    Lunch special #2 burrito
    Cheryl D.

The chips were. Just okay. Tasted like bagged chips. The salsa was a bit watery. No chunks. Kind of bland. No hot sauce on the tables at all. Sides are very expensive. $2.30 for sour cream? You can get 16 ounces at the store for less. The menu is large. Lots of choices. We ordered two lunch specials. 11-3 M-F but half of them are egg dishes. We chose the burrito #2 and the speedy Gonzales. Plate was scalding hot. Reached for a napkin and singed a knuckle. Ouch. This thing must've been right under a broiler. I'd prefer my enchilada oven baked at a lower temp to keep the meat juicy and dry the tortilla a bit. Maybe use a metal and wood tray around the plate to contain the heat as other establishments do. The rice was bland. Just meh. The birria taco was very wet and dripping. It was wrapped in foil. Very hot and the soft tortilla was soggy when I picked it up though it held up nicely. Nothing flavorful with the taco. Just lettuce and crumbled white cheese and meat. No salsa or secondary lettuce salad was included. The enchilada was okay. It was really a small burrito that had sauce and cheese melted on top. Enchiladas should be oven baked but this didn't feel like it was and came so quickly that I felt like it couldn't have been done in the oven. The sauce also did not taste homemade. The burrito came with both rice and beans and was large. But instead of being a plain burrito, it was made wet with enchilada sauce and cheese melted on top. Generally burritos are served without anything on top as a general rule. Overall, the price wasn't exorbitant for lunch. $9-11 with no sides added. Sodas are not cheap but two refills are offered. I wanted to love this place but it's more of a "let's hope it works out for them" at this point. They replaced the old Grinderville which had been at that location for many years. I really hope they can bring their A game and make some positive changes. Chips and salsa are not difficult to perfect and good ones go a long way to help the Mexican (American) dining experience. Our server did not speak much English and ignored some questions he didn't understand. I speak Spanish and was waiting for him to simply say that he didn't understand me. I would've been happy to converse in Spanish. He could've asked me to repeat my questions, but didn't. He was kind enough but seemed like he was very tentative about everything. The place was empty at lunch. There is a surcharge for credit cards but he didn't know how much it would be. The tap for the credit card didn't work so it had to be inserted. The place was clean and another couple came, ordered and left while we were dining at leisure. Other than that, no other customers showed up during the lunch hour. I will try it again. I'm hoping things are better next time.

Good service and ambience Great food great staff highly recommend this place . Drinks are exceptional happy hour lime margaritas on the spot

First visit and will happily go again. Food and service were great. We had carnitas and a shrimp dinner, both were delicious.

Came here for dinner and unfortunately left pretty underwhelmed overall…read more The restaurant itself was clean, and service initially started off fine. When we first arrived, the restaurant was not busy. Only a couple other tables occupied, so expectations were fairly high for a smooth experience. Unfortunately, things quickly went downhill. The food took quite a while to come out despite how slow it was. When it finally did, it was first delivered to the wrong table before eventually making its way to us. The food runner then randomly grabbed a ranch from our table and brought it to another table. He seemed potentially new, but overall the service felt very disorganized and clueless, especially considering the restaurant wasn't busy. We ordered the cheese curds to start, and they were disappointing. The breading was mushy and extremely greasy, and the cheese itself tasted low quality rather than the fresh curds you'd expect at a Wisconsin pub. We also ordered several wing flavors since they were on special: garlic parm, buffalo, bourbon BBQ, and lemon pepper. One issue right away was the lack of flavor variety overall on the menu. The wings themselves were inconsistent. Sizes varied dramatically, which clearly affected the cook quality. Some were fried so hard they were like chewing leather, while others had soggy, undercooked skin. Flavor wise the buffalo were almost completely flavorless. The lemon pepper was extremely mild. The garlic parm was probably the best of the group, though still just average. The bourbon BBQ was rough. The sauce tasted like an overly sweet, overly salty cheap jarred glaze rather than an actual house-made BBQ sauce. My wife ordered the Mary Mac burger without a bun and was told extra lettuce leaves could be substituted to make it a lettuce wrap. Instead, it came out with just shredded lettuce. The burger itself was overcooked and lacking flavor. The fries were decent enough, but nothing memorable. Overall, this felt like a place with potential that just missed the mark on both execution and consistency during our visit.

Hubby is always up for a good burger, so we stopped here on our way out of town on a Wednesday…read morenight. Signage outside indicated that they have fish fry on Wednesday night so that was a plus for me. He had a water street melt with chips and fried cheese sticks. He asked for his burger to be cooked medium. The menu indicated his burger had onion spread on it. His burger was not cooked medium but well done. The onion spread was a "sauce overload" and not a pleasant addition to the melt. The cheese sticks were wrapped in a won ton wrap and deep fried. They were served with a marinara. The cheese sticks could have used some type of seasoning to give them flavor. Very bland. I had the fish fry special of fried perch. Mild fishy flavor and definitely frozen. Thin crumb breading that had some type of seasoning. I choose fries, coleslaw, and rye toast. The fries and toast were the best parts. I wanted tartar sauce for my fish but it was so sweet that it wasn't good with the fish. Service was fine. She needed to leave before us and asked if we wanted to close our ticket. We didn't plan on staying as we're traveling so we closed it out. Location was easy to find. Bar area was clean.

Our food came out super fast, everything was hot, fresh, and beautifully prepared, and the staff was incredibly accommodating from start to finish. The food was next level. The beef birria pizza was unreal rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The honey garlic cauliflower was a surprise favorite, crispy with the perfect balance of sweet and savory. We finished with tiramisu, which was light, creamy, and the perfect ending to the meal. Paired it all with a sangria and it was perfection. Honestly, some of the best food I've had, period. IVR is a gem! Amazing flavors, great atmosphere, and top-tier service. Highly recommend and can't wait to come back!

I've visited IVR Bar several times and realized I never submitted the review I wrote. I'm happy…read morethough because after several visits I have more qualities to cover. Warning this will be a long review as a result. My review does have a few recommendations based upon my experience and one negative in #5. 1. Food The food here has consistently been very good. One of our favorites is their butter chicken pizza served on naan bread. It comes with extra butter sauce for dipping, and the flavor and consistency is so good. The pizza is full of chicken and a nice amount of cheese. The only thing I'd recommend is serving the side of butter sauce hotter. It's always much cooler than the pizza, which I've experienced more than once. Their naan bread is always soft and fresh. We've tried both the garlic naan and cheesy naan and both are so good. Buffalo wings and birria tacos served on naan were all delicious. The meat was seasoned and the rice was very good as well. The honey garlic cauliflower appetizer is tasty but the portion is quite small for $14. You'll see the serving spoon in the photo for scale it shows how small the serving is. I think lowering the price could encourage more people to order it. For $14 you might as well get some wings or a 1 topping pizza! 2. Drinks They make excellent drinks. I've had multiple martinis here and have never been disappointed. My husband ordered a Hennessy sidecar that was also very good. I went for their Thursday ladies happy hour where martinis are $5. The only drawback is that only a few specific flavors are included: blueberry, apple, cosmopolitan, and dirty martinis. I had a pineapple lemon drop martini there and hoped to get it again for the happy hour price, but it wasn't included. I think it would help if they advertised which martinis are included in the happy hour promotion so customers know what to expect. 3. Service Service has always been good during my visits. I've never had a bad experience with the staff. The dark skinned host has seated my family several times and is always friendly and welcoming. We're always seated immediately because they're never busy when we go. 4. Atmosphere & Entertainment There's usually about 2-3 other parties in the dinning room and a few patrons at the bar when I've visited. The lighting is dim and the vibe is relaxed. They have plenty televisions throughout the dining room and bar. The dining room has a 4 way TV in the center. If you're into sports they don't miss. They also have a few slot machines near the bar. 5. Cleanliness Overall cleanliness has been acceptable, but there are a few things that could be improved. I have noticed gnats on multiple visits. It's not a swarm but they are noticeable. More so this time with multiple sweet martinis at our table. With them using fresh fruit and syrups for cocktails, I imagine that isn't helping. The bathrooms appear to have been updated and look nice. There wasn't any odor, but the trash can could have been emptied or pushed down. 6. Menu & Communication One area where they could improve is marketing. Their website and social media advertise events or specials without explaining the details. For example, the flyer in my photos show tacos and tequilas night. With flight of tequila samples and tacos for $65/person. How many tacos and tequila samples does one get? How much tequila per sample? What would I be paying for? More social media presence, photos of their food in the happy hour posts and more details of specials would bring in more customers. I'm a Yelp and social media lady! I do a little research before deciding on new spots. I'm not scrolling through 20 posts a restaurant shares to get to food videos or images. I expect the to grab my attention immediately. It's so close to many big offices, factories, and various businesses. They should be busy always. I've seen multiple restaurants come and go in this same building over the last 12 years. I'm hopeful they'll be more present to increase their customer base. Another improvement would be adding more vegan options. When I was avoiding meat and dairy earlier this year, I noticed they listed the Garlic honey cauliflower online as vegan but it was labeled vegetarian on the menu on the table, which could be confusing for someone strictly following a vegan diet. 7. Loyalty Program One thing they do very well is their rewards system. They track points through your credit card, and we've received $5 off simply from returning. That's a great feature that more locally owned restaurants could learn from. So you're wondering if I would go back? Yes, I plan on it. Although I'm hopeful they consider my recommendations. Would I recommend it? Yes the food is good! The service is good! I've never had to wait! If you've never tried Indian food before this is a great place to start. They serve familiar foods with Indian flavors which may be helpful with easing in.

On a weeknight (WED) the girls gathered for happy hour and everyone enjoyed the $2 burger special. Drinks were perfect; it is always a bonus to find a bar that stocks VSQ Coronet Brandy! So many yuppy joints went exclusively to oh too sweet Korbel --but I digress. Happy hour prices/specials were great Returned on Friday to try the fish fry and we were not disappointed. My Mr. Plus 1 tried the seafood combo (scallops, shrimp and fish) and I went with perch. Both were above average for a bar fish fry . The breading is delicate and delicious. Becky, the owner, makes her own german potato salad and homemade potato pancakes...that sealed the deal for Plus 1. Place was hopping, every seat at bar taken with people waiting for tables or enjoying a cocktail afterwards the entire time we were there. Overlook the lack of decor and give it a try. Only minus is the little tables and chairs in eating area ...would like to see more/bigger high top tables in the near future and maybe another tv or two for the sports enthusiasts. This building has seem many bars come and go since it was a popular place to hear a band and dance (DugOut) but I think Belly Up Twice is here to stay!

On one of our visits the guy behind the bar was so loud and basically stood back there and drank lite the whole time. Then a local (I'm assuming) said something to the bartender and he shouted back "F**k you old man"! I asked someone at the bar does the owner know that his employee uses that kind of language? Much to my surprise he told me that the bartender is the owner! Are you kidding me? If you are visiting from out of town or new to town there are a lot better places to go that they don't use that kind of language. Not that I'm a prude or anything because I've used that language...I guess it's more shocking to hear it when you have people in your bar you've never seen. I was going to give it one star but decided I'd give it two because we just moved here and some friends of mine were in town and I thought I'd give them a second chance. We were met by a very nice bartender named Cassie. She was attentive and probably knew as an EMPLOYEE not to talk that way. Anytime someone came in she greeted them. The kicker here? The "owner" was sitting on the other side of the bar playing dice and still using that language and of course drinking miller lite. We'll go when she is working and/or their daytime bartender Ray. He knows a lot about sports and had a great conversation with my husband.
