Gonna have to disagree with ya'll on this one. Cocky, DIScourteous, unprofessional. As someone who grew up in the business, he has a chip on his shoulder that he does the best work. He did a thorough job of trouble-shooting before he did any work, which I appreciated. But he used a guests towel to mop up water leaking under the toilet and cussed about it when I confronted him on the phone about it. No camera work, no snaking, just a lot of talk, water running, and a $75 bill for his thoughts and suggestion to find a company who would be willing to go up on my roof. Bad attitude and a fowl-mouth complainer. Not recommended. read more

Can I give 6 stars?? First, let me say I LOVE LOVE LOVE my ice maker! Although, there was a bit of a scare several days after Dave installed it. One night I started hearing a trickling sound...opened the freezer, opened the fridge and yes...a definite trickling sound. This is not good. I pulled off the front plastic grill at the base of the fridge, shoo'd all the dust mammoths (I admit it, these were MUCH more than bunnies) out of my way, and peered in with a flashlight. I could see a steady trickle of water flowing into the plastic reservoir underneath the fridge. (Who knew there was even a plastic reservoir down there!?!?) I quickly called Dave and left a message explaining what was happening. Of course, this was a weeknight at 7pm, so they were closed...but within 10 minutes he called me back, told me to shut off the water supply under the sink (duh!) and let me know he'd be over 1st thing in the morning. Next morning, he calls me up and says he's running early, and will be over shortly. Luckily, he lives close by so he zooms over...and whaddya know. The leaking has stopped! Even though I had turned the water back on in the morning to see if it was still occurring...no trickle, no gush, not even a drip. Figures. He pulled the fridge out anyway, and checked all the joints of the tubing to make sure there weren't any lose or cracked areas. And of course, he could find nothing wrong. Luckily, there was no charge for stopping by...and whatever he did (which really was nothing) seems to have worked because I haven't had a leak since! read more

Are you ready for an oxymoron? "Honest Plumber." This dude is straight out of the 50s. And I don't mean in some kind of hokey, weird way. He is a complete, straight shooter. I needed a whole house water system installed. I called another company first. This other company did a great job of scaring my wife, who wanted to pay their exhorbitant price. I told her that we needed to get a second opinion first. I saw Dave Shelton's Plumbing on Yelp, so I decided to call. Man, am I glad I did. Dave's price was SUBSTANTIALLY lower. Also, when he did the job, he followed his personal mantra, "I treat your job as if I am working on my house." Dave did some extra things without charging for them. Very, very cool. I was referred to them by a pleased customer and called and got a call back instantly. I had requested a service that he told me I honestly didn't need, and asked who had told me that I did! Then he referred me to another repairman for the second job (which I did need- a leaky washing machine). He took his time talking with me on the phone, asking questions, not just trying to rack up an appointment he could bill me for. That sort of honesty is hard to come by. Wow. I wish all service people were as honest and direct as Dave Shelton of Shelton Plumbing is. I called him about a stuck bathroom faucet, and instead of immediately coming out (and charging me a service call), he asked that I take a photo of the faucet and text it to him. He was able to tell me that the parts needed would be replaced for free by the manufacturer, and to call and have them send the new parts before he came over. Once the parts arrived, he showed up promptly and fixed what turned out to be a nasty mess inside the faucet parts. He only charged me for the service call, performed the work well, cleaned the space afterwards, and was extremely friendly. He's someone who takes his work seriously, comes from a place of honesty, and is now my go-to guy for plumbing from now on. read more

Seriously! Someone who knows what to do. My kitchen sink is classic "1928" so....Not so easy when it comes to fixing this thing. 2 other plumbers come in and try to fix this beast and..No dice, they are telling me that it will cost over $500 to replace. Dave was honest and upfront which I like. NO BS kinda guy. He ended up fixing this insane job with a some twist,jabs, and turns "it was stripped" and BAM! he fixes it which 2 other morons could not do. I thought my relatively new tankless water heater was going out. I had no hot water in my shower, but it was fine in my wife's bathroom and in our kitchen. Dave Shelton figured the problem out -- the lining in my hand held shower line was frayed which restricted the flow of water to a level that was too low to make the tankless water heater kick in. He replaced the line; problem solved! And I might add, for far less money than a new water heater. Shelton Plumbing has never done TV advertising, they just save their customers money. read more

We have worked with Shelton Plumbing for many years. They installed a tankless water heater. It was not easy. The gas meter was on the other side of the house and they had to crawl in a very tight area under the house to bring the line over. We now love our water heater. We were about to spend thousands of dollars on lining a waste pipe to the street. Dave Shelton used root killer and another product to clean off the calcium build up in the toilet. We have not had a problem with an overflowing toilet ever since. He saved us lots of money. Dave installed a kitchen faucet for us. I chose one and he said to get one with a satin finish to match the appliances and hardware. He really cares about our home. Shelton Plumbing's costs are very reasonable. Dave just completed a big job for us and his work was impeccable. After 7:00 PM we noticed our water heater was leaking. He picked up the phone after his posted business hours and rearranged his schedule so that he could squeeze us in first thing the next morning. He spent time investigating the problem and explained possible solutions. We decided to install a tankless water heater and are so happy with Dave's excellent work. Called Dave on the recommendation of a neighbor and he was able to come by the next day to look at a problem we were having with the kitchen faucet as well as one with the bathroom toilet. He was able to fix both on the spot. Pricing is about what you'd expect, so I can't say it was super cheap or too expensive, but I suppose you get what you pay for most of the time. Dave is the man! I had almost completed an installation of an under sink water filter, and asked for his help. He gave me some needed pointers, and was on his way. He knew I was close, and was going to be able to finish the job myself, so he didn't charge me. Have used a different local plumber for years. But, Dave often parks in front of my house to go to the post office. I have talked to him several times and wrote down his number "just in case". So, I get a small hole in my under sink pipe ...at 1:00am !! I called my original plumber the next AM, and he basically blew me off, that he was busy and could I call him back and leave a message. So, I called Dave. He returned my call within 10 minutes, and we made our appt for next AM. What an AWESOME plumber! Dave is the best in town. He is sweet, kind, meticulous and extremely knowledgeable. We called him on a holiday and he answered right away and said he was just finishing up with another client and would be over shortly. It wasn't but what seemed like a few minutes and there he was, knocking at our door! AND he didn't charge us some crazy holiday rate, just the normal rate he charges, which is extremely reasonable. I'm a bit nervous having workers come to the house without my husband home but with Dave I feel 100% comfortable and at ease with him. It is like having a friend over, but a really handy friend who drive a cool van with lots of awesome tools in it! Having Dave at our ready is such a great feeling, especially since we own a 70 year old home. I can't express the relief I feel knowing that he isn't going try to rip us off or suggest services or products we don't need. Dave was amazing on all the important points: responsive, prompt, professional, more than fair in pricing, and got the job done (the job being a clogged kitchen sink drain that he diagnosed very efficiently and snaked out very quickly). The only reason I didn't give him 5 stars was due to something he can fix (and if he does, I'll edit this to give him 5 stars). I'm Asian and don't wear shoes in the house. I don't expect people I hire who come into my house to fix things to take off their shoes, but I've hired other plumbers who bring disposable booties. Would save me a lot of time and trouble cleaning the kitchen floor after Dave had left if he had invested in some booties. A few days ago our water heater stopped working and we called Dave. He came the next day to take a look, found we needed a new heater, told us our options and costs, then installed a tankless water heater for us - all in the same day. He had to readjust his schedule for us and was, as always, very careful, creative in figuring out where to install the heater at our 1920's craftsman house, and impeccable in his work.
