To begin, I will start off by stating I review businesses qualitatively, not quantitatively, so if I came to a restaurant and the food was underwhelming and service was lacking, then you get a bad review. We brought our sailor here when visiting Mayport yesterday. My wife and I have decided to try out other places instead of going to the same restaurants. It was about 3:30 pm and the place was a little busy, but we were sat immediately. Our server was Riley. She seemed new to the job, so we cut her some slack in the beginning. She brought our drink order right away and asked if we wanted to try the Bison samples, which we opted for. About five minutes later she came back for our food order, but we hadn't received the samples yet and she admitted to forgetting to putting in the request. After trying the samples, she took our main orders, which included the bison meatloaf, brisket and burger. The food arrived after a little while during which time, she asked what condiments we wanted, which we found funny, since we hadn't received our food yet. The food was mediocre at best, with the meatloaf being small in size with big chunks of onion, gravy being runny and the onion rings under-cooked. When she brought the bill, she forgot to split it. Overall, we would not recommend wasting your money. After we left, I realized we had eaten at a Ted's prior in Colorado and the reason why we didn't remember is it was an underwhelming experience as well. The next day, I discovered she didn't charge for two of our drinks, so that along with the military discount at least lowered the cost of the experience. I guess no matter where you go you are going to be disappointed. The server training must be lacking these days. read more

Overall, the food was decent. We were greeted at the front and sat immediately in a booth, which have a private enclosure feel which we loved. We got the homemade chips that came with a creamy French onion dip. They also give a complementary cucumber salad to start, which was super salty. The delicious duo was a small entree, which is perfect if you aren't super hungry. I chose to get one beef burger and one bison burger (with the American flag). If you've never had bison, it has a similar taste to beef. The meat seemed softer, more finely chopped, and had a more "earthy" taste. If you're considering trying it, go for it! The Avalon burger came with bison as well. The onion rings were super thick, which made them almost too oniony. read more

We love Ted's because somehow we always end up at this restaurant on their busiest Saturday nights, but somehow are always treated like the only people in the restaurant. As we walked in we waiters a couple of minutes for the hostess to come to the front and greet us. Upon asking us how big our group is we were seated at our table. Our server took a bit to come and take our drink order after putting our drink order we ordered an appetizer which arrived just a few minutes after. The food was well seasoned and the portions were great. Once we were done with our food the server immediately brought us our check without asking if we wanted a dessert or anything. Third Visit in Seven Days--And Unfortunately, Our Last for a While!!!! This was our third visit in a week--and sadly, it'll be our last for quite a while. Why? Your manager. From the moment we were seated, the behavior was completely inappropriate. The manager was blatantly flirting with the booth in front of us to the point where it was uncomfortable and embarrassing. That was just the beginning--then came the loud, crude banter and foul language. To top it off, they involved a waitress in the behavior as if she were part of some kind of baiting act. It made us cringe. Look, be an adult and have adult conversations--but you are the manager. We had small children with us. We do not curse in front of them, and we certainly don't expect that kind of behavior to be thrown in our faces while trying to enjoy what's supposed to be a family-friendly restaurant. Even our server looked visibly embarrassed. Was our food good? Yes. Was our server wonderful? Absolutely. But was the experience worthy of a one-star review? 100%. We stopped in for lunch today and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. We each went for burgers, and they did not disappoint. They were massive, juicy, and flavorful. Stopped in for dinner. The salmon was very good the broccoli was undercooked but still tasted good. The cucumbers on the table were salty and not good. The New York strip was very good too. The server was good. It was mildly frustrating when I ordered a $13 dollar mojito and it was disgusting and when I asked the waitress she said it's sent back all the time. Maybe you should tell the customer why it gets sent back before they put that order in. The waitress offered to get me a new drink and then I got charged for both anyway. Ted's Montana Grill is a that specializes in creating excellent meals centered mostly around buffalo/bison meat. When you visit, you can tell that this classic sizable restaurant has been around for a while. The booths, tables, chairs and appearance is just about all made of wood - it can be rough if you have to sit for a long time. You also have an intimidating and stern stare from a mounted buffalo head up on the wall! But if you like your meal, and high chances you will, you won't even think about these things. It's been a while since enjoyed a bison meal. We had a stellar server in Hailey. Her patience and superb level of enthusiasm made the visit here delightful for a special occasion. I thought about getting a bison burger but Hailey helped me choose the bison meatloaf because it was a shop best-seller. The meatloaf was spectacular, modest red sauce on top and came with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli (I requested the broccoli because the carrot dish listed on the menu was buttered - the broccoli came with Parmesan cheese). Others in our group enjoyed various bison burgers. Some were basic of the lettuce, onion, tomato, cheese type. Others had burgers that were more elaborate. I look forward in the future to trying the one with mushrooms and a white cheese on it. Just can't remember what it's called. Overall, I found the atmosphere, which was enhanced by Ted's enthusiastic crew, very special this day. I look forward to returning in the future. The only thing I would say that even though Ted's likes to keep a Western-type look, it should upgrade the restroom. We have been to Ted's a few times and it is always good. I usually get the angus beef as I am not a bison fan. The Swiss mushroom burger was very good and cooked perfectly. The side of garlic mashed potatoes was also delicious. My husband had the bison meatloaf sandwich and he said it was delicious! His fries were also good. One of the spots I like to visit when I'm in Jacksonville- have been coming here since college. Menu has a lot of variety but their burgers are amazing. What really surprised me was the kale salad... hands down one of the best I've had. Fresh, well-balanced, and absolutely delicious. I decided to go here again for lunch, because this restaurant is awesome. The food here is always excellent, and so is the service. I decided to order one of their bison cheeseburgers. The cheeseburger was fresh and flavorful. I decided to have Swiss cheese on it. It also comes with baby arugula greens. Those were fresh and flavorful. This was my first time having bison meat and right away I could tell the difference between this and regular ground beef burger. The dish came with fries. Those too were very good. Served with a kale salad. Chicken sandwich- ok, nothing special but a basic sandwich. Came for lunch earlier this week with my mom, who was in town. She had never tried bison, and I cooler let an opportunity pass us by! So naturally, we went to Ted's. Mom ordered a plain bison burger with cheese, and I ordered the Knife and Fork, which is a bison burger (or beef) with bison chili on top. My God, it was GOOD! I usually get the Canyon Creek, which is phenomenal, but the one I had this week was amazing as well. Our server was Ted, and he was super attentive. When he found out my mom had never tried bison, he told her she was in for a treat, and explained the taste compared to beef. She can be hesitant at times to try new things, but I feel his enthusiasm and descriptions is what sealed the deal. Such a great guy, we will have to ask for his section next time! I met a friend at Ted's Montana Grill for dinner. Neither of us had been before and we were excited to try a new spot. They started us off with homemade pickles instead of bread. I loved them! They were crispy and flavorful. We ordered the homemade chips that came with homemade ranch dressing. The chips were warm, light and crispy. And boy were they good dipped in the ranch! For my main course, I ordered the bison brisket served with mashed potatoes, and I upgraded the veggie to asparagus for $1. The brisket was usually served with gravy on top, but I asked for it on the side. I'm so glad I did because I dipped my potatoes in it as well. The gravy was thin and so delicious! I'm not a fan of thick gravy. And the briskett was tender, juicy and ever so tasty! The mashed potatoes were creamy with a light butter flavor. And the asparagus was cooked and seasoned perfectly. We ate Easter dinner here. My wife has been asking me to have dinner here since we moved to JAX in 2022. Well, our meal here from start to finish was awesome! We shared the Bison appetizer with chips, sour cream, etc. For dinner, one of us got the Bison short ribs; one the Bison Brisket, and the other Cedar Plank Salmon. This is a solid 4.5 experience! Came here on a Friday night and we got seated right away. Our waiter Graham was fantastic, funny, and entertaining. I loved that the kids were given those little wicks things that entertained them a good part of the meal. I also loved that they offered kids Salmon as an option. My son loves it and to have it on the menu is a huge plus for me! I also loved that they had gluten free options and mocktails! I really appreciated the options and that they were already on the menu. We got the bison burgers and they were good. My gluten free bun was pretty dry but that's not the restaurants fault. I have been to Ted's in Schaumburg, IL (years ago) and one in Georgia about 3 years ago. I remember always loving their food so when we realized there was one near Mayo Clinic, we went for lunch. We ordered the bison nachos as an app...fantastic!! For lunch I ordered the Mushroom Swiss bison burger. Bison was very tasty...it came with condiments which you can add on your own. We had eaten at this restaurant in Montana during our trip there in May, so we decided to give this one a try. So glad we did. The ambiance is very nice, with a private western motif. We opted to sit in one of the enclosed booths, which gives off a romantic vibe on Valentines Day. We each started with a salad. I had the wedge, which comes with iceberg lettuce, bacon, tomatoes, and blue cheese. My husband had the Caesar salad, which comes with romaine lettuce, croutons, and parmasen cheese. For an entree, I had the bison meatload with garlic mashed potatoes and buttered carrots. Both the portion size and flavors were great. My husband had the filet with broccoli and asparagus.
