This is as one of the best burgers I've ever had. It was delicious! It had a big fried green tomato and vinaigrette. The fries had great flavor and texture. The Roy Rogers is why I love stopping at the small town, locally owned establishment. This is a great place to eat, and the locals are very friendly. Someone from a company we work with in the area had been in town for months and become a regular here, so my 2nd visit was even better. Grab a Cold Smoke Scotch Ale on tap for an excellent Montana-local beer on tap. Other good beers on tap are available if you want to stray from there. On my 1st visit, someone recommended the tenderloin steak tips, so I decided to save the famous pizza for the 2nd visit. Good call - the steak tips were solid. Wish I could remember what else I ordered. On 2nd visit (with regular leading the way), we went with the cheeseburger pizza, which sounded kinda weird, yet... gotta try something new, soooo... we did! And it was awesome. So good - never had anything like it before. Got cheese curds on the side, which were also stellar. Dined in both times, enhancing the piping hot and fresh experience vs taking something back to the room. Not sure if dining with a regular got me a 5-star experience or if it's always that awesome, but I've thought about this bar several times since I went... so that merits a solid review. I knew what I was going to eat, so I ordered a beer and water. Waitress came back and I placed my order. I got a 12oz sirloin with mixed vegetables. I also got the soup of the day,clam chowder. I thought clam chowder in Montana, this might be risky. Haha. Got my beer then clam chowder.It turned out ok. Then I proceeded to wait ~40 minutes to get my dinner. I almost left. I would have paid for the beer and chowder. I could hear a lot of chatter out of the kitchen and not good chatter. The kitchen was backing up and food was delayed. The kitchen was out of order. I felt bad for the waitress cause she was running all over the place. It wasn't her fault. When I went there during the week, the food was served in 10-15 minutes tops. Friday it was 40 minutes. Service was good. I did notice and hear some complaints amongst other guests. I remained cool, even though it had been a long two weeks. The cafe is also in western wear store and there are vacation rentals on top of the cafe. The building is a completely renovated old hotel. There are two units. A 1BR and a 2BR. They are far better than any hotel room you will find with kitchens and the bigger one has a back porch. On top of all of this, my mother left her credit card at the cafe and LeAnn and Gene went above and beyond what anyone has ever done to track us down and get us the card back. We are deeply appreciative of their kindness and we can never repay them for what they did.
