After enjoying brews over a very cozy fire at Dust Bowl Brewing Company, our group decided to continue the celebration of a friend's 40th at nearby Bob's Club. Interestingly, I have frequented and lived in Elk Grove for over 20 years and have never stepped foot into Bob's. Therefore, I was excited when someone in the group suggested Bob's. Upon entering, we were greeted by joyous laughter, music, and the aroma of freshly popped popcorn. Popcorn? Yes...popcorn! Apparently, when you order drinks, you have the option of being treated to complementary popcorn. Which is genius considering that this is not the kind of place where you want to drink on an empty stomach. My wife and I enjoyed our potent old fashioned as we engaged in conversation. I recommend checking out Bob's Club if you're looking for strong drinks at a decent price...don't forget to bring cash! read more

Very fun place to hang out. Even folks who don't drink, like me, can have fun. They have pool tables and lots of music you can request through an app on your phone. The Bartender, Michelle is very nice. She knows how to mix drinks. My virgin Pina Colada was very good. You can order food and they will call you on the mic that it arrived. Bob's is my go to bar. I started going there more as staff is friendly and the atmosphere of people are chill. I personally like to play a few games of pool, get a few beers in and call it a night. Always a good time at bobs. Tony is the man!! read more

Parking lot is a tad small and could be bothersome on a busy night. They often have a bouncer on weekends but the bartender will still ask for your ID. They have 3 pool tables but work on a winner plays next system. They have a popcorn machine to grab some popcorn but honestly it gives me the ick since it's a free for all. There is often times pizza on the back table for the patrons also. I have realized this is a locals only type of bar and often times feel out of place since we aren't regulars. This also transfers over into the service too. Getting a drink could take 15 + minutes because they are skipping over you for the regulars. read more

I'd say more like a 3.5 but I'll round up. I've been to Bobs a few times, my first few times were bad to be honest. It was empty and we still couldn't get service to save our lives so we stopped coming. When a friend recently said to meet her here, my husband and I kinda went ehhhh but decided to go anyways. It was a lot more packed than I had ever seen it any other time we had been so I thought for sure we'd never get our drinks, but service wasn't that bad. Beers are cheap, $5 for a corona. What I am not a fan of, is the pool table system. We wanted to come play a few rounds of pool but here, you have to put your name on a list for a table. They have 3 tables and each one has its own list. You play the winner so no playing with a group of friends, you're stuck playing whoever wins and if you lose, you can put your name on the list again. Each game is $2 also and of course the new opponent is the one paying. Most people playing were very good and so it wasn't fun playing with people not on the same playing field as yourself. The regulars also skipped the names on the board which was irritating. Overall it's not bad, much better than it was a few years ago but I mainly come to bars to have a few beers and play pool with my husband, which we couldn't do here. read more

After a long hiatus we dropped in to this local dive bar. Prices are right. It well dressed up from years past. Furnishings are very nice and on this day very clean. Admittedly it was late afternoon on a Saturday. Then again most dive bars never really clean up at all. Free popcorn was tasty and fresh. This place is CASH only. Your cards are not welcomed. There's an ATM inside if you lack adequate coin. Bartenders are as friendly as ever. read more

Went to Bob's today and had the best time! Delicious drinks are reasonably priced, fun vibe, jukebox, and billiards. The bartender gave great service, was helpful and friendly. This small local business accepts cash only, ATM nearby. Shhh, don't tell anyone else this, but, they provide free delicious pizza and wings on Wednesdays at 5pm. See you there! read more

I want to say the person who commented on they are hiding something! That's a crazy comment and you must not own or ever owned your own restaurant or bar. Sad!! Or ever enjoyed a enjoyable place for a cheap cocktail But In order for you to enjoy a cheap beverage where other places are charging double is to not to accept credit card which they charge so much just to have to machine inside your establishment. clique based bar where if you challenge the regulars for a chance at a pool table they'll turn it back on you, staff asked me to leave because i demanded i know why my name kept getting erased on their board, after a while i was told to leave and pretty much 86'd which is pathetic considering all i used were words in frustration, go elsewhere for quicker drinks and better enviroment. read more

Won't ever go here again. I agree with other comments that they run a very judge mental staff. Other words have been used but i'll stick with "judge mental". They basically cater to their "normal" clients and new people or outsiders are not welcome. God forbid you even win at pool or they'll ask you to leave. And don't ask for another drink before they ask you because then your judged for making the bartenders work. Don't waste your money here. Plenty of other options around Elk Grove. Their motto "cleanliness and hospitality always" is a joke read more

After leaving Babe lounge nearby, my bestie and I decided to stop at Bob's. It was packed, and the vibe was cool. Unfortunately, Tony was not. After eating the complimentary popcorn, we asked for water, and Tony told us that since we weren't supporting the bar by buying drinks, he would not give us water. We paid our cover charge to get into the establishment like everyone else . We decided to just leave. I have never been denied water in my life and would never deny anyone water. I haven't been to this bar in over 5 years and honestly it has turned sooo so ghetto. I was shocked looking around. I felt so uncomfortable and wanted to get out of there. There were girls at the bar purposely trying to start arguments with other patrons and it was just all around not a good bar vibe. Makes me sad cause Bob's used to be a chill place I'd go to frequently with friends. read more

I've been going here since I turn 21 years old! Gotta love the owner Vito and the bartender Vito Junior! Great guys! I have love for my favorite bartender Tony as well! I love how they keep the drinks reasonably priced! It's just a great local bar to hang out with and you always run into somebody you know there, especially if you grew up in the town of elk Grove! There's rarely any problems here as well! I just wish they would take off all the rap music off the jukebox! Come on Vito... Help me out with that, lol! read more

The bartenders are really nice and attentive. We had a retirement party for my step mom here and they were beyond helpful. They have tacos on Thursday's and Sunday's in the back. They are delicious with their spicy salsa. I've lived in EG my whole life and this was my first time going into Bobs. A super dive bar with older regulars. Cheapest drinks I've ever bought at any bar. They have several selections of beers in bottles. They offer a full bar at the best prices. The Bloody Mary I had was delicious. They have pool tables, darts, a jukebox, outside patio with heaters. read more

This place has a nice little charm to it. Walked in there and saw friendly faces. The drinks were reasonably priced and the bartender was also very nice and had a good sense of humor. The pool table was available but the Jukebox didn't work and stole my money. I'm sure they fixed it now though. I definitely plan on coming back with my buddies when I get the chance. I'm more attracted to these places than the lewd and vile nightclubs most folk go to. This place is more calm and friendly than downtown Sacramento. read more

0 stars if i could just for service and watered down drinks, ive gone into this bar 3 times and all 3 times the female blonde bartender was rude as hell, as well as ignoring most of the other customers that were trying to order, just to go to the other side of the bar counter to flirt with a couple lumberjacks, place also got pricey drinks and other staff is no where to be found, some folks might say oh you just went on a bad day, i went on a tuesday night, friday night and saturday night and all 3 times it was crappy service. Atp yall just need to hire a different bartender, im already knowing im definitely not the first to complain about her service read more

My husband and I began coming here in 2021 after being told my multiple people how awesome the staff are and how much they like it. The first couple of times we came around noon-afternoon because that was our only chance to, and we luckily always had Michelle. She is just a real happy lady and makes us and everyone feel so welcome. She is fully capable of making mixed drinks and is willing to try new recipes for those who want them which I LOVED! The owner, when he is there, usually goes around, says hi and makes sure everyone is happy. We also went on a Saturday night once and had I believe her name was April and she was also very nice, helpful, and worked hard to tend to the many folks that were there that night. It is in Elk Grove, a highly multicultural city, so the crowds there can change the longer you are there. read more

I found this place from a Pinball Machine site, since Pinball is hard to come by in Elk Grove! The bartenders are very customer focused and the place is kept clean. The building is old, but that gives it a rather unique feel! Definitely is a place for all walks of life to go, which I find to be very inclusive and inviting. Hope they get more Pinball Machines! read more

It was a cold winter Thursday. I woke up and decided that I needed some popcorn and the movie theaters seemed like an impossible task. I arrived at Bobs Bar, a bit uneasy since I wasn't a pool player by trade but I was open opportunity to learn billiards. I was met by the Bartender "Heidi" and she was a nice lady, type of lady you take on a date and hold her hand. She started popping me some popcorn and I was immediately impressed by how well the popcorn taste. Bob's is a dive, but it is also clean, cozy and comfortable (...and safe), which can't always be said for bars that fall in that category. Or many other bars in EG. Cash only (ATM inside). No beer on tap but plenty in bottles, and plenty of liquor choices for cocktails. Three pool tables, darts, *free* popcorn, an outdoor patio area...plus chips, peanuts and even burritos for sale. Found this place on yelp! Bartender: Kale was funny and cool. Sarcastic but I can hang. Made my friends and I laugh.. So I can't hate. Cool guy from our first impression, made us feel welcomed. Location: downtown Elk Grove. Description: looks dirty and run down. Has that older looking bar feel, like it's not doing so well and about to shut down soon, but I think that's what makes the place the way it is. It's clean and organized though (if that makes sense). Bathroom was clean. People are friendly. It was kinda dead when we went though. They also have darts and a jukebox thingy majiggy that looks very modern and doesn't really match the rest of the decor. Music: it was mainly country and alternative rock. Lexie was worst bartender I've ever come across. First I over heard a conversation where she was saying she was a full while female American and being oppressed, not sure the context of the conversation, but political and personal views shouldn't be brought into the work place. She singled out my boyfriend, first saying that the only thing he could drink was water, then made him walk in a straight line (he was sober) and then served him again. After that, she caused a huge scene in the bar, stopping the music and saying she wasn't going to serve anyone until our group left. Didn't do ANYTHING wrong while we were there. Didn't cause any problems. She singled us out and didn't give an explanation as to why. Will NEVER return due to the terrible service provided. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. This place is extremely racist and kicked my son out of the bar when he was with a bunch of people who were drinking because he was not drinking and was the DD. You would think that they would offer him a free soda and be like I'm glad you're here, so that doesn't fall back on their bar. So stupid! If I were you, I would avoid this place at all costs. I really don't want to give them a 5 star review. I don't want this place to be flooded with a bunch of people. I can't be selfish tho.. This place is sort of Old School which is what I like. The Bartenders are Awesome. I wish I was a heavy drinker so I could buy more BEER, because the bartenders are great. LOL. But I am a lightweight. Stopped by after running errands in the area. Met up with some friends who attend regularly. Out of the blue the bartender tells a friend (who happens to be African American) that she was no longer serving him. This was totally unprovoked.
