before 2:00pm. read more

I love playa bowls and I haven't been there in a while so when I went today I was really excited. However, I had to throw away my smoothie because of the peanut butter intake. I couldn't enjoy the smoothie and wasted $8 because of the amount of peanut butter that was in my drink. So hopefully after this review they will know that "less is more". read more

I'm finally fed up. I've decided to just now voice out my complaints. Before I put this place on blast, first and foremost I go to playa bowls because I obviously like the bowls, atmosphere, etc. The one thing that ruins my whole experience to the core is when I get my order in shop or, even worse, bring it home is that 9 out of 10 times there is always something wrong with my order. EX: today my friend was supposed to pick up a 20oz Açaí Energy Smoothie and a Salmon Avocado Poke Bowl. As per my friend, she was waiting for 20mins and someone had taken the smoothie from my order so they had to make it again which caused her to wait another 10mins. No complaints on the poke bowl but I received a Strawberry Banana Smoothie Another EX: I placed an order for PICK UP of four Nutella Bowls. I specified no coconut flakes on one of the bowls (allergy concerns) and mango/banana instead of strawberry/banana on another bowl (allergic to strawberries) I pick up my order and proceed to go home. I finally get home and what do you know? All the bowls are the same; strawberry/banana, coconut flakes, etc There are other countless examples. My intention wasn't to hinder the reputation of Playa Bowls, just have these issues answered if not in shop then on this social media platform. read more

Playa bowels has some of the best smoothies I have had. The dolce is amazing! I like the bowels however, they are very big and when you want to save them, they are not as good. I would recommend a smaller bowel option. The staff is friendly and the place is very clean. read more

Playa is perfect for a summer day. Though pricy for a bowl of fruit it's worth the splurge. They have many options to choose from making the menu super diverse. Going there they have something for everyone. The decor matches very well to their brand. Music is always playing and the store is always air conditioned. On busy days seating is a little hard to find but in Montclair there are benches everywhere so no big deal. Ordering always goes by quickly and I never have to wait too long for my bowl. It's a great spot overall. read more

This is the worst playa bowls I have ever been to! You cannot order anything over the phone so I waited 30 minutes in line to order ONE bowl only to wait another 15 minutes for them to make it. It is so unorganized. read more

This was my second time coming to Playabowls and both times I got a smoothie. Today when I decided to try a different smoothie " The Dang" i asked what milk was in it because the sign on the wall didn't list any liquid that would actually make this into a smoothie. I asked the gentleman at the counter what milk was in the smoothie he said he didn't know and asked another coworker who said it would be coconut milk. I asked why that wasn't listed and they should probably update that on the menu posted on the wall because it said Almond Butter. As I waited for the smoothie to be made I looked at one of the physical paper menus which listed Almond Milk as the milk that this smoothie was made out of of. I informed the guy who took my order. He didn't seem too interested. So no Almond butter or Coconut milk is in this smoothie. I have no clue what milk was actually used in my smoothie. It was still GOOD nonetheless. Employees should be more knowledgeable of the products or atleast be able to read from other menus to try to find out. read more

The best way to describe it was a like it came from a chain supermarket - lacking flavor and not up to fresh quality. The only one that was edible was the chocolate slice. We felt so bad to have to throw away the other two cakes, but they were not good at all. It was a waste of money to pay so much for a slice and not eat it.

Customer service at this place is non existent. Walked in to find two of the staff gossiping up a storm cursing left and right. Meanwhile, Im trying to order a bowl. Bowl comes out 15 min later and turns out its an acai soup not an acai bowl. Overly sweet and borderline inedible.. Only came to this place because my favorite acai spot down the street was closed. I originally gave a bad review because I had a couple of bad experiences and one on a bad day (not fair). The customer service has improved and the bowls are still great. Waited in line for an hour only to be served a 10$ bowl of fruit that wasn't even fresh. If you want to spend 10$ on fruit go to the grocery store and make them yourselves. The managers do not seem to have the store running in an orderly fashion which continues the perpetual cycle of customer dissatisfaction. read more
