This place is awesome. Friendly service and AMAZING smokehouse bbq. I had the combo with ribs, brisket, pulled pork, mac and cheese, and baked beans. Everything was perfect. The smoked wings were great and everyone in my party enjoyed everything they got (brats, cheese andouille sausage, buffalo fingers). Their homemade condiments are great too, the tomato vinegar was awesome with the ribs and the mustard vinegar was the best mustard I've ever had. Decent beer list and full bar. Great food and fun casual ambiance. Had the burnt ends (tender without an excessive amount of fat you often get on brisket, great sauce) and pulled pork sandwich (piled with a generous amount of super tender pork and served on a potato roll) and they were both fantastic. I've had bbq all over the country and I'm very pleasantly surprised to find such a great bbq place in my home town. Am attractive old hotel with lots of atmosphere. The host a bit of a stuffed shirt but the rest of staff was pleasant. Food was hot and delicious. Menu varied and prices fair. Drinks spot on. Everything there I've had is amazing aside from the crab Mac and cheese. I love seafood but to me this place if best for the smoked meat and ribs. Having been raised in the area, the news of Point Phillips' restorations was exciting, though, the restorations seemed to have taken much longer than expected. After visiting the hotel, it was clear the owners did not take that extra time to learn how to operate a restaurant. First off, the staff would benefit from some customer service training. We had placed a reservation a week in advance; when we arrived, they scrambled to find a place for us to sit. (I use the term "scrambled" loosely.) Finally, they just pushed two tables together in the bar area. When I asked what had happened to our reservation, the hostess responded with, "Well, you have a place to sit, so what difference does it make?" She seemed like a sad person, so we let it slide and continued on, though I just wanted to give her a hug and tell her life isn't that bad. After dining there, I understood. I'd be a sad person, too, if I had to work there. We ordered and finally our dinner had arrived. I don't mind waiting if the food is good. This wasn't good. It was mediocre at best, and tasted as though the cook called off and the guy washing the dishes had to prepare dinner. I had the seafood sampler, which was overpriced for the amount and quality...I've had better seafood from a diner. And then there was the mac & cheese. I think they forgot to cook the macaroni before they made it. I don't think I'll be visiting again. But, I never say never. I'd be willing to give it another try when the owners proudly advertise they've successfully completed lessons on how to operate a food service establishment. Or, when the new owners take over, because I believe that is the direction this is heading. Cheers! read more

This place is consistently good. I have been there several times for lunch and dinner and always had a great experience. The atmosphere is comfortable and the place was renovated so well, trying to keep the ambiance and old time feel. The food is always good, flavorful and hot and the servers are always pleasant and helpful. I would definately recommend eating here. read more

Service was very good. Attentive and pleasant. Apps. were great - soup and salad. Pulled chicken was perfect - moist and tender. My wife liked getting to add her own amount of BBQ aside, though there was only one choice. It was a good balance of sweet and tangy. I did rosemary shrimp which we're good, but should have come on rice, not having to choose a potato to go with shrimp. Next time I'll do pulled pork. Brew choices were good, though given the owner's connections I did expect a few more exotic options. Guess that might have been a bit much for the true locals.... We'll be back. read more

Excitedly awaited the grand opening of this place! This is a lovely country inn with great food and a wonderful atmosphere. You cannot compare this place to non-country inns, which is what some of the other reviews have done. Came here for dinner with my spouse on 8/9 Friday evening - it was packed, we waited about 20 minutes, which was fine, it's nice to see that the place is doing well. Chatted with some fun folks while waiting, and had drinks at the bar. The bartender was fast; wide selection of beers, cocktails and good wine. The menu is big, lots to think about. Appetizer and dinner portions are generous, prices are good, high food quality. The mashed potatoes are REAL, and their sides are all homemade. The mac-n-cheese is delicious. I had the grilled garlic rosemary shrimp (grilled perfectly) and my husband had pork and sauerkraut, and the reuben dip appetizer. Our server was attentive, friendly, and fast. Clientele was good; nice bunch of folks. The owner was there, greeting people and buzzing about. This is a lovely area, quiet, country roads, out of the way, and nothing to hear outside but the birds. The restoration job was top-notch - beautiful place, well done. We'll be back soon!! read more

Our family of 18 met for a dinner. Not living in area and feeling as though we have had great BBQ in our travels I was blown away. Could not believe how great this was and great comments around the table. Had sampler of brisket, pork, and chicken. Wife ordered baby back ribs to split. My husband and I stopped in at Point Phillips Hotel the other week for lunch. The food was great!! I am a very picky eater, and there was nothing I had that didn't taste just fine! I had the pulled pork sandwich which was one of the best I have ever eaten! and the Bar B Q sauce was good too. Homemade French Fries - which I normally would get horrible heart burn after eating - were excellent and NO heartburn later! My husband had smoked brat, which I normally would not eat, but I sampled it and it was very very good. And he had the mac and cheese - and that was just awesome! Are experience was excellent - and we go out to eat all over the place, including Bucks County, and this place is as good as any we've been to..... Not sure what the problem was with the one review - but all of the other reviews were good - so please disregard his!! We are going back this weekend with friends - can't wait!! read more

My husband I had dinner here two weeks ago and loved it. I had a half a rack of smoked ribs and my husband had a half of a smoked chicken. He could not get enough of their barbeque sauce! The meal and service were great. We took a chance and walked in without reservations on a Friday night. We were advised they could seat us in approx 20 minutes so we sat at the bar and had drinks - a cabernet and a Long Island Iced Tea (which my husband said was one of best he ever had - it's his go to drink!). We were seated in maybe 15 minutes. I higly recommend this place but do suggest reservations as this place generally is packed! read more

Went there 4-8.Party of 5 with a 6 year old. Made reservations the night before. We were seated right away. Our server Kim was very knowledgeable about both the drink and food menu. We reviewed the martinis and she helped me select based on my tastes. My parents live close., so we have been there quite a few times. Staff is warm and welcoming. My mother-in-law wanted to try as she heard it opened recently. Fantastic atmosphere. They did an amazing job with the restoration. We were seated quickly and the waitress was attentive at first and friendly. It was very busy and as the meal went on, she seemed overwhelmed as we had to ask for items 2 and 3 times, including when several errors were made with our order. The ribs, crab cakes and cornbread were to die for. Fantastic. However, the pulled chicken was meh and the pulled pork was horrible. It was not tender, at all, and was mostly fat and not meat. Very disappointed with that. We were there almost 2 hours as service was on the slow side. Quite pricey for an average meal, but we've had worse as well. The last thing we saw was our waitress standing out back smoking when we left, which would maybe explain her lack of attention? Certainly didn't make me feel good about having her handle my food. read more

My boyfriend and I were went to this beautiful restaurant this past weekend and it was packed! You know you are going to a fantastic place when you see people waiting outside sitting on the benches and stone wall in the front of the building. We went to give our names to the hostess and she was very warm and welcoming and informed us of the wait time and said please come to the bar and pick out one of our specialty beers or cocktails while you wait. We were even able to take out drinks outside. What a nice touch. While we were waiting outside we saw people leaving with boxes and smiles on their faces talking to their friends about the next time they wanted to meet there. This made me even more anxious to get in there and start eating, my mouth was watering! Sure enough the hostess came out and called our name (yay!) we walked through the dining room and it was breath taking to see all the gorgeous work that was put into this historic building (I did my research before I went to the restaurant). Everything from the beautiful bar, furniture, fireplace, beams on the ceiling and fixtures on the wall had a nice touch. As we sat the server came over and asked us if we wanted another beverage at the time and also asked if we wanted to put any appetizers to start off with. We started off with some smokehouse wings, they had just enough smokiness to them! For our dinners my boyfriend had the sampler which included: ribs, pulled pork and 14 chicken and for myself I had the crab cakes. All the dinners come with your choice of side(s) so of course (as I try eating healthy) I chose a side salad and coleslaw. If you are a side salad snob like me, you are going to LOVE their side salads. It's is by far one the best side salads I have ever had before. Guess what? NO ICEBURG LETTUCE AT ALL!! How often do you find a place that doesn't serve iceburg? I know salads to some people are so minute compared to the actual meal, but to me that was a good sign! It was all mixed greens, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese and croutons and there parmigian peppercorn dressing is addicting. Are meals come out and my boyfriends meal is every man's dream, a huge plate of different kinds of meat! He loved it! My crab cakes were amazing and the coleslaw was out of this world. You could tell that the coleslaw was homemade, yum yum! For dessert we had a piece of homemade coconut cake that was so moist. As we were leaving we passed a few servers and they all said have a great night and then passed a tall gentleman and he asked how everything was, spoke briefly to us and said he was looking forward to us revisiting. As I walked out I concluded that he was the owner. It was very nice of him to acknowledge us. Service was a little slower, but keep in mind that is expected especially since this restaurant is very new and like many restaurants that just open the service tends to be a little slower until they have their feet in the ground. I was down the steps out of the restaurant and I was already making plans for the next time we were planning to visit, THIS weekend for my boyfriend's family anniversary party! The old place looks marvelous, compared to what it was like several years ago under former owners, however, looks aren't everything. The dining room we were placed in was too small for the number of people being seated there, and there was nothing done to quiet the atmosphere. It was so noisy, from hard walls, floor and ceiling, that the four of us at our table couldn't hear each other speaking. The answering machine said, because of rapid turn-over, reservations were not necessary. Wrong. We waited 45 minutes to be seated. Luckily the weather this weekend was fantastic. After being seated and our orders were taken, we waited an hour for our meals. The mac and cheese was probably the worst I've ever tasted. Although the Manager told us it was made fresh, individually, it tasted like the cheese sauce or the macaroni was setting in an open container for too long in the refrigerator and too many other odors drew into them. Also, it was completely dried up. No nice creamy cheesy texture that one would expect from freshly made mac and cheese. Couldn't eat it at all. The German Potato salad tasted "old" (possibly the bacon used for the dressing was rancid). The fresh lima beans, vegetable du jour, were under cooked and quite hard. The coffee was magnificent. Loved it! The smoked brisket, pulled pork and chicken were all excellent. If all our meal consisted of was the meat, the only person to be slightly disappointed by the meal would have been the broiled (or baked) salmon orderer. Pretty small portion for the price, however he did say it was quite tasty. The waitress was kind and attentive and perfectly nice to speak to. The Manager was quite obliging, taking half the price off of our entire bill for 4 meals. Even so, we all agreed we probably would not dine there again. read more
