I explained even though it's an emergency, he could come out around 8am as I didn't feel it warranted him to get there at 1am. Oscar, the very handsome head guy at Plumb Loco (great name, isn't it?) answered the phone on the first ring...on a SUNDAY! I was shocked! It was not an emergency but I had two kitchen sinks backed up with gunk. He said he had several jobs on Monday but that he would definitely call me Monday afternoon and come out. I figured, "Uh huh..." but was pleasantly surprised when he kept his word. He did not want to walk through our home as he felt he was too dirty, so he used the garage access. He was tidy and cleaned up after he was done. Oscar was very friendly and on time, professional and super nice. He not only took care of the two major back-ups, he told us how to prevent them from returning! He told us where to buy our own plumbers' snake, and how to put hot, hot, hot water in both sinks with 409 or Simple Green each month as a preventative measure. Although other plumbers get "accolades" for their "courtesy", Oscar and Plumb Loco are the real deal. We've dealt with two other clowns that were highly recommended by Yelp which has failed us hugely when it came to plumbing ... fortunately, Oscar was recommended by our local Kensington Web site in addition to Yelp and he exceeded all expectations. He was competent, professional, and on-time, and he didn't put his image before courtesy like other plumbing companies ... and every accolade of his is well-deserved. It's nice he doesn't demand cash when he's finished like one of the other guys. Anyway, Oscar helped diagnose a tricky problem and was very conservative in trying to avoid smashing into our plaster wall to replace a valve. He really didn't want to do that, but we were at our last straw with a rush of cold water and temperature problems in one of our showers. He tried the cartridge replacement which we wanted to try but didn't work; however, Oscar ultimately figured out the problem being our tankless water heater set to too high of a temperature. That was the fix and we avoided any plaster damage. What I also loved about Oscar was that he wasn't a grub like the other guys and he waited to bill us until after we were 100% sure that the problem was fixed. Then he even remembered to include the 10% Yelp discount without us asking again. I love how these supposed professionals come out and think we're not going to pay them or something? Like we're going to risk our house for it. Lame! Anyway, we couldn't recommend Oscar and Plumb Loco more highly. Believe me, these aren't a bunch of BS reviews on here for his services. My wife and I have been working with Oscar and Plumb Loco since finding them in the GSDBA guide in 2010. Oscar has spent a lot of time fixing various plumbing issues at our house: water lines, gas lines, replacing our water heater, etc., and is always willing to give us his expert advice if we have a general plumbing question. Two weeks ago, we called him out to perform annual maintenance on our tankless water heater. Since San Diego has especially hard water, we need to get our unit flushed annually to keep the water heater functioning normally. During the routine visit, Oscar noticed that the unit was leaking, which, of course, isn't normal. We were able to get the manufacturer to replace the leaking unit entirely, but now the new unit isn't functioning as expected. Over the past two weeks, Oscar has been to our home at least four times, working with us and Takagi technical support to test various components of the unit, tirelessly troubleshooting all possible issues and resolutions. All through this process, Oscar has been professional and - undoubtedly - our advocate. He even called last night at 7:30 to follow up with us and see how the unit was functioning. I had some issues with my older showers. One recently got stuck on and needed a new cartridge. The old cartridge seemed impossible to removed. Our other shower was facing similar issues and had started dripping water from the handle when turned off. Oscar and his team were able to come by two days later (perfect for my schedule). They completed three tasks (two older bath/showers and one toilet). in just a few hours. Very professional and nice. This review is WAY overdue! Oscar and his team literally saved Thanksgiving for me and my family last year. I smelled a gas leak in my house and SDGE shut off my gas, a week before I was going to host my first Thanksgiving dinner. Thank goodness I called Plumb Loco for help. Oscar was able to come up with a plan to get my gas turned back on and they went to work. They worked full days for 3 days in a row, basically redoing the gas lines in my 100+ year old house. They eliminated a lot of inefficient piping and installed a tankless water heater. Now my gas and water bills have significantly decreased.
