We can't say enough good things about this National City gem. Stopped by after our early morning walk to grab some breakfast. Croissant breakfast sandwiches are always so tasty and flaky. Donuts are always fresh. Staff is always friendly and very helpful. Great vibes all around..... This is why we keep coming back!!

This is one of my favorite donut shops. The quality is always great and each donut is a decent portion. My only dislike is that they don't make very many Oreo bars so you gotta get them while they have them lol I'm not sure if this is a family owned business but everyone that I've met at this location has been genuinely amazing.

Hands down, my favorite donut shop in San Diego County! Located on Highland Ave in National City, Plaza Donuts is a great place to stop in for a fresh donut and a cup of coffee. Want to treat your Coworkers? Plaza donuts offers a quantity of 14 donuts per "dozen", and for those of us working in the hours before the sun rises, they have boxes of assorted donuts ready to go to make it even more convenient for a quick stop before heading in to the office! Plaza Donuts also offers a spacious seating area with tables and chairs for those who are not in a hurry! It was their maple bacon donuts that brought me in, but it is their warm, friendly, and genuine smiles and service that keep me coming back.

I reckon I set myself up for a less than perfect Experience. As a young sailor in the 1980's Id visit this shop of a morning on leave have a cup of coffee and a donut while doing a load of laundry at the nearby Laundromat ,because I only had my laundry done onboard while we were deployed for a spell. I was greeted with a smile by the friendly server at the front. I was disappointed that they didn't sell the creme filled donut that I wanted . This location only has custard filled. So I settled for a apple fritter which was not too bad.. Hind sight suggest that I should have politely excused myself rather than settle for. Since I was seeking a donut not a life partner I dismissed that notion. The coffee was good and hot which I realize is important for many coffee drinkers. To me as long as it tastes good I'm ok with it. What I did NOT appreciate was that this spot did not give free refills on coffee. I can ALMOST understand only one free frfill with a donut purchace. I reckon the want to make room for new customers. i get it but they didn't realize that in San Diego County there are MANY donut shops that do give free refills to paying customers. And that's who will get my future donut and coffee business. I wanted to linger, and enjoy a second cup of coffee as I finished the chapter in the book I was reading. Deprived, of that simple pleasure, I took my book and apple fritter out to my van where I keep a few packets of instant coffee and creamer available for times such as these. At this point I no longer felt welcome so once The coffee was made I headed to the Chula Vista Post office While enjoying my instant coffee and remainder of the apple fritter. For me it was a disappointment as I was trying to relive a happy moment in time some 40 years past as a young sailor new to the area. At nearly 6 bucks plus maybe a quart of gas and about 15 minute one way. i feel I could have had a better experience at a more local shop. I'll not be back. if your principals aren't too high, and you're not looking for a creme filled donut, with no refills on coffee, You might like this place. I will say that the person at the counter was friendly and engaged me in conversation. Which normally would attract me back, but given they don't sell my favorite donut, and there are numerous donut shops much closer that do give free refills, I'll put Plaza Donuts on the One and Done List. if you like apple fritters you may like this place.

The ladies here are really top-notch. They're super friendly, make a really good croissant sandwich, and they throw in a donut hole with each purchase. Also, they take Apple Pay which helps since I left my wallet at the tax place down the street. Lol I got a medium coffee (add whichever creamer you'd like after), a baker's dozen donut holes (14 pieces here), and a ham, sausage, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich. No complaints and again these ladies are some of the nicest people you'll meet. Lots of variety for their donuts also. Would def pay them a visit the next time I'm in the area.

First time here, and I came because of the reviews. They definitely did not disappoint. It was almost 6 PM, and the doughnuts still tasted fresh and delicious. They didn't taste old or like they had been sitting out for hours. The place was also clean, and the guy who helped us was incredibly kind with such a contagious smile and great attitude. He even gave us some free doughnut holes. We will definitely be coming back!!!

Today we experienced Plaza Donuts fir the first time and love this. The ladies working are so nice and friendly, I think we would come back just for them. Their donut cases at the counter are fully stocked with beautiful donuts and croissants. We ordered a ham, egg and cheese on croissant and a ham bacon egg and cheese on croissant. These sandwiches are huge so we ate half and we are saving the other halves for tomorrow. We were so excited that we forgot to take a photo of the sandwiches before we started eating. Very good sandwiches. We ordered a half dozen donuts and these are fresh and delicious. The dining area has room for 16 people to sit. This is an excellent donut restaurant to visit and is now a staple for us on our visits to San Diego.

    Best place!

I haven't had a donut this GOOD in a really long time! Super soft and great taste.. I can't get over how soft these are.. Just simply satisfying! The lady does sell out fast so you kinda have to see what times and days are best to go. I went Saturday like around 12ish and everything was stocked up.. The lady that's always there serving (I'm assuming she's the owner) is really nice.. If you choose to eat your donuts there it's really chill quiet and you can just relax and enjoy your donuts, great ambience.. Over all HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place! Don't sleep on this one they are AMAZING!

    Do they sell French Cruller?

    Sorry, no.

How much do they sell a grouping of donut-holes for? And for how many? Thanks!

14 glazed donuts holes for $1.75

    Price per dozen?

Generally 11-14$ depending on what you pick. Some of their specialty donuts are a little more :)

Everyone tends to look for boba but forgets that this joint is here too. It's located on the busy Plaza Blvd. It's in the same strip center as Island Pacific and Titas Kitchen, so depending on what time you go, parking is either good or bad. There is the bigger lot closer to Island Pacific but then you gotta walk a little more to the place. The place itself is decently cleaned. It's a cute little hangout spot with an ok amount of seating. They got games in there too if you hangout with friends. I had no issues with service. There was one girl working at the time and she was hustling making and taking orders. She was friendly and attentive so A+ to her. The dessert was actually really yummy. I had the Halo Halo Ice Cream Rolls and the ube flavor was pretty good. It wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. I liked the little tributes to halo halo (red bean, jelly, wafer). My friend had the banana pudding ice cream rolls and those were really good. I love the banana taste and the nilla wafer was a great addition. I really feel bad that I keep forgetting about this place. They deserve a bit more love and recognition. If I want dessert that isn't boba, I'm definitely going to be paying them a visit more. I also want to try their sugarcane drinks one day so I will be back!

That prompted me to make a final visit as I used to frequent the PB store when it was still around. The original Vietnamese owner started the business in 2014 by sourcing unique flavors from Hawaii. With more competition and inflation, it was sad to hear that Hammond's was no longer able to sustain their mission anymore. I fondly recall one visit in which I came with a large group, and we split a 32-flavor flight. I loved being able to sample all of the different varieties, but it was hard to get to all of them before they started melting. Hammond's was one of the first local ice cream shops that offered flights as an option. The menu here also served floats, shakes, sundaes, and cookie skillets. I don't recall such options at the PB spot which focused on scoops and flights. There were about 30 flavors written on a marker board posted on a wall. The choices didn't seem as fruity or exotic compared to the early days. On this occasion, I opted for a medium sized cup with two different flavors... Mackinac Island Fudge and Strawberry Cheesecake. The first one had swirls of chocolate from the upper peninsula of Michigan mixed in with a vanilla base. The second one was a fairly standard variety that you will find at most ice cream places. I did like the collections of ice cream scoops that were mounted on the walls as decor. This North Park venue had several tables and a countertop for inside seating. It was likely the largest of what was one time three locations of the business. Thank you to Hammond's for your past decade of service to the SD community!

Their goblet chandelier, live wood countertop and mural in the back are the same, but what they're scooping and serving has sadly changed. Well this place is closing soon and I can see why.
