It was actually quite easy. Most things were closed since the school officially didn't open yet, but we hit the bookstore and of course his Third Avenue North residence hall. Big thank you to the student volunteers! The NYU Swap Shop is a good idea but realistically, cannot accommodate everyone. School has since started, and we will see how things turn out...Good luck to all of the incoming Freshman!

But, I have…read morecorroboration, TimesHigherEducation.com just ranked NYU in its top 25 universities in the world. Take a look at the other top 24 -- NYU is in elite company for academic excellence. It was just that stature that drew me to get my degrees there in the first place. Washington Square is a wonderful, safe, progressive community. It was surrounded by mom & pop eating spots that students could afford and the best vegetarian/vegan food anywhere. My classes were small enough for me to get personalized attention. My graduate advisor, Lloyd Barenblatt, was a star in our field and a caring, brilliant advisor from whom I took continuous inspiration. I will always be indebted to him for seeing my potential as a researcher and scholar. Whenever I needed a break, I could head uptown to all the glorious offerings that Manhattan is famous for. Or, I could spend the day in Bobst Library, to this day, the finest collection of written materials in the United States. Nearby are the historic buildings of lower Manhattan, along with the 9/11 Memorial complex. Just above legendary Greenwich Village which encompasses the NYU campus, sits vibrant new Hudson Yards. You can walk to a panoply of ethnic conclaves from elegant Washington Square. Music, art, fashion, education -- no city on earth offers more than New York, and NYU puts that at the students' disposal, around the clock. Is NYU expensive, is the area limited in terms of housing, yes. But, so are Harvard, Yale, and Stanford in whose company NYU counts itself as a superlative academic bastion of learning. However, affordable housing is just across the river in East Orange, NJ, which is where I spent my first two years. Also, Atlantic Highlands, NJ is just a water-shuttle of about 40 minutes away. I lived there too and finally was awarded housing at 110 Bleecker, with an 18th floor apartment overlooking lower Manhattan. NYU takes care of its graduate students. If I had anywhere to choose for my education, all over again, NYU would be my only choice. Thank you, New York University for all you have done for me.

Recently, we received an email stating that students are not permitted to enter classrooms before the scheduled class time so that instructors can "prepare the learning environment." However, in reality, many professors arrive exactly at the start time or even after class is supposed to begin. Meanwhile, students are expected to stand in hallways or find somewhere else to go even when we arrive early after work to study. The only alternative spaces are the library or cafeteria, both of which have very limited seating. It feels unreasonable to pay out of pocket for an education and not even be allowed to sit in an empty classroom while waiting. We then received another email about elevator use, which is understandable for accessibility reasons. However, the message stated that misuse could result in parent/guardian contact. This is a school of adults, and many of us are parents ourselves. Including language like that clearly shows how little the administration thinks of its students and reinforces the feeling that we are treated like children rather than responsible adults paying for a professional education. Another major concern is the lack of respect and support from some faculty members. For example, Professor Jayne Kier is extremely unapproachable. Students feel uncomfortable asking questions because responses are often sarcastic, dismissive, or met with long, intimidating stares. There is little guidance provided, yet students are made to feel as though they are wrong for seeking help. This creates a stressful and discouraging learning environment. Lastly, it often feels like students cannot safely voice concerns. When issues are brought up to administration, they are dismissed as complaints rather than taken seriously even though many of us are committed, adult learners who care deeply about our education and future careers. It is incredibly disappointing to be treated this way as paying adult students. We invest our time, energy, and money into this program, yet we are treated as if we are receiving a free service and should simply accept it without question. The tone and treatment are not only disrespectful, they are humiliating.

I must say it was not always smooth sailing, but no place is perfect. My professors held me accountable for doing my part, they are smart, dedicated and approachable. See for yourself, and remember this is a school that is preparing you to have a professional career, think critically and make wise choices In life, if this is not your goal then, this is not the school for you. Nursing is a vocation, it's not a walk in the park. With self discipline, hard work and perseverance you can have your degree at St. Paul's School of Nursing In several months.

I am simply here to inform you. I am not making an attempt to degrade anyone. I am only going to…read moretalk about what to expect so you can make your own clear decision whether or not you want to still pursue this school. And if you are a current student here's the inside scoop that I've discovered and you may need to know. I'm only going to discuss about the LPN and Medical Assistant Program. But please don't even get me started on other issues at this school...that is a whole other topic review. LOL! For one I attended this career college/ vocational school (just putting that out there for those who thinks it's a community college or university like I assumed) because it got such good reviews. I'm not sure who wrote those reviews, if they were actually students. Well here is my experience upon enrolling and attending to the Mildred Elley Metro NYC campus school. Yes, the staff is super nice and friendly very professional and will make you and your family feel welcomed. I love ALL the staffs and professors there, no problem with that department. I asked about their LPN program. I was told that it is an 18 month program because you have to take 6 months of your prerequisites before being eligible to take the TEAS exam (which by the way if you already took your TEAS exam and passed and expect you will go straight into the LPN program think again because they still will not accept it and you will still have to take the TEAS again and pass it again and a still take a few prerequisites classes). So for the first 6 months you are enrolled in the Medical Assisting Associate's program and will remain there until you pass all your classes with a minimum of a B+ GPA, pass your TEAS exam and if there's an open seat available because only a very few enter the LPN program. So even if you have all the requirements to get into the LPN program it is still not guaranteed. So good luck with that. If you can't get into the LPN program you will just continue to be a MA student. But you will be allowed to take the TEAS exam as many times as you like to get another chance at getting into the LPN program. My student advisor (which is the person that greeted you and enrolled you) told me that Mildred Elley has a bridge program that will allow you to go from LPN to RN ----- THAT WAS A BIG LIE!!! Mildred Elley at the Metro Campus does not have ANY colleges "at this time" that has agreed to accept their credits (I can't speak about the other campuses because I do not attend to anyone of them except the Metro Campus but I'm sure they don't have a bridge program there either) because for one it's a certificate program at a career college and no other college accepts their credits as real college credits and that is why they have no 2yr-4yr colleges agreeing to take their credits. I was told this by the Dean, President, and my Advisor themselves so it came straight from their mouths. But when you are enrolling into the school they don't disclose that with you they tell that they have few colleges that will accepts their credits for the RN program --- NOT TRUE! Very misleading of them and waste of your money if you plan on furthering your career and education. So here's the real truth about the LPN program: * It is 18 months to complete * You will graduate with a diploma * You have to take the NCLEX to be licensed to be considered a LPN and work as one * The credits are non-transferable (Because it's a career college and the credit are not considered to be real college credits) THAT IS IT AND THAT IS ALL to the LPN! Well what about the Medical Assisting Associate's Program? If I earn my Associate's degree I can go to any college and pursue my Bachelor's degree right? WRONG! Yes, it is true that if you have your Associate's degree you can transfer it to any college and go for your Bachelor's degree. However, that is only true if you have A.A.S degree (Associates in Applied Science). At the Mildred Elley they only have the A.O.S. degree (Associate in Occupational Studies) which is NOT transferable. It is just for the purpose to prepare you to enter the workforce upon completion of the degree program. For this reason, an occupational associate degree is referred to as a "terminal" degree; that is, it is the end point of the education required for certain related jobs and careers. Again, Mildred Elley will not tell you this...after all it is a business and they have to earn their money somehow. So if you have any hopes of becoming a RN Mildred Elley is not the school for you. I would go to CUNY LaGuardia Community College or at least a college that you will earn you A.A.S degree for nursing. So if you want to be a LPN and have no desire to become anything other than just a LPN then this is the school for someone like you. And that is the same for Medical Assistant too. But if you really want to become a RN please don't waste your time here at Mildred Elley.

Once you're enrolled and classes start the advisor gives you different information. This is school a joke and is looking to make money. They are not being honest with new students coming in. Horrible waste of time and money. I withdraw from all of my classes before the last day to withdraw and they gave me a grade of F for both classes. All my work was 90 or above on all assignments and participation. Why didn't get a W? Why a F? I received a call almost 1 year later threatening me to a balance of $1600 or I would be sent to collections. I never received a letter in the mail or anything regarding a bill. This school needs to be permanently closed for the fraud they committed. Other people has experienced this horrible treatment from these unprofessional people. After that, they disregarded school policy and changed the rules arbitrarily. They were petty tyrants in a small, enclosed space. But times have changed.
