Already planning my next trip back! Service was great - line moved fast and servers were quick on a fairly busy sunny afternoon. The space is very cool with a true Tex Mex rodeo feel with a big patio and covered spaces for a rainy day. The food? Unreal. I got two pork belly tacos and had to refrain from buying more. This was a busy place at weeknight dinner time, but the service was efficient and friendly, I had a pork breakfast taco, and the cherry sauce was amazing. The size of the taco was generous enough to be happy with just one . ( after having some chips while waiting ) The house margarita was also great ! I don't know why someone complained about the low alcohol in the drink, but mine was plenty strong. Honestly, I was underwhelmed. I had been so eagerly awaiting going to this place as I had heard about homemade tortillas and bbq meat, some of my favorite things! I liked it. The pulled pork taco was solid and the chopped brisket was good, the tequila verde chicken was shredded and juicy and yummy, the homemade flour tortillas are great. The vegan mushroom taco was not great, for me personally the corn tortillas are wayyyyy too thick and it takes away from the flavor of the filling but also no ability to eat the taco like a taco- its more of a cut into bites situation because the corn tortillas can't fold well. I didn't eat most of my vegan taco and Im super glad I didnt sub corn tortillas for all my tacos like I originally wanted to. I also ordered a side of beans because I love beans and because I think the beans at a restaurant say a lot about a restaurant. It's the small details, and the foundations if you can get that right then it's only up from there. Unfortunately, just do yourself a favor and skip that mushy pile of flavorless pinto beans. Sad. You get to choose your salsas at the counter upon ordering and you get little tiny ramekins maybe enough for one taco, so I got up a couple times to ask for more. Service was counter service, great outdoor patio and tons of seating. Drink menu looked fun. Anyways, my total was $58 (before tip) for 6 tacos and black ice tea. Overall, I probably won't be back as some tacos were solid but not something I would ever crave or something I would specifically seek out. Finally got to try Matt's BBQ tacos and these might be the best in town! I had the tequila verde chicken taco with tequila chicken, onions and cilantro on a flour tortilla. The meat was so tender and I enjoyed the green sauce with it. The portions are good and I felt that one taco can easily fill you up. The space is cute and the staff are friendly. This is a great outdoor space with ample seating. All is shaded in the late afternoon so on hot days this is a great spot to check out. We ordered the Smoke and Bees, Negroni and Tiki Luau Lounge for cocktails. We had the chopped brisket taco, sliced pork belly taco, pulled pork taco and the G.O.A.T taco for food along with chips and salsa. The staff was very helpful and laid back - we didn't feel pressured to order immediately. We finally got to check this place out & it did not disappoint! Already a big fan of the cart over at Hinterland, we were looking forward to seeing what the new Sellwood spot was all about. The tacos were fantastic. I always forget how big they are! They're larger than typical street tacos, for me 2 tacos is more than enough. Seriously, the chopped brisket taco was shockingly good...like I'm still thinking about it 3 days later good. Crispy bits mixed with super tender flavor-packed, melt-in-your-mouth goodness...honestly if all they served here was this taco I would happily support that! All kidding aside, the other tacos are great, especially the mushroom tacos. Definitely stoked they finally upgraded the chip situation, the guac & queso were delicious. Loved the ambience & the bar setup, my Cadillac margarita was great. Staff were super friendly & although it's counter service, they did have someone coming around periodically checking to see if we wanted to order anything else. This was a great spot on Milwaukee. We came in for a couple drinks and a snack. The espresso martini hit the spot, as did the margarita. The tacos were the highlight though. This is an order at the bar and sit-yourself place. We went on a Friday night and it was extremely packed. They had run out of a couple of items on the menu. BUT, the service was phenomenal! Our waitress was extremely accommodating, especially since there was a mistake with our order and we ended up waiting a long time for our food. The food was good, but my only complaint would be the portion size. The burrito was so small. Same with the tacos, which ended up making us order about 4 or 5 tacos to get full, so it gets spendy. My husband and I already love Matt's BBQ Tacos from MANY visits to the Alberta location at Great Notion. We have also enjoyed several visits to Holy Ghost! So we were excited to check out the Last Rodeo during the soft opening. The space is very cool with lots of seating, especially the large patio! I can see it getting super busy but counter service should keep things moving. The staff were all super friendly. The food is so good! We always get the brisket tacos and queso supremo but we also tried a few new things this time. You can't go wrong. We'll definitely be back and will recommend The Last Rodeo to everyone! read more

How's this for a recommendation? Our 18 year old picked The Last Rodeo as the top spot for his birthday celebration. We sat at one of the big tables on the patio and dined on assorted tacos and sides. Our favorites: chopped brisket taco, sliced pork belly taco, and The G.O.A.T taco along with waffle fries and guac with chips. Hats off as well to the trio of house sauces. I can't get enough of this place, it's my new addiction/favorite spot in Sellwood. Great smoked meats from Matt's BBQ, accompanied by amazing cocktails. They're super dog-friendly, my dog and I love to sit in the covered heated patio area. I also want to shout out the espresso martini on tap and the beef fat waffle fries. The food and beverages here are delicious enough to justify the high prices. Our table tried just about everything on the menu and several cocktails.The space is large, airy, and comfortable inside and out. However, with the exception of the two women behind the bar, this was a really cranky bunch of servers (maybe because they had to work on Labor Day?). If you don't want to be obstructed by the very long line waiting to order maybe don't have food come out of the kitchen right into the line. Better yet, avoid the line and offer table service. i met some friends here to check out a new hot spot in the neighborhood. We took the menu outside to review and came back in to order at the bar when decided. we walked past people who were clearly undecided and not even near the bar, and the bartender basically accused us of trying to cut in front of them! she even went so far as to check with them first before taking our order. They informed her that they were not ready to order, so she took ours. The menu was very limited - mostly tacos, extremely meat oriented. No fish, no chicken, 2 vegetarian options and 1 smoked turkey. Between the 3 of us we ordered 2 Smoked Turkey guacamole, pickled onion, cheddar cheese with some kind of mustard based sauce tacos, and a queso and chips. The smoked turkey tacos were suboptimal . the turkey pieces were really small and very few and far between. It wasn't even possible to taste the turkey as the mustard overpowered the entire taco. The amount of cheddar cheese was also on the minimal side. honestly it should have been called a mustard taco. The queso, quac, pico de gallo, brisket , chips option was really disappointing as well. The amount of brisket was really skimpy. Our drinks were ok, but really small, and light on the alcohol. Overall, sadly I don't think we'll make the effort to try it again. read more

The atmosphere was ok, but the food and staff sucked. I have been wanting to try this place for a while, so I went there for lunch today for the first time and I was really disappointed. I ordered 2 "supreme beef tacos" that cost me $13 with tip which the server didn't deserve, but I prepaid the tip before I got the service because you have to order at the bar first they give you a number and a server brings the food to your table. The tacos tasted horrible with way too much cinnamon or nutmeg flavor and wasn't supreme at all. Taco Bell has a better taco supreme and costs much less. To top it off the server was not friendly and extremely rude with an angry scowl on her face the entire time I asked her about water. She was just as rude and unfriendly to the customers sitting next to me. I will never go back or recommend this place. read more

Our expectations were higher than the quality of the food. This is overpriced bar food. The cheeseburger taco was overcooked and tasteless, the pork taco was very fatty, and their basic taco was fine. Service was excellent. We ate indoors and should have eaten outside since the music was so loud we couldn't hear each other. Sorry, but that's it. We won't be back.
