Being honest - the flavor of most of the items was good at first, but I detected the texture of being microwaved. The most concerning part, however, was that I had tummy issues for 2 days after eating there. And, I confirmed it was the food when I ate the leftovers and got attacked by the same painful, horrible cramps. That's about all I feel needs to be said. This place has some good food! The pork has was massive and had a good flavor. The char siu had just enough sweetness but wasn't overly sweet. The roast pork was crispy and just salty enough to keep the pork succulent when you bite into it. Our review on Po Sing Kitchen. This is at the mililani parkway shopping center. This is an icon and a landmark in mililani Town. It's been there for over 30 plus years and it's specialties are Chinese roast pork and char Siu. He used to make char Siu manapua. It was delicious but they stopped making it. I like their meat plate and their pork hash and they're Chinese roast pork and char Siu. They always give you fast and friendly service. And their prices are reasonable that's why we keep on coming back and there's usually a line in front of the store. This is a takeout only delicatessen. So you order your food and you take it home. Stopped by here after seeing many of my Yelp friends checking in since I was in the area. Had a bit of trouble finding this place & had to ask a kind woman waiting outside of Safeway. It is located closer to Subway. I had many errands to run so only purchased roast pork today. I was sad that there was only a small piece of pork hanging in the window after the gentleman in front of me bought most of it. Not to fret, the counter person disappeared to bring out more. I wanted to make a knock off lechon kawali for an easy dinner as I had some very juicy vine ripened tomatoes and sweet onions. I generally do not eat roast pork because it is very fatty, but saw the pieces were very meaty. Dinner came out great served with some French Onion Soup. Cringe worthy, but I enjoyed my pieces of defatted pork with some balsamic vinegar since I didn't have any of the traditional Filipino vinegar. Btw, Po Sing does not sell any manapua or steamed buns. Although there was only a rubber duck hanging, the gentleman said he did have roast duck in the back. I've seen this place many times whenever I went to Safeway, but never tried it until now. Due to covid, they only serve one customer at a time, so be prepared to stand in a line. It's cash only, so make sure you have some with you before you go. I ordered a 1/2 lb of cha siu and beef chow funn dry. Thanks to other yelpers, I learned to ask for the leaner parts of the cha siu if you don't want fatty pieces. I was pretty satisfied with their cha siu and wouldn't mind getting it again! Their beef chow funn was okay. It wasn't terrible, but wasn't the best I've ever had. Their noodle thickness was very inconsistent. Family-owned and operated, Po Sing Kitchen opened in Mililani in the mid-1980s; it changed ownership in 2015, but continues to be a family-run operation. While they offer various Chinese dishes, it appears that everyone gets their char siu, roast pork and siu mai, and now I know why. We hardly venture out to Mililani, as we live in East Honolulu. While having to go to Wahiawa on our annual shopping visit to Duke's Clothing, we made it a point to stop at Po Sing Kitchen for the first time. I have recently had cravings for their char siu, roast pork, and siu mai due to the stunning photos of these items posted by Yelpers Judy C., Gail U., Arynn I., Ramfis B. and Kevin C. Their photos showed delicious-looking char siu slices with charred ends with a luscious light sauce poured over them, roast pork with a crispy skin and a perfect meat-to-fat ration, and pretty good sized siu mai "balls" wrapped with translucent pi. They rank up there with the best and even better than some of the places in Chinatown! Yup, their photos are legit and are as good as they taste! We loved all three items: the char siu was so tender, soft, and flavorful, and the charred ends enhanced its flavor! We couldn't believe the roast pork skin stayed crispy even overnight in the refrigerator, and it was so tasty, juicy, and tender! The siu mai is made a little differently from other dim sum places, as it is completely wrapped and sealed in pi (no pork exposed); it was delicious, tender, and freshly made. We scored on these three items and wished we could have tried their other dishes, which will have to wait for another visit. Po Sing also has steamed char siu bao, crispy gau gee, fried spring rolls, roast duck, and Icee. They also have plate lunches of one choice or two choices of entrée + starch (fried rice, chow fun, or chow mein). They have various ready-made entrees to choose from: mapo tofu, pork bitter melon, beef broccoli, sweet sour pork, orange chicken, pork eggplant, pot roast pork, etc. You can also order from their menu: minute chicken, beef or pork with sweet sour cabbage, Mongolian beef, egg fu young, honey walnut shrimp, salt pepper shrimp, Canton shrimp, egg flower soup, won ton soup, etc. They also have party trays available. Po Sing is a tiny place between Subway and Supercuts in the Mililani Marketplace, which is anchored by Longs Drugs and Safeway. Po Sing is take-out only, and with COVID, only one person (mandatory face mask) is allowed inside due to social distancing. As a result, a line forms outside the store; however, it moves quickly, as most people know exactly what they want. As tiny as this place is, it has a large clear window with slabs of fresh roast pork and roast duck (duck was sold out when we were there at mid-morning) hanging from large metal hooks, and bright red chunks of juicy char siu with charred ends in pans on the counter. If you're just passing by and seeing this, it stops you in your tracks, as you want to savor these delicacies! Great marketing on their part! The interior rectangular space allows for the display of ready-made entrees and the roasted meats. With COVID, there are clear plastic sheeting from ceiling to the counters that acts as a barrier to the food. At least you can see through the clear plastic. There are only two family staff employees: the expert meat cutter and the nice lady who takes your order and takes your payment. Both were friendly and efficient, as they are aware that the sooner you leave, they can tend to the next person in the long line. As it is a popular place and the only place for roasted Chinese meats in the area, they do sell out quickly. If you know what you want, order ahead, and they will hold it for you for pick-up later. Open Wed. to Mon. form 9:30a to 6:30p; they may close earlier if they sell out. Cash only. Lots of free available parking in this shopping complex. Po Sing provides a great service to the Mililani community, as there is no need to drive to Chinatown to get these roasted delicacies. Too far for us to drive to Mililani on a regular basis to get these, so these will be a special treat when we happen to be in the area (wish there was something similar in East Honolulu). I think this little place has one of the best tasting char siu! It is well marinated, sweet, and full of flavor. I especially like the burnt ends (yeah - I guess I'm weird in some ways) ... but for whatever reason it's my favorite part! Burnt, sweet, the sauce completely soaked through... idk - I guess it is something that people either like it or don't! Even the roast pork - it is really good! Crispy skin and full of flavor! So you just walk up, order it by the pound and they can chop it up for you on that old wooden chopping block! We used to frequent Howzit's sports bar which became Kainoa's sports pub over 25 plus years ago for their weekly dart tournaments. One day a friend brought a plate lunch full of roast pork to share with our table. It was the most juiciest, crispy and the most delicious mouth full of oily yummy goodness! Of course we asked Danny D where he had purchased it from and he told us Po Sing. Since then we became one of their many loyal customers. Po sing became our number one choice when needing a dish to bring to a pot luck and their roast pork was always a hit. In more recently years the quality of the food that we had come to love had decreased significantly. This resulted in the decrease of our frequent returns. After some time passed since our previous visit of unsatisfactory meals, we would return in hopes that the old Po Sing food that we grew to love had improved. It didn't. We shockingly revisited them an approximate 10 more times over the past couple years with the same hope. It just got worse. Yesterday I really wanted some fried rice and roast pork for my birthday lunch. I walked in and asked the lady if I could order two freshly made number 3 containers of fried rice. She replied as she pointed in front of her at the already made fried rice that she would give me from that. I told her I'd like a fresh batch please because I can see that it's dry already and that the top is hard from being over heated. She shockingly gave me attitude and walked away behind the curtain. We asked her one more time if she was going to make it and she gave us a cocky response in Chinese that sounded like it could have been a nasty word. We were in shock!!! The nice man that was chopping up our roast pork was watching us and I looked at him and gave him a stare of disbelief. He returned a friendly apologetic glance. Then after boxing our roast pork, he asked if we would like him to scrap off the top layer of the fried rice and give us the underneath part that isn't crispy and dry. I didn't want it but we ended up settling for one number 3 container instead of the two that we originally wanted. That man has always been sweet to us and very welcoming and undeserving of this bad review. We told him thank you and walked towards the door. I turned around to look at him one last time and he seen my look of disappointment. He showed sincere kindness in his eyes as he watched us walk backwards out the door. I think he knew that I would never return. We went home and ate the worse fried rice of my life. I even sprinkled it with water and wet a paper towel to try and revive it in the microwave. It didn't work. That's how dry it was. Just awful!!! What's sad is that we probably would have came back one day again if it was just the food that was unsatisfactory but when it's the service that is of concern as well, that is personal and one cannot undo the memory of being treated like we we're NOT a valued customer as that lady so easily did to us like we meant nothing. Worse birthday lunch of my life. Roast pork was really bad too. Nothing like it was when Danny first introduced us to it years ago. It's a small little takeout place, that literally just has a small hallway to order your food and pay. During COVID, they only allow one customer at a time and have lots of plastic sheeting/curtains. I was a little hesitant at first but super happy I gave it a try. The roasted meat plate comes with both their roast pork and char sui. I get it with their fried rice. Keep in the mind the portions are generous! Definitely can be shared if you're not a big eater. Also, make sure you ask for mustard since you'll definitely want to dip your roast pork in that! After seeing all of Ramfis B.'s Po Sing food post on social media, I had to, give this place a try and it has been my most favorite place for roast pork and char siu even if it means I have to drive out further. While in line, during one of my visits and chatting with another customer she was surprised that I drive all the way out to Mililani for roasted meats when I can go to Chinatown, true but ever since I tried the roast pork and char siu, I fell in love! If I make any plans for Wahiawa or Mililani I have to make sure that I add Po Sing to my visit. I usually just get roast pork and char siu during all my visits, Only during one of my visits I tried the 2 item lunch plate and ordered the minute chicken chow fun plate. The food was really tasty as well. What I noticed is that, I usually make a stop in late afternoon, once t they don't replenish the hot foods. Next time I will make plans to make it earlier so I can pick up the hot food items along with the roasted meats. Very important, CASH only, I wish they take credit cards. Service is ok, I feel it could be better. The store is really small, so only one customer at a time during this Covid19 Pandemic. There are clear plastic covering the front so kind of hard to see the hot food selection. My friend always orders lemon chicken platter from here but it looks like you have to pre-order it. The chicken is always nicely chopped up to bite size pieces and the lemon sauce is separate so that it's not soggy. Very nice. But I can never find this item on their lunch plate order so that is junk. Which is what I had intended to do but I did not the choices that were given. There were only three choices and I did not care for any of them. So I got the roast meat plate. You get your choice of chow mein or fried rice and a nice serving of both char siu pork and roast pork. The guy chops up the meat right before he dumps it on your plate. So good and nicely fresh! This place is in a strip mall with Safeway and Longs Drugs. It's a narrow space so not many people can be there at any time. And yes, the plastic remains on their menus.
