Stone ground bottoms, filled some minor imperfections in the base, sharpened, light wax, etc. The bottoms look like they did when the skis were new. Total was just under $100 . My son is on the national big mtn team here in town, and I bought him the Epic pass that would work for comps in Canada, but it had blackout dates- the week we got a huge dump AND Christmas/New Years week. I was able to scrounge up a discounted day pass, but then had to get his powder skis mounted unexpectedly- overnight. All the shops were sympathetic, but needed 48 hours along with his boots for a mounting. Another shop recommended Podium, and they were spot on! The folks at Podium let me walk in as they were closing for the night, and had his skis mounted by 8am the next morning. AND it was a little cheaper than the bigger shops! If you care about your skis performance, I can't recommend Podium enough. The guys here are professional and friendly. They always ask you when you need your skis done by and have been accommodating to timelines as much as they can. I've had them wax and tune several skis as well as install new bindings on a couple of pairs. It is very apparent that these guys are the best in town when it comes to tuning skis. You walk in the door and the entire space is dedicated to the job. You also notice that there are race skis from all of the local racers in the racks- if they all bring their skis here, these guys must know what they are doing. Poor customer service. Had skis and bindings delivered straight to the shop. Called and let them know when I would be coming in to pickup and set the bindings. They said it would not be a problem. When I arrived the employee working was rude and said he didn't know if he could even complete the work that day. Wound up taking skis to another shop and in 15 mins they had me setup and out the door. The main issue was poor expectations were set over the phone then once I arrived the worker just didn't care and didn't seem to want to try and find a solution. read more

I had an unfortunate encounter with a rock which resulted in a core shot to the base of one ski. The gouge was about the size of an oversize pea. I had taken my ski to this shop for repair. I talked with the technician about repairing the gouge by welding new material into the base. He assured me not a problem. I've repaired similiar damage before and know if done properly you'll have a hard time seeing or feeling the repair. However, in this case the technician failed miserably. My ski bases are black and this guy decides to put in clear, which looks white. So now the repair stands out like a sore thumb. Not to mention they didn't use enough material to completely fill the gouge before flat grinding the base. Yes you guessed it, area of repair is below the rest of the surface. NOT HAPPY WITH THE POOR WORKMANSHIP. read more

I was in need of a ski tune and Podium exceeded all of my expectations. Jeffrey assessed my edges and bases and recommended a full grind but said they didn't have time for the turn around I needed. When I came to pick up the skis I was thrilled that they fit my skis in. The bottoms and edges look like new. What a difference skiing on aggressive snow. Podium works on skies, mostly tuning but will also do binding work like new mounts or remounts. Have had several tunes over the last 2 years, not cheap, but I really like the quality of the work. They have several levels of tunes, from touch up to racer ready, you pick what you need. Usually can do overnight if needed that quickly. I prefer these guys to some of the other places in Park City which I think just do a machine tune and don't bother with a hand touch up so you end up with over sharp tips and tails. Terrible Ski Grind; charged me $98 for 2 pair of skis that were completely useless (bases concave/cupped so the edges were higher than the base) -- I had to have them completely redone. Absolutely do not go here. Here's my email to the owner Jeff at Podium Ski Service: Jeff I picked up two pair of skis you guys base ground yesterday. The order to your shop went like this -- "I just had three pair of skis ground from another shop and they turned out concave, which really pissed me off, so I brought these to you (at Podium Ski Service) as you are supposed to provide great grind/tuning. I need these skis ground FLAT -- no area should be concave-- then set a base bevel at .5" Bill's response "Well you should have all your skis ground here so that doesn't happen again". I used a true bar in front of Bill and checked the skis before I handed them over; both skis had slight cupping in the tips and tails (Rossignol Radical Pro World Cup SL 132 & 139). I picked the skis up two days later (yesterday) from you, checked the skis with a true bar only to find both skis were concave in the base and tails -- worse then when I dropped them off. Your comment when I noted this was "the kids skis are hard to grind, they lack torsional stiffness... etc." I made the mistake of taking them as I didn't want an awkward scene in front of my kids who were with me -- one of whom is on ski team with your son. I got the skis home and checked them carefully again and realized I can't race them as is. I called your shop and talked to someone (Joe maybe?) trying to find a solution. Joe (?) was very put out. Said he didn't need my "attitude", I didn't need to use his "shop" anymore, and suggested "my kid should just ski them and see how they ski". Hmm a tip tail that's cupped with a .5 base edge on a race course? This suggestion is comical in its utter retardedness. Joe went on to explain how some skis just can't be ground flat. Really? A few minutes of base work with a Ski Visions Base Flattener on the tips and tails, followed by grinding then setting base bevel would have made these skis perfect. Unless you are not running your grinder properly (and it's causing convex grinds -- an issue many WIntersteiger operators have as you know). I have an "attitude" because I spent 2 hours driving back and forth to your Park City shop, paid you $98 only to find my skis were no flatter than when I dropped them off, likely worse. I have an attitude because I now need to grind TWO pair of my race day skis TWICE (reducing their effectiveness and life), because your shop was either to incompetent or lazy to grind them properly the first time. I also have an attitude because I will be hard pressed to get these skis fixed with enough time to get multiple wax cycles in them before the next race which is in 7 days. I also have an attitude because your shop response to f-ing up my race days skis was a line of BS designed to confuse a typical unknowing customer -- "kids race skis just can't be ground flat" If this is really your shop position -- don't take kids race skis and tell customers you can grind them flat. I'm happy to pass this info on to all of the race families I know. Jeff, at this point I think a refund would be best as I don't have any confidence your shop has the skills/time/desire necessary to grind these skis properly. I sent my new skis out a week early. They had them ready and when I got there with my boots and bindings they mounted them while I waited they were friendly, professional, accommodating and did a great job too. I think they're very reasonably priced for what they did. read more
