    Garlic parmesan wings
    Sharon B.

We walked in & waited to be seated due to limited staff. My husband & I came on Thursday because they have happy hour specials all day until 7p. Our waitress was nice & approached our table after we were seated. We ordered the happy hour garlic parmesan wings, cheese fries, uptown margarita's, shark bite drink & chicken tacos. Our wings were very good in flavor & size, our fries & taco's were not hot @ all like they were sitting back there for awhile. We understood they were understaffed but they only had less than 10 customer's in the restaurant area & more in the bowling areas. The management came over to ask us how our food was early on which was nice of them to check on their customers. One of the manager's even recognized their regular group of ladies & spoke w/ them as well. Also; our waitress Kylee M. took a long time in between to check on us & we had to go up to the bartender to find our waitress so we can get our bill & a to go box. We will definitely be back to enjoy happy hour again & hoping next time all our food brought out hot. A tip; I just found out on Yelp for this restaurant you can receive 20% off your bill as well.

Ask the Community - Uptown Alley

Is this a good place to entertain out of town friends with just food and drinks?

It's great for out of town friends. There is so much to do here that everyone can have fun. Depending on the day, you can get a steal with $2 Tacos on Tuesdays to All you can bowl for $10 on Friday's or Tuesdays.

Can I just go there for the arcade? Or do I have to get food?

You can definitely go just for the arcade. No need to buy food.

How does this place work? I've never been here, but I'm wanting to take my son bowling and have lunch after. Are we able to bowl, play in the arcade, and get a table for lunch after? Is there a long wait time during lunch?

You should be able to do all three just as you described. I am not sure the wait for a table as we ordered food from a server while we bowled, but I would guess it wouldn't be too long of a wait. Check their specials online before you go as certain…

Conveniently located right off Grand Ave (US 60) in a little strip mall right in the heart of Surprise. Tons of ample parking for you and some of your closest friends! We were greeted immediately when we walked in. Contrary to what a few of the other reviews have said, you do ** NOT ** need to bring quarters with you. Obviously, you can. But it's not necessary. The nice gentleman running the place today gladly took our $20 bill and give us a few $5 bills back. From there, you can go to their change machine in the back, chuck in your $1 bills or $5 bills and it'll spit out quarters at you. Once you've got your pockets full of quarters, head over to one of the many machines and be prepared to be entertained! It's $1 per game. I know, but this ain't 1984 anymore so a dollar per game checks out. We blew through our $20 in a hair over an hour. It is incredibly clean inside! The machines functioned with no issues at all and I can't stress enough about how clean the machines (and everything) was here at Player 1! If you want to partake in some soda or alcohol, they can serve you up some refreshments while you've got your hands full with a pinball machine. Super fun way to spend a hot summertime afternoon here in Arizona. We will DEFINITELY be back. Such a cool place. Can't recall the last time I saw this many pinball machines lined up in a row. I think I was listening to Van Halen on cassette on my boom box. Highly recommended, friends! Go check them out!

My favorite was the Take on Me mural, but Bowie, Prince and Ghostbusters are cool too. They had Beastie Boys. It's not loud, but not crowded on Sunday. They have a pinball league. Unfortunately, this place has changed & not for the better (I am sorry to say)…read more We had several issues. When we walked in, we purchased the bowling (amongst other things). The kids wanted to do that first so we walked straight to the bowling (right behind & in close proximity to the front desk). We had been told by the front desk gal we purchased from that the attendant manning the bowling area would get us set up, give us our balls, etc. We walked a few steps over there and it was obvious that employee could not help us as it appeared a lady had been hit in the face with a bowling ball or some other similar medical emergency. Understandably, the employee could not get us set up so we returned to the front desk to ask if that worker we had purchased bowling from could just hand us our balls. We figured since there were 4 lanes, maybe we could play in the one on the far left since incident occurred on the lane to the far right. We were told that we could not bowl (by another employee) due to the incident. We were told we would need to wait to play. I get it, but I wish we had been offered the option of a refund. No such offer. We decided then to go into the playground area, Ballocity, whilst waiting for this incident to clear. We were quite surprised to find that there were multiple buckets collecting water from a ceiling leak INSIDE THE PLAYGROUND AREA! This was completely unsanitary and poses multiple safety hazards (including, but not limited to, slipping and falling, kids playing in the disgusting water, etc.). To make matters worse, my youngest child advised me that there was tons of water on the ground up above in the top level of the play structure!!! Talk about unsafe. I climbed up there myself to validate what he had told me and sure enough it was correct. This entire play structure should be closed until this leaking water situation is corrected. Additionally, many of the games were out of order and not operational. The Sonic Basketball game would still take credits off of cards, but unfortunately, we soon realized that there are not even any balls in the game with which to play. Totally unfortunate. We did not even use all the credits we bought. We got out of there. I hope they are not going to go out of business soon. I am very concerned, from a business standpoint, that they may not be bringing in enough money to maintain their facility. PLEASE LOOK AT MY PHOTOS BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO BRING YOUR CHILDREN HERE.

It took about 30-40 minutes to actually get our food so always really an hour from when we ordered to when we got our food. I did enjoy the buffalo wings we had as appetizers. I also was not very partial to either the guac or the cauliflower elote as the flavors were a bit bland on those appetizers. There are billiards, and a bowling alley, Japanese karaoke, and spo-cha, an indoor sports area. There is a snack bar and a cocktail bar. It's definitely loud and flashy, with flashing lights everywhere. It felt like a gamble-free casino. We did an hour of bowling before having lunch. We were there at opening, so there was only one other lane being used. We are not regular bowlers, but we had a great time. For 1 hour of bowling and two shoe rentals it cost $42 ish dollars. We grab lunch about 11:30. We weren't able to get cocktails as the bar doesn't open until noon. We ordered a teriyaki burger, tater tots, gyoza, and a pepperoni pizza. The gyoza was really good, but the rest was your standard bowling alley/arcade fast food. We bought two $25 play cards. Different games and machines costs a certain amount of credits. We ran through those cards pretty quickly and refilled once. Some of those new Japanese video games are really fun! Cons: the cost adds up very quickly at this place. Be prepared to drop some money. Also our food experience wasn't great. I asked for a water cup and was told they're not allowed to give out water cups because there's a water fountain near the entrance. Water fountains gross me out. It wasn't like we hadn't spent almost $50 on food and my son did buy a soda. I really don't think it's too much to ask for a cup for water to drink while you eat. Also they called our number and we went to pick up the food they realized they never prepared the burger we ordered. So we got all of our food except the burger and had to wait for that. At the last minute they let us know that they were out of lettuce which was supposed to be on the burger. Wasn't a big deal but it would be nice to have what we ordered. Pros: this place is really fun. Although you will drop a dime or two, the payoff is big. It looked like almost everybody had gotten something from the claw machines. I only tried it once and didn't get anything, but we left with two large plushies, a medium plushie, a small plushie, and a sanrio lanyard. We also got enough tickets to get my son a Pop Killer brand t-shirt. We've ordered from PopKiller before, and those T-shirts are $32 each. So in the end, It kind of balanced itself out.

Round1 Arcade: A Shameful Bait and Switch…read more We came to Round1 expecting fun, fair games, and a good time with family. What we got instead was a masterclass in how to ruin a loyal customer's experience through petty power trips and shady tactics. First night in? Fantastic. I dropped $120, armed with my season pass card, and my sixteen-year-old son -- a dedicated baseball player -- found a game called Down the Clown. He figured out how to win it every time, putting his focus and skills to good use. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating. They stood by, ready to swipe their employee cards if the machines needed resetting. They were friendly, helpful, and seemed genuinely happy to see people enjoying themselves. Fast forward to tonight -- another $120 spent -- and suddenly my son was treated like a criminal for being good at the game. A high-and-mighty supervisor parked himself next to him, clearly bothered that a teenager was winning fair and square. While my son was playing one of two side-by-side machines, the supervisor sneakily tossed balls back in for the other one, messing with the timer we'd let run out. When the machine needed an employee swipe to award tickets (standard procedure the night before), he flat-out refused, saying he wouldn't swipe until it "showed the total number of tickets owed," which can take 10-20 minutes. He seriously expected my kid to just stand there doing nothing -- while the night before, staff checked in every five minutes to keep things moving. It gets worse. When we left to find someone else to help, we came back to discover 75% of the balls had mysteriously vanished. Another manager up front admitted she saw the supervisor himself carrying an armful of balls into the office! And then, insult to injury, they spun some nonsense story about how Down the Clown is "only supposed to have seven balls," as if we hadn't played the exact same machines the night before with no issue. Here's the truth: Round1 is apparently fine with taking your money as long as you don't win too much -- especially if you're a kid who's actually good at the games. Once you do, they'll treat you like you're cheating, waste your time, and pull cheap tricks to shut you down -- instead of just being upfront about any limits or rules (if they even exist). Save your money. Spend it at an arcade that knows how to treat paying customers -- and kids -- with respect. Round1 clearly doesn't.

I also presented a complimentary Basic Pass voucher that I had received on a previous visit. The cashier told me that the Basic Pass only covered the trampolines, but since we wanted access to the deluxe attractions, we would need to upgrade. That was completely fine with me. However, instead of charging the Shorty Pass upgrade price for my child under 40 inches, I was charged the full Deluxe Pass price of $26.99 instead of the $11.99 Shorty Pass. After realizing the mistake, I spoke with the manager. Rather than correcting the pricing error or issuing a refund for the difference, I was told that no refunds could be given and was offered another Basic Pass voucher. That does not resolve the issue. I didn't want another Basic Pass--I simply wanted to be charged the correct price for my child based on the pass that should have applied. This situation could have easily been avoided if employees were properly trained on the different pass options and how promotional vouchers can be applied. Customers shouldn't have to pay more because of employee misinformation. I hope Urban Air improves its staff training so this doesn't happen to other families.
