During the day, this area looks empty. We dropped by spontaneously before going to dinner. We just wanted to see what it was like and decided to try out some of their beers. The entire front wall was opened up, so it was nice. A couple of people brought their dogs in. There seemed to be a mix of people here that night. You had mixed young and older folks...like, LITERALLY...you had the 20 somethings in the front with their dogs, peppered in with older folks. Then as we walked to the back, there were children sitting in a group and the parents sitting at a separate table across from theirs. It was weird but I had no issue with it. There are 2 bars, one in the front and one in the back. It's a pretty small place. You can order and start a tab at either bar, and both bars will keep the same tab. All the way in the back is where they brew their beer. Crazy set up, but pretty cool! Since we were there just for drinks, we ordered the Flight of all their sour beers so we can taste all of the different flavors they brewed in-house. Here's what the Flight included: - 4 taps, 4 oz of beer and cider - Pump up the Nibs (Pumpkin Yam beer) - chocolate spiced beer made with lactose and served on nitro - Weisse Guys - Fruited Berliner Weisse - A Berliner Weisse beer made with passion fruit, orange and guava. This fruited sour wheat beer leaves your palate wanting for more (my fave!) - Sour MashUp - kettle sour made with blackberry, raspberry, blueberry, and marshmallow. It has flavors of the aforementioned fruit that strangely go well the subtle marshmallow flavor - My Chica Brings All the Boys To the Yard Fruited Berliner Weisse made with Chicha Morada. Good brewery with a bunch of options for your beer loving friends. IPA's, stouts, ales, lagers, ciders...etc. Came here with my friend on a Sunday afternoon. We both got a flight. I don't remember everything that I chose though. But it was all delish. I do remember that I got a melon cider, a mango one, red ale, and strawbeery quik stout. They were all quite good! My favorite out of the four was the melon cider. I think it was called heavenly melon. It really was heavenly. So crisp and delightful. We didn't order any food, but their food menu sounded yummy. I also noticed that there were board games to play. Very nice environment to hang with friends. The bathroom was the nicest bathroom I've ever been in. First off, it smelled really good in there. Then I notified a shelf with almost everything you could need. Mouth wash, hair spray, body spray, lotion, so many necessities! All that was needed was some hair ties and maybe tampons! Po'boy I'm your boy! Big fan of this brewery! Been going to this brewery since they opened and all the beers seem to focus on being super smooth. It is located in an industrial warehouse area turned strip mall. Lots of parking and when you walk into the brewery you walk right into the tap room which is smallish, however if you are there with a large group they have private sections towards the back of the brewery. From a drinks standpoint their is always a large tap selection of ciders,beers, seltzer's which makes it perfect for bringing someone who isn't a beer lover. I was totally disappointed in my experience at Po'Boy Brewery. It was empty upon arrival, only 2 tables were taken and few stragglers at the bar. I decided to order some flights since I have never tried the beer before. The only ones worth mentioning is the Crisp-Bee Apple Pie which has a nice sugar rim and the Mangolicious Cider. The others were mediocre. The main disappointment was that the sour beers were not allowed to be served until 6pm. There was no explanation given by the bartender as to why this is the case but as sours are my favorite beer, it was off-putting that I could not order one. I don't really understand, in a business perspective, why you would limit your menu to only a few hours when customers are asking to order and purchase. That's just my thinking. I love the countless amounts of breweries popping up on Long Island. Almost all of them rock some quality brews and are worthy of return trips (just check my pint glass collection). But one thing that tends to get a little similar is the style or decor of the brewery. Industrial/brewery vibes are often found, and there's nothing wrong with that, though if you're looking for something truly different, Po'Boy is your place. Imagine cutting out a piece of Louisiana and placing it right into Port Jeff. That basically describes the ambiance here at Po'Boy. It's a regular storefront, but walk through the door and you're hit with a bayou vibe, from the hanging vines and wooden signs to the creole music piping in. It'll get you in that southern gulf feel pretty quickly. Beyond decor is beer...well, there's a little more than that, but hold on a sec, beer first. 6 brews were on tap when I visited with my buddy, and though this isn't a huge selection, the ones I tried were all stellar. Three standouts were the Old Kentuckian (a smooth ale with a hint of whisky flavor), Cloudy Mentality (A perfect hazy IPA with just enough hops to still be subtle on mouthfeel), and Chipotle Ale-Gator (my favorite with its genuine peppery taste and not too much spice, making it a winner for those who might truly love that veggie). Okay, beer is done. The coolest little addition to Po'Boy is the fact that awesomely friendly owner/brewer Bobby has duel licenses making it possible for him to not only brew beer, but also serve up some ciders. Four were on tap that day and we tried two (Heavenly Melons and Berry Blush), both having a tart undertone and not an overabundance of sweetness. I've seen that Po'Boy makes a Key Lime cider so I have to be sure to return to get my hands on that, and honestly most of the rest of their concoctions. Overall, Po'Boy Brewery brings some originality and individuality to the LI beer scene. Like dueling banjos we get an opportunity for beer and cider as well as a true sense that it's important to support your local craft brewery. Bobby instills that in his passion for the trade and from this, you'll get a strong desire to want to return. Haven't gone once yet? This is, hands down, one of the best breweries I've been to. The beers and ciders are out of this world and the flavors are so creative. The staff and owner are just amazing and so friendly. I stumbled across this brewery after trying one of their ciders at another brewery and was blown away. Whenever I'm out in LI, this is one of my go-to spots. The vibes are really chill and relaxing and the decor is very cute and punny. They have a variety of card and board games to play while you hang out. Although I was super excited to check out Long Island's newest tasting room, once we got there it was a bit of a different story. I feel with the newly owned space, they will be able to experiment and create new (and better) beer in the time to come. I look forward to visiting again in the future. Pros: -Space: there's a good amount of room to move about, and they have a couple stools at the bar, along the wall, and a couple cute little bistro tables in the back to sit -Décor: Po' Boy! It's got a really cool little bayou feel with the tree wallpaper, the wooden tap handles, the signs that list out the beers and ciders, etc... Cider: Not too many places pumping out hard cider so I thought this was a cool thing to offer at a brewery. We all have those days where putting down another IPA is hard to do, so now there's another option. Cons: -Beer: The selection was minimal. They offer only 4 different kinds and most are low ABV. The IPA didn't taste much like an IPA to me, but with an ABV of 7% that's what my crew hung out on. read more

"Education is important but beer is importanter." It all started a year and a half ago when I was with friends at Tap & Barrel in Smithtown. We were sharing a growler of a beer called Old Po' Boy Kentuckian. The growler went fast and we were left wondering where this delicious beer came from. The next time we were at Tap & Barrel, the bartender tragically told us that the Old Po Boy' Kentuckian was sold out and we had to choose another drink. This beer stuck with me ever since and so in December of last year, I decided to try and find out where this beer originated from and how I could get a growler of it. It didn't take me long to find out that this beer was made from a local brewery in Port Jeff! I immediately emailed Bob, the owner, and he said that his new brewery was opening in early 2017. I impatiently waited until today to surprise my boyfriend at the new Po' Boy Brewery and to be reunited with his beloved Old Po' Boy Kentuckian. When we arrived, we were greeted by Wesam and Bob who were such friendly and kind hosts. We purchased a Groupon deal for two people that came with: a tour of the brewery with history knowledge of beer and cider making, two coasters, two stickers, samples of the beer and ciders on tap, two full pours, and three tastings each. This is an awesome deal that I highly recommend. Join the mailing list so you can stay updated on the happenings in the brewery. They have live music on Saturdays and often have deals on Thursdays. I will definitely keep in mind that their growlers are very well-priced compared to other bars. The ciders were my favorite thing that I tried. I tried a sample of the sangria cider and liked it so much that I chose that as my full pour. One of the tastings was of the cherry cider and it was delicious. They were two of the most interesting ciders that I've ever had and were complex in flavor. I would easily get both again. I think it's just a matter of time before this brewery gains rapid popularity for creating local, honest, and well-crafted beer and ciders. My boyfriend was very happy with the surprise visit of this brewery and we will definitely be back with old friends who have missed Old Po' Boy Kentuckian as well as new ones who will become loyal patrons. Came back last night after dinner with my husband and had a great time as always. They have a new peach cider on tap which I tried and it was absolutely delicious and something I haven't had anywhere else. My husband had a voodoo priest and also thought it was an excellent beer. The bar manager was there and she was incredibly personable. She made sure we were taken care of the entire time we were there and we had excellent conversation with her and the other people who were in attendance. I went brewery hopping in the area with one of my best friends, and we stumbled upon this spot solely based on the NYS Brewer's Association Map. I had never heard of it, but since we were in Port Jeff Village, we were like sure, let's check it out. Man, I am so happy we did. This spot was wonderful. They have both craft beers and ciders, which is a great change of pace from all the other one or the other places. We each got a flight and both the beers and ciders were delicious. I've been dying to try this brewery for a while now, and finally made a point to venture out on my birthday! We went around 530pm on a Friday and there were about five people sitting at the 'bar' counter. We were greeted immediately and handed menus to view. Tastings were $2.50 for 4oz, or four tastings for $8, 10 tastings for $20, or a tasting of the whole menu for $28. You could purchase pints and what not as well. They had a variety of beers to choose from as well as ciders. We did a tasting of four beers and a tasting of all four ciders. They were all delicious! My favorite was the pale ale. Po'Boy Brewery is a microbrewery that also creates mouth watering hard ciders. While they may be new to Port Jefferson (Station), the company President and master brewer Bob has been involved in the local scene for some time and anyone who has attended local beer festivals will recognize them right away. I've come to look forward to their booths at festivals since they always provided really innovative and complex ciders, and now that they have a permanent location I hope to see this craft continue! The tasting room is of moderate size, with a few tables and a (stool) bar for sampling the various wares. 8 taps were up at my visit, with an even split between beers and ciders with flights, pints, and growlers available. There is room enough for a band (like opening night) and parking seemed easy to obtain even at a busy time. While I concentrated on the ciders, Bob (who puts in time as a national beer judge) also has made some delicious beer! On offer at the time was a golden ale, an American IPA, a coffee/chocolate stout, and a "Kentucky Common" ale which is made with corn and rye using historical recipes made by distillers. This was a lower ABV, which makes it a nice sipping beer but don't need to get their socks rocked off with a 7%+ IPA or something. The ciders they had at the time of my visit included a "common cider" (made with apples), a moscato flavored cider (that was crisp and did indeed resemble the wine!), a berry flavored cider (that was really sweet but stopped just shy of cloyingly so), and a "Sangria Sunset" cider which mirrored the blend of fruits from a red sangria (my favorite, and a really "pretty" drink too). The ciders weigh-in anywhere from 5.0%-5.8% ABV so they indeed pack a punch despite being really well balanced and drinkable. I would really recommend picking up a growler of the Sangria Sunset to replace a bottle of wine as a contribution to a dinner-party. Cannot wait to see what Bob and his crew begin to produce next. 5 stars for innovation and quality product. read more

I stopped in here about a month ago. It was on a Wednesday night so it was pretty dead so it was a great to relax there. I had a few different beers including a Kentucky Common and a Pumpkin Yam beer. I was surprised at how good the yam beer tasted. The bartender was great and always made sure to check in on me. This is by far one of the best breweries on Long Island! If you haven't been there yet you are missing out on a great time. This is not your typical brewery. The ambiance alone depicts the personalities of the owner/managers. With its bayou inspired decor, it's warm and friendly staff, it's superior selection of beer and CIDER, you may never want to leave. There is always something going on...Trivia, Comedy, live music, and occasionally karaoke. They have a small snack menu and board games. But most important is that Bobby and Wesam make it a point to get to know their customer. They make you feel like family. Customers quickly become regulars so the "family" continually grows. I was so excited to try Po' Boy Brewery. A place that puts out Cider and Beer under one roof is right up my alley. Right off the bat I had a bad feeling when I pulled up to Po' Boy. It was a hot Sunday afternoon and they had the doors opened with a fan blowing. I couldn't turn around and go home because we were meeting friends here and it's not exactly around the corner from where I live. When our friends arrived we all went inside and sat at the bar. We had a Groupon for a tasting and a pint. It was warm as all hell inside but we decided to stick it out. Nothing that a cold cider or brew can't fix right ? Wrong ! Our tastings were barely cold and as far as flavor goes very underwhelming. All four of us felt the same way about everything we tried so it wasn't just me being critical. I am shocked about all the 5 star reviews! Did we just go on an off day ? Idk. I really wanted to love this place and was hoping to put it into my brewery rotation but not gonna happen. Well I really don't know how to start off this review, because I have so much to say but here goes! I first heard about this brewery on Groupon. It looked quite interesting especially since I seen the name Po boy ( I was instantly sold because I like all things creole). But anyways back to what I was saying, I first googled it because I wanted to know more about the place the reviews and all, and so far I seen good stuff all 5 stars :). I purchased the groupon and emailed right away to reserve a tour for a group of four people. I was so shocked how fast Bob replied right away and put my group down for the reservation. I was even more excited to go now, because I was already loving the customer service. Mind you this place is in Port Jefferson, I was coming from Queens(hour drive) so you know this place is worth the trip! So as me and group arrived for the tour , the place was extremely packed but doable. As I arrived with my group we were instantly greeted upon and checked in. I last minute had two other people joined my group as well, and even though it was full at capacity , they really did their best to accommodate which I was extremely greatful for. Now let's talk about the tour, as a brewery enthusiast (not sure if that's a real thing) haha. I loved this tour in particular , it was very informative, learned lessons about making ciders which was a plus! And the intimacy of the place, learning about different beers from different countries, the culture, and bonus the tasting part! So yum!!! Bob also gave tips on how to really enjoy a beer as well( that was very different) . I would say this was the best groupon deal ever, tour plus a pint and tastings! How awesome!
