I LOVE PDX PLAYDATE!!! I take my son 5 times a month and i have NEVER had a problem with staff or the food to the parents who dislike it have either "hurt themselves on the slide" (it has warning signs EVERYWHERE regarding "slide saftey") or they're mad because there kid got hurt (you sign a waiver so if YOUR kid is hurt then that's on YOU.) Parents expect that they can just dump there kid off here and expect the staff to "keep an eye on them" uhhhh it's your kid and you are still responsible stop expecting others to keep an eye on your child. i have seen people compare PDX to Chuck E Cheese and when i did see that i laughed. Are you kidding me? at least at pdx i am able to walk through the structure with my child and play hands on with him. stop being lazy people. yes the place is extreamly noisy but maybe you all forgot you're dealing with children who are having fun and if you don't like that then have a great time somewhere else. read more

Reading the mixed reviews was interesting but I think you have to have certain expectations going into a place like this. We hosted my son's 5th birthday party here and we had great service, the kids had a blast, and we would definitely do another birthday party here. Our party host was Anna Laura and she was amazing. She was very attentive, quick with orders, and never seemed rattled despite working in a place with so much chaos. When you first walk in, if you have never been there, it can feel a bit overwhelming. However, that should be expected for an indoor play structure. I would recommend this place to anyone with kids 3 and up. read more

I would like to give this a better rating and I feel even a three star is kind of pushing it.. There is complete and utter chaos in this place. No one is watching anyone.. the parents dump their kids off and let me run wild. The staff is no help at all and seem like they are flustered with all the kids and people every where. You have older kids picking on the younger kids and other kids stripping naked and wandering around. And the older kids clinging on the nets and over. Hanging out in the areas that you are not supposed to be in. Or kids trying to leave when they open the big doors... I feel the staff needs more training and there should be more then 2 people working... there should be staff walking around and going in the play structure and making sure every one is safe. read more

I am loving this place. Or should I say my son loves this place. He is a few weeks away from 1 year old and he found things to do. They even have 3 years and under area. We didn't get a chance to eat their food, but it looked and smelled good. You can even get a beer while your kids play. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star was the employees did not enforce 3years and under rule in that area. When a gaggle of rambunctious older kids charged in, I went looking for an employee there wasn't one at the counter. My son was getting sleepy so I did not push it. I will be telling everyone about this place and will also be coming back. PS this looks like fantastic place for a birthday party. read more

First of all we've been about 8 times over the past 12 months and often observe unclean environments but tonight took the cake. We went there tonight and a kid had explosive diarrhea and was spreading it all over with his hands in the play area. We informed the staff and expected them to temporarily close the area to disinfect it. Their response was "this happens all the time". They sent a staff member to clean with a rag and she looked around for five minutes and tried to see any residue but left after she couldn't find it. I feel that the staff was woefully undertrained on how to handle this situation. Hope no one gets Ecoli! read more

If my kid was older than 4-years old, I'd probably give this place 4 stars. With an older kid, you could essentially let the kid run rampant, while you settled down at a table with your smart phone and latte for an extended period of time. Alas, with a 2-year old, this is not the case. I can't wait for her to grow old enough to do this. There is a little kids' area, but it's not monitored by staff, so you have big kids barreling through. And what parent wants to be the mean one to point out to these older kids that this area isn't meant for them? It's not like they'd listen to you anyways, they're so full of adrenaline and sugar. Inevitably the little one will want to wander out of the kiddie area and when she does, prepare to become that hovering helicopter parent, as the little one makes her way through the gauntlet of the big kids' play area. Luckily the structure and tunnels are built tall, so your back isn't killing you after spending a few hours in there. For the working parent of a toddler that can't make slow weekday sessions, I'd recommend hitting Playdate PDX before closing. Things tend to slow down enough where you won't be as worried about your toddler. read more

This place is great... if you come when it is empty. I make an effort never to go on the weekends or holidays. We always go during traditional "slow times". My biggest issue is the cost. As many have said it is very expensive. The food is equally high priced. Might be nice if they did a buy 20.00 in food get in free or a 5.00 credit toward food with paid admissions. My kids are 6 and 4 and they are pretty agile. They love running around the dance floor etc. If I could take them here and have lunch for around 20.00-25.00 we would go often as it is, lunch and play comes in around 40.00-50.00. A little high considering all the less expensive options (OMSI, Children's Museum, Out of this World etc). We will go back but it will be once or twice a year sort of stop not a regular event. read more

I have been here several times and enjoy the fact that they cater to both children and their parents! Love the TV's with football games a'playin' - makes me feel like a human adult! My children always have a blast and I like the different options available: small slides, big slides, a ball pit with cannons, lots of climbing areas, light up dance floor and even a toddler area for the little ones. Watch out for big kids playing in the toddler area - they need to be gently told to move on to other areas. Also, this place is super popular and by 11 am, it's starting to get really full of people and loud, so come early if you can! They also have rooms to reserve for Birthday parties! Tip: anyone entering the play area HAS to wear socks and only socks. I have forgotten this rule twice now (2 for 2) as I hate socks and rarely wear them!!! It's a real bummer when you need to find your kids and can't! read more

Fun for the kids but they apparently have a rule that the staff has to continuously vacuum and the high pitch of the vacuum was unbelievably annoying. Manager didn't care and said there was nothing she could do because it was a rule. We had a birthday party there for 2 of my grandkids and had to leave early because of the noise. Poor service, even worse management. I'll make it my goal to discourage other events here. Would rather patronize a business where the customer matters. read more

My 1 1/2 year old was all over this place for hours. Slides, tubes, ball launchers, we did it all! I was exhausted by the time we left and through most the time we had a gaggle of parentless children following us through the whole thing playing and showing off. My biggest suggestion is to come ready to play if you are a parent. Most the kids hanging with us had Mom's with little babies so I totally understand why they weren't in there with them but it was so obvious from the way they followed us around that they would have enjoyed it even more if Mom or Dad was in there with them. The maze, the slides all of it is plenty big for an adult to go through. Just make sure you wear pants especially if you want to go down the slides (which are very fast and fun as long as you have your butt and legs well covered). We went on a Saturday and arrived right as they opened so we had very few other children to contend with until the noon hour approached and then it exploded with people and off we went to another location for lunch. The menu here looked ok but nothing seemed outstanding. Once my kid is older and he can venture off on his own more I can see myself enjoying a latte while he plays. read more

My kid loves coming here, and not just for the play. The candy that is displayed ruins it all. He won't play now until I get him that sugar rush. I thought Portland was more wholesome and not so obsessed with sugar as the rest of the country. If they took the cookies and candy away, they can raise their prices and u wouldn't even blink. Let's be honest.. All children love this place. The slides are incredibly fast, the ball room is thrilling.. The dance floor is awesome. As an adult, you won't catch me up there again though especially when it's packed.. Talk about getting a work out / smelling smelly feet. As far as how this establishment is run... The food is WAY overpriced for mostly pre packaged frozen food.. Pretty sure you are paying 4 times the price. And you can't bring in your own food ( which is ridiculous) no children place structure has this rule. So you're stuck paying over $20 just to eat.. And that's probably only for 1 child and yourself . ($1 for a go gurt? Aren't they like $3 for a pack of 10 or something?) Kind of insulting since we are all parents here .. Who shop and know the prices of groceries.. Especially frozen foods. They also always seem to be under staffed. I've gotten some attitude over the years about their food. I have children with lactose allergies.. I would think you would want to list that there is a milk product in your smoothies on your menu.. I mean we are in portland after all. We like to know what we are eating in this city so it can't be too much to list ingredient on your menu.. Oh wait, when I asked they didn't know! They had to look at the pre made smoothie mix ingredients. Ew pre made? What is healthy about that smoothie? Oh then there's the day I ordered a breakfast sandwich and the meat was still frozen . That was the last time I ordered food there. If you don't believe me about the food. Sit next to the large white freezer on the left far side. That's where all your delicious food is stored !!! The place in itself is great. Large areas for the kids to run and huge slides. In fact I usually go in the area with my 3 year old and run with him. The bad is, I'm 4 for 4 going there and ending up with a terrible cold. First to all of the parents who take their sick kids there to play, you suck. Second, the place needs to disinfect overnight. Wipe the stuff down, it would keep viruses from culturing on the stuff and then infecting everyone. We go to smaller places around town (that do happen to clean their stuff), and haven't come out sick yet. If playdate pdx would start disinfecting regularly, this place would be a 5 out of 5. read more

The kids and I love it here. We can usually spend a few hours (really get our money's worth). I spent $16 for my 4 and 6 yr old. I enjoy a hard cider while they play. Sometimes we get a pizza to share. It's a bit spendy which is why we make it a day trip. The slide is really fast (the kids and I love it), but if you go too fast you will bruise your tailbone. But in all honesty it is worth it. I've never had a problem with the staff and it's always been clean. Another mentionable would be the last Wednesday of every month is free with two cans of food; but it is crazy busy. I only come in on the weekdays. read more

My favorite thing about this place is that my daughter can have fun, while I have to catch up on work. As a freelance editor, this place saves the day when she needs to get energy out after we do homeschooling. We could easily spend 4-5 hours here because she never gets bored. She's one of those kids with a stellar imagination...so that helps. Although, my daughter is super bummed because they closed the main slides down because some parents had to go and sue or complain about injuries...it takes one person to ruin the fun for the rest of the kids. The slides are a blast and I am saddened to see them shut down. The company does require parents to sign a waiver, so I am amazed that somebody would have the gall to sue...what happened to just playing? It's just a slide. In the years that we have been going here, we have never been hurt, nor seen any major damage occur...and if so, that's what health insurance is for...(okay, I better get on with it). Parents get so crazy protective and out of control...I watched a mother threaten a young child the other day because she bumped into her son...it was an accident. The girl looked so afraid. Our children won't learn to deal with these issues if you get in front of it every time... Anyways...I'd love to see the slides open up, or be replaced with something "safer" ...maybe some bubble wrap. PERKS The wifi is great, but sadly, there are only two sections of the space that have immediate access to an outlet (not counting the bar area by the kitchen). That can be frustrating. I know it isn't their responsibility to account for working parents, but I just wish there were more spots. Then again, I do think parents should limit their usage of outlets to 1-2 hours to allow other guests access, if needed. STAFF The staff has always been nice and receptive, but I will say that if you go on a busy day (M-F around 1-3pm) and weekends, then you may get subpar service depending on who is working. There is an older woman who recently started working that isn't the nicest woman on the block, but I don't think she is there for a career....however, the young woman, who I believe is a supervisor, or just a great employee(she looks like Ellen Page) is the nicest young woman and always very attentive. Many people complain about the service, and I think that has to do with poor training and/or understaffing, so I wouldn't take it out on them. Several times we have walked in and there are TWO people working and the place is packed....that is owners and general manager's lack of scheduling skills. FOOD Incredibly overpriced. We always eat before coming here. They ask that you don't bring food or drinks inside, which is fine, but I don't think it is appropriate or even professional to charge $19 for a pizza that gets popped into a convec. oven. I mean, even a bagel with cream cheese is $4 (that could be wrong, but I can't remember)....but don't order the cream cheese bagel from an older gentleman because he will try to convince you to become vegan and throw nasty statistics at you about the poison you are about to feed your child...just ask him for extra cream cheese. He always makes me laugh. The bottomless coffee is 2.50 and a great price if you plan to have a heart attack...but really, it is good if you like to drink a few cups. It's great coffee. Oh and they serve booze. Mommy drinks. Baby plays. hahahahaha If you do bring food, eat it outside. That is what we do when we plan to be here for a few hours. They do provide water, though. WOW! as a first timer, I have to say that I was pleased with this place. Although It was springbreak and the last Wednesday of the month((free entry with 2 cans of food per child)) the place was packed, but was still comfortable. I was able to find a table close to the play structure (it is very fancy by the way...I was able to take my own little tour of the play equipment, perfect for playing hide and go seek with your kids if you're into that). My kids,aged 7 and 9...wanted little to do with me for almost 2 hours...they had a blast!! They also raved to their friends when we came home about how cool Playdate PDX was. P.S I was also Pleased with the menu selection. We ordered Pizza...a bit spendy..but on the other hand, we DID get in Free that day...so yea.... :) read more

A good place to come to let the kids burn off some energy allowing you a small break in your day. Price is 8.50 for mid day admission. I had a wrap for 7 bucks. It's true there is a service fee of 10% but that doesn't bother me knowing their employees get a chunk of that fee. The wrap I had was very good. It can get packed on days when kids don't have school, but that's to be expected given there aren't a lot of choices of places that allow kids to run around uninhibited during the rainy months. Parking can be a pain it it is downtown... come early and leave when it gets crowded, that's my mantra. read more

Boy, I wish I had something this cool near me in San Diego. This place is fabulously large, clean and very much geared towards kids properly. Even the toddlers have an area that has a lot of content. The play area takes up most of the place, and all the seats are in great view of what's going on, so you can easily find your kids. They have a pretty decent menu and wine and beer, for the adults. I also appreciate that they have a children's potty. read more

I have to say. I need to update my review because since my last one, they have really stepped their game up :) Over the past five months, I've come here 8 or 9 times and they have all been great. The food, still over priced, but at least the past few times it has been decent. Not awful like my last review. I still recommend only coming here during the off hours, especially if you have a little one. Our daughter is about to turn three. She gets a long very well with the other 2-5 year olds. Staff again, very friendly. The main improvement is that over the past six or seven times I've recieved food here, it has been better. Still a nice place for my wife and I to play with our daughter, but to also let us sit at a table, catch up on quick Reddit news and allow her to get some exercise. :) We will be back of course. read more

a very spacious play area with a nice waiting lounge for the parents to chill. there is a cafe that serves hot sandwiches, tots, salad and coffee. 8 dollars for the kids age 4 and older to get in. Age 3 and younger is 4 dollars. food ranges from 5 to 10 dollars. coffees are normal prices ranging from 2 to 4 dollars. i ordered the tater tots and they were descent. pretty clean and safe. it's nice to be able to let your kids loose and not be worried. oh they serve alcohol beverages for the adults. nice maya! read more

This place is fantastic! My husband and I brought our 5 year old daughter and two older boys here and my kids had a blast! I made sure my daughter knew every posted rule and repeat them back to me before I let her play (for her safety). She was reluctant to go down the slides at first, but after she went down the first time and realized there was nothing to be scared of it's all she wanted to do. I don't know what all of the fuss over the slides are. I even went down a few times myself. All I can say is the ONLY issue I had with the slides were the unsupervised, wild, and unruly toddlers who were walking up the slides, standing up on the slides, straddling two slides at once, basically the those kids who were the ones being hurt. Every other kid who followed the rules were completely safe and never injured. On another note, I don't want to forget to mention the other great things about Playdate! The food is really good and the customer service was terrific! The place was really clean, and the bathrooms were excellent. I'm thrilled we came here and plan on coming back again very soon! I really loved and appreciate how the play structure was parent-size friendly! We will absolutely be coming back again soon!! read more

Fun for kids and parents. I did not eat there but you can have food, wine, or beer which is plus. My family ordered some fried items and enjoyed it. If you are a germ a phobe, I would not recommend the place. I have two kids under 4, so I was running around with them and every now and then found a wet spot or saw cleaning crew cleaning up something. They are good about cleaning though. We went on a Friday during late december and it was not too crowded. I would definitely not go at a peak time, it would get to tight in there. read more

I think we've tried just about every entertainment option for the 10 and under set that exists in the Portland metro area. I was ridiculously pleased by Playdate PDX! The play structure is three stories tall with enough to keep any kid busy for literally hours. My husband had a blast with the ball guns and pretending to be an American Gladiator. The food selection is really great with about a million healthy snack options for kids and adults. I wasn't expecting much from the BATT wrap but the bacon and pita bread were warmed, and it was pretty delicious! Our cheese and fruit plate had about a box of crackers, a huge amount of cheese, apples, pears and grapes. The prices may look a little high to some (not to me, this is the Pearl after all) but you can get good value. Pizzas seem small for the price though. Anyway we've been known to take the kids to Burger King on a long winter night to get some exercise. This is a thousand times better! Will be right back. read more

This place is fine. A little pricy, and you're definitely not coming for the food (and no outside food or drink). For instance, my daughter's fruit cup had rotten grapes in it and my bagel was oddly squishy. I was also a little disappointed that there was no gate to keep toddlers in the toddler space. Man this place has such potential but really misses the mark. What we were expecting was a place where my wife and I could sit in a cool pub type atmosphere and maybe have some decent food and watch something on some tv's while our kids played their hearts out. What it was in real life was freaking chaos. Apparently everyone there has been there a bunch of times because we had no idea how the process works. There's a big line by the play area. You wait in line there, sign a release, and pay and then send your kids into the play structure. Then you wait in line at the food counter to order. Then wait for a table, watching people like a hawk to see if they're leaving because there's no table line. It's just take whatever you can get. Fortunately we ate lunch before we got there. The tables next to us had waited for over an hour for their food. The place was just not what we were expecting at all. The only saving grace to it was our kids had a blast and it was $14 per kid for as long as they wanted. At least that's what we assumed because that part was never really explained to us. Our kids played for over two hours though and no one told us otherwise. They said they had a blast and there was so much to do. That's the only reason for the 3 stars. read more

I took my 18 month old granddaughter after reading the online description of a separate toddler area that was available so little kids would not get knocked about by the bigger kids. It is true that a separate area is available, however, many parents and most staff are not monitoring it, so it was a constant problem. I asked staff three times to help, and they eventually did, but between that the the high volume of play noise from the bigger kids as the areas are divided only by open netting make this a outing choice I will not return to. I was impressed by the quality of the food and the variety. Not expensive to get in, food not cheap but not outrageous, overall, an okay experience. read more

There should be more supervision! Some kids are out of control (a kid bit my kid). It's difficult to tell what's going on since the play structure is dark with small spaces. There's no restrictions on older kids playing in the toddler space. A super packed, unsupervised, 3 leveled play structure with the potential of adults having one too many drinks makes me feel uncomfortable. I would've left at one star but added another since my kids did have fun. read more
