My go to for fresh food with a little twist. My faves are the pork belly and roasted duck tacos with leaf lettuce instead of the tortilla. LOVE the guac and chips, big fan of the cucumber salad and recently discovered that the Nojito is top tier.. love this place for a quick small bite run.. It does get packed quickly so i would recommend getting a reservation if you have a big group

bartaco is definitely a beautiful restaurant. The atmosphere is bright, trendy, and aesthetically pleasing, and everything felt fresh and well-prepared. You can tell they put a lot of effort into the quality of the ingredients. My favorite item was easily the pork belly taco. It was packed with flavor and was the standout of the entire meal. I also had the chicken verde taco, carne asada taco, and pork tamale. The pork tamale was excellent--tender, flavorful, and comforting. The chicken verde and carne asada tacos were good, but neither was particularly memorable compared to the pork belly. The cucumber salad was probably my biggest disappointment. It looked fresh, but it had little to no seasoning and lacked flavor. Service was okay. It took quite a while to get my second Diet Coke, which was a little frustrating. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and would come back, but when I think of Mexican food, this isn't really what comes to mind. The food felt more Americanized and inspired by Mexican flavors rather than authentic Mexican cuisine. That's not necessarily a bad thing--it just wasn't what I was expecting. If you're looking for fresh ingredients, great vibes, and creative tacos, bartaco is worth a visit. If you're looking for a more traditional Mexican experience, this probably isn't the place I'd recommend.

So excited this spot finally opened! I used to live in Boston and was a regular there, and the Jacksonville location delivers the same experience. No, it's not the most authentic Mexican but it's consistently good, flavorful, and always hits the spot. Perfect for happy hour, a casual date night, or cocktails on the rooftop (which is a whole vibe). My go-to order: elote, the fruit of the season with Tajín, and a taco lineup of duck, pork belly, steak, and chicken. Bonus points for the hot sauce selection pro team condiments over here. They also offer great tequila and mezcal flights if you're in the mood to discover a new favorite. Service is fast, the energy is fun, and it's an easy go-to when you want something reliable and social. Pro tip: The rooftop has a more limited menu than the main dining area more cocktails and light bites. And Sunday Funday on the roof is officially on my list.

    The Taco Teaser

I had a good overall meal here but a pretty big mistake that makes me cautious to recommend Bartaco. My friend and I came in later on a Saturday night and saw the restaurant busy but not packed. I really like the interior design (warm and natural), and the seating was comfortable. We started off with the taco teaser and really liked everything it came with. The guac tasted fresh, the plantains were nicely caramelized, the cucumber salad was fresh and had a bit of a kick, and the esquites really stuck out for the great flavor and creaminess. The pineapple pisco punch I got was yummy, too. For entrees, we both got a cauliflower taco and a Brussels sprouts taco. I added a mushroom taco, a side of the seasonal fruit (pineapple with tajin in this case), and some pinto beans that I ended up taking home for lunch the next day. The pineapple tasted fresh. It was absolutely loaded with Tajin, which I didn't mind, but if you like a lighter touch, I'd suggest asking for it on the side. We both thought the cauliflower tacos were the best. The flavors were nicely balanced, and the pomegranate seeds were a great addition. I thought the mushroom taco was just meh -- it just tasted like average mushroom and nothing else. The Brussels sprouts tacos are where it gets complicated. We both thought the sprouts themselves could have been crispier and that the sauce was tasty but applied too heavily. The big issue came when my friend found a whole shrimp in the last bite of her taco. This was unpleasant for her as a vegetarian, but we were both anxious at the thought of how this could have caused an anaphylactic reaction in someone with a shrimp allergy or violated someone's religious practices. I get that kitchen mistakes happen, but seeing them happen with an ingredient that can be extremely important for some folks to avoid was disconcerting. Our waitress was great about it when we pointed it out; we watched her walk the plate over directly to a manager. The manager came over, made sure there weren't any health concerns with my friend, and apologized. So we were surprised when the bills came out and hers still had the taco on it. Honestly, I am not the type of person who expects freebies for a typical mistake, but many places I've been would have comped more than the taco for an error that violated a customer's dietary restrictions. So them not even making sure it was off the bill was a real surprise. So this is a bit of a tricky one. I enjoyed the food and ambiance, but again, I'm just spooked by the ingredient error. For now, I'd say that I'd stop back in to give it another try, but I'd be hesitant to do so with folks who have medical, moral, or religious restrictions on what they eat.

    Ahi-Tuna entree, kids quesadillas

Off the bat, the ambience of this place is superb. When we dine in we love to visit places that are thoughtfully thought out. Why spend a lot of money eating at an establishment that doesn't enhance the experience? The food also was flavorful and the passion fruit margaritas was superb. I love margaritas but hate it when it's made with a pre-made mix. (It should be a crime.) Barteco uses high quality tequila and freshly squeezed juice that way a margarita should be made. For the food, I got 3 tacos (ahi-tuna, prime beef, sesame ribeye), my wife got the ahi-tuna rice entree, and for our two daughters they shared the quesadillas from the kids menu. Our favorite was definitely the ahi-tuna. One warning is that the portions are quite small, but they do tell you on the menu! However, the prices are reasonable for such quality and tasty food! The kids entree was also sub $10 which is rare to find AND it actually was a decent sized portion and had left overs. On top of that the hostess and server were friendly and knowledgeable. We're already planning on coming back already with some friends. The margarita in the carafe is calling us. What else can you ask for?

The food was spectacular, very fresh, healthy, minimal fried items on the menu, fresh squeezed orange juice and lemon juice for the cocktails. The churros are fresh, crispy and comes with dark chocolate sauce and condensen milk. Cocktails are flavorful but need about an extra 1/2 oz of alcohol. Bar staff was attentive and gave us great service. Not a big fan of the music as it seemed to be all over the place. But i loved the coastal beachy vibes.

Beautiful decor!!! Huge change from the dark minimalist look of Black Sheep that was here before. Bartaco replaced it with huge baskets for lighting and gorgeous enormous colorful photographs on the walls. Kate gave the best service. There were good and bad parts for the food. They changed their tortillas which is an improvement, but the guacamole and all of their veggies have no flavor at all. For example, the spinach in the Korean ribeye bowl tasted like it was just blanched in water and put in the bowl. It would have tasted better mixed with some sesame oil, salt, pepper, and a dash of sugar. The best items were the green salsa with chips (it's different because it's giant circles that you have to break yourself), and the beef tacos were really delicious. I would still return for the ambience.

Bartaco brings a lively, coastal-cool energy to Jacksonville's Five Points, and it fits the neighborhood's eclectic vibe perfectly. The moment you step inside, you're greeted with bold flavors, upbeat music, freshly juiced-to-order cocktails, and stylish beach-inspired decor that instantly sets the tone for a fun dining experience. The menu celebrates made-to-order street tacos, freshly juiced margaritas, small plates, and comfort food favorites with a modern twist. Their cocktails are fantastic, their beer and wine selection is well-curated, and they offer hard liquor for those who want something a little stronger. Whether you're stopping in for a quick bite or settling in for a relaxed evening, there's something for everyone. What truly stands out is the impressive selection of vegetarian and healthy options -- fresh, vibrant, and crafted with the same attention to flavor as everything else on the menu. Every dish arrives crisp, flavorful, and beautifully balanced, along with quick service. Bar Taco brings together great food, energetic vibes, excellent drinks, and a laid-back coastal feel, making it one of the most enjoyable spots to unwind and savor Jacksonville's spirited Five Points charm.

The holidays are here and Bartaco is giving Tulum at the holidays kinda vibes and nights that warms you better than any ugly sweater ever could.I stopped in recently for tacos and yap, and we tried several things off of the menu including their seasonal tacos. * Check out what we got: trio salsa and guac roasted brussels sprouts taco retro chicken tinga taco carne asada taco yucatán shrimp taco duck birria w/ broth Korean bbq ribeye rice bowl roasted chicken * I absolutely loved their decor and the duck birria w/ broth was my fav of the evening. Definitely looking forward to hanging out at the Upstairs Lounge next time I stopped by!

I love this spot! The decor makes you feel like you're in Miami--bright, refreshing, and so aesthetically pleasing. The food is amazing, and rooftop Sundays with the DJ are always a vibe. Don't skip the sherbet ice cream, perfect on a hot day! Oh yeah, don't forget the pork belly taco

Really loved this restaurant and vibe! We came around 5pm and it was too busy so we got seated immediately. The interior was decorated fresh coastal vibes, I'd imagine Newport Beach restaurant vibes. Our waiter was very nice and friendly. He explained their ordering process which is to make on this sheet what you want and to put this card up if you need the waiter for anything else. I loved that they had an organized process. They have a QR code on the table you can order from and pay. But if you order using the paper sheet they provide you, you can't pay from the QR code. We started off with margaritas (regular and spicy) which were amazing! For an appetizer we got the pork tamale. Really good flavor maybe too much masa though. It was a thick layer. The green verde sauce on top was delicious. The tacos are small and are about 3-5 bites so you want to order more than 3 in my opinion which was perfect because I wanted to try a few different ones. We got chicken tinga, mojo pork carnitas, pork belly, ahi tuna tatako, carne asada, seared chorizo. I loved each one! We will be back for sure!

Our boss took us to lunch. We picked Bartaco for our lunch date rondavue! We headed straight in and waited for our counterparts. I had a coconut mojito and my coworker had a martini. When our crew arrived we sat outside to enjoy the nice weather. We asked to see if the roof top was available to sit. It was not. What a bummer! Everything was tantalizing from the rice bowl to the appetizer platter to the oyster tacos. You heard right, oyster taco. There was a lot of munching and crunching around the patio. The only down fall was the pork belly taco. They were overdone. We told the waitress but she did really care. We did not make a big stink about it either. All and all good vibe, good food and good coworkers. The chicken Verde will be my go to comfort food. My bowl was empty. Heck the whole table was bare after we devoured our tacos, salad and drinks. There is one word to describe Bartaco. Wonderful. To be continued

My fiance and I had such a great date night at Bartaco! We had about a 25 min wait for a table so we hung out at the bar and had a drink. The drinks are made from fresh ingredients. It was cool watching them use the lime press to make fresh juice. The vibe in Bartaco was perfect. Even tho it was loud inside we didn't have a problem talking to each other once we were seated. With our appetizer and meal they brought out a complimentary order of plantains which were SO GOOD! Actually everything was amazing. Tacos are about 3 bites so you'll want to order a few but they are packed with flavor. Definitely will be going back!

Apparently there's a policy on if you don't purchase anything you cannot stay in the establishment, which in my opinion is completely reasonable if communicated. However, that wasn't the case with my friends and I. I have previously visited this establishment but it was a while ago, so we were taking time to decide what we wanted to purchase. Instead of respectfully communicating this policy to us, there was a worker with striped hair and glasses who started yelling at us and cursing at us, telling us that we needed to and I quote, "get the fuck out of his restaurant". This could've been an easily resolvable situation given that there seems to have just been a communication barrier where he assumed that we were not going to make any purchases, when in reality, we were just trying to make a decision of what we were wanting to purchase. However, his aggressive approach was, and still remains highly inappropriate. He immediately assumed that we weren't there for business. It was an extremely aggressive encounter and we are very disappointed by it. His behavior made the ambience in there feel very unwelcoming. So if you were thinking of trying this place out. Save your money for somewhere where customer service is actually up to par. if you're going to pay for an overpriced and average beverage, you might as well be treated kindly for it.

I'll let the photos from other reviews do the talking, but if you enjoy a good backstory, ask about the history of the space. My mission for the night was simple: end the evening with a great gin cocktail. I started with the Donna Bella from the menu. It was well made, but I thought the bitters were a little too forward for my taste. Next, I asked for an off-menu modification: a Water Lily for Teresa, but made with Roku Gin. It was a strong contender--aromatic, balanced, and beautifully floral. If you're a fan of a French 75, this is a fun cocktail to explore. It's less citrus-forward and leans into a floral profile with a character that's hard to compare to anything else. For the final round, I went with bartender's choice. Mick asked a few questions about my flavor preferences and absolutely nailed it. They crafted a cocktail with Roku gin, snap pea cordial, aloe liqueur, egg white, lemon simple, mint, and citrus that was easily the highlight of the night. Fresh, layered, and memorable, it's a drink that deserves a permanent spot on the menu....Mission accomplished. If you're willing to wander beyond the barbershop business front and you consider yourself a spirit explorer, Volstead is well worth the visit. Go for a round...or two. If you're local, this could easily become your staple spot. For what it is, strong craft cocktail bar option. Bartenders choice is the way to go.

Location is great, and the staff seemed friendly. It's good to have a place in Jacksonville with an environment like this and a place where you can go and listen to jazz/blues. I wish there was more like this, maybe with a little bit of older, jazz, musicians and more people who appreciate jazz as it didn't seem like the audience was 100% jazz lovers, but that doesn't detract too much especially since there's not a lot of places in Jacksonville that do what they're doing here.
