    Booster Bowl (~$12)
    Aya E.

Ordered: Booster Bowl (~$12): booster blend (banana, peanut butter, vanilla protein, flax oil, spirulina, cashew milk) topped with granola, banana, chia seeds, and peanut butter Aya's take: I had a 50% bowl coupon (making this bowl ~$6) and figured I'd stop by to redeem it after a workout. It's pretty nutritious, flavorful, and the vanilla whey protein makes this super filling. This location is spacious but maybe not the best place to work/study (the music was blasting). I'm a big fan of Playa Bowls' variety and ability to customized any bowl to your liking. Check them out!

Fresh and delicious! Playa bowls is perfect for a refreshing lunch, especially on a super hot day. They have so many locations around NJ, but somehow I haven't had a playa bowl until now. It's safe to say that I'll definitely be a return customer! The menu is way larger than I expected, and in addition to acai / pitaya bowls you can also find lots of smoothies, oatmeals, banana bowls, juices and more. Everything sounded so good that it was honestly hard to choose. I tried a pura vida bowl which came topped with sooo many fresh blueberries and strawberries. I need to know where they get their strawberries because I haven't been able to find berries this ripe anywhere! The bowl also has granola and honey, and I added peanut butter for some extra flavor which was a very good call. The acai is cold and smooth and the crunchy granola and berries are the perfect compliment. Sweeten everything up with honey and pb and this really is pure perfection. This will continue to be a go-to, especially while it's so hot out!

I don't know what happened to this place over the last two months. The quality has went down significantly. The staff does not fill up the bowls fully or provide the amount of toppings. The previous crew used to be spot on, replicating the bowls from the menu. The bowls you order today look nothing like the menu. The taste of the açaí is off as well. Not planning on going back soon.

I love Playa Bowl. But the owners need to instruct their staff to not mop the floors until the shop closes. We arrived 22 minutes before closing on a Saturday night. A female worker was mopping the floor with a smelly cleaner. Made me want to vomit. Well maybe not vomit but it wasn't a pleasant experience. The mopper while talking on the phone with one hand and mopping with the other, asked me to pick a spot and stay there because she was mopping. I was insulted but kept quiet. Then my partner receives her bowl and it was melted and over flowing. See photo When my partner said she didn't want it, a very stressful moment happened. The mopper said she wasn't paid enough to care. I told her she was very disrespectful and to have her father call me so I could tell him that his daughter was acting out. She ignored me. The whole event escalated to the point where my partner asked for the name of the counter worker but the worker refused. So I took my camera out and as I did, she turned around with her back to camera. The male cashier worker told us it was 9pm and we had to get out. I video taped it. If Playa Bowl corporate would like a copy,, feel free to contact me. Ps other people came in that where the groups friends. The workers seemed to give them free Playa Bowls which is not my concern, but the group seemed to be more concerned with them than us. Not good. Ever hear of the term "Silver Spoon teens"?

I ordered via Door Dash. Thus, this review is from a take out, online order perspective. It was easy to find Playa Bowl via the healthy order options. I selected one of the two 'special bowls' of Cupid Strawberry on the app. It was delivered correctly and easily in a cool 20 minutes from hitting send to on thanking the delivery driver. My bowl was huge! The strawberries were fresh and tasty. The açaí base was frozen and the chocolate bibs were plentiful. For $13, this was a great healthy lunch on a hot summer day. I am eager to try another bowl in the near future as there are about 15-20 options on the menu. The packaging was perfect will plenty of napkins! And includes utensils too. I am very pleased with Door Dash and the options that Playa Bowl provides for lunch. Why not try it today too?

    Pacific green bowl

I ordered a Pacific Green Bowl. Green bowls have a blend with Kale, Pineapple, Banana, Coconut Milk. Mine was topped with granola, strawberry, banana, shaved almonds, chia seeds, and honey. I thought this bowl was really good! Extremely refreshing and very fresh. If i have an opportunity to return to Morristown, I'd love to try other bowls. When we ordered on a Saturday morning around 11, surprisingly the bowls were prepared very quickly.

FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING. I am so obsessed with açaí bowls now! This tasted amazing. It was so fresh and VERY filling...almost too filling lol. The girls who worked there are so nice. My bowl was prepared to perfection. Street parking was a bit of a challenge but not too difficult. I just hate parallel parking lol. Overall my experience for both taste and quality were very positive and I will come again!

I went to Playa Bowl last week and found the attached embedded inside of the frozen Nutella and granola which I ate around until the end. I called and let them know and received a refund, however I let the girl (Ni'Cole) know that I wanted her manager to call me so that I could email her the pictures so she was aware of how dangerous this negligence could've been to not only me but a child. I have yet to receive a call and also reached out to the owner of the Playa Bowls original location. Silence. Since I have not heard back I will make you all aware. Be careful. It's obviously a broken cap to most likely the squeeze bottles that they use for the Nutella. I'm sure it was senselessly banged on the table to get the Nutella out. But wow, just wow. Only gave two stars because of the refund.

Coco craze, Electric mermaid, and the Power açaí

This was a while ago in July before the pandemic, but here's my review anyways.. Pictured are the Coco craze, Electric mermaid, and the Power açaí. Coco craze was what I got and there may have been a bit too much peanut butter for me, but was still overall good. In general, I thought this place was great! The workers were so nice. It was a super hot day and they had out a plate of free watermelon! Super nice. This place was also really cute. Lots of space to sit and chill at.

I started going Playa Bowls in Belmar, but moved back up north. Each location is very comparable to each other. I have no complaints and the Nutella Bowl is delicious!

Service was great! Wasn't too busy, and my açaí bowl was awesome. Loved that I was also able to find parking around 7pm.

The experience reminds me of many of the local, fast-casual restaurants we've enjoyed while visiting the Hawaiian islands - although I didn't see an option to have SPAM with any of the dishes. Place your order at the counter, then have a seat at a high-top table while your food is prepared to order and served in plastic 'to go' containers with disposable eco-friendly forks. The taste and quality of the food does come at a price, as the prices are slightly higher than most of the other fast-casual options in the area, but it's worth it to me (as it should be to you). I had the Loco Moco bowl ($20), comprised of kalua pulled pork, brown rice (substituted for the white rice it should come with), cabbage and carrot slaw, scallions, crispy onions, and topped with a fried egg and kickin' lime sauce, which was VERY tasty. My dining companion had the Shaka Bowl with grilled chicken ($20), comprised of zucchini noodles, carrots, cucumber, scallions, cabbage, pickled onions, mango, and sweet chili sauce, which she really enjoyed. We will definitely be back! PRO TIP: Shaka Kitchen doesn't have a private parking lot, but there is plenty of on-street parking off South Street. Bring change or use the ParkMobile app for the meters ($1 per hour) Monday through Saturday from 8am til 6PM; all street meters are free Monday through Saturday after 6pm and all day on Sunday.
