Showers for the woman's locker room/restroom at the Kapa'a location have been unavailable around 2020. They should lower membership fees for Kapa'a members since the showers in the locker room listed on their website isnt available and doesnt seem like its getting fixed anytime soon. Best gym on this side of the island, and companion to the Lihue KAC location. This gym has a couple less pieces of equipment (no prowler sled, missing the plate loaded seated calf machine) than at Lihue, but otherwise everything is here. Basic as far as locker room amenities (no steam sauna just lockers restroom showers) but fully equipped with all possible strength conditioning equipment including free weights (bars, fixed straight bars and dumbbells to 100 lbs) as well as a range of aerobic machines. You may need to move to different rooms to find everything as the gym is compartmentalized, but most everything you need is here. Because there is only one cross cable machine with the adjustable arms, you might need to wait a bit to get your workout done, especially on Mondays when the power lifters will take over some of the stations for a bit of time. This and the Lihue location would be the best equipped gyms in Kauai. There is an "oxygenated" filtrated water machine to keep you hydrated. These days very few wear masks but some still do. Gym users are very good about wiping down equipment between uses with antiseptic spray soaked paper towels. Day and two week passes along with monthly and annual plans available, which work for both locals and visitors. read more

This place has everything you need to stay fit- we dropped in while on vacation for a week. $60 for a week long pass on Kauai is reasonable - there are two locations. The Kapaa'a location was having plumbing issues so no filtered water for our first 3 visits was kind of a bummer. I also never understand why a gym has carpeting- anywhere- it's gross! They DO have a lot of equipment & a separate room for Cross-fit type workouts... a full rig and Olympic bars/bumper plates, ski-erg, Concept 2 rowers etc. Lihue location is larger and cleaner. We took a yoga class and Body Pump at Kapaa'a with instructor Brooke -and she was fantastic, great personality, so welcoming to us as visitors-and kept us moving, challenged and motivated! Guest review 3.11.2024. Monday at 1030am. Staying at Marriott Lihue Summary-solid gym for everyone. Plenty of cardio, free weights, and machines. You get what you pay for, and this gym is worth it. Today was a bit of an adventure getting to the gym and I'm glad I finally made it. Kauai is not an overly large population, so first things first, I was not expecting a gym that compares to the mainland. This gym definitely does and it's head and shoulders above the gym at a 5 star resort. My first impression when I drove up was that the parking situation is not optimal, then I walked in and breathed a sigh of relief. You instantly see the rows of mixed cardio (stair steppers, a ladder machine, bikes, treadmills and elliptical.). Plenty of variety. Next up behind those is rows of hammer strength, which is always a welcome sight, especially the plate loaders. For a guest, it is a bit difficult to fully describe what makes a gym great or not. Some other worthy mentions are that there are side rooms too. A power lifting room, a dumbbell room and what looks like a yoga room upstairs. One amenity I always look for is a clean Locke room with showers. Always important for knowing if you have to head home after a workout and before going out. This gym has that. A few Lockers could be bigger, but that's just being nit-picky. I've already written an essay, so even though this review feels incomplete, I'll let you come here and see the rest. KAC is a dope gym. They have equipment for weight lifters, people who use a lot of machines (cardio & weights), Crossfitters and some dope bars for people who are into calisthenics. The environment is super chill with the reggae music so if you are that person that needs other genres to pump you up, bring ya headphones. A day pass is $20 and a week is $60. Pretty pricey imo but I think it's worth it. Especially seeing how clean everything. Including the bathrooms. Definitely check it out. read more

It's an old gym with a variety of old equipment and weights but it has AC, water dispenser, and clean bathrooms. The gym provided paper towels and many bottles of disinfectant spray. I was very comfortable in this spacious gym. I will definitely use again when visiting Kauai. read more

This is our second visit to the island and we used this gym in 2019 and this year. This is hands down one of the best gyms we've been to in our travels or back home. Actually I think it's my idea of a perfect gym. It's clean and organized without being fussy and it has everything you need and want, from cardio to free lifting to machines, including deadlift platforms, plenty of racks and bars, and plenty of space to move around, so you never feel crowded or like you're encroaching on someone else's space. Haven't had to wait for anything. Everyone is so friendly and respectful too. I would be a full time customer if we lived here, for sure. read more

The manager has no authority to provide day passes to a father and his 16 year old son who are visiting the island and want to get a couple workouts in. This gym turned away 6 day passes and $120 worth or business because the "owner has a policy" against giving day passes to anyone under 18. Kauai Athletic Club has been the number one gym on Kauai since 1981. This review is for their Kapaa location. They have another location in Lihue, conveniently located in Nawiliwili. Kauai Athletic Club consistently satisfies. Their friendly staff is always welcoming. You can always count on a warm welcome when you walk through the door -- which is nice after a long, stressful day. KAC offers a variety of classes for everyone's individual needs. There are staff that are more than happy to assist you with how to use equipment, when you have no idea what to do with, too. KAC's hours of operation could be a little better, with extended hours on the weekend -- however, I can appreciate that they want their employees to enjoy the weekend, too! The rest of the facility is pretty standard -- cardio equipment, weight machines, free weights; upstairs has a few other machines and an area to stretch. The locker rooms are equipped with, duh, lockers!! Bring your own lock, but be sure to remove it before you leave, or it will be removed for you. The showers stalls are cleanly, with body wash for a real quick rinse after your workout. If you're wanting more, bring your shower stuff with you. For the ladies, they have a large vanity and an industrial fan to utilize so you don't get all sticky and sweaty from your post-workout shower-sesh. There are also hair dryers available for use. Dropped in to Altius athletics to lift while on Kauai for a conference. David was so responsive over email and super nice in person. Everyone was, actually. They have an amazing space with 4 platforms, jerk blocks, and rogue squat racks. They also have eleiko bars to lift with and then some beater bars to squat with, plates in kg and lbs. Literally everything one could want or need. Additionally, Bc it's within the athletic gym you have access to all that cardio stuff if that's your fan (that's a hard pass for me, though!), as well as body building stuff. I've been coming to Kauai for the past decade to visit my family. This is the first time I've been out here since COVID started. I went to workout today and I was told I could not work out in the gym unless I had proof that I had been vaccinated. If I don't need to be vaccinated to enter the island why do I need to be vaccinated to enter a gym ? I was more than willing to wear my mask. This is a good gym with everything you need for a complete workout. Daily pass is $20, weekly pass is $60 and $100 for a month. I like how everyone puts stuff back when finished. They have showers which was a plus since I was staying on the north shore and hanging out on the south side after the workout. Plenty of parking. I will return next time I visit Kauai. read more

Clean, plenty of equipment (free weights, machines and cardio), and not busy (I went early in the morning). Their weekly pass is reasonably priced. I needed a good strength workout with weights while we were in Kauai, and this was a good choice. They also have a power lifting class, but I didn't have time for it to start. Overall, I was able to get a good sweat on and use the weights to maintain a bit while on vacation. They don't have towels, so if you sweat like a dog while working out (as I tend to do) bring your own. Overall, easy to use and decent equipment. Google it beforehand as it's a bit off the beaten path. read more

A good, basic gym. Good variety of equipment, nice size, very clean. Don't look for any fancy spa stuff here like a sauna or a pool - you will not find that here. But for a good workout they have everything you need! Smoothie bar is fun to go to after your workout. read more
