Back here with some member , boy are they unhappy. Pro shop staff lead team is totally not engaged. Slow play beyond all on Friday. They don't even care about slow play. We called and they said nothing or did nothing. Marshall' s are terrible they don't push anyone. And the lead guys in pro shop have been at wente tooo long they act as though they do not even care. There are people playing golf in tee shirts and out of dress code , not a big deal but cmon. Course is probably worse I've seen it in 5 years. Whoever their sup is , is not growing grass. Great track everything else terrible not worth $160 a round to have a dirty cart no range balls and slow play. read more

We played out there today and it is a beautiful course. It's challenging, but the tee boxes are arranged to fit your skill level. It is beautifully maintained and a unique gorgeous geography to the course. The pro shop and golf shop are very nice. Everything is very well-maintained. The only hesitation I have in giving it an additional star was the service level. When I got to the bag drop off, there were two young men talking. I opened my trunk and they never looked up and I asked if they could get my bag and then they look kind of surprised and one of them helped me. I ran into another woman that was playing in our group and she said they did the same thing to her. She ended up taking her bag out and putting it on the cart and they never attempted to help her. Also, when we started playing there was a food drink cart girl out on the course. When we got to the cart, she was eating and getting her water ready and never asked us if we wanted anything. After we finished playing on the Green, she was still there eating her breakfast and getting a her special drink together. Never asked if we wanted anything. Over three hours later, we ran into her and told her that we wish you had come earlier cause some of us were hungry I had to share a sandwich that I brought. She said it was a good thing. I brought the sandwich because all she had was snacks. For some reason, we were also put behind a fivesome and we were three threesomes when he asked the Marshall about that he said don't they let men go out as fivesome at our course? Interest though you these men were worse slower golfers than any of the ladies in our groups, it was very slow. I played here on Friday, first time and it's way over priced. The greens were terrible, fairways were soggy and to be honest the service was bad. For $190 you would expect it to be decent with good service but that wasn't the case at all. I wouldn't play there again and don't recommend it. read more

Very nice and scenic golf course in Livermore. Definitely some challenging holes nestled in the hills of Livermore. What I like are that there are no houses in the area! My favorites are hole 1 and 18. The most challenging holes in my opinion are 6 and 14. You must hit precision shots on those holes or you'll be in trouble. As of 8/5, no golf course has welcomed golfers with flawless COVID-19 protocol better than the folks at Wente! First, as you pull up to the front gate, an attendant confirms your tee time and has you fill out a brief health questionnaire. Next, you pull onto the property and enter an auxiliary parking lot where another attendant takes your temperature. Here you wait until 20 minutes prior to your tee time. Then, you pull into the main parking lot in front of the clubhouse where another attendant brings your single-rider cart to your vehicle -- and disinfects it one last time. Check-in is outside with social distance markings and ropes to guide you. There are limited beverages for sale next to check-in, as well. The entire staff was very pleasant and all were wearing masks. I failed to mention the course is in amazing condition! Tee boxes, bunkers, and greens are in fantastic shape! This is hands down the beat course in the Bay Area. It's got a $150ish price tag on it, but it is worth every penny. The course is immaculate from the tee box to the greens this is very well maintained. They have GPS carts which is also nice especially if you haven't played the course before. The staff was very nice, although it did make me want to become a member seeing how well those folks are treated! Not that I was treated bad, but you know, being a member has its perks. Overall I had a blast at this course and the pace of play was stellar. No waiting and no getting pushed. Truly an awesome round of golf. I've already booked my next tee time here. While scrambling to find an 18 hole course to play on for Saturday on a Friday night (yes, I am very last minute sometimes), I found reasonable tee times (before 12:30 pm) for only The Course @ Wente and Callippe Preserve. Given that I'm not a long hitter, I decided to go for Course @ Wente. After driving 40 minutes to get to my noon tee time, I arrived in awe of the beautiful white cement entrance that gave way to an expansive parking lot. The course pro shop is on the left and upon parking, I began to feel quite relaxed, marveling at how quiet it was. The gentleman manning the shop was very polite and seemed to be expecting me. I had booked online, but he explained they didn't charge my card until I arrived and so I presented my card. I got a bit of a deal at $136 for this round and was more than happy to put in on a different credit card that would give me more points :) I didn't have enough time to truly shop around, but they sell beautiful headcovers with the course logo on them as well as various apparel. The course overall I would actually give 4.5 stars. Even though pretty much everything was in fantastic condition, benchmarking against private courses I've played, I think the greens are the weakness. On some holes they are a bit bumpy. Overall, the course has lots of tees for all sorts of hitters, the fairways are in good condition and for the most part, not too challenging. The greens are pretty fast. Golf carts have GPS on them and also do have a lot of messaging, but I didn't really feel bothered by them. My favorite part is that since the worst of winter decided to come after I played here, there were still plenty of fall leaves on the grapevines, making for an absolutely stunning scenery throughout the course. Overall, it's a bit of a drive for me as there was traffic on the way back to the Peninsula, lengthening the drive by an additional 30 minutes. However, I'd come back as a once in awhile treat and to also redeem my driving. For some reason, while driver accuracy has always been a strength of mine lately, it fell apart while I was here. However, because the course is not terribly long, I was able to salvage a decent score thanks to recent practice on my approach and short game. read more

This course is kept in above average conditions. Fairways roll after a good drive and greens are packed, firm and roll true. Gorgeous views of the rolling hills, vineyards and green paradise nestled in each valley. First 11 holes were cart only. In comparison to Yocha: Pro: large tee time gaps, course conditions, views, excellent greens. Cons: range balls are not free, no beverage cart on course, if you order food you must place your order after the 7th and pick it up before 8th tee box back at the club house. No courtesy tees or ice chest in cart. Practice greens and range are so far from each other. read more

Wente used to be our favorite course but the management team has really let slip. For instance, this year (in Dec 2019, before COVID) we bought a membership for golf to play on Monday - Thursday but they wouldn't let you book Monday tee times for half the year unless you paid more money for a superior membership during COVID - not what was promised at the time of purchase. Even though they shut the course down for several weeks, they haven't been very flexible with the membership expiration especially considering that even though they were open, most folks didn't feel comfortable being out in public, yet. When you're at the course, staff is not friendly or outgoing. It has been extremely disappointing. This review is for 2 stars because the grounds and the course itself is beautiful. 0 stars for the management group. read more

There's so much to love about the Course at Wente - the views, the vineyards, the challenging holes, the consistent greens, the drink cart, the soft bunkers...so much & I hope to get back. So why the 3 stars? Never, ever, have I been bombarded by a golf cart yardage monitor with ads & messages like I have at Wente. So many messages that they ruined the experience. Killed the mood. Every hole, multiple times a hole - a message to repair divots, a message to get carts back by a certain time, a message not to use your cellphone while driving, message after message after message. Good God!!!!!!!!!! Enough with the messages!!!!! Once a hole, once every few holes perhaps but this was beyond annoying! Absolutely ruined the experience. Plus most messages required you to tap the back arrow to get it to disappear. Couldn't easily see yardage without tapping the screen to get rid of a message. The # of messages blew away the total # of messages from the last 10 rounds combined. Wente needs to fix this. I'd give them 4-5 stars if they did. read more

I asked if they gave a Military discount and the guy behind the counter looked at me like I was a piece of trash! Wow! He must really hate Americans... Beautiful day. Course is in great shape and customer service impeccable. A few drops of rain during the round but didn't warrant donning rain gear. Played Wente Vineyards today. The fairways were in very nice shape and so were sand traps. Great overall track and design. Challenging course. The reason I give 3 stars is because of the quality of the greens which was completely unacceptable for such a quality course. At $140 for a weekday green fee, I would expect MUCH better green quality. Muni-like greens on a course that good is a shame. For the sake of clarity, the greens had many burnt and/or fungus bare spots. I don't mean a few greens. I mean ALL of them. Fix the greens and I would have no issue rating this course a 4 1/2 - 5 star. read more

Mind you, that after the first shot, the waitress kept telling us we might need some water. What a joke. As I said, the golf is great but the food was ok, and the service was absolutely awful. Great golf course! I like to play here when I get a nice deal for me and my buds. Otherwise, despite the course being awesome, Wente is just overpriced for us normal folk (e.g. non-members of Ruby Hill, Castlewood, etc.) Yeah, they come here. If I was a CC member I'd still go to Wente once awhile. The course plays long, hard, and incredible. Conditions are always optimal at Wente, more so during the beginning summer month when I think the course is at its prime. The greens are fast, but not so fast that they'll roll off it. Actually, I think the greens are just easier for me to read than other courses. My eyes see good lines here. As far as the fairways and layouts goes, you can't ask for more. The length of the course from the tips makes this course an incredible experience. I highly suggest high handicaps and big drinkers to lay off the tips. There is no shame in playing whites when you just want to have fun. Hell, my buds are really good and we do it...no need to prove your manhood by being dumb and holding the group behind you up. Wente also gives you that country club feel when you pull up at the 18th hole and someone young lad cleans your clubs while you finish up. It's nice to have that service. The clubs will be all ready for the next round with no probs. Plus, it gives the lads a chance to earn a few bucks for the service. To you money hoarders it's customary...geez, even a buck will do. I hate seeing snobby looking golfers stiffing a young person like that. Try to catch a deal at Wente with golfnow.com or other golf online sites. Otherwise, your just paying too much. For a little more you can play Pasatiempo, Spanish Bay, or something. The course is great though. I especially love the Lombard Street feature (the turn, 9th to 10th hole). A lot of golfers hate it, but it's so outrages that you just gotta laugh. You gotta see it and experience it to know about it! read more

I have played at many of the golf courses in the Bay Area, and Wente is easily my favorite. I could compose an entire laundry list of things that Wente does perfectly, but for your sake, I'll keep it to only those things that are most important to me: 1. The pace of play is fantastic. I think due to a combination of its location (kind of far out in Livermore) and higher green fees, this golf course doesn't get frequented as much as other courses do. That is a bit of a shame, since I think everyone should partake in the great golfing experience that can be had here, but for purely selfish reasons, this benefits me because it means the course is emptier. We played a round on Saturday afternoon and finished in just under 4 hours, which is virtually unheard of at most other courses in the Bay Area. I've played here twice on Saturdays, and I've never had to wait at a tee box. 2. The views are absolutely stunning. The layout of the course is very well-designed. The holes run up and down through the hills, and in particular there is a climb after the Front 9 where you will drive up a "Lombard Street". When you get to the top and look back on the course below, it will take your breath away. The holes are all unique in their own way, and the way the course is intertwined throughout the vineyards and the hills means that there is no shortage of scenery to be observed. It came as no surprise to me when I learned that Wente has hosted PGA events before, because it's just a beautiful place to be playing golf. 3. The course conditions are immaculate. From the tee boxes, to the greens, to the fairways and rough...the course clearly receives a lot of tender loving care. The curator here deserves a raise. Oh, and the SAND. The bunkers have absolutely pristine, soft, white sand that honestly made me wonder if it was imported directly from Hawaii or the Caribbean or something. At times I had to remind myself that hitting into bunkers is actually a BAD thing. 4. The driving range. This deserves its own bullet point. Wente has an all natural grass driving range, with unlimited complimentary range balls, all stacked into perfect little pyramids at each hitting station. Sometimes it amazes me that Wente is a public course, because so many aspects of it have a private country club feel to it, with the driving range being one of the most notable examples. The driving range is located in its own secluded location partway up the hills, and because of how empty the course is in general, both times we've played here we have had the entire driving range to ourselves. That made for a serene, peaceful experience, which was perfect for getting mentally prepared for a round. 5. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Booking tee times is simple, the check-in process was fast, and the Starter at the opening hole was friendly and informative. Oh, and they clean your clubs for you while you are on the 18th green. Administratively, Wente runs like a well-oiled machine. 6. You must have a meal at The Grill after your round. Perfectly situated at the 18th, it allows you to have a post-game meal outdoors while overlooking the 18th green, and to cheer on those that are just finishing their rounds. There was a wide selection of food options, it all tasted delicious (especially the desserts!), and the service was great. It's really the perfect way to end an amazing round of golf. Wow, I didn't really intend to write that much, but I guess the fact that I will never run out of good things to say about Wente speaks to my high opinion of the course and the experiences I've had there. I will definitely be playing here as much as possible in the future. The rates are on the steeper side compared to most public courses, but EASILY worth it. And weekend twilight times can be had for $65, which is an absolute steal. So go play here!! read more

Wente is definitely no slouch. It is a daunting tasks. But the view the conditions are just AMAZE-BALLS My group got in on a golf book deal for $50 a person. I consider that a STEAL for the caliber of golf course your playing at. The staff is extremely friendly with bag boys on site helping you load up your gear. The elevation changes are extreme but the gem of this golf course are the greens. THESE GREENS are FAST. [echo voice] fast like a nascar nascar fast...[/echo voice] They are sometimes extremely hard to read. The marshals give you loads of tips. Beautiful course that is extremely tough especially when the wind picks up. views are stunning especially in the back nine. misses here can prove to be very difficult and can really test everyone's game. as anywhere other than the fairway will leave you in a tough recovery shot. course is well kept. greens roll very fast. staff is great and friendly. tips: *valet parking is available. self parking is also available. *there's a cart girl that comes by. *saw the Marshall a few times. Absolutely Beautiful! Second time playing here and again played like %^&*! haha. Yes, I golf. I should rephrase and say that I try to golf. I recently picked up this insanely frustrating hobby, but have slowly hacked my way up the ranks. By hacked, I mean still hacking every 1 in 3 shots, which is better than before believe it or not. And by ranks I mean amongst my friends where I still sit dead last as far as scores and experience goes. haha This course offers a thrilling experience from the scenery, the service, and obviously the course conditions. Playing from the Blues will give you a run for your money and every hold has challenging obstacles and hazards. On an already challenging course there are times when wind also becomes a factor. With the wind and slope combined it can end you. The course does a great job spacing out groups. Playing at other courses such as, summit point, where there are 3 - 4 groups lined up on the first tee is just ridiculous. You can take your time here and get through a round without bearing down on the group ahead or get chased down by the group behind. The Marshals here are also all very friendly and do a great job keeping the groups moving. &&&&&&&&&&&&&&& PRICE &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& $115/round with cart. Walking this course would add another level in the difficulty category. Luckily COSTCO has a deal for Wente. This allows us a more affordable and enjoyable round. ~$60/round with a cart. The hills are a light golden color burned out from the summer sun. Quite a few GREENS are slow and dray and a bit ugly when you get up close with sparse grass and patchiness. They have nice quality golf carts with GPS. Tons of hawks glide through the skies above. The ROUGH is thick and dense mostly. The FAIRWAYS are mostly green and not chewed up. They are a bit worn out near the rough in some areas. You can't go wrong with TaylorMade M6 rental clubs. Well, it's golf so of course you can wrong with or without dynamite clubs...but you know what I mean. On one hole I pull up to the edge of the cart path and in the gutter is a severed baby deer hoof with ankle. The wife and I have talked to friends about the fun and not-so-fun wildlife we've seen on courses. I once hit a ball under a shaded tree and when I got there a huge hawk was stomping on some gray mass and there was crunching and pulling going on. Needless to say, I left the .50 cent Top Flite behind. I've seen Bobcat trot out onto the course and I've seen numerous crawfish organs strewn all over a green. But the severed hoof had me seriously hoping it was done by a bobcat and not a mountain lion. Please be a bobcat... LOMBARD STREET going into the hills is a very cool addition since we're in the South Bay area. The layout is fun and nothing is boring. All in all, a nice course that is very much worth playing. read more
