Walking into the Plaza Premium Lounge, I had pretty realistic expectations -- especially coming from frequent visits to lounges like the American Express Centurion Lounge and Delta Sky Club. Unfortunately, this one didn't quite measure up. The overall experience felt a bit underwhelming. The space itself could definitely use some TLC -- the furniture looked worn and dated, and it gave off more of a tired, well-used vibe rather than a relaxing pre-flight retreat. One of the bigger misses for me was the lack of accessible power outlets, which is something you really come to rely on when traveling. That said, it wasn't a terrible stop -- just not quite what I've come to expect from premium lounge experiences (as its name would imply). With a refresh and a few updates, it could easily be brought back up to par. For now, it's serviceable, but not somewhere I'd go out of my way to revisit. read more

As part of my 12 hour layover at the Vancouver airport, I had to use up all my lounge access for the year as I still had 4 visits available. I was looking for a Plaza lounge. I saw one that looked like a little cafe and there was no chance I was going to waste it there. After walking a bit I stumbled upon this one, walked a little further and didn't see another one so came here to kill a little bit of time. When I went to check in, I was told that I couldn't be here for more than 2 hours. I don't ever recall being told this in Asia at the Plaza lounges but that was fine. I checked in, took the elevator up and looked around. The area is actually pretty spacious but it's not obvious as there are a few different areas. The thing is, I think there was more people upstairs than there was areas to sit. I went to get a coffee and checked out what they were serving. They were serving breakfast but they were transitioning to lunch so I waited a little longer as the eggs, bacon and other items didn't look that great. When they rolled over the food items, I grabbed a plate of a few lunch items to sample. I had to walk around the area 2 or 3 times to finally find an open seat. I sat down and tried the plate I just put together. It was OK, nothing really stood out from it. They also offered some free drinks. I didn't really pay to much attention to it as I was satisfied with my coffee. There were a few TVs and there was a nice view overlooking the airport. The lounge looks a bit well used as some of the items look like it could use a refresh. Transiting through YVR and used my CMB (China Merchants Bank) app to generate a QR code for entry. The staff at the front desk (Indian male) struggled to scan it, even after several attempts. When I presented my physical CMB Visa Gold card, he claimed he didn't recognize it. Luckily, his Chinese colleague nearby immediately identified it as a CMB card and processed it within seconds. The frustrating part happened as I walked away: I overheard the first staff member immediately making excuses to his colleague, claiming he had asked if it was a CMB card to avoid taking responsibility for his lack of knowledge. The service was ultimately successful thanks to the second staff member, but the first one's defensive attitude and lack of professionalism were quite off-putting. read more

Power outlets work on a roulette system--one in three if you're lucky--and the single work booth looks like it's survived a mild earthquake and lost. It's not glamorous, not even close. My last review of this place was 8 years ago, and I can tell you that someone needs to demo and do a do over. Still, for the weary traveler staring down another flight to Calgary or Saskatoon, this tired lounge offers a small mercy. Love this Lounge! It's cool because you start checking in downstairs, and the lounge is up a spiral staircase overlooking the rest of the airport. Comfy tables with benches or regular chairs, or the option to sit in these fluffier lounge chairs like the solo couch style. Mostly quiet chatter, and people napping about. Service staff was sweeping the lounge floor and tidying tables & empty dishes continuously, at least every 15 minutes and even helping others find seating together. Self service for food, options were plenty and way tastier than at the other lounge down the way. If you're gonna get lounge food at YVR come to this one! Drinks are made quickly and easily at a counter. Food was super delicious, no complaints! Will be back again for my next domestic flight. read more

Pretty average as far as lounges go. This was my second visit here after going out of my way to come early for a pre-flight meal. Seating was quite limited on this weekday evening - I walked around to see what was available and settled on a small table in the bar area. Food selection was fair. They had a tasty chicken entree in white wine, some pasta, salad selection and some soup among other alternatives. Everything was self serve except for the bar. For dessert a few kinds of cookies were available. I had a SteamWorks beer with my dinner and settled in to my area. I wouldn't call the lounge peaceful given how many people were about but it was nice to have a little room of my own before getting on an even more crowded flight. What could have made this experience better would have been more comfortable seating, a more thorough food selection and table service. I used one of my credit card's perks to enter this lounge but would not have been happy having paid $35-40 for entry - it's just not worth it. read more

Gayle's favorite saying as we plan our trips is: Who wouldn't want to be comfortable? Hence, straight coach and waiting for our plane at the gate often will "not do". I forget which of our credit cards get us into a Priority Pass member lounge, but we're on that app at every airport. The Plaza Premium Lounge at YVR was located just steps from our gate and after US Customs. We had an 8:05 AM flight and due to Gayle's "Departure Anxiety", we were at the entrance at 6 AM. That was very good as the Lounge was lightly attended at that time. Food and beverage selection was better than expected, although Gayle's traditional Bloody Mary would have to wait until she got on the plain. Within the hour, the place filled up significantly, including large families, with an occasional screaming toddler. We graciously gave up our spot to a nice family, and did alright settling in a couple tables over. These Lounges don't match the Business Class Lounge experience, but it is better than sitting at the gate. Lounge staff were friendly and hard working. read more

Came here before a morning flight because I had a voucher from a credit card. It was nice to stop somewhere to eat and relax before flying. This lounge was pretty easy to find near my gate, and the entrance seemed quite polished and extravagant. It was decorated with Christmas trees for the season as well! You take an elevator up to the next floor where the buffet and bar are. The breakfast buffet was okay... regular scrambled eggs, sausages, and some hash browns that were kind of soggy. Breakfast food at a domestic lounge never impresses me lol. I enjoyed their tea selection though! I liked that they had Earth's Own Barista soy milk, free to use. They also had a wide range of cold salads and little cake desserts. I didn't try them though. I tried some of the yogurt which was pretty good too. Nice couches and a relaxing atmosphere in general. Other than an Air Canada lounge, the Plaza Premium Lounge is the only other lounge available in the US outbound terminal. It's a a very small lounge but it is a 100X upgrade after the renovation of the old lounge when it was even more cramped and there were seats so dirty you would want to sit on. The lounge opens at 0500 which is perfect for me because I always seem to be flying out no later than 0630. Despite of being a small lounge, I have to give thumbs up ti the hot item selections: scrambled eggs which do not taste like reconstituted egg powder, breakfast wieners with casing that pops upon biting into, and crispy hash browns. The coffee machines provide a number of coffee options. The foods are much better than first class breakfast offerings on short haul flights to the US. The bar doesn't open till 0900 but it is likely due to local regulations which are archaic and puritanical. The decor of the lounge isn't very inspiring but it is limited probably to size. One suggestion to the check in agent ... I was asked "how can I help you?" upon approaching the front desk. What could I possibly be going into the lounge for??? I have never been asked such a question going into any airline / airport lounge. Say "welcome to the Plaza Premium Lounge. May I see your membership and your boarding pass please?" This single question from the argent gives off a vibe that the lounge is not equipped with serving experienced travelers. read more

We looked on line for this Lounge online at YVR. Due to being a Premium Airline club Member we were able to access free. I must say the The WestJet Lounge in YYC is way better for food selections. All food & alcohol drinks are free in Calgary Lounge if Silver Gold, Platinum membership. The fancy Alcohol drinks such as a Cesar you have to pay at YVR. I really don't understand the purpose of this lounge. I assumed paying to get in would mean better quality food. The food was probably the same company that would cater to a prison or hospital. We decided to try Plaza Premium Lounge in the International Terminal, during our layover in YVR. Although we heard great things about the Air Canada lounge nearby, I've enjoyed some Plaza Premium Lounges in Asia in the past, so I figured it was a pretty safe bet in YVR. First off, the check-in process seemed a bit antiquated. Instead of scanning our boarding passes/passports like every other lounge I've ever been to, they looked our names up on a paper printout they already had behind the counter. I'm guessing because we were flying Business Class with ANA that our names happened to be on there, but it was certainly an odd check-in process for 2023. While the lounge itself is fairly spacious, we found the lounge filled up pretty quickly as passengers were nearing their flight times. Thankfully, we were able to snag our choice of seating early on before the rush. The seats and decor were pretty old and outdated, and desperately in need of replacement. Outlets were limited, and a single outlet needed to be shared between two seats. Added to the fact that seemingly a decent number of outlets were not even working forced us to seat hop around a few times until we could find a working one. There's not a large selection of hot foods available, but we appreciate the fact that they kept the trays pretty full. There were two different hot soup options available as well, one of which was labeled as some variety of chicken vegetable noodle soup. Unfortunately, while there were certainly a gracious amount of veggies in the soup, I couldn't find a single piece of chicken. There are quite a few non-alcoholic drinks available, as well as a limited selection of alcoholic varieties. For some reason they keep all of the dessert in a glass case near the bar, accessible only to the bartender on duty. So we needed to pester him every time we wanted a few cubes of cake. It didn't help that the bartender only understood limited English, so he often served us the wrong dessert pieces. read more

A comfortable place to relax for a few hours in between flights with great food. I visit the Plaza Premium lounge at B gates at YVR about once per month and the food is always great and changes every now and then to provide a nice variety for the regular traveler. Currently the Lamb stew and Eggplant Parmigiano is delicious, and I've tried to copy the Quinoa salad recipe at home but I'm missing something they use in their secret dressing I met Chef Angela on her rounds and had a pleasant conversation with her regarding her 'closely guarded' recipes. I have the Priority Pass and to me it is worth getting the Priority Pass because I used to travel a lot for work and for leisure. I do enjoy when traveling for fun to go to a much nicer lounge than the one that I get to go into for free all the time: Maple Leaf Lounge. This is a step up to the maple leaf lounge. Food isn't like super delicious but it is decent. Unlike the Maple Leaf lounge where food is sometimes not edible. Also food here is a lot fresher and has a lot more variety. On top, I do like their drink selections. Of course this can't be compared to lounges in Asia. It is not cheap to get access to this lounge. One thing I do like here are their desserts. Also their seats are a lot more comfortable compared to the seats inside Maple Leaf lounge. Note that due to Covid, many of their Premium Lounges are not open and as a result if you have the Priority Pass, you can use it at specific restaurants and get $37 off the bill per guest pass. It cost $199 to buy 4 guest passes. So it is not a bad deal if you think about it that way. read more

Definitely gets busy quick! Especially for middle of the day Monday... I want to know what you all do for work. Food was pretty on point - raviolis, a chicken in butter sauce, jasmine rice & steamed veggies, a bit on the dry side Bundt cakes, bite size cupcakes, some rolls, and a delicious, creamy pasta salad. Coming right off the left of the domestic board security, I was greeted by a nice staff member who checked my lounge and boarding passes before letting me go upstairs to the lounge. It's a nice open space. I prefer the lounges on the second floor because the ceiling is super high and it feels very spacious. There was a lot of food, but nothing to rave about. The open bar had a variety of drinks and they were made well. The espresso machine makes hot chocolate which was really nice for a cold night. I'm very disappointed at the Plaza Premium Lounge in Vancouver Airport! The food was terrible. The only hot food available was some nasty looking fried potatoes, Luke warm and watery scrambled eggs and some salty sausages. No Green teas, no individual yogurt cups, no banana, no baked beans, no coleslaw, no cookies, no muffins, no juice... If you are looking for a place to sit, check emails and drink some coffee, then it's ok. But this is not a high class lounge and washroom is not clean with only 2 toilets. So if you need to go and both toilets are occupied, you are in SH*T! This lounge is no comparison with the new Plaza Premium Lounge I visited recently in Toronto. The Master Card Travel App is also user unfriendly. It took about 5 minutes for us to check in. You have to log in from scratch each time and the app doesn't remember you, so you have to enter all the info each time. Worst of all, the app doesn't allow you to copy and paste your password from your Password Keeper. You have to be an idiot to pay $37 per person to use the lounge, if your credit card does not provide it for free! read more

Pros; - Cleanliness is great. One of the cleaner lounges I've ever stepped into. - Staff is exceptional and really nice - Lots of food options. They have warm food which is always great. (Quick tip - if Ravioli is available grab it right away, as the kids these days say, " IT SLAPS") - Restrooms are top notch. Unfortunately, this was one of the saddest airport lounges I have visited. The space was small and dark with only a few selections of hot entrees. I wish there were some more fruit options as well. This lounge didn't live up to the others I have been to. Luckily it was open at 5am and they had food coffee and a place to sit. The water and juice machine were out of service which was a bummer when you just want water. Also the pancakes were cold and the food wasn't the greatest quality. The men's bathroom was also out of service during our visit as well. The tables were frequently cleared and cleaned. Everything was pretty clean and quiet for the most part, although we were there before the crack of dawn. They had a refrigerator with lots of sodas, a coffee machine which made specialty coffees, fresh fruit consisting of bananas and apples and a breakfast of eggs, beef sausage, pancakes, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt and salad. It was better than nothing but it could use some improvements. Also, they don't serve alcohol until after 11am, awesome in my book! Other people didn't like that. This is located just outside security. We passed it because it looks like an open coffee shop. No walls. No bathrooms. No TVs. Not much there. A few tables and maybe 6 comfortable chairs. All were taken by families, small unattended children and luggage. Apparently there is no time limit here. Very limited food selections. No snacks at all. The two people working were very nice, but this isn't the nicest lounge. I think you'd be happier at the Starbucks. read more

Still a good way to comfortably wait for a flight, but I'd only use one of my free Priority Pass visits on it versus paying. After flying in one plane and then having a long layover, this was sorely needed. They serve butter chicken (moist), Spanish rice, eggs salad sandwiches, various cold salads, hard liquor, desserts such as cookies and cake, pretzels, fresh fruit, etc. The chairs and sofas are a welcome after long flights in cramped seats and it's quiet. Lounge is smaller than most but mighty in service and food options! The staff is very efficient and kind, keeping the line for food and the cleanup for leaving visitors very fast. The lounge is only separated from the terminal by ropes rather than being walled off or on another level, so it took me a moment to realize where it was, but I liked that this allowed people watching and convenient access for my short layover. Breakfast is decent, the eggs and potatoes were nothing to rave about but I really liked the raspberry pastry and the latte was great. The small tiramisu cake was dry and flavorless unfortunately.
