Great indoor jungle gym designed to look like a castle. Staff is friendly and helpful. They are standing next to the entrance of the play structure but there is no door/gate. There is parking on the street only. They have a rather large cafe and bar (beef and wine) with more offerings then most places and not just gross fried food. The seating area for parents/cafe is as big as the play structure. It's massive. The open a " garage door " to help keep air circulating. There are also several TVs on for parents. Generally speaking, this is a really wonderful establishment that is suited at catering for adults and children alike. There is a large indoor play structure and it's big enough to accommodate dozens and dozens of kids. Before you can send your child to play in the structure, you do have to fill out a basic waiver online. It's a flat fee of $15 per kid for the entire day regardless of how long you stay. Kids do have to remove their shoes before they enter so I highly recommend that you bring at least one good pair of socks. For parents, there are plenty of tables out front of the structure, where you can observe your child while they play. The tables don't really allow for unobstructed visualization of your kid, but you can see them every so often as they approach the front of the structure. There is a full snack bar that includes your basic treats and some simple foods like pizza and appetizers. There's also wine by the glass and beers on tap. There is a small dedicated parking lot in the back of the facility, but it fills up very quickly on weekends. Otherwise, you're subject to to street parking which has hourly costs. The bathrooms are mostly clean and they accommodate children, as expected. The food is above average and the prices are fair. The place does feel a little bit chaotic at peak hours, but my child always has a lot of fun and I generally don't have to feel too worried about their safety while they play. They have a few dedicated rooms for birthday parties and events, which I have never used. They also have very large garage door panels on the walls that can be opened when the temperatures are warm to lift and allow for better ventilation from the exterior. I do worry a bit about the cleanliness of the entire place and I wish they had more hand sanitizer stations throughout the business. The kiddo absolutely adores this romp room! 4 stars vs 5 due to cleanliness. Do you love seeing the kiddo happy? Do you want somewhere for them to play in the rain? Do you want a beer/wine and to leisurely watch while this occurs? Then this is your place! OMSI has a similar offering but without the adult bevies or grub. Thankfully, this place has both drinks and food. The food prices are a bit higher but kind of goes with the territory. I also appreciate their hours. Accommodates the early risers and the after work night owls. I only wish maybe they'd clean more often. That many kids in one area can spur some pretty rough nightmares! $10 on weekdays, $15 on weekends for an entire day and you only pay for the kids. Was on a trip with my kids and found this place for my kids to be able to get some much needed energy out. The play place isn't that big and is mostly for smaller kids younger than 8years old I would say. They have a lot of climbing, slides and a ball area with shooting foam balls. They also have a designated area for children 3 years and under. They have a large area indoor and outdoor for the adults to sit and chill while kids are playing. They also have a pretty decent menu that looks great with a variety of drinks and food. They also have all the snacks and juices kids love. They also have alcoholic drinks like beer and wine available for purchase. They have a sign on door that says no outside food or beverages. They also have two areas for parties separated for larger groups like bday parties or such. Parking is free in the back parking lot. But they don't have a lot of spots back there. Overall I would recommend this place for the kids and adults to be able to have a drink and chill. read more

It's an alright spot. Nothing particularly special, but the food was decent and the coffee was very good. It's not sparkling clean andone of the bathroom sinks was out of order, but the play structure seemed to be safe and decently maintained. Overall not a bad experience, particularly for my 3 year old nephew visiting from out of town and needing something to do, but I wouldn't necessarily go out of the way to take them there in the future. I LOVE this place!!! Our kids came when they were younger. I wondered if they'd still enjoy it at age 10 on a visit to Portland - and they did. They ran around for 4 hours straight, made friends, and had a blast! We also liked the food. The pizza is housemade, and the lemonade was made from scratch in front of us. I enjoyed the veggie tray with hummus and appreciated having a glass of wine in the evening. The wifi was fast and free, so I was able to work the entire time. As a play place and activity to do with your kid in a rainy city like portland, I'd definitely give it a 5 stars for kids 10 and under. As a whole facility some points get taken off because of the cleanliness of the facility. I've been going here for the last like 6-7 years. First as a nanny and now with my own lil guy. We love the designated toddler area as it's less hectic. I personally don't mind parenting someone else's kid if I see big kids in there though lol. But the bigger side is also fun if you have a kid that's big enough to do all the things. The food isn't five stars but they never claimed to be. Nice restaurant. I am leaving this review in hopes that management will take it seriously... Please. Clean. Your. Facility. I mean at least WALK through the playground a little bit before opening. We were probably some of the first customers and there was poop smeared all over the stairs at the very front of the playground. It was dried so obviously it had been there for awhile. Dirty socks left in there too. I've taken my child here a couple times but this was the last straw. This was not our first time experiencing this kind of filth in this environment. I've seen Chuck E. cheese's cleaner than this. I'm not really sure if you guys need volunteers but I am 100% betting parents in the community would love to help you guys out! This location is located by downtown Portland and we parked and walked to the entrance which is on the other side. For one hour, it was $11 and that included one child and an adult. I think we even played for longer than that because my son did not want to leave and he enjoyed every bit of their toddler area. They had so much to do there and the kids were kept busy for hours on end. I would want lights inside of the toddler area since it is a little dark and they can trip over balls or other items. Update: My original review of the unsafe dusty filthy environment was never once checked into by management or the owner of PLAYDATE PDX. The Sharp Metal clamp on the Airguns was at THROAT/NECK level of my3 year old child. This could've caused severe irreversible damage and trauma to my child and others! How unfortunate disgusting of them. I have reported Playdate PDX to BBB. Before we left Playdate PDX I requested to speak with management about the issue and was told a manager was not on staff at the time. It's been over a month. Been here so many times for my little toddler. I love that they have a cafe, hand sanitizer everywhere. I just hope that they do a good job of cleaning at least every night but I don't wanna dive deeper and find out they don't lol but my kid loves running around in there and we stay for about an hour or two. The $14 all day is pretty worth it, it just starts adding up with my cafe tab thank goodness for beer and wine! But i usually stick with the chai latte's and snacks. The pizza is really good! And I love that they have kid meal options as well. Just went yesterday and they are having a "STOP COVID PARTY" and it was such a great surprise! Get your booster or vaccine and your kid plays for free all day, plus you get $10 off the cafe for each person vaccinated. I have my son at home on Mondays and we usually try to find something fun to do. So this Monday we tried out Playdate PDX since some neighbors talked about it - man, it was so crowded on a Monday! My son is about 2.5 yrs old but he is a little bit introverted so we usually would stay in the toddler area. The toddler area they had was small and also really dark? It felt like a cave, my son stayed there for not even 5 mins and wanted to venture. The area with the shooting foam balls was fun, but again there were too many bigger kids and my son got ran into twice. He's fine and tried to climb up the back to get on the shooting stand but it was too crowded. I asked if he wanted to go up to the toddler slide, but he didn't want to because there were all this foam blocks left there. I was already sweating bullets. I was jealous of all the other parents who were sitting around drinking coffee and beers. We paid $13.50 for the hour and we left after 15 mins because it was too chaotic. We will come again later when my son is over 5! It is not fun for young kids, esp when you have to be on their tail the whole time. read more

First off I'd like to make it clear that I've been taking my 6 year old here for a long time and feel like I can't write an honest review. I've lived downtown for three and half years and when I found this place I was so excited. Pre covid- I loved this place. My daughter always had a blast and I've never had any problems regarding the safety of my child while she plays. Yes the line at the cafe is usually long and tedious. But when you're paying 8.00-12.00 dollars to let your kid play for hours while you relax with a beer or do work on your laptop it's not a huge deal to wait in the line and wait for your food. It was worth it. Today- My experience here today was confusing and quiet frankly criminal. Me and my daughter entered and we were questioned about WHY we were there in the first place. Um excuse me? I'm a paying customer I'm here to receive the service of my child using the play structure??? Then I was told that they are doing 1 hour limits. Um what? So let me get this straight, I'm paying 11.00 for 1 hour? When before I'd pay that same amount and could leave on our own time? So they are kicking people out after they paid money to get in after 1 hour?? Especially when the line for food and drinks takes 30 minutes to get through? Is this a joke? I won't be returning until they can provide the service we are paying for. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is our food was decent and I know what this place used to be and can be again. 3 years ago I would recommend this place hands down. Great service during our visit on Friday 6/15 for my son's birthday. At first it was a little bumpy due to us bringing in our cake, but the staff was friendly and accommodating. We had done his last 2 birthdays there and rented the rooms. This year we wanted to only do a few friends and cake, which ended up being more then expected. The staff helped us out with plates and other supplies and made us feel very welcomed. We will continue to service them and keep coming back for regular play dates with my son as we have been doing for the last 4-5 years. A safety hazard. This place is often run by very little staff. The play area has dark areas. There is no age limit for kids so if an 11 year old wants to beat the crap out of a 4 year old, there's a good chance no one will see. There's a play area where you can request songs. the 11 year olds can request songs like "wet ass pussy," and the staff have no clue. I asked staff to change the music and it kept happening. I showed staff the child that got beat up (not even my child and I was in tears) and all was said was "be more gentle." I'm debating on whether or not to call child protective services. My biggest complaint about this place is that my kid drags me around in the dang place structure and my 30+ year old knees are NO MATCH for that plastic. Also the food is pretty garbage but it's aimed towards the low brow toddler culture so I get that but man it looks like blech. Other than that, I like it. My 2.5 year has been coming here since he was just a tick under 2 and always has a good time roaming around the play structure, loves the ball area and we as parents enjoy sitting down with a pint or a glass of wine when he allows it. I know kids can be rough but I don't expect this place to be a dang referee. The staff tends to be very nice but not enough on hand to do much. I mean what is it that you expect an employee to do? Discipline your child if they are a jerk. If the parent won't, why would you expect a stranger too? I was presently surprised when I walked in the door with my 4 year old granddaughter. Having raised four kids, I've been to my share of play places such as these. It's is a big building with huge garage doors for front windows. I thought this a cool because I noticed they opened them for some fresh air. The first thing that I noticed was the cleanliness. Many of these places are so dirty I'd never let my kid inside the door let alone the dreaded ball pit. There are a ton of tables for the parents to hang out at and for kids to eat food during a play break. Socks are a MUST which is great. They don't allow you without them. Same with the parents who are allowed to play with the kiddos. They provide shoe cubbies at the front of the play area. Prices were reasonable. $4.00 for everyone over 4. Under 3 free. Prices double on the weekends. Adults aren't charged even though they are allowed inside. All the food they offer is baked. They don't have a fryer. They offer a nice assortment of things such as pizza, breakfast items, wraps, and typical kid fare: hotdogs, corn dogs, nuggets, etc. They also provide beer & wine for the adults. My two year old had so much fun! She did not want to leave! She was everywhere (which also means I was everywhere), 3 stories to this structure and she was only scared at a few parts. But only because she's never seen anything like this. The shooting ball pit was her favorite. Thank you for hosting the vaccine event! One area of opportunity I could recommend, placing tvs so that (ahem) husband's dont have to turn their backs to watch the game. It would be so awesome to have tvs like hanging above the play structure or just off to the left. The other being more lights on the toddler section. That area was quite dark. One room of the play area is a large space with dozens and dozens of semi-hard foam balls lying on the ground. I watched kids use these balls to hurt other kids, by throwing them as hard as possible while only mere inches away from their victims. There was no staff or attendant present to speak to about this mean-spirited and hurtful behavior. There were no posted rules about correct and incorrect ways to use these balls. This room appears to have a purpose as a place where kids can load the foam balls into air-powered guns and launch them. However, no kids were using these guns, because it just made you a sitting duck for the mean kids who simply wanted to hurt people. read more

The staff seems overwhelmed though. There is no-one on the front desk very often. And the party rooms need serious updating! I had my daughter's third birthday party here, simple because I knew she always had fun in the play structure. There was no other reason to choose this place though! The party rooms look very dark and the couches etc in the rooms are torn and ugly! The walls are filled with murals and you can't stick anything on the murals themselves. You can't choose which of the three party rooms you would like to use- they will just assign it to you on the day itself. The host assigned to us for the party was quite prompt though- showed up on time, kept taking our food orders regularly and getting out food in time. That was one saving grace. For the second time in a week my 3 1/2 -year-old son was beaten up by another child in the play area and staff were completely clueless on what to do. This place is literally run by children watching children. My son emerged from the player area running up to me tears and blood streaming down his face with multiple contusions and cuts because apparently another child in the play area who had since run somewhere else wanted to play with a stuffed horse. I completely understand that you can't control children, kids will be kids. What I do not understand is the complete lack of any sort of protocol. Everyone their look like a complete deer in the headlights. I am mediately went in with my son to try to find the individual that did it and was rather unsuccessful. Buy this time several minutes had passed, a parent, not a staff member finally came up to us with a napkin and some water so that we could wash the blood off of my sons face. Seeing that your staff was rattled and had literally no idea what to do, I tried to enter the play area with my son in arm bleeding from his face so that he could hopefully identify the kid who hurt him and I was promptly blockaded by your staff from entering. Even more infuriating and the thing that finally set me off was one of the first things out of the senior staff member there was in extremely defensive and snarky re-citation of the disclaimer that we signed a waiver and that the play area is supposed to be monitored by parents. Understood but not the time nor the place to throw that out there. She then followed that up immediately with you mentioned that something similar happened last week, why were you not in there with him? Wow... right, wrong, or even anywhere in between, that is the conversation you have with someone after things have calm down and you've done what needs to be done to rectify the situation. For that to be the very first thing out of your staff's mouth after that happened to my son in your establishment, you guys should be shut down. There is supposedly supposed to be three staff members inside the play area monitoring what was happening, there we're not, and in the past including that day when there have been, they were more busy playing with each other, throwing balls at one another and running around the establishment like the children playing inside of it then watching the kids. There has to be some sort of protocol that takes place when a child is hurt or injured in your establishment regardless of whether not it was due to your play structures or to another child/adult in there playing however if there is one it obviously was not followed. When I began asking the staff members how many people are supposed to even be allowed in the play center at a single time, "what is the maximum capacity?" The answer I received was 45. There were well over 100+ Shortly after I was told by the same person oh wait no, it's 300 people... let's be honest they had no clue. I pride myself on having an incredibly cool head even in very intense situations and circumstances and I am not proud of the way that I exited your establishment however the way that entire situation was handled by your staff, that could have completely been avoided and de-escalated, but when you trust the staff of your establishment two at the very least provided a sub optimal safe play area for children to plan and in the event that something bad does happen for the first response to be to try to CYA instead of to help is shocking. In any business when things go south is the perfect opportunity to rise above and create a loyal promoter and advocate for your business by handling it the right way. To say that this was a missed opportunity would be the understatement of the century. When you were at a public pool and somebody's hurt a lifeguard blows the whistle and everybody's out of the pool so that they can assess the situation and figure out what to do from there. In order for this place to stop the Chaos for three seconds and deal with an emergency, i fear that there would have to be a corpse. I do not blame you or your staff for what happened yes that would be ridiculous however how your staff handled the situation and the very obvious lack of planning coordination and training amongst them was nothing short of astonishing Ann would be guaranteed to send noches Mia but any parent from 1 to 11. I would advise parents out there to avoid this place and find a better alternative we're at least the staff on hand or able to run the place adequately and handle situations as they come up as to be expected in this type of establishment. My son and I were treated as though we were the ones with the problem. My wife and I will be discussing tonight how you will be hearing from us. read more

Brought my 2 children here to play. They are 7 and 9 and they absolutely loved it. Basically this place is a huge jungle gym maze like structure. Keep in mind that you do have to check on your kids. The workers there are not there to supervise your children and they are a lot of kids running around and playing tag. We didn't experience any bullying, but many of the children to get into ball fights and they do have a lot of child disagreements. Check on your children occasionally.
