I, unfortunately, can't ignore the migraine-producing ambiance I experienced on a Saturday afternoon. Waited 45 minutes amidst 50 teenage girls, music blasting, and barely able to hear the staff when they legitimately screamed people's names to pick up their order. It was hellish and made me think twice before going on a whim. Do yourself a favor, if over the weekend you have a craving for an Acai bowl, order online and pick it up. Decided to come in after my yoga class and I'm very happy I did! From the moment walked in I was greeted by the staff and was really feeling the overall "vibe" of the place. The cashier waited until I was ready to order. Didn't rush me at all and answered all of my questions questions (since I'm a newbie). Literally come here at least once a week, beware, there are always teens hanging around here but can't blame em', these bowls are to die for. So delicious! So flavorful! In love with this gem in Montclair. Came in and asked about they Pitaya? And they let me have a taste. It has a smooth consistency and is a beautiful bright pink! It's apparently dragonfruit. I am IN LOVE. I'm not sure if all of their fruits used are organic, but they do give out nice portions in their bowls. I would love to come back as a regular. They also have loyalty cards! So be sure to ask for one, I think the cashier almost forgot to give me one before I pointed it out. They're all very friendly and sweet. The only issue is parking, but then again everywhere in Montclair is a parking issue. I love that they're open early, which means I can get my smoothie fix before work. Ordinarily I like this place but I had a terrible experience there today. My friend and I were walking around town. We popped in here spontaneously and ordered one smoothie to share, thinking it would take a couple of minutes. After all, there were only two other customers in the store (one of whom ordered after us) and at least six employees behind the counter. We waited no less than 10 minutes for the drink to be made. (Ten minutes may sound like no time at all but we had toddlers with us. It felt like an eternity.) We couldn't understand how it could possible take that long to make one drink. After ten minutes I couldn't take it anymore so I exclaimed "Does it always take ten minutes to make one drink here?" (Admittedly not my kindest response but I was trying to communicate my frustration). One of the employees fired back, "Your drink is being made! You need to be patient!" We then waited another five minutes for the drink. I am so disappointed In what happened tonight at this playa bowl. I am a regular at this place and I've never been forced to wear a mask and I've never be denied service because of it. I have no problem with putting on a mask for any store that requires it but the problem is the attitude that I was given of rudeness and sarcasm. I ordered the tropical acai bowl. The frozen purée acai was delicious. The only thing I didn't like in the bowl were the pineapples. Perhaps that is part of what made it tropical. Otherwise, the banana, coconut shavings, acai, honey drizzle and oats were delicious. There were so many bowls to choose from. Be prepared to spend $9.54 and up for these playa bowls. They also serve smoothies which are cheaper. If you visit the establishment around 2:50 pm and sometime thereafter you may run into a lot of school aged kids also looking to partake in the playa bowl goodness. The place was packed with about 85% kids. I would patronize this establishment again. This bowl would serve as a great meal substitute esp on a warm/hot summer day. read more

I have never been to playa bowls before, but a friend recommended it. I went in and asked what it was about and got "fruit and açaí in a bowl" and while they aren't wrong I think a longer explanation would be great. So I asked for recommendations and I went with something that had Nutella and area as berries and granola... pretty good. Only complaint would be the açaí seemed to be frozen. I'm finally fed up. I've decided to just now voice out my complaints. Before I put this place on blast, first and foremost I go to playa bowls because I obviously like the bowls, atmosphere, etc. The one thing that ruins my whole experience to the core is when I get my order in shop or, even worse, bring it home is that 9 out of 10 times there is always something wrong with my order. EX: today my friend was supposed to pick up a 20oz Açaí Energy Smoothie and a Salmon Avocado Poke Bowl. As per my friend, she was waiting for 20mins and someone had taken the smoothie from my order so they had to make it again which caused her to wait another 10mins. No complaints on the poke bowl but I received a Strawberry Banana Smoothie Another EX: I placed an order for PICK UP of four Nutella Bowls. I specified no coconut flakes on one of the bowls (allergy concerns) and mango/banana instead of strawberry/banana on another bowl (allergic to strawberries) I pick up my order and proceed to go home. I finally get home and what do you know? All the bowls are the same; strawberry/banana, coconut flakes, etc There are other countless examples. My intention wasn't to hinder the reputation of Playa Bowls, just have these issues answered if not in shop then on this social media platform. read more

Going there they have something for everyone. The decor matches very well to their brand. Music is always playing and the store is always air conditioned.
