Date of visit: July 24, 2025 This is near some friends and they just rave about it, so we were excited to give it a try as well. We dropped into Paloma Taco and Tequila on Saturday around 5:30 pm with no reservation. It wasn't super busy, so they were able to seat us, but to be honest the staff was unnecessarily rude/short with us. For not being overly busy, they could have been a little more welcoming. We asked if we could wait to be seated outside because it was a beautiful evening and they quickly said 'it's all booked, you can only sit inside', but then sat another walk-in table out there about 10 min after we had gotten situated. We considered asking to be moved, but didn't want to ruffle anymore feathers. Overall, service was not very polite, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt that they were understaffed and something was off that day. Lucky for them, the food and drink made up for it! I got their higher quality margarita, the Mi Margarita, and it came in a 16 oz glass which was a nice surprise for $12. It had great flavor to it and was very easy to suck down! We shared chips with salsa & queso, the queso was SO good! very good flavor and texture. I was going to go with street tacos but when we asked the waitress what they were known for she said their Paloma Taco Pocket so I went with that and I am so glad I did! Had a great first time visit to this place on a Thursday (5/1/25), late afternoon just before 5:00 PM. It came in a pint glass and was very good. ($7.00) Since the menu obviously is all about their tacos, I ordered three different tacos; carnitas ($5.50), chicken ($5.50) and poke (fish $6.00). They were excellent; prepared with exceptional ingredients and tasted great. The carnitas and chicken tacos were excellent. I particularly liked the chicken best and the fish the least so; if not disappointing. Embarrassingly enough, when leaving, I forgot (senior moment, perhaps? Ouch!!) about the step-up seating arrangement and took a fall, scaring the bejeezus out of the whole restaurant, probably 'cuz I'm kinda a senior (though in my mind, I'm only in my late 30's (wink wink). Thankfully, though I landed between two occupied "two-top" tables but didn't hit anyone or knock any food or drinks from the tables. (phew). I have wanted to try Paloma for a while now, and finally got the chance to stop in! For a weekday night, it was busy! We waited about 20 minutes for a seat at the bar area, but we did get served drinks while we waited. We got their margarita to start while we waited. The staff was all very friendly and attentive and the inside is well decorated and welcoming. Though, when it is colder out, I do wish the waiting area was a little bigger. After getting seated at the bar we ordered chips, salsa, and queso and they were gone in a blink of an eye. We also ordered the house infusion margarita, pineapple jalapeno, yum! The only downside I've found is that Paloma is extremely popular and busy and seating is limited so there is often a wait to get a table or counter space. I'm still kicking myself for waiting so long to try out Paloma when they're less than 10 minutes from my house. I've heard good things about them forever and FINALLY decided to check it out. That being said the indoor seating feels intimate without being crowded. The colors are bright and fun without being gaudy. Managed to show up during happy hour and the classic margarita did not disappoint! If you're a tequila fan you'll be super happy with the 30+ tequila options available as well. I had to laugh reading some of the reviews for Paloma. People complaining that there is too much seasoning? Maybe because I'm from the east coast, and my biggest critique with midwest food, having lived in Chicago since 2017, is that there is never enough seasoning, but c'mon people! This might be the very best Mexican food in the midwest! Is there going to be a wait to get a seat? If you're not there before 6 on a weeknight, almost certainly yes. But, once you're seated and order, food is brought out promptly and fresh. I could not have been happier with the options and execution of the dishes at Paloma. So many vegan options and opportunities to alter a taco or burrito. Everything comes out hot, fresh, and seasoned to absolute perfection. The crispy tofu burrito, in particular, was out of this world. Perfect balance of texture, heat, and flavors, the kind of thing where you wish you weren't so full because you'd love to have another. Just incredible. This is how Mexican food should be made, and I am so glad I stumbled upon it this week. Paloma is now an absolute must whenever I'm in Milwaukee. First time Paloma visitor and WOW! Visited on a Wednesday evening with a close friend (both first timers) and we were blown away. It is a small restaurant, perfect for a date night with charming decor and good vibes/people! We were sat at the bar and were quick to tell the staff that we were first timers who would appreciate any recommendations. We ordered our drinks ($5 for an NA cocktail is quite the deal IMO), and both were delish! The staff came back and asked us if we had decided on a appetizer but we had been chatting/catching up so we hadn't really considered - she was SO KIND to just offer to "surprise us with something amazing". We took her up on the offer and OMG, amazing. Our appetizer was the hot chips, add avocado and corn - the people next to us turned to us and said, woah we're getting our hot chips like that next time! SO SO GOOD!! And so fun, to be surprised with something that was so yummy. We both also got tacos thereafter, I oped for the cajun shrimp taco while my friend got the pineapple carnitas with queso crunch taco shell - you DEFINITELY need to try the queso crunch taco shell. That was another recommendation by the staff that we were sure glad they provided. Overall, sitting at the bar, we had like 3-4 people help to take our orders/ask us about our meal/assist which isn't exactly the common thing at restaurants, normally you have 1 server who is checking it but it was kind of fun to have everyone taking interest in your experience and prepared to help make it as enjoyable as possible. I have to make a review I'd rather not make, but here goes. I'm a huge fan of Paloma's (both locations). Until today. Paloma Taco and Tequila has made a huge mistake. I had a craving so went there for lunch. They have (now HAD) the absolutely best pork carnitas burritos. I'm telling you, this pork was amazingly different and delicious. Add a smothering of cheese, pico and cilantro and you have an incredibly yummy meal (even w/o the cheese it's amazing). Well, as of today, that is no longer. The pork carnitas are gone. You now get pork & poblanos (read - VERY little flavor and about 1/2 the meat. And for some odd reason, they added a plate sized cheese tuile on top if the burrito and put the sauce on top of that instead of the burrito. It looked like a pancake on top of the burrito. I wished I'd taken a picture - it was just so bizarre! I LOVED Paloma's but they really ruined some of the best pork burritos/tacos etc you can get in the city. Such a shame. read more

We always snag a table at the bar area, it's elevated from the rest of the restaurant and gives you a first row view of the kitchen as they prepare the food. What a pleasant experience this was! We were shopping in the area and wanted to grab some lunch. At the time we were still not 100% comfortable sitting indoors with crowds, so when a lovely little patio with available seating showed up while driving, we decided to give Paloma a long overdue try. The staff was super friendly and attentive. We got mixed drinks, appetizer and entrees and everything was great. It's hard to compare to other places like Bel Air because the menus are too unique, so I'll just say that our need to eat and our love for Mexican food were both very much satisfied! I came for the tacos and they did not disappoint. I tried four different tacos and here is how I rate them - first, the carnitas. Just amazing flavor. Second, the brussel sprout taco, which you have to try to believe it. Third was the spicy chicken and fourth was the shrimp taco. One mistake I made was ordering a couple of these with the flour tortillas. Not that they were bad - I thought the shrimp taco would be more appropriate with a flour taco. But I should have ordered everything with the corn tortilla. These are not just run of the mill corn tortillas. You just have to trust me and try them. So good. We had originally tried Paloma shortly after they opened and the experience was...not good (one hour wait for simple food, etc). We decided to give them another shot last night and I'm glad we did - a good experience all around. We grabbed seats at the bar and had prompt and friendly service. If you want to sit at a table they have maybe 4-5 so not a place for large groups. We started with the bean & quest dip which was absolutely great - creamy and full of flavor. Definitely going to order this again. The mister had a burrito that was so large and packed with good stuff that he took 1/2 home (this literally never happens). I had tacos - 1 spicy chicken and 1 chorizo. I love that you can get them "naked" on lettuce which is great for those trying to eat lower carb. The spicy chicken really is spicy (yay) but I ended up liking the chorizo better. Overall the prices are reasonable and the servings are generous. We started with an order or chips and salsa with guacamole and the cheese queso and bean dip. First, yes, you're paying for your chips and salsa but the quality of chips is waaaay better than your run of the mill - these are fried on site. My only critique of this part of the menu os that with 6 of us, I didn't get to try the salsa and guacamole the portion size was pretty small. We would have prob needed 3 orders just for everyone to try it. The queso bean dip was very good. You can order it without the beans but why?? If my nephew who has autism can eat them, so can you (unless you have an allergy). So I guess there was a large option for the chips and salsa. Now for the tacos - what I didn't know was that the corn tortillas as slightly fried which helps keep them from falling apart. I ordered flour for my elderly mom thinking the corn would fall apart and she ended up missing out ... oops. I will post pics of our food. Please check out their menu online - I've been told the Brussels sprout taco is outstanding - but I could only eat so many so it will be in my list for next time. I finally found the opportunity to check it out while catching up with an old friend for dinner. We were there on a Tues but I'm not sure that they have any sort of taco Tues going on. We each tried 3 items. I had a taco, tostada and Mexican street corn and my friend had 3 "naked" tacos (no shell). All the food was authentic and delicious. We sat outside which was great on a warm night. Inside is mostly a bar so fairly small, but it's lively, colorful and service was thoughtful. Now I want to add my own experience about their food I ordered via curbside pickup and noticed the place was busy. I ordered the brussel sprouts tostada, al pastor taco, and elotes. The tostada was tasty, although I didn't know how to eat a tostada without the whole tortilla crushing on me. That means the tostada's loaded. It was so loaded and with a few spoonfuls of the elite, I was already full and didn't get to try the al pastor taco yet. Will update the review once I try it. It won't be as fresh though. We got there right at dinner time and since there was a wait time, we decided to sit outside on the benches with our yummy drinks.
