It can be quite busy, so be prepared for a wait; if you have to wait I recommend waiting on the porch where there are chairs and benches for you to sit. The servers are quite young, but they know the menu, and serve with a smile. I got a fried shrimp poboy and crawfish stingers. Both of these were delicious, if not a bit salty for my tastes. We would come back to this place to try the crawfish. I really wanted crawfish but they weren't boiling this early. Oh well... Atmosphere = 4. We got there at a decent time and were seated immediately. Big large dining area. Service - kind of slow but they did have 3-4 really large groups. There was a lady peering at me, my wife, and our two kids (3 and 9) impatiently so that they could take our table and move it join it with two other tables. I only know this because I heard the waitress tell the lady, "we are waiting for this table here to finish so y'all can have that table as well." This made us feel rushed and watched the entire time there. Order was taken at 4:48pm Appetizers came out at 5:01pm. Entrees were ordered with the appetizers. Entrees came out at 5:32pm. The entrees we ordered were the crawfish Etoufee, the fish plate for the kids, and a shrimp po-boy. By no means does any of that stuff take 40+ minutes to prepare. I had to go to the bar to get cutlery. I had to remind my waiter twice to get the beer I ordered. Service = 3 Food = 3.5 The shrimp and fish had a great flavorful breading. The oysters were small (market issue) but did not seem fresh. Good thing they were charred. I say 3.5 but will give a 4 because you can't give half star increments. Spent over $100 for the meal and when it's over $100 it shouldn't be a 3.5. I would come back again as the place deserves another shot. read more

Let's just say ... I have never had such delicious hush puppies in my life!! They were reminiscent of a toasty, buttery, honey glazed cornbread muffin, BUT they are in a small bite size balls of deliciousness! My catfish was fresh and crispy with a hint of spices! Well, there was some good, some not so good elements to my visit to "Buckets". On my visit, it was not "the rush hour" so it was not crowded. The atmosphere was cool and laid back. Ample parking was available. On the menu, the focus seemed to be locally available seafood entrees, po-boys, etc., but there were also some choices that younger children may prefer. I'm not a big appetizer person, but on this occasion, I was hungry for some "hush puppies". Big disappointment. It seemed as though the waitress brought me some that had been sitting around for a while. They weren't hot and they were too greasy my taste. They were a little bland. I prefer my "hush puppies" with a little more of a kick. My entrée was better. I had some catfish. Portions of fish and fries were generous. I had enough leftover to take some home. The fish was good. The entrée also comes with a salad bar trip. I was disappointed that only coleslaw was available as a salad choice. If you like coleslaw, maybe that could work for you. One thing I really liked on the coleslaw bar was that they had some nice size dill pickles, and purple onions. I think those really taste great on top of catfish. Service could have been a little better. The waitress was quick with the check (although we had not completed the meal) and didn't come back for drink service, etc. Part of the eating out experience is social for some. Oh my goodness, I cannot believe we found a decent let alone REALLY GOOD seafood place in Pineville! Everything was very good by real Cajun standards. We thought the wait would be awful because outside was overrun, but we put our name down and only waited five minutes. Our server was very sweet and attentive. Not bad. Really liked the ettouffee as it tastes like they used boiled crawfish in it. The hush puppies are awesome. The charbroiled oysters were too salty and too much cheese which was crispy. The stingers were decent just wish it had whole crawfish in it. Tried the grilled duck, that was a mistake, tasted like liver and mushy. They were nice enough to change it out. Got the tuna steak which was good also a tad salty but way better than the duck and cooked right. The pulled potatoes are good. Slaw is just slaw to me. Fried fish and shrimp were nicely fried. Visiting Camp Beauregard on military orders with battles and we decided to go out for some seafood. Little did I know this place right off post had this succulent dish. I ordered the 'Seafood Monica' which consisted of pasta, jumbo shrimp and crawfish topped with sauce. The shrimp and crawfish tasted fresh along with the noodles. For those around the are and looking for a seafood pasta platter, this is definitely one to add to your list. Large enough to feed two people (possibly 3). First time eating here! We loved it! It's a great seafood place off the beaten path. There's a bar on one end, but it was pretty calm and had a very family friendly atmosphere. We ordered a seafood platter, shrimp and grits, and crab legs(first night they served them). Our server made suggestions and answered questions-she was great!! Everything was huge portions, delivered hot and fresh very quickly! The shrimp and grits was some of the best I've had! If it's on the menu, I'm ordering it. Fresh seafood with a casual atmosphere are the a hallmarks of this seafood restaurant. We were greeted, seated and order within 10 minutes which was awesome as we were both hungry! We had an order of crawfish stingers which are a deep fried ball of crawfish tails and creamy cheesy grits and come 6 to an order and are delicious but would be amazing if there were was sauce that help cut the richness of this appetizer. I had the fried shrimp po boy with fries as my side and each entree or sandwich comes with the "slaw" bar which was a small salad bar with fresh creamy coke slaw as well shredded coleslaw mix, coleslaw dressing, pickle spears, tartar sauce, cocktail sauce and sliced purple onions. This was an odd assortment but the coleslaw was really good. The fried shrimp were nice sized, fresh and well cooked and overall a good sandwich, the pasta which came with no side other than a bread round was full of fresh shrimp and crawfish tails but was lacking some of richness and flavor I would have expected.
