I was a bit suss when we pulled up. Mainly the area. There was some dude yelling at people as they drove past and it was just kind of an awkward first impression. You gotta pay to park so there's that. It's $11 for an hour, which if you're a parent you realize how dumb it would be to pay for ONLY an hour. It's $14 something for all day. Just remember about your car if you're staying longer than 4 hours. Which if you are, kudos to you super parents. You gotta keep an eye on your own kids which in my opinion is best. WEAR GYM CLOTHES!! I can't stress this enough. I went dressed in my typical attire and I must say that I left soaked in sweat. It's not really that much of an exercise I mean you're climbing and shit, it's mainly just a lot of people and the body heat man. So dress accordingly. We only stayed for about 2.5 hours, mine is almost 3, but there was still so much we didn't get to do. I feel like it's a great spot for birthdays, or just to tire em out. We had plans to go to the zoo, but due to the rain we decided we'd do this instead. I think at first we were both disappointed. I booked an appointment for a covid booster shot here and was really surprised when I went in and discovered lots of folks dining in/not wearing masks. I wish it had been made clearer that this is a facility with indoor dining. One of the nurses/techs also had their mask down in the booster shot area. Was overall a really uncomfortable experience and I wouldn't recommend to anyone for a shot at least. Our grandchildren all three of them had an amazing time they did not want to leave! We got a break from kid watching as it's very safe, and you can view them sitting at a comfortable chair. The children loved it as there is such a wide variety of things that challenge them. They came out for a break, we ordered food and cupcakes, and they went back in to play. Compared to most play centers this one is not decrepit. My 3 year old loves it, mainly because he loves dragons and he gets to go into a dragon head. It cost $4.40 for him to play midweek, its double on weekends. My boy is very cautious and this place feels safe, with plenty of space to avoid the hyperactive unsupervised kids. Food is ok, we shared the pesto chicken panini which was pricey at $10, and charges an automatic 10% surcharge, almost lost a star for that, they should just charge $11. read more

First time coming here & most likely are last. Pros- nice play area , section for toddlers, lots of seating for parents, not filthy, pricing. Cons - hard to find parking, the food that we purchased was pretty awful (my kids would not even eat their pizzas) , the staff is not involved at all! The kids just run completely wild trampling over each other & this visit was on a Wednesday evening, I can only imagine on the weekends. The price of the food was pretty high as well. This is my first and most likely the last time visiting this establishment. First off, it's kinda weird to serve alcohol at a kids play place? But I suppose it's for customers who take up table space that come to do homework... also.. at a children's play place? Odd. The cost is cheaper on the weekdays and on the weekends it doubles. The children are not monitored by staff or their parents, quite frankly. There are two sides; one side is for children 3yrs of age and up, and the other side is for toddlers. I thought this was a great idea as my little one is barely over 1yo I figured she'd be safe and not get trampled on by the bigger kids! WRONG. People do not watch their kids and like I said above, there aren't any staff members monitoring the area so bigger kids are climbing on foam things made for small children along with pushing, shoving, kicking their way down the baby slide. Let's talk about food.. or lack thereof. The menu is simple, finger food and coffee. Along with beers on tap. (Again, odd). I ordered tater tots, children's juice, and shoestring fries. Inexpensive.. you would think it would take maybe 30 mins, the place was pretty packed. Nooo I waited and hour and 13 mins! For fried foods and a cup of juice! I mean.. seriously. A diner serving a full plate of food maybe MAYBE I would be okay with that, but some fries? On top of that parents are getting drunk and lounging around like they were in their living rooms. (Although I will say, Portland is a different atmosphere than AK. ) The play structure for toddlers was dirty and lacking and DARK. And the older kids had a larger play structure. Food is okay. I can not say enough how unacceptable this place is. My child was playing inside and another kid targeted my child. He ripped off their mask, punched them and proceeded to stand over my child (who was on the ground crying) and stomp/kick them repeatedly. My child came to me for protection which is when I heard about it. The "manager" (Ryan) talked to the dad of the kid who said it didn't happen that way. Another parent came over to share that they saw it happen and were really concerned for my child. At that point the Dad said they would talk to their child. After that the same child blocked my child from entering the play structure and chased them out of the area. My child was very scared and was too afraid to play anymore because they said "they'll just come after me again". It was horrible. I went to Ryan again and he said "it's a he said she said situation" but didn't even bother talking to that child. He said the other kid could stay and my child would just have to avoid them. Now my child is too afraid to return and Ryan said he will not refund the punch card I purchased. We can not return as my child was assaulted and the business is standing by the behavior. We had been going to play date pdx off and on for years mostly due to convenience. The last time we went though, another child knocked my child down, ripped their mask off, and kicked them repeatedly while they cried on the ground. This was witnessed by another parent who backed my kid's story but the manager said there was nothing they could do about it. That other child subsequently threatened my child with more harm if they came back in the play structure while physically blocking them from entering and now my child is too scared to go back. I brought my girlfriend and two boys here so the boys could play. My kids are enjoying every moment of the freedom in the play area. They have some sort of a "build a bear" thing set up with zero signage for it to tell you how it works or pricing, I found the annoying because my boy kept asking about it. Ok, they have a huge snack/drink bar set up with an amazing menu that's very kid friendly, BUT, they are sooo understaffed it took and hour to get a wrap and salad!!! Not to mention they charge $9.50 for the salad! The biggest plus to this place is it doesn't smell like little kid feet and sweat! Today was my first time visiting with my 15 month old son and I had an experience similar to the other reviewers. The toddler play area is not enforced and there are a lot of bigger kids that run in and out of there. My son was pushed down and choked by an older child whose parents were nowhere to be found. I pulled the child off of my son, who was noticeably shocked at having been penned down on the floor and choked with both hands by what looked to be a six-year-old. My son started to cry, and as I took him out, not a single person came up to check on us. I guess neither the staff nor this kid's parents were watching. I will never go back here, for the same reasons I won't take my dog to a dog park. People let their kids run wild here, and it's very easy for smaller children to get hurt. I noticed that there were no public responses from the business to the bad reviews. Do they not know, or not care, that their play area is too dangerous for toddlers? I don't care that I signed a waiver. Consumers can't sign away their rights, especially when there is obvious neglect or indifference. read more

As I sit here painfully on a heating pad nursing my bruised tailbone from one trip down that slide I have very mixed feelings about this place. But I'm going to err on the side of safety here folks and say take a hard pass on this place. Yes I saw the sign saying be careful on the play structure, yes the worker told me when going down the slide to not go too fast. But try as I could, with my three year old on my lap, I couldn't slow us down enough on that second drop to avoid ending the ride wondering if my tailbone was actually broken or just excruciatingly bruised? I had no desire to go flying down the slide, I'm a pretty cautious person. I tried to go down safe and slow as I and my child hadn't been down it before. Then after our first, only and last trip I hobbled over to the three and under area to lay down and not move for awhile while my child played. In the span of 15 minutes I watched three other adults with children on their laps eat $hit as I had, one of which was a mother who took AWHILE to finally painfully get up. I'm sure they all saw the sign and were warned as well. While my son enjoyed playing there, as an RN I feel that it is negligent for the owners to keep such a dangerous piece of equipment open for others to potentially get hurt on. This isn't just a simple piece of typical playground equipment. How do I know? Because in my 37 years I have never hurt myself or seen others in a short time span hurt themselves while using a piece of equipment AS IT WAS INTENDED. You sit down on the slide... then while staying seated you SLIDE down to the bottom. Pretty cut and dry. Here are the following reasons why this place deserves 1 star: 1. They raised their fees, but not the quality of play structures or service. 2. Since they don't allow outdoor food, if you want to make the most of the fee and play all day, you'll have to eat here. (Not inherently bad, until you read #3). 3. The food is terrible and over priced. It's mostly heated up frozen food served by unhappy, grumpy employees. Very few healthy vegetarian options. 4. It's dirty. The tables where you sit and eat are never wiped down. Every time I've come in I have to ask them for a rag to wipe the table. A couple times a nice employee came to wipe it herself, but most often it's like today- where they hand me the rag and I use sanitizing foam and water to clean the surfaces. read more

Yes awesome. Great facility in the heart of the Pearl. The play structure is amazing. We bought a yearly pass and we have been there 10 times since they opened. The food is good, the place is clean, and kids LOVE the actual play structure. The staff ranges from very warm and lovely to mildly harried. However, most of the staff is fabulous. Last week my toddler spilled a huge cup of milk and they were mopping with a smile in less than 2 minutes. I'm sure they are used to mopping spills, but still, it's nice when they don't make you feel awful about it. Also, they have really good Stumptown coffee. The cons are few and I think they will work themselves out as the management gets their flow down. For example, the food is tasty, but sometimes the wait can be pretty lengthy. I think it has to do with the staff seeming overwhelmed. Sometimes most of the tables will remain unbussed for some time, or there will be no one behind the counter for a little bit. Another con, and for the owners I am sure this is a plus, is on the weekends it is PACKED. Like packed beyond capacity. And there doesn't seem to be an age limit. So there can be 10 year old kids fighting over the same slide or whatever with a 2 year old. It gets to be a lot. But when there are less people the place is bliss. We have recently moved to the area and are so excited to explore new weekend activity options - Playdate PDX was one of the many options that came up as I was doing my research. Despite the mixed reviews on Yelp, I decided to give it a try. My 6 year old was instantly excited the moment we walked in, there were two birthday parties going on and loads of kids were already on the loose in the indoor playground. The price is reasonable if you get the punch card deal, and knowing we will probably be back again, I decided to get the 10 visits punch card (10 visits for $70, versus $14 per single visit). I don't expect the noise level to be anywhere low in a indoor playground, the fact they have seating and food options available makes this a true destination for playdates - both for kids and parents. The food and drinks were alright and reasonably priced for where we are. My overall experience was not the best because a few parents had truly let their kids loose everywhere, there were several kids from the birthday parties running around in the seating space, while blowing their kazzos very close to strangers. While this has nothing to do with Playdate PDX itself, I think some floor management could have assisted with the situation. Needless to say, we will be back again, but hopefully not surrounded by kids fueled by birthday cakes and sweets. read more

There is a small free parking lot outside the building, but it only has room for four cars. When you come in the building, you have to put your name and number for contact tracing. They bill you for everything at the end of your visit. They require kids to take off their shoes in the play area. The menu doesn't have as many items on it as it used to. There are no quesadillas or wraps available anymore. The pizza was good, but the fries could use more salt, and I think it's a rip off that they charge extra for ranch dressing. I have read a lot of the reviews here and I feel like people have been unfair. Either their expectations are off or those folks don't get out much! It is a play space for kids that also serves coffee, good pizza, healthy snack options and beer! They also have complimentary water to keep kids hydrated. There are couches for those with older, kind kids, so parents can sip a cappuccino and read or catch up with a friend. There is a party rental space and a separate place for toddlers. Sure it gets busy, if you don't like that sort of thing, have a plan b. There are sanitizing stations which is more than you can say for other places. Our kids love it and so do I. This place is really great my daughter loves it! The drinks and food are kinda spendy tho so make sure you eat before you go here. Got my daughter a juice for 2.95 and it was the smallest juice I seen. Coffee was good tho! Kids must wear socks when in here but they sell socks as well! Only 2.00 We usually go here anytime we go to Portland. It's a great way to let the kids take out all their energy. I follow my daughter around in the playground because no one really watches over them. There is a 3yr and younger zone as well. On top of it being super accommodating, their play place is seriously every kids dream come true: from big bumpy slides, to a killer ball room, to a light up dance floor. I wouldn't recommend this place for the teeny ones: I'd say 20+ months old or it's a waste. (Unless you have a super stable, walking 12 month old!) Come early for parking and get some good play before it crowds up, come on a weekday for reasonable priced admission. We got there 20 minutes after opening and there was still plenty of available seating and service didn't take long at all. It was 6$ for both kids and while I tried to stay close by there was a LOT of parents hanging out at the check in area and half of it was taken up by a glowing foam machine it seems like there would be way less confusion near the entrance if there was another gap for an exit and not the "build a bear" station that probably gets used once a year when some random birthday party parent decides to make it #bestdayever status. My kiddos had a blast (5 and 3) We ordered a muffin that was a bit dry, probably sat in the case overnight, but it was chocolate so my kids hit it. overall we do like it here. the prices are great for kids to play, especially with their summer deal of half off admission m-f. my kids like the play structure, my husband and i love the beer/wine/cider and comfy chairs. but the food is a joke. today i ordered from the kids menu, and wasn't mad about the overpriced items until they arrived- $1.25 for 8 grapes. literally 8 grapes. never mind that the grapes were actually moldy, i just can't make sense of $1.25 for 8 grapes. also $1.25 for 5 carrot sticks, which were all white from how dried out (old) they were. unreal. they were friendly and quick to replace the grapes and carrot sticks with other items from the kids menu, which i appreciate. but those carrots were OBVIOUSLY gross and they were willing to send them out to me. that's unacceptable. on previous visits we've ordered pizza which was good enough, and didn't mind it being overpriced for the total package of the experience here. i respect and understand the "no outside food/drinks" rule, i guess i'll just plan to feed my kids before we visit next time. read more

Brought my toddler here during our PNW vacation. She is used to indoor playgrounds and since it rained a lot of our trip we wanted to do something special for her. While the price is extremely cheap, the area for toddlers is so small and tiny, and not regulated. There were older kids in the toddler space playing very rough and holding toys hostage. My daughter bored quickly and we moved into the bigger kids area. My husband is 6' and was claustrophobic in the tight spaces so I had to chase her around, mind you I was 7 months pregnant at the time). My daughter grew bored even with the big kid area after about 40 minutes total, so we ended up leaving. I wish there was more supervision to prevent the little ones from being bullied by the older kids, but I guess you get what you pay for. read more

Came on a Friday afternoon. Place was decently crowded but not overwhelming crowded where you felt claustrophobic. Plenty of street/parking lot spots. Brought a three year old, so it was $4 for unlimited play. I would say it was definitely worth it! The adults can go in the play structure with their kids. Be ready for a workout and crawling through small holes. Play structure was big and looked clean to me. Lots of activities to do within the structure including a colorful dance floor. There is a small baby/toddler section, but I would recommend only coming if your kid is 3 and up, otherwise not really worth it. It got a little crazy at times, the bigger kids (6+) did not really pay attention to the smaller ones, and pushed them out of the way/cut in front of them. So just keep a close eye on them and you should be fine. Me and the kid had a lot of fun, we were there for about an hour and a half, than we were to tired to play anymore, well I was a little tired, he could have played more! I've taken my daughter here a few times and we've always had a blast and no issues. She decided to have her 6th birthday party here. I had been planning the party for over a month. I called about a month prior to ask questions. The lady on the phone was helpful and sweet. I wasn't able to pay the deposit to reserve the room until the 1st of March, but she offered to reserve the room for me anyways with a note saying we'd pay in person on day of..perfect! So I call back about a week later on the 1st to pay the deposit on it, and the lady on the phone says they have no reservations for us on any day at any time..okay super frustrating! The day and time we had originally planned for and told everyone was now taken. The only other day they had was the next day, Sunday. So we took it and paid the deposit. For the next couple weeks, they were very hard to get ahold of and wouldn't return calls. When I did finally get ahold of them, I wanted to put more money towards the party, but they said if the deposit was paid, they couldn't take any more payments until the day of. Then, I received an email saying they would call to confirm my food order and the party a day or 2 prior to the party, but never got that. It also said to reply to the email if I had any questions..I sent an email and no reply. Now, day of the party. I call them because I hadn't received any confirmation for anything so I wanted to make sure everything was good to go! The lady on the phone was so rude and was an airhead! I started the call by saying "my daughter has a birthday party today at 4." She replied with "is it for Bobby?" Ummm no! I said "my daughter!" So I tell her nicely "no, it's for my daughter and her name." She says "okay..." and I said "do you see it on your calendar for today at 4 for my daughter?" She said "oh yea..it's on here." I tell her that I never received any confirmation for the food order. She tells me that see can go over it on the phone if she can find our party paper. Then a second later says "well we'll go over it in person when you get here because I don't know where it's at right now." Ummm okay??? Whatever. So we get off the phone. We get to the party and it's packed, but our room is ready, so we go in and start putting presents where they go and table clothes down and balloons up. Our host comes in and introduces herself. She's very friendly and helpful! She goes over the food order and our total. She talks to us about the waiver each parent has to sign for the child. No issues. She even tells us they can figure out how to split the bill at the end between different cards for us and that we're the last party of the night so no rush to get out after the hour and 45 minute party. Perfect! Sounds great! We asked if they could start the food asap. We ordered 5 pizzas and 2 pitchers of soda. They came out within like 10-15 mins! The pizza was great! No complaints there. The kids all had a blast as well as the adults. My daughter even had a vomiting episode and they were super helpful in cleaning up and reassuring us it happens sometimes and not to worry about it. At exactly the end time of the party, staff started coming in the room and rushing us out saying they had another party coming in(after they told us they didn't and to take our time cleaning up and getting out of the room) and we had to get out quick. They started picking up plates and cups and water bottles off the table and tossing them. They didn't even ask if the kids were done or not, just threw plates away full of food and cups full of soda/water without saying anything! We rushed and got everything out of the room to the tables outside the room. When we went to pay for the remainder of the party, the guy working tells us we can't split the payment between 2 cards(after they said they could!) he had to go find the manager in the back to help. After a couple minutes, she comes out to help and does it super quick. She was very helpful. I explained to her that we were told we didn't have to rush to get out and then we were rushed out and how frustrating that was! She didn't do/say much. Just said "I'm sorry about that." I was much nicer about everything than I should have been!! To sum everything up, we had a great time and food was good! Planning the party was a pain and they weren't helpful whatsoever in making it easier! The staff were nice and helpful up until trying to get us out. I've brought my son here a few times and everything seems pretty great so far. The staff does an ok job wiping things down, they've got food and drinks, birthday rooms, and a cool war room with air cannons that shoot foam balls. Kids do get a little crazy within the okay structure and there's always kids that cry, but the staff does seem to pit the smack down in the very unruly...not so much proactively, but if a problem child is brought to their attention, they do a good job investigating. The food is ok, both breakfast sandwiches and lunch, but it's somewhat spendy...actually, the while thing is kind of spendy. Admission for two kids, one egg and cheese sandwich is already $34, and we're still going to need lunch. I just have to keep telling myself, it's f9r the children! Obviously, weekends are the busy day; when we went here there's a 3 birthday party going.. a bit crowded even in the play area....BUT what i like about it was there's enough staff to check on kids (if they're safe) inside the play area; there are also staff at the dinning area; and enough staff at the food counter! Love the food though the prices are a bit over price! They serve beer - why not! they also have kids menu....they serve pizza in personal size or regular size! This facility is top notch, but it's grotesquely over priced. If they provided any kind of supervision I might feel differently, but it's very difficult to keep track of your child without crawling into the structure yourself. The cafe is decent but clearly price gouging as well. It gets the second star though because it really is a top notch play space. Huge, fun, lots of interesting rooms and slides etc. Tall enough that you can stand upright too, unlike say McDonalds. All in all I come here irregularly, because my daughter loves it, but if I'm not careful about when it's really just too crowded and expensive without any real way to supervise the littles. read more

I came on a Friday that was also a holiday, so I knew to expect a ridiculous fee for entry. What I didn't expect was that the ridiculous entry fee of $14 also came with an additional, MANDATORY 10% tip. Now I can understand a mandatory tip for food or drinks. But just for entry? What service are they providing? It certainly doesn't go towards cleaning because the place is an absolute mess! I'm very disappointed. read more

Very lord of the flies in here! Kids had fun but I definitely had to scramble after the youngest to make sure some other unsupervised big kid didn't knock her over. I'm giving it four stars because it did the job: kids running out energy and the pizza was surprisingly good. The kids love it here! And I love that I can just sit back and relax with a beer and my book. They even have a pretty good beer selection! The place is always clean and neat, even the bathroom. Check for the slowest times, because it can get pretty crazy! We would love having birthdays for all our kids here, but the staff always gives me a hard time about something just because we have the word "birthday" in the reason why we came, and that's frustrating for me. Too many rules and greed strangle my excitement to spend money at any business. When I pay for 9 kids to play because it's my kid's birthday, I don't want to be hassled about using disposable cups so I can write their names on them. And when there are 9 kids and 10 adults, I don't want to be hassled about only using 2 tables when there are literally only two other tables with people at them. If we had all paid separately, I don't think this would have been a thing. read more

Great space and play objects but frequently woefully understaffed... Tables not cleared / cleaned for upwards of 30 minutes, total toilet paper run out in men's room, mostly ZERO staff in the actual play area (from desk onward) to do basic observance of the play space, staff ONLY came (from the 3-4 staff members in the food court) when someone needed to sign in or whatever... I'm sure the staff isn't individually bad, but whoever schedules them needs a swift parent kick in the rear end and a little less focus on penny pinching and concession revenue (surely the core issue)...
