Delicious Mexican brunch! Very generous with the portion. I had the Pastor Mole Enchiladas and they're filled with tender pork. The mole sauce was also nice and savory. Eggs were perfectly cooked over-easy. The Red & Green Chilaquiles were tasty too but I thought the brisket was too dry. The play would be to do Mole Chilaquiles with Pastor! The atmosphere here was very pleasant and nice. Plenty of tables at 9 am but was crowded by 10:30 on a Sunday. The waiters and waitress were attentive and pleasant. I stopped in at RJ Skillets and ordered breakfast to go. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. Their service alone is worth a visit, in my opinion. I ordered Chilaquiles for myself and added sour cream and avocado. I also ordered a steak burrito and the hash for other family members. On top of that, I ordered two orders of churros and a piece of tres leches cake. Our food was prepared to order and the wait was 10-15 minutes. While I waited, I was offered a glass of water, which I appreciated. The chilaquiles were sooooo good! I chose the brisket as my meat. The portion size is generous. I savored every bite of my food. I tried a churro and it was also delicious. The churro had strawberry in it. It was hard to eat just one. The restaurant is clean and inviting. I would have rated five stars, however, they forgot my tres leches cake. I tried calling and no one answered. I didn't go back for it but was hoping I could later today or tomorrow. Went back again to make sure this place was still great after my first two visits and lo and behold, it was! What a great place from it's cleanliness to its Waite staff and of course, it's amazing menu and food presentation. I opted for the skillet with brisket and my mom again went for her favorite chimichanga. This place is off the chain! I've been to RJ Skillet since it was RJR Skillets and only in the smaller space. This my go to place when I go to meet someone for breakfast or brunch because the food is consistently excellent and the prices are reasonable. I used to meet dates there when I was on a dating app. A trio of sauces is standard. I used to love the house made green chorizo omelette but it's gotten more spicy. No matter the healthy bowl with our without their brisket is simply fabulous. And presentation is first rate. I first ordered their tacos for lunch with their signature cocktail. Amazing. They penny and dimed everything when telling us it was free of charge. Even the chips weren't free. The server told us more salsa was free but for guac it would be extra. Ok perfect we will just get more salsa. Turns out, they charged us for more salsa too? Absolutely insane. We ordered the Beef Chilaquiles and asked for no cheese on just the beans. They didn't put cheese on anything on the plate which was ok. So we asked for some cheese to put on the dish. They charged us $2 for it?!? Make it make sense. The server just played in our face. Came here on an early morning on a Sunday after looking on Yelp for a breakfast spot to eat. I came in and was seated immediately. The host allowed me to sit wherever I wanted. I decided to sit near the window. The waiter shared the most popular items on the menu and gave me a few minutes to decide on food. He shared that the chilaquiles and enchiladas were the most popular. I decided on the chilaquiles with green sauce and steak, and a side of French toast. As I was waiting for my food, loads of people started coming in, letting me know this is a popular place for Sunday breakfast. The wait for the food to be served was no more than 15 minutes. Everything came out piping hot. The server realized I didn't have syrup for my French toast and brought that out. He later realized I didn't have salsa for my chilaquiles and brought that out too. The food was delicious! Lots of flavor and well seasoned. The chilaquiles were perfect. Nice and savory with a good crunch from the chips. The green sauce was not too spicy and paired nicely with the steak. I loved it!! The French toast was also very good. You can really taste the vanilla in the batter and a little hint of citrus. The bread was not super firm, and the center was a little soggy, but it did not take away from the taste, just added some textural difference. I could barely finish half of each dish, so I had to take the food to go, but I loved it and looked forward to my leftovers. For the amount of food I had, the price was not bad at all. The restaurant itself is a nicely sized restaurant with a Mexican theme. It is very cozy and homey, yet airy, with enough space between tables. Wow absolutely loved our visit to RJ Skillets this last weekend. Would most definitely go back. We came in on a Saturday morning and were quickly seated to a nice table by the window. The inside space is airy but industrial with exposed concrete but lovely skylights which were perfect for a sunny day. The service was really on point. We felt well taken care of for the entire meal and waters were on the table within seconds of sitting down. The staff was kind and attentive throughout the meal, better service than I'll get at even some upscale restaurants. Now to the food. They're only open for breakfast and lunch so you have the option to pick either direction of dishes. I opted for the traditional green salsa enchiladas and by gf went with the mole oaxacan omelette. We also got an empanada to start the meal. Everything tasted extremely fresh and the plating was also quite impressive. The portions were sizable which I always appreciate. Even the fruit side we ordered, which most places would probably overlook, was super fresh with berries and presented beautifully. They have since become successful enough to expand into the space next door. The service is always spectacular and the food is always top notch and fresh. We started with chips and salsa, and then Miki tried the breakfast burrito and I had the breakfast tostada with carnitas. I also had the Bloody Maria, as their take on it sounded really good and Miki had the Piña Jaritos. Drinks and chips arrived very quickly. The chips were house-made, as were the salsas which were very tasty and there were 3 of them with a diversity of heat and flavor.They also mixed together well to achieve a very tasty concoction. The Bloody Maria is for those like me who enjoy more than the usual spice and this did not disappoint! The flavor was great and it had almost a small appetizer's worth of veggies marinating in there which also tasted great. Soon after, arrived the mains. Miki's burrito was... well... pretty much that. She could only finish about 1/3 of it in a testament to its size. Flavor was good, but really, it was a boring choice. My tostada had some undeclared dairy, but I powered on. Every once in a while, it's worth the risk to your GI tract . Carnitas are almost a bellwether for a Mexican restaurant. If they are good, so's the restaurant, if they are dry, chunky, tough... well, so is the restaurant. These were moist and properly slow cooked. I'd have appreciated a little time on the flat top to crisp up the outside, and add a bit of texture and char. The fried egg was good and created the desired sauciness that pulled everything together into a very flavorful whole. Overall, I was pretty happy. This is better than the average roadside taqueria in TX and as good as Jorge's or Ninfa's. It's not up there with the absolute best, which for me at this moment in Portland is Ki'ikibaa who also have Cochinitas Pibil, which was sadly not on the menu here. read more

They also serve you a triptych of sauces from mild to spicy. Yum! Service is variable. Last week we had waitstaff who was friendly and attentive; they even remembered us from another restaurant where they worked formerly. This week we were pretty much ignored. Waitstaff cleaned one empty table after another as we waited about a half hour to get the check. We finally had to get up and ask for it. We could've probably just walked out unnoticed. Never saw a manager. So, it's a tossup. Give it a try and hope you draw the right waiter. read more

This is such a great brunch spot! My mom loves this place, and we always go when I am in town. We usually all order the chilequiles because they make them so good here. Service is always very quick, and the food is delicious. I also love that they have both inside and outside seating, it is great for when the weather is nice outside. We had a wonderful Father's Day Breakfast at RJ Skillets. We arrived at 8:30am and, despite the holiday, there were only two other families there, which meant no wait! We all had coffee, which was smooth and bold. They came around with refills several times with no extra charge. The chilaquiles were very flavorful, with just the right amount of spice, and had a variety of perfectly cooked vegetables on the vegetarian option. My husband really enjoyed with steak skillet, and the others opted for pancake and French toast, which had massive portions and were very shareable. From the moment we sat down to when we departed, the service was excellent. They checked in on us just the right amount. Once we were leaving around 9:30am, it had filled up and people were waiting for tables, so it definitely pays to get there early. We will definitely be back. read more

This is a solid brunch spot with a Mexican twist it's casual, clean lots of light they don't seem to be trying too hard which I personally appreciate.The food is definitely worth the stop,they have brisket it's so tender not dry the red sauce was great wasn't overly spicy but really flavorful they have housemate chips and salsa that's nice. If you're into mole there's is rich and sweet it's well balanced not your average brunch plate the service is fast there wasn't a long wait no one was overbearing, the wait staff was pleasant it was crowded but not too much. The weight staff was extremely attentive which is rare they refilled your coffee without you asking. Then of course you know obviously the big drawbacks are parking on Alberta during peak times isn't great so you might walk a block or two no big deal not their fault it is what it is and if you like things spicy, I don't but if you do just ask for it and they have a default heat level which is hot hot hot is good for heat tasting experts or small groups on low-key weekends I will definitely be going back to try their burrito options. I've wanted to try here for a while. I finally got a chance and was not disappointed. The restaurant is rustic and a little industrial. The service is good. I ordered the chorizo omelette and my husband the breakfast burrito with sausage. Both were good but I loved burrito. And to be honest, I'm not a burrito fan. Usually it's a big mess and filled with filler. Not this one, perfectly fluffy scrambled eggs, plenty of breakfast sausage and lots of cheese. The tortilla even tasted better than usual. After landing my fiancé and I were starving and were researching what restaurant to have breakfast at when we came across this one and decided to visit and we were glad we did because the food was so yummy! We got the pancakes and breakfast burrito and both were delicious! We hope to return to have traditional mexican cuisine to leave another review but the place got busy after 11am (this was the day after thanksgiving on a Friday!) but we got there on time. We absolutely loved this place! The food was really tasty and authentic. The chilaquiles were spicy and the tortillas still had a crunch to them. I added egg whites on top and they were so fluffy. My husband got the mole enchiladas stuffed with carnitas and they were delicious. The mole definitely tasted home made. We also had micheladas and a tequila cantarito and the drinks were both amazing. I didn't get a picture but the pancakes were also delicious. I was not a big fan of the churros because they had a strawberry filling and I found them too sweet for my liking. The service was great! We had multiple servers check on our table multiple times. The food surpassed my expectations. We had breakfast mole enchiladas and a breakfast tostada with birria, both of which come with eggs to order on top. I haven't had mole sauce this delicious in a long time. It was the perfect balance of sweet and bitter, with strong cinnamon and other spice notes. The tostada was crispy and topped with crema and cabbage, and the birria was braised in a green chili sauce which was a dream. The restaurant was eerily quiet for the Sunday before Labor Day, but we had the place mostly to ourselves. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, and the interior is decorated with art and maps centering around Oaxaca. Our server was obviously new and in training, but was friendly and eager to do well. I tried to order my eggs poached, which threw him off because there wasn't a button for it on the ordering screen, so I went with over easy. I'm confident the chef could have made a poached egg, as the over easy were perfectly cooked, but I didn't think pushing on it was worth the stress to the new server :) Other staff were friendly and attentive, so our coffees and waters never went empty.
