Everyone at The Sanctuary was so warm and welcoming, and the instructors were super helpful, always taking time to explain and demonstrate movements. There was a lot equipment and all very well taken care of and clean. The staff was most helpful and kind as well as making sure the gym was respectful and welcoming place for all, had to sign papers to our responsibility for maintaining that expectations. The Poipu Beach Athletic Club is awesome…read more Background: We were staying in Kauai with our our group of 8 which consisted of 5 adults and 3 kids. We had a rental house in Poipu about 5 minutes from this facility. One of the perks of our rental was we had access to this facility for the duration of the stay. Our kids are twin 11 year olds and a 7 year old. I was a bit worried about not having the hotel facilities (pool) while staying in a rental house. That's why us having access to this place was so huge for our trip. We weren't here everyday, but having it as option was huge. Facilities: They have a pool with a waterslide, sandy beach area, gym facilities, athletic courts, and their own restaurant/bar. They also have poolside service for drinks and food. We ate at their restaurant the night we flew in as we were tired from the travel day. We let the kids swim then had dinner. Very convenient and the food was decent. Service: We had great service at the pool and restaurant/bar. Food/Drinks: Large selection of the usual tropical drinks. Decent selection of food. Food is good but not great. For the atmosphere though it will definitely get the job done. Prices are very reasonable for drinks. Think 11 or 12 where if you were at a resort probably closer to 20. Food Prices decent also. They had a great special on Mimosas on Saturday and Sunday during the day. Final Thoughts: This place definitely enhanced our trip immensely. We still hit the beach daily and did some activities around the island, but having this as an option was great. I would rent the same house again just because it came with access to this spot.

It's clear I've developed a lot of strength from this workout that incorporates ballet, yoga, and mat Pilates moves and I'm grateful it's part of my weekly routine. I've never felt more comfortable in a group fitness setting. The teachers are welcoming, kind, and super knowledgeable. The students come from a range of ages and skillsets and add to the great vibes. I appreciate the instructors' discrete corrections to form, explanations about poses, breathing cues, and variety of moves incorporated into the flow. Barre classic and back to the basics help you work on form and the muscle groups tackled are super obvious. Barre inspire and bold are creative and fly by with the light changes. There are also a good amount of yoga classes offered with excellent instructors that make yoga approachable and fun. I have nothing but praise for this studio that Anna has cultivated.

The instructor I had was motivating, the studio itself is welcoming and they provide all the (very nice) props you need. A couple things to note... You will need sticky sole socks for class, they sell them there but the least expensive is $15. Just an FYI, had I known this before I would have brought my own. I don't personally like working out with the socks, but I understand why they are necessary. Classes are fast paced! This is not a bad thing, but just something to be aware of. I take barre regularly and kept up. But it was a challenging class...in a good way! I'll definitely be back on my next trip and highly recommend checking it out. They have a great new to the studio package as well. You can schedule using the mindbody app too.
