We have never written a bad review. But with the horrific experience with PODS, we felt obligated to let people know. We booked a POD a month in advance of our move, which would include 6-12 months of storage and a cross-country transfer, so a significant account. We received a confirmation of the PODS delivery in a 6-9 pm evening window. About a half hour in, we received an email saying we were the next stop, then...nothing. We waited an hour and called customer service, who first told us the local facility ran out of PODS. What? We asked to speak to a manager, who then told us the driver had arrived but found the driveway blocked so left, which is an absolute lie. They said they had a photo - we asked them to send it to us..."sorry, sir, that's not possible." They kept trying to call the local facility after hours, telling us no one is answering - yah, it's 9 pm. Next morning, no follow-up call, so the only option for my husband and I was to cancel, rent a 20' U-haul and find a local storage facility, and we humped all our stuff out and in across 10 hours because our house was sold and closing the next day. After being in the Rental Agreement with PODS for 60 days, when I called to have them deliver my items to my final delivery address, they told me "we do not deliver to that town." At no point, in any conversation that I had with their representatives, was I ever told that there were areas they would not deliver to. And my address was under 100 miles from their POD storage facility!! So after moving my items from Florida to Georgia (510 miles), now they refuse to honor their promise to deliver my items. I would strongly advise anyone from using this company. I have never been so disrespected and disgusted with a company. I was told so many lies just to get my business. I rented my pod in April and only needed it for 6 months. I had it stored at their facility. While setting it up I was told that all I had to do when I found a new place that they would deliver it. Just to call and hear we don't service that area and you need to come clean it out at the storage site. If that was the case I could have just put it in storage myself. I found a town closer to them and they said it would be $162. Because the zip code I moved from was closer to them. Like what did they think I was going to move down the street 6 months later. Now I'm out of hundreds of dollars because I have to rent a truck and movers after paying these lairs to deliver my belongings. Just sad and disappointed. I had three PODs delivered from Texas to my new home in Georgia. The stuff inside shifted a bit from the transport and I was unable to open the roll up doors. Paul went above and beyond and ensured that all the doors opened before he left. He helped remove some boxes and used the "Podzilla" machine to lift the front to ease the pressure on the roll up door. Great customer service and ensuring everything was satisfactory. read more

The customer service was great and people were very friendly. However, after hiring a moving company (as pod associates suggested) to ensure no damage was done and/or to at least minimize any damage as they include so much insurance in there fees to cover the damage. Every piece of furniture had some type of damage that they refused to cover. You see, the insurance only covers your possessions if the POD is damaged. They won't cover your furniture if it was damaged during the move or shifting as it's the owners/packers fault for not packing the pod correctly. So you will be 100% responsible for fixing/replacing your heirlooms. As most moving companies will not cover what they packed, just what they move. Save your money and with a company that covers you on all fronts or move it yourself with hired hands. read more

My thoughts on PODS has done a 180 degree turn thanks to Miss Chloe in Reno! She should definitely get a bonus for being so kind and helpful! No issues and she did exactly what needed to be done. Super convenient, sort of. Dropoff and pickup of a 16' POD was great. Both drivers were on time, called twenty minutes prior to arrival, performed their task quickly and professionally and were courteous to boot. The POD itself I'd give 3 stars. Without doing a ton of research, I was expecting something that had an interior maybe like the bigger U-Haul trucks - metal ribbed with lots of attachment points. The POD, however, is essentially a wood frame skinned to keep out the elements. Attachment points are limited to the 4x4 posts by way of two eye-hooks each - not nearly enough to accommodate a load of various sized items. Still, I got it done. In Atlanta, if you need to put the POD on the street, as I did, you need a permit, which involves two trips to city hall - one to apply for the permit, one to pick it up and pay for it. In the interim, the city sends out an inspector to see if your location meets the requirements. And if you're thinking - what the hell, I don't need no stinking permit! - I had a city officer stop on the first day and declare that "we can't park that here". He was considerably less officious after I produced a permit. The permit was $20 fee plus $10 per day. The other not so good thing was the PODS telephone representative. Also friendly, but not quite as efficient at her job as the drivers were. I called to clarify something before committing to a contract and the rep just took that to mean I wanted her to set up the contract. After a lot of miscommunication, I gave up and told her I wanted to think about it, and then set it up on line in half the time I spent with her. Not cheap, but nothing associated with moving is. Also, PODS doesn't serve every city nationwide. My POD will actually be going to a city about 100 miles from where it needs to be, so there will be U-Haul pain at the other end. read more

I made a huge mistake in ordering a POD to help clear items out of my basement before movers came on moving day. PODS works on their schedule not yours. Planning around PODS delivery and pick up times is impossible to do give that they don't guarantee they can schedule a pick up or drop off when you need it. Their schedule depends on "availability" so planning around that unknown is one variable I could have done without as I coordinated the sell of one home and the purchase of another. Terrible customer service and inflexible schedule made this move a nightmare. If you are using PODS for a move, you should reconsider. I had four weeks to plan every phase of my move. Prepping for the move, selling a house and buying another one on same day with the same attorney, packing, transport, unloading, etc. I also had to coordinate floor renovations at the new home so ensuring contractors were ready to go and could start their work as the transition to the new house was happening was also something I had to coordinate. There was a TREMENDOUS amount of planning that went into this move as one might expect of transaction of this nature. The ONLY issue I had throughout this process was with PODS and for you to suggest my issue was related to my poor planning, reinforces my issue with your customer service and is typical of how you have managed this situation. read more

They have charged me twice fort one pod and then keep charging me monthly fees even tho I only had the pod for 2 weeks. They have taken a total of $580 over what they told me they were to charge and then say they have credited back my American Express but the credit never show. HORRIBLE!!!! Due to my husband's line of business we've moved from several states and have used several moving companies. Our entire moving experience with PODS has been filled with debacle after debacle. We will NEVER use them again and would recommend that you call around and use some one else. Be sure that your agreement is tightly agreed upon and you see it in writing. 1) There were constant debits and reversals to our bank acct which caused us to investigate what was going on. These were errors they made. Fortunately, we were able to match each line item (in/out funds). This was very unprofessional and unnerving to see. 2) Our price was different upon delivery and they will hold your belongings until you pay. You have to pay outstanding balance first then they will seek to resolve afterwards. You have no choice in the matter. 3) We called to confirm our delivery date only to find out that the person who scheduled the delivery to our new home wrote it up in the file notes but forgot to enter it into the computer. No delivery was scheduled for us. We then had to cancel our professional unloading group then wait a week for the rescheduled delivery. 4) PODS saw their error, apologized and said they would refund some of the cost back to us to rectify the error but then sent us what looked like a CYA email covering their error by thanking us for calling them to reschedule our move(?). WE DIDN'T ... they made the mistake and had to reschedule it for us. 5) When the newly scheduled date arrived only 2 of the 3 PODS arrived early that Saturday morning (what else could go wrong!!! Ugh!!!). My husband called them again to have the 3rd POD delivered ASAP on the same day as the other 2, as we had rescheduled the unloaders for that specific morning for a designated amount of time. PODS rerouted the 3rd to arrive shortly after his call. They had originally scheduled the 3rd POD to arrive 3pm later that day(???) . What a logistical nightmare. 6) We asked about our credit (refund) and now are being told that they are investigating it and it will take 30 days to review (?). I am hoping that we won't have to take this matter to NEWS channel investigators. We will. This experience has been our absolute worse as it comes to moving. The anxiety and disorganization for such a popular company has been unbelievable. The unnecessary stress it has caused us is wayyyy too much ... Ibuprofen and Tums (have them ready). Lastly, I must say that the delivery guys were not at fault at all. They were great and did a great job. The office folks ... well that's another story. read more

I have been calling PODS for a month with no call back. They kept charging my credit card. No call back and they have charged me more than 700.00 in fees that I should not of been charged for. They didn't deliver my pod as scheduled, the didn't pick it up as scheduled. I get the run around with ever phone call. Do not ever use this company! I wish I could give NO STARS. read more

Our move with pods started off great. When looking at options for the move, pods was expensive;, but the convenience of dropped off in front of complex, storing our items for 2 months and then again in front of our home was great. We paid about $7k to move from Hawaii to the mainland. All of the plans sounded great. We got our permits from the city to keep pod on the street, got the delivery time and the pod was delivered as expected. Our move went well and the pod fit all of our belongings as planned. The problems started when we opened our pod on the receiving end. We expected small shifting of goods as with any move. Unfortunately as we began unloading our pod we started to notice much bigger issues. Our goods were wet, clearly water damaged and some moldy. There was standing water on top of plastic storage tubs, our mattress was water stained from top to bottom (clearly soaking in as it dripped through, boxes were drenched and misshapen and the print on the boxes transferred over to sofa cushions and other pieces of furniture they were stacked or leaned against. We unloaded our pod and began taking an inventory of damages. An entire home of goods with little help takes a few days to complete. Once completely unloaded, we compiled a list and called pods to advise of the damage. It was a nightmare to get anyone on the phone, in 3 days I spent over 7 hours on hold, getting callbacks and being bounced department to department. Finally I got a guy who said there was a claims manager that would reach out shortly to assess our damages and receive all our information. I was able to send all the photos of the damaged items to this guy (through multiple emails because they can only accept 10 images at a time). Then the real fun begins- and continues! I have been going back and forth with my claims manager for 5 weeks now. They keep saying "we are working on it", "we are trying to get information" etc. I call and they say that they need to water test our unit. Clearly we didn't load wet items into the pod, it was unloaded in dry conditions, I have photos of standing water on our goods, I have photos as we unloaded and a video of the pod before it was picked up showing water damage on the internal walls. They then say our pod unit had already been given to another customer and they would have to "check to see if it is ok" to perform a water test on the unit or switch out for another one. So the unit was not tested to be water resistant or waterproof before given to me, but they are saying they need to test it. The new occupant says they don't want them to do it, which I don't blame them at all. It's not their fault Pods didn't inspect the unit prior to assigning it to a new customer. They say they can't really do anything until the pod is empty again and returned. So they are saying they will send an on site manager out to take photos and do a walk around. This will not prove water can enter or exit and in fact proves less than the video I have and photos of our items. You would think they would use the facts. Anyways, it has been another week and I still have no update, photos or anything more than I had a week ago. The worst part of this is that I am also working with my insurance company to file a claim because pods isn't doing anything (I had my own renters insurance on the pod). Because pods won't give them a statement about how the water made entry, I'm stuck waiting because of pods. This has turned into the worst moving experience I have ever had. Pods has done nothing to try and rectify this situation and find resolve. So my family and I are still sitting with damaged goods and mold on our furniture as they try to "work on it". With a family and 1 year old in the house, it is absolutely unacceptable. I would recommend you go with a company with better service, values and follow through. Pods has absolutely not been it. It's apparent they do not care about their customers. I'm sure they will respond with a canned answer of "send us your contact info so we can work on it." This is the worst company ever!! You get what you pay for! I packed my pod with extra care using bubble wrap, Saran Wrap and moving blankets, when the pod arrived everything in the pod was destroyed! Every item of mine was deeply gashed and broken. My armoire which stood by itself in the corner with nothing in it or on top of it was exploded. The bottom pushed through the base of itself. I was told that I mispacked the pod after sending pictures. My plastic bins were all exploded, I bought new ones and tried dropping them from my chest up and couldn't even get a chip out of them. They dropped my pod and ruined all my things and then blamed me for the incident. I use to pack trucks for a living and know how to pack a moving truck, this company is terrible!! I lost 15,000 dollars worth of belongings trusting them to move them from Los Angeles to Atlanta. Don't use this company. They also didn't deliver on time and was trying to deliver to the wrong address and again said they did nothing wrong. They conveniently could only locate half of the phone calls that I called in to set up service. They didn't even find my initial call when I originally scheduled the pod. Their people just repeat them selves over and over saying they were right even after I offered to send my phone records to show I made calls to them. THEY DIDNT WANT ME TO SEND THEM! They just kept repeating that I didn't call on that day even though I have proof. This company is a fraud and breaks all your belongings, just know you are pretty much throwing your belongings in a pile and lighting a match to them. Don't do this to yourself. My parents are moving out of their home for the past 25 years, and obviously not in the right mindset to deal with conniving companies. We were told by several local movers to not consider PODS - that they tend to hide the full costs of things or are misleading in some strategic way. Despite this, we decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. Within the course of 2 days, we were told 2 different things from their customer reps when trying to figure out costs. No, thanks. I had PODS drop off a 16 foot container to me in Atlanta, let it sit for a week while I filled it with stuff, then pick it up and re-deliver it to me in NYC. Every part of the experience was great. The driver at drop-off arrived exactly on time as promised and put the container within an inch of my desired spot. Pickup was just as smooth. Re-delivery in NYC occurred on exactly the day and time that I wanted. All of my stuff was perfectly intact. Every PODS employee I dealt with was professional, knowledgeable, helpful, and seemed to genuinely like his/her job. The POD itself was acceptably clean and in working order. I paid PODS some amount in the mid-$2k range, which I think is totally reasonable when compared to costs for regular commercial movers / packers / shippers. Great until they got your money, and you need them picked up. Took two weeks. Couldn't get out of our driveway nor garage. Virtually land locked. They didn't care. They used us, at our, Inconvenience, and the drivers own admittance, as STORAGE!!! 5,500.00 dollars for crap on me service. My advice, sell everything, and buy new when you arrive. There's nothing they could do short of refund fifty dollars a day per pod for my inconvenience. 1,200 dollars and an apology. Other than that, I'm done with them. 1. Possessions were held hostage for 2 months due to no delivery time available until after next billing date. 2. On hold for 30 minutes plus EVERY TIME I CALLED. 3. You have to SCHEDULE a time for them to allow you to get into your POD, 30 minutes on hold of course. 4. Mileage fee of $62.01 for 26 mile drive to deliver, after $240 per month for limited access. 5. Their schedule to deliver was ALWAYS a day or two after next billing date, conveniently! 6. Their POD was finally delivered, but their pick up date for their property is two days AFTER my next billing cycle...how convenient!!!! 7. DON"T USE PODS!!!! They are crooks!!!! read more

I was disappointed to say the least to find out I would have my pods emptied and it would be another month I would have to store the pods before they would be picked up. I have spent over 9000.00 to move and store for 4 months. They want to charge another 1000 to deliver and because they can not pick them up for another month, they will charge another 1000.00 for me to store the empty containers. This is for the national company PODS. I'm very frustrated this morning with this company. I had a scheduled move from one address to another yesterday and they said they couldn't find it. I called the night before to confirm they had everything scheduled & gave them my cell phone # and told them to be sure they call me not the original cell number on my account. So now I have 4 people who have driven over an hour to help me (saturday) and no pod. They say they have it scheduled for July 3rd but they are going to try to deliver it but don't know if they'd be able too. I don't think they will based on what I've seen so far. They also want to charge me another $200 because they didn't communicate internally. I've called 3 times to try to get this resolved. Beware of what you are in for. Let's just say that your due date comes on tomorrow. If you get the pod cleared out and call PODS to have it picked up today and they can't pick up the POD your card will be charge and you will have to go over the hills and through the woods just to get the money refunded, and by the way if you have overdraft fees because of this the representatives at PODS will not refund this to you and if one person decides to offer a "courtesy"it will only be $25.00. read more

They have a good sales pitch but once you give them a credit card # you are at their mercy...only recourse is some 800 call center with people who know less than you do about their services....I was tricked into paying long distance charges $1,200. extra even though I was less than 50 miles (their local move distance) They cannot guarantee what time they will return the PODS or that they will all come the same day.....so hiring people to unload smoothly is complicated...plus they don't work on Wednesdays making delivery even more difficult....imagine FedEx closing in the middle of week!! For the many thousands I ended up paying I could have had a white glove moving service without the headaches.....never again!! read more

It was the old bait and switch. I rented a POD for six months for one rate. I renewed for another six months at the same rate with the same pick up and re-delivery fee. I confirmed pricing twice over the phone. Once re-delivered, i was charged significantly higher for re-delivery that agreed. When called, they were rude, argumentative and would not credit me the amount due. The drivers were wonderful! However, the management does not care about their customers. I ended up renting for 18 months. You were think after receiving 18 months of monthly rental, PODS would had been happy to refund the delivery fee to maintain a happy customer. I graduated school at the end of December was interviewing in a few different places. Using POD storage unit until I knew where I was going seemed like the perfect solution. And it was, until I tried to get my stuff back. Then they became the most unhelpful, poorly trained people I have ever dealt with. After signing my lease for apartment, POD was the first call I made to set up a time delivery time. Over the first week, I talked to many different customer service agents who all gave me different instructions on what I need to set up a delivery (not the mention a quote to 'drop-off/ pick-up month's rent/ and delivery when I was clear they already had my stuff and I just needed a finale delivery quote). The calls went something like this: That first weekend: Pull your customer # and call back (this one seemed pretty standard... I called back in a few mins). No now we need the last 4 digits of the credit card # (OK fine, but why couldn't the first person tell me that?) By The End of the week: Oh yes, we can see that this is your account, but we have it set for a local delivery not a long distance.You are going to need to start over with a different department. (WHAT?!! I've been telling everyone what I need done....No one said it was the wrong department....and at no point was this a local move) - New Department-Yes, we have you account and that delivery date available. But, I'm sorry; you're not the contact name we have. Can you get [My Mom's name] to set this up for you? (Again, I identified myself by my name on every other phone call....where was that bit of instruction?????) - My Mom calls the next day, and they can no longer deliver my POD on the requested date because it was a long distance move and it will take a another 2 weeks' notice. We schedule it as to not lose the opportunity, but are still looking for a quicker/cheaper way and are told that it can be cancelled up to a couple days before. I start getting phone call, repeatedly, about an unsigned document on their website. But the 'unsigned document' has not been uploaded to my account. When I call to explain this, I am told the agreement is singed!! This is wrong for two very important reasons:1) I haven't singed it. In fact, I am on the website as I call back. Still not even uploaded. 2) If it is singed, why are you robo-calling me? Last night, I call to cancel the delivery because I have still a few days to do so, and I have plans to be in the original city (Jackson) in about 2 weeks anyway. It seems cheaper to just pick up my stuff while I'm there and driving back here (Atlanta). I have already paid to replace a lot of my belongings since I got my apartment about 2 weeks ago and need to live in it. - I call to cancel, and he ask when I want to delivery set to? I explain that I don't because I will be visiting Jackson in two weeks and plan on getting my stuff myself. He confirms the cancellation and then again asks about rescheduling, and again I explain that I will pick it up myself. Then I ask him about accessing my POD when I get into Jackson. Turns out my stuff has been sitting at a POD storage unit in Atlanta for over a week! So: * The delivery issue wasn't long distance because it was here before the first request delivery date. Just not here at my apartment. I might not have been able to move my furniture myself....but your telling me I just restocked my kitchen while all my old stuff was 30 miles away? Shouldn't I be getting some kind of tracking updates? * I guess I can't cancel a few days before because I have already acquired part of the moving fee. Again, that would have been good info upfront. * Why in the world was I not told the POD had been moved BEFORE delivery was canceled? I told him I was picking my stuff up from Jackson. I clearly didn't know that it wasn't in Jackson, but he did and canceled my delivery before disclosing that (like WTF) I say never mind, if it is in Atlanta, go ahead and deliver it this weekend as scheduled. At which point they guy says 'I'm sorry that delivery date is no long available, how about (insert date that is past my monthly rental deadline and will cause another month's rent) I don't mind paying another month's instead of the delivery, but now I am being charge both? Even though I called and cancelled before the set delivery, like I was told I could do? Now lets talk abut some training issues that would have made this all go better: 1- the first person should have been clear; what department I needed, what information I needed, and who should call. 2- I could have been given updates when my stuff was transferred so that I knew it was here, and at what point I was being charge for that. 3- The guy I talked to last night should have told me that my stuff has already been moved before cancelling! Brian gave me personalized service and took care of everything from assuring me about the condition of the container, to delivery of the container (on time and as scheduled), storage of the container and re-delivery. I also needed to access my container while it was in storage and he took care of that too. I would definitely recommend the PODS in Suwanee, GA. read more

The pod is spacious and accessible; but, most of all it is secure and durable for our long term needs. They are horrible! I will never use this company again. I used them during the purchase and sale of my homes. The move out of the home was fine. The move into the new home has been on-going for over 2 weeks! Firstly the driver got lost. We waited all day for him. I had to call and was told that the driver could not fit the POD into the driveway. He never even came to the door! He left with our belonging! Then the customer service rep was so rude she shared that she could only reschedule us for a week later. So we tried to get our stuff from the storage center where the pod was being housed. We where then told that we needed to give 24 hours notice and the place was closed!!! So here is its 2 weeks later and now they are telling us that the POD wont be here until tomorrow!!! I can't believe this! Online it should that it will be delivered today! We have 2 kids and they need their stuff! So unprofessional and disorganized. never again! read more
