    Chingri Malai Curry

We went last year and tried this restaurant and we have been wanting to go again. It was as good this year as it was last year. We started with 2 delicious gin cocktails with basil that were delicious. We then had Banana Chaat with pomegranate seeds. It was delicious. We ordered Naan Bread which was a little salty but still delicious. We ordered the pork axone which was crispy smoked pork belly, fermented soybean, green chili, lime. We also ordered the Chingri Malai Curry which was shrimp in a turmeric and Coconut milk gravy, ghee, toasted red chilies. Both were so tasty. We can not wait to go back.

Normally would not go to an establishment that isn't cooked by a native but surprisingly they did a great job. The banana chaat was delicious and perfect sweet and savory. The beef nahari was not my thing at all, beef was sort of tender but the sauce was too much cardamom or whatever taste like anise. the shrimp malai curry was good. Neither came with rice so added that. Shrimp fried rice for kids was just rice and some shrimp and no flavor. The naan garlic cheese naan was nice and the appam went well with shrimp but wouldn't do that again as it's just not my flavor. The tamarind soda was fantastic and brought me back to Guatemala. Hard to judge the place as the menu changes a lot so even if not the best experience it could change. It was also hot and stuffy inside towards back.

Went on my friend's birthday, it was very unique dinning experience, the menu was short and top favourites in indian culture ! Service was excellent too !

My goodness! Never been to India but the Nola native has brought India to the masses. His cuisine exudes high intelligence: knowledge of flavor and texture using common US ingredients. You, like in Ratatouille, are transported to the street stall of Mumbai, and eating like a local, are allowed to experience the warmth and hospitality of the Region in every bite taken on the Algiers side of the River. Memorable.

Not sure why I don't already have a review on this place. This place is a gem. A must try if you haven't before. One of my favorite restaurants in New Orleans. Delicious food that always comes out fresh and hot. Every dish I've ever had here has always been mind blowingly good. Different from any other Indian dishes I've had elsewhere. Service is always friendly and the space is bright and inviting.

I had brunch with a party of 6 here, and with advance notice, they were able to accommodate. Everything was delicious and this is what we had: * mango sodas, hot chai, tuktuk cocktail * banana chaat and fried bread stuffed with paneer * fried chicken (not pictured) and butter chicken * pork belly * shrimp * eggplant Perfectly balanced seasoning, delectable sauces, moist proteins, and relaxed atmosphere. Cross the damn bridge!

Excellent Indian food, at the intersection of gourmet and hole-in-the wall. The menu and wine list are short, photocopied together double-sided on 8 1/2" by 11" paper so it can and does change frequently. If there is AC, you might not notice, but that is OK because the food will have your attention. The service is friendly and attentive. Our waitress recognized us even though we are only in town a few times a year. The wine list is short, but varies from the usual offerings, so trust the staff's recommendations. Bottom line: cross the Mississippi and experience something special.

Located in New Orlean's second-oldest neighborhood far from the French Quarter is a small Indian restaurant on a block full of single-family homes. The chefs aren't Indian. After working in the food industry, the partners traveled through Indian, inspired by new-to-them flavors. Upon returning, they created a pop-up that now has a brick-and-mortar worth visiting. On a trip to New Orleans, my wife, seven-year-old daughter, mother-in-law, and I dined at Plume Algiers at 6 p.m. on a Tuesday evening in April. Here's our experience. 1) Food: Don't expect your usual Indian dishes like butter chicken or tikka masala. The menu is small, but that's because every dish is thoughtful and fresh. To feed the four of us, we got the fried rice with chicken for our daughter. We also got the banana chaat, chingri malai shrimp, cabbage moilee, raj kochari, green chutney, tamarind chutney, appam, two servings of naan, and milk cake. Literally, every dish was scrapped clean and every dish was a winner- truly. The banana chaat is very unique and the banana works with the coconut, yogurt, tamarind, and green chutney. The chingri malai shrimp was the perfect amount of spicy and the sauce went well with the naan and appam. 2) Service: It was attentive and kind. One of the owners took our orders and walked us through the menu. It turns out she grew up near where we live in Washington, D.C. 3) Space: It's small, but inviting. The walls are decorated with murals and the kitchen is open. Once done, go to the front to settle the bill. We found easy street parking right in front. 4) Price: For a feast that fed all four of us, our bill was $165.70, including a 20%+ tip. 5) Drinks: We ordered one of each of their cocktails. They were strong!

I have eaten at this place a couple times now and can attest it being 5 stars every single time. The menu changes but the flavor and satisfaction never disappoints. I actually tell everyone about this restaurant and have brought several people there who all have brought other people back. The owners work the place and are insanely passionate about the food experience for their customers. This is a unique experience that you will not regret. The ambiance is welcoming, relaxed, and comfortable. I can't say enough good about this place. I look up reviews to help me decide on both where to eat and what to eat and I am a person who usually needs to already pick out my meal before I get somewhere but i can't do that with Plume yet it doesn't matter because everything they make is incredible. They are honest about their foods and can help you choose your items based off your taste. They are extremely helpful. Please just try it and enjoy!! And get the fermented coconut pancake thing, sooo good.

Really fantastic, fresh, creative approach to Indian. Run by an adorable couple who visited India and learned to cook it. Generous portions. Delicious naan and appetizers. Beef dish very savory and rich. Braised curry cabbage with coconut and peanuts. Really ingenious preparation. For summer they plan to just have a brunch menu. They have picnic tables outside. Lots of take out orders. Alcohol served. Don't worry about the drive or the neighborhood. It's fine and well worth it!

So delicious, always as good to look at as to eat. There's an unusual variety of dishes that will hit every palate. Nothing so outrageous that it can't be enjoyed by the whole table.

Plume Algiers is definitely worthy of a trip to Algiers. The freshness and tastiness is just as good now as the first time I ate there.

Raj Kachori, Naan, Shrimp Kaathi Roll, & Mulai Kattiya Taniyam! Everything was absolutely AMAZING. (Instagram: @diningwithkels)

As someone of Indian heritage who has eaten at Indian restaurants across the country and abroad, I do not offer five stars lightly. The Tandoori Chicken Tikka is the best I have ever had -- anywhere, full stop. The char is perfect, the marinade deeply fragrant, and the chicken impossibly tender. This dish alone is worth crossing the city for. The Chicken Biryani was layered and fragrant, with each component perfectly spiced yet cohesive. The Malai Gosht was rich and silky -- a quietly elegant dish that lingers on the palate. The Palak Paneer was vibrant and fresh, nothing like the heavy renditions found elsewhere. The Bullet Naan -- marketed as "eat at your own risk" -- delivered on its promise. Bold, building heat that commanded attention, but never reckless. Paired with a curry, it was outstanding. The Falooda dessert was a perfect finish: cooling, fragrant, and beautifully presented. The wine list was surprisingly decent for an Indian Restaurant. We enjoyed the Brunello! And the service -- led by Manager Aman -- was over the top in the best possible way. Warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in every guest's experience. The hospitality matched the kitchen's excellence at every turn. LuFu Nola is a must-visit. Easily the best Indian food in New Orleans.
