The monitor lets you know about how much time you have before you're seen. Wish more places had this.

Great place. While it isn't great to have a sick child, it's great that a place like this exists for when the time calls for it - especially when the former options would be a regular Urgent Care or an ER. We needed to take our son here to checked out (which thankfully turned out to be nothing) and although I passed by here several times, I wasn't sure how this place was. First off, the place is clean and very welcoming for kids. There is an animal/jungle theme present around the entire place and in the rooms. There are TVs on both ends of the large and spacious waiting area with cartoons on. There is another monitor with your child's first name and last initial indicating how much longer he'd be seen. I wish more places had that simple innovation. We were the only ones there, so there wasn't too much of a wait time. The room was clean and our son wasn't nervous. The doctor and nurse were both welcoming and knowledgeable. We got out diagnosis fast enough and were on our way out. The entire process lasted less than an hour. The parking lot isn't great (not this place's fault), so be careful navigating around clueless drivers going. This place is book-ended by a Nathans and a sizable CVS along with a few other businesses and is connected to the larger Kohl's parking lot. You can enter either from Central Avenue or Crisfield Street. Overall a pleasant experience in light of having a sick child. I wish there was a place like this when I was a child, since the options weren't nearly half as good as this place. Recommended.

Beautiful posters on the walls a huge hit with the kids

This has got to be the fastest doctor visit in the history of my kids emergency visits. I usually take the kids to Lawrence hospital and would be waiting around for hours and hours just to be seen by the staff before having to wait a few more hours to finally be seen by a doctor. This time was very different, my daughter thought it was a good idea to put a crayon in her ear granted it was a beautiful shade of orange but none the less the crayon broke and a piece became lodged in her ear. Once we got there it was a matter of 5minutes getting all the paper work done meaning the lady behind the desk asked for photo id and the insurance card and that was it. The staff was very attentive and friendly and you could see that they wanted to make my daughter as comfortable as possible a few minutes in the waiting room and we were on our way to the back to see the doctor. In all the visit lasted about 45 minutes from start to finish and this i must say was a relief. I am proud to say that this will be the new place for all of the kids emergencies.

Once inside we were treated so kindly by all the staff, had a strep test confirmed as positive and actually got our first dose while in the office.

HOWEVER THAT SAID - I love Dr. Heather McGowan. She is the only reason why I would wait (much as it kills me). Because she doesn't rush you, and she listens. We share the same philosophy which is about allowing your body to heal and not be too alarmist about life. She is open to new ideas and very supportive. She doesn't frown or make judgments and make you feel bad about your choices. In fact, she works with you as much as you can. She is very respectful and I really love taht about her. I have two kids and she is my fourth pediatrician and I'm glad I found her. Everyone else before were either dismissive, holier than thou or made you feel bad if you asked too many questions. UPDATE Since I wrote this review I have brought my daughters in to see Dr. Cinnante as well. She is wonderful and extremely caring, taking the time to listen to you and work with you. She even follows up with you on issues pro-actively which is unheard of today. She makes me and my children feel like human beings, rather than a record in their customer database. I love the fact that she is a D.O.

When I was still thinking about this the next day, I called the office to let them know I found this offensive. The staff doctor I spoke to said that staff is "allowed to believe in God" and that I was making an issue where there isn't one. I disagree with that assessment but do agree that I am free to take my children to a pediatric practice where religion is left out of the equation.

Let's just start off with the receptionist (specifically the one who sits directly in front). This lady is rude, barely can understand her and the $5 every time I need paperwork done is funny and sad at the same time. But let's get to the doctor or PA my daughter saw (2nd time there). Let me give you a bit of a background with my daughter and doctors. She was born with Bilateral Hip Dysplasia, so lots of doctor visits, X-rays and sonograms from the moment she was born. She also developed a bad toe infections that required 2 biopsy's at the age of 2, again a lot of doctor visits, she also banged her head on the floor face first and bit a small hole through her lower lip which required surgery, and finally add in prior doctor visits for shots, physicals etc. So my daughter DOES NOT LIKE going to the doctor's office, she loses her mind once she knows the setting she's in, especially when she see the Doctor, MA or PA. At this physical appointment, this Doctor or PA that saw my daughter asked developmental questions about my daughter while my daughter tried to escape. I answered everything honestly, yet it's like she didn't believe me. She was more focused on how my daughter was acting (again she hates doctors, she has PTSD), and concerned my daughter was exhibiting Autistic Traits. She asked if my daughter spoke (she does, she's just not where she needs to be), I was trying to get my daughter to say her colors (which she knows) and said person "NO, can she say it herself?!" She can, sometimes you just have to get the ball rolling with her and she'll start pointing out all the different colors. The energy this doctor was giving dismissive and she already made up her mind my daughter might be Autistic and was focusing on that, wanting her to be evaluated for a bunch of things. Let's not talk about the HIPPA violation when she came into the waiting area where I was with my daughter and people were around, and she brought up my son's Autism in front of other patients. Which she was unaware of when we were in the room, so this means after we left, she checked her chart and then his and realized he was, which is why she approached me in the waiting room. Again fixated that she believed my daughter was autistic because she was screaming her life away in the room (AGAIN she had PTSD with doctors and if she would have asked why she was acting that way, she'd understand, but she didn't care). Now here's the kicker, we got her evaluated, and guess what? NOT AUTISTIC! She passed her educational evaluation with flying colors, and the evaluator was very impressed that at the turning age of 3 she potty trained herself in 2 weeks, and holds her urine through the night and gets up in the middle of the night to use it, if needed. Just because one child is autistic, it does not mean the other is, and the way she was trying to push that narrative is crazy. Now the last thing I'd sad is my daughter's iron levels came back extremely low, heavily low, and was told to get blood work done ASAP. We did that same day, this was over 6-8 weeks ago, and have yet to receive a phone call for the results or a game plan. Now one would say I could call, but one would also think with levels as low as hers, there would be som urgency from their end. Luckily we dealt with this issue with my son, and got his numbers back up quickly, so we know what needs to be done. Safe to say, we'll be changing pediatricians, only took 3 visits.

We've had plenty of first time parent concerns and he's tackled them all super timely and with a way of explaining things that calms us and gives us more confidence every time. And we were amazed with Katie, the Lactation Consultant. she has decades of experience, she CHANGED our world!! we brought in our 5 day old baby and she completely turned me around with her knowledge base. I brought him in with me and nursed him with her help so that she could observe. She reframed so much of what the hospital told me generically and tailored it to me and our son based on how and what she saw. and she was spot on! he was happier, less frustrated and trusted me to read his cues correctly and get what he needed. it was an instant fix, I can't get enough of her!! She makes herself available by phone too if tou can't make it to her in person. She and Dr. Stephen are in this with you every step, honestly we couldn't have asked for more caring human beings to help guide us.
