I have friends who meet here weekly, when I can make it I always enjoy my meal and the service is always great! We will continue to meet here, enjoy our lunch and the camaraderie. Great atmosphere for football and sports fanatics! Bar food and wings are acceptable. The fried pickles have a little too much breading for my liking. Asked for extra crispy wings and they were still quite soft and soggy which I'm not a fan of but the wing sauce had really good flavor. The service was good and our server was very attentive, checking on us often despite having several tables. Only a few short months after the New Owners to over Players Grille...the once thriving and joyful restaurant has taken a 180 degree turn. The food id now mediocre ( even after requesting a change) and the timing of the service for ordering, receiving and requesting additional beverages was poor. The once sports bar grille has now become family friendly which is to say unrulily children running throughout the aisle and tables screaming and the parents or management turning a blind eye to their behavior. On balance Our Party was very disappointed and will not be returning under present Management or Ownership. read more

Good food at a sports bar in San Marco? Ok. So my booster club decided to add this place into our rotation of restaurants to have our meetings at and I'm very glad that we are changing it up. I've been to Toscana in this little shopping center but not Players Grille. Walking into this place, wow it screams sports bar. They have a little meeting space away back in the back portion of the bar, hidden away from the front and quiet enough so that everyone can be heard. It seems like it was a makeshift back room with a long table and chairs but it served it's purpose. I sat down with the other members and looked over the menu. They all highly recommended the Monday night specials of 10 wings, spaghetti or a 1/2 burger for $7.99. I just settled for a Cuban Sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries with an Angry Orchard. The sandwich was pretty decent. I read that it was on a "pressed roll" but it wasn't pressed like a pita. Not a traditional Cuban but it worked for me. They were heavy on the pickles but I like them so that was fine. The sweet potato fries are good and served with the Country Crock cinnamon butter and because I like variety, I ate some with the butter and some with ketchup. One wasn't better than the other. Poor service tonight. Waitstaff checked on table next to me, and folks at the bar, but only, barely, stopped once to see if I needed anything. I did. Travelled to Jacksonville from Indiana and were looking for a place to watch a basketball game. We found this place on Yelp and it had great reviews that showed lots of TVs! We had a great time here. It's located in s strip mall area and it's a pretty big place with a good sized bar as well. TVS GALORE. Along with a projector screen. Great place to watch any game! The service was awesome. The staff was super friendly, fast, and attentive. We were here a good three hours eating and watching the game and we couldn't have had a more pleasant experience. They have a lot of menu options to choose from. Our table tried the loaded nacho appetizer, the burger, boneless wings, club sandwich, and fish and chips. Everything was great!! They had a great special sauce for the burger that I used on my club sandwich and fries. Just got a to go order but this place does Scream Sports Bar. If I didn't live on the other side of town probably would be a Regular here. Ordered the Patty Melt and a Vanilla milkshake. I was happy to see the Milkshake was made once I got there and hand made with real ice cream and not some machine like fast food places so definitely would recommend one. Patty melt was decent. Plenty of onions and provolone cheese. Burger was good correctly and flavorful. Had the fries as a side and they were your normal crinkle cut fries. Very disappointing. I have been coming to players for 8 years and the food today is not even the same place. Their new restaurant opened yesterday down the road and something has happened to the original one. Unbelievably bad food. Fries were cold, kettle chips no longer exist, and the hamburger wasn't even close to what they normally serve. Hamburger was like one at a little league game. Been coming here for years. Today was St. Patrick's day and we came in for Corned Beef and Cabbage and green jello shots!! The dinner was $9.99!! Insane!! Who charges that for a whole meal? Player's Grille does!! Fun fact!! They hand make each milkshake!! They are thick, creamy and delicious! My fave is chocolate? The corn nuggets are always a yummy appetizer choice and the onion rings are a crowd pleaser!! Suprisingly they made great Edame! If you are a pulled pork fan you will love it here!! Love a good salad? Try the chef salad here!! You can take it home and split it into 2!! The staff cares. Service is fast and efficient. My only complaint is that when they made my rootbeer float the spoon sunk to the bottom and they overfilled it, so when they set it down it was spilling over on the table and getting everything sticky. This was such a surprise. It a great sports bar. I've been for their brunch and the Bloody Mary is spectacular. The nachos have home made chili on them- amazing! They also have pepper poppers with raspberry sauce and it's so good. Happy hour is from 2-7 on weekdays, $2 house wines and beer specials. They also have a 3.99 drink of the day. I visited the Player's Grille in Jacksonville while in town for business. It was within walking distance of where I was working and I like to check out locally own restaurants while dining out of town. I walked in and grabbed a chair near the bar. The tables were homemade out of 2x4s. The waitress was polite and greeted me very quickly after sitting down. I ordered water and the chicken strips basket. It's decorated much like your typical sports bar with sports memorabilia all over the walls and TVs everywhere you look. This place could use some updating and a good cleaning. It was a little dirty, but I wasn't grossed out. Near the restroom in particular, there is a rack holding all of the TV and stereo equipment. It looked messy and unorganized. They should put that stuff behind doors or in another room. The food was decent. It came with an assortment of condiments in bottles. I like the idea, but the bottles needed a good cleaning. I was happy with the food though. It's exactly what I've come to expect out of pub food. While I was sitting there, I was thinking to myself that I would give this place a 2 star rating, but then something unexpected happened. The manager or owner (not sure which) walked over to me and asked me how everything was. I told her it was good and she then began to tell me how they cook fish on a certain day of the week. She excitedly talked about how good it was and how much the customer's liked it. She invited me to come back and try it and she said that she hoped to see me again. This one small gesture has pushed me to give the Player's Grille a 4 star rating. It's a sad fact that good customer service is a rarity. I was so shocked and pleasantly surprised that it stuck with me for the rest of the week. I'm impressed that the manager understands that the customer is what drives a business either into success or failure. Man do I love Players. Before we found it, my sister and husband and brother-in-law and I used to really argue about where to eat for hours! We'd debate until half the options closed. Thankfully, though, we did find players. Very chill place. No frills. No stupid sauces or pretentious ingredients. I like the mozz sticks. My sister gets some meat dish with no meat because she's a vegetarian. They are always very careful to make sure she doesn't overpay, since she's forfeiting the expensive part. I will say, they are volatile with the chicken strips. Sometimes they're the awesome flat kind with peppery flakes. Sometimes they're less good. But you can always count on the mozz sticks. My personal favorite is Eggs Benitict with hollandaise to die for, add a great Bloody Mary and it is Perfect! Been gong for several years now, and it just keeps getting better. This place has horrible customer service. The bartender Elizabeth M was very rude. I'm a cancer survivor so I have to be careful not to get sick. So when I saw Elizabeth pick up the cherry for my drink with her bare hand I ask for another one and she called me stupid and aggravating. And then ask all I wanted to do was complain when I asked for the manager. Then the manager walked over and told me that Elizabeth has been working there for 33 years and there was nothing he could do. I walked away in tears. TV's everywhere, watched the World Series here. Solid burger and my coworker enjoyed the BBQ plate. Drinks are extremely cheap compared to the Dallas prices I'm used to, but good beers on tap and good daily drink specials. Bought a Jell-O shot for $1 because why not..
