Update 12-29-2 Always friendly and efficient at the front counter. Was asked if we were seniors. And was given at 10% discount. The discount applies to dine in only. Shared the Fish and Chips . This is one of my favorite dishes from Mililani Restaurant. Also picked up Jello Cheese Cake and 7- layer Jello for dessert. Aways delicious. Enjoy

Big portions! For a good reasonable price. Always my go to take out place for lazy night dinners and catering.

After all these years about hearing how good Mililani Restaurant was, we decided to drive from Waipahu to come here. I remember coming her back in the early to mid 1990s once but never again as I never lived on that side of the island. I never knew the parking lot stalls were so close to each other with limited space to maneuver...likely they had restriped to make more stalls but at the expense of maneuvering (especially if you have a mid size truck/vehicle or larger). This restaurant is located nearby The Shack and AutoZone stores, so this is your landmark as to where they are located. Inside as i entered, i noticed how clean it looked but was in shock at the wide menu board above and back of the cashier. It was so much to see, that even the person in front of us was saying we could go ahead of him as he was still undecided. We laughed when we told him we are too, don't worry! For several moments, we three (ha ha) were standing within inches of each other just pondering what to purchase for today! We came here after having driven all the way to try Ted's Bakery in Haleiwa for the first time arriving there about 10:20am only to see the bakery dark inside. A vehicle accident had damaged several electrical poles causing no electricity in that area, so we aborted and had to seek an alternative. We both said we 'had to' try Mililani Restaurant, as we have heard over the years about its famous fried noodles! Decided on the Combo Trio (2) @$16.49 each plus the Fried Noodles @ $12.99 plates. Used my card, and saw no additional surcharge, even though the cashier asks before receiving payment if it will be by cash or card. Once I hear this line, usually it is because there would be a surcharge assessed, but i did not see any signage that would be the case anyway. So just a false alarm on my part. About 7-8 minutes later, our three plates were already and placed into a box for easy handling. I was caught off guard as the order was quickly done and ready, sparking my thoughts that some were pre-cooked and would be done upon ordering those items. Got home and see they use the really easily compostable plate lunch boxes which have its good and bad points... luckily, no soak through when reaching our place to eat (even 5 hours later as I write this review). Let's start with the highly regarded, Fried Saimin... to me, it is a disappointment right off the bat! Fried saimin noodles, sliced egg omelets and 'mysterious' meat... Yes, it is NEITHER luncheon meat or SPAM, as the sliced pieces have the bite/texture of ham but there is NO taste.. none, nada... i ate several pieces by itself to know what it tasted like... Also no taste of dashi mixed into the noodles--- cannot even compete I feel against others with better tasting fried noodles. What's the hype about their fried noodles anyway after having tasting them? Their version of Teri-Beef? the best thing i must say is that the meats were soft and not chewy... this is no local teriyaki style flavor with shoyu, ginger, garlic and sugar... *definitely NOT*. It is rib eye with sauce poured on top of it (you know, like the bottled Yoshida's Teriyaki Sauce?). More mainland in flavor/interpretation versus the tasty local style teri-beef flavors. It is disappointing, but not to the extreme extent of the Fried Saimin Noodles! Mochiko chicken (pan fried, not deep fried) with sauce on top (not local style, but i saw this back in California at an L&L there near Santa Clara). It almost reached being slightly dry but was removed in time. As for the Fish tempura ... this one stood head and shoulders way above the three in texture and flavor... I like it so much that I would buy their Bill's Fish and Chips as my next plate lunch if I ever go back. It comes with a small like 3/4-ounce container for their tartar sauce... which is flavorful but some may want more tartar sauce than what is provided on that one large piece of fish. The macaroni salad, with its grated carrots and nothing else.. this too was a disappointment as there was no flavor I could taste, confirmed by my friend who ate the same lunch. It just tastes like Best Foods mayo with boiled macaroni and nothing else... it should have some diced or finely chopped onions or the onion sauce mixed in to add depth... Guess as they don't want to provide much, it comes in a 1.5-to-2-ounce plastic container with cap (that usually dressings for salads would be placed). Bland is the word i must say.... As were there about 11:20am today, Thursday, the final thing i want to add is that the rice had parts that were slightly wet/sticky and not fully cooked...just be aware... maybe they added too much water into the rice cooker, or turned off the rice cooker before it was completely finished and resting to fully cook. A overall 2.5 star review, but as there are no 1/2 stars, i will be nice and give it a 3 star rating. I would not go out of my way to eat here... but perhaps 'just for' the high rated fish tempura!

I've been to parties where the hosts have catered from Mililani Restaurant and I have come here for plate lunches when around the area. Mililani Restaurant has been around for over 40 years and family run. Their noodles are made fresh daily and plate lunches are packed with choke food. My usual to gos are smoked meat with fried saimin and Portuguese sausage fried rice..... so ono! Mililani Restaurant gets five stars for ono kine grind plates lunches that are locally owned and family run.

Always good food when we're here. After driving around doing errands, ended up here for some yummy food. Service is always good and the food always on point.

Actual rating is 4 1/2 stars. We ordered two plates - Beef Tomato & Lemon Chicken. Both had a lot of food, so that's a plus. The Beef Tomato plate is a definite 10/10 & a highly recommend. It's a little on the sweet side w/bell peppers & tomato sauce style rather than teriyaki. You'll want to soak up the rice with their sauce; it's that good. As for the Lemon Chicken, I'd rate it a 8/10; would have been a 9 if they would have soaked the chicken with more lemon sauce. It was only half soaked. Why would they do that? The lemon sauce makes the Lemon Chicken. Anyways good food, they give a lot as the plate is heavy & lots of parking near Foodland in Mililani.

Fish & chips with fried saimin $20.24 - ordered extra tartar sauce but they forgot all tartar sauce

Service is always good. Restaurant is always nice and clean. Food is always tasty. But it just wasnt the same experience as before. Few issues today, unfortunately: One issue today was with online ordering. It's easy and convenient, but after you select something, it takes you back to the top of the long menu, so scrolling takes a long time. If you are comparing items or dont know what you want, online ordering takes a really long time because of this issue. Another issue today was that I ordered extra tartar sauce with my fish & chips but I received no tartar sauce at all! Not even the free one (or does it come with 2 free, I cant recall) so now I have to eat dry fish because I ordered it with the fried saimin, which is dry too. (I ordered take out so cant just ask for it) $20.24 but on the plus side, the fish does have salt seasoning and I ordered a plate that came with Mac salad so the fish is good with the Mac salad. First time trying the tofu eggplant plate. Good flavoe but I think portion could be just a little larger for $15.49. In my pic it looks big, but in person it's not much. Mac salad is yum. Also first time ordering shoyu chicken $17.49. Expected local style shoyu chicken so was rather disappointed. Ordered the side order because we didnt need the rice. Description said half chicken. Didn't think much of that, but now understand why (online picture wasnt super clear but now that i look at it in hindsight, i understand) - it's a half roast chicken (kind of dry like the chinese kind) with a sweet glaze/gravy on top (definitely not enough). Not the shoyu chicken thighs soaking in gravy that you can eat with rice. Shucks but the flavor is tasty. Also wish you can order side of meat, like you can when you order fried saimin plates -- you can add teri beef for $4. Wish they had that option when you order other plates. Kind of like making your own combo. Because I ordered the fish & chips with fried saimin instead of fries, it would've been nice to have an option to add meat to it. Only garnish was cabbage (doesnt even have ham).

It's been years since I've been here, and it never disappoints. I always order the Hawaiian chop steak--it comes straight off the stove, piping hot, and is incredibly tasty and satisfying. The portion is generous enough to easily serve three people. Their fried noodles, which they're most famous for, are a must-order. My son tried one of their newer items, the Wagyu burger, and really enjoyed it. Drinks are refillable, and the staff are super friendly. They even brought our food directly to the table, which made the experience even better. Definitely worth coming back again.

Just wanna start by saying this place was packed like usual and the food is just delicious I can't believe I haven't eaten here in couple years service was fast and efficient so I got 2 plates for like $37 was kinda pricy but was worth it on my opinion walked out full so that's all that matters. Family friendly and definitely delicious highly recommended if your in the area. Plenty places for seat inside with your ohana.

I've lived in Mililani for over 20 years and I really tried to love this place but I have consistently been disappointed. I'm honestly surprised this is the first time I've written a review because we have came here several times over the years to try different items. Our recent visit was sparked by the monthly newsletter. I love beef stew and previously tried the beef stew and didn't like it. In last months news letter it claimed to have made improvements so I decided to give it another try... still not a fan. The meat is much better than before. It used to be very tough and chewy. Now it is much more fatty and tender. The carrots and potatoes are way to big and unevenly cooked. Some are soft and some are still crunchy. The Mac salad tastes like straight mayo imo. The newsletter also claimed that they would be serving certain "saucy" items in plastic containers instead of the flimsy biodegradable ones, beef stew was on of those items. As you can see I got the flimsy container NOT the plastic container as the newsletter claimed. I also wanted to try their new drinks since they were on special for $3 this month as stated in this month's newsletter. When my husband ordered the drinks the staff had no clue about the monthly newsletter promo. After my husband made them aware they looked it up and adjusted the price. We were asked what type of milk we wanted for each drink (oat, almond, or whole). We chose oat and then we're immediately told they only had whole, lol. Okay whole milk it is. I attached pictures of what the newsletter showed the drinks to look like and what I got. I would not order either drink again. I had ordered the shoyu chicken a while back and loved it but after ordering it again more recently it wasnt the same and lacked flavor. They're famous for their fried noodles but personally I don't care for them. I will continue to read the newsletter and am still hopeful that I will find something I love so I can continue to support.

Laulau pleasantly surprised me as this was my first foray to Waipahu Highway Inn. Every time I got laulau at the Kakaako location the meaty (non fatty) parts of the pork was dry; this one was moist throughout, even in the meaty parts. Poi was good, especially mixed with the lomi salmon. Mom's squid luau was nice, came out hot, though it was a little sweet for her taste. The smoked meat was also a little sweet, though we know that's how they prepare it at H.I. Nice mix of smoky and sweet with the meat and onions. Finished with the haupia, which is standard and always dependable there. Like the old plantation feel and the old photographs of Waipahu all over the place, right down to the palaka decor. I do love this location more than the Kakaako one. Stopped by yesterday for two tripe stew plates and to me, the to-go container containing the stew was a little small, but they were very generous with the pipikaula. Each plate was around $17 and it included rice, salad, and haupia. To me, that's still a very fair price. I had ordered online and my order was ready to go by the estimated time. It was yummy, so refreshing and moist. When I had my last bite, it got a little too sweet means I need to stop eating. hehe. Check out Camille's, support local. We ordered 8 pans which came out to $842.00. A price we don't mind paying IF it was worth it. Lau Lau: Tiny, didn't see any fat and leaves were undercooked, taste was ok Squid Luau: This was the most disappointing of all! It had this weird watery taste, didn't see any squid and not much coconut milk. Pan was tossed. Rice: This is a no brainer since we are in Hawaii, unfortunately some of the rice was hard and brown at the top (looked like it was scraped from the bottom of the pot) Macaroni Salad: Very bland, had to add salt Kalua Pig: Taste was good (only winner) Smoked Meat: Only my husband liked it Chicken Long Rice: Another huge disappointment, it was really soupy, basically more liquid than noodles and chicken Hoio Salad: Some of the fern shoots were so tough and I found myself spitting them out Overall: For the price we paid, this was NOT worth it and we felt embarrassed for our guests. Back to Laverne's we go. You know that saying: If ain't broke don't try and fix it.

Heads up, there are two entrances: the left side is for dine-in and the right side is for takeout. We were seated quickly, and after placing our order, the food came out within just a few minutes. Large Wonton Mein (5/5): A super comforting bowl that combined classic saimin with wontons. Everything tasted homemade and fresh, from the chewy noodles to the light, savory broth and juicy wontons. It also comes with a side of hot mustard that has a surprisingly strong wasabi-like kick if you want extra heat. Cheeseburger (3/5): Apparently one of their popular items, but it didn't stand out much to me. The beef itself was savory and tender, though the rest felt fairly standard and a bit overpriced for what was included. Overall, a great local spot for comforting saimin, and I'm glad we stopped by to try it out.

They do have a sign in sheet but i didn't see them actually look at the list so keep an eye out if you find yourself having to wait outside for a table. The Tempura combo is still great, the Tempura fat and crispy but airy, meatjun was plentiful. Could even be enough to take home but I was very hungry. Bibimbap was a generous portion and had a offering of rice, green salad, bean sprouts, beef, and egg. Banchan was plentiful and you can always get refills. The Restaurant is a good size, there are maybe 10 booths but the ceiling was leaking so there were paper towels and buckets all over the floor, really couldn't help it bc the recent storms really did a number the last two weeks. Still, be careful as water was dripping on both the tables and seats. I did notice a bit of phone orders... like phone constantly ringing. The Owner still pleasant answering everyone and tending to us. Though we did have a great visit, we may do take out next time.
