Headed here for dinner and drinks in this casual bar & grill that's been around forever. State Quarry has a huge selection of draft beer and also makes a mean cocktail, so we decided to have a few. We've had Chicken Wings here before so decided that was the way to go. But first started off with some French Onion soup which was yummy. Then next came the Chicken Wings with a side of Old Bay French Fries. I got traditional wings with hot & honey sauce and my wife got them grilled. The wings were cooked perfectly and simply delicious! The fries were a little disappointing as they were only sprinkled with the Old Bay seasoning instead of being coated first and then deep fried but I highly recommend stopping in for some top notch Wings. read more

We had the mosey amazing bartender, Kayla! She was very knowledgeable about, not only, the beer selection and cocktails, but the entire menu! She explained what was house made and some of the process. That kind of information is precious to me as an informed customer. She was simply great. The food was all excellent. The brisket sandwich was a very generous portion of great tasting brisket. The wings were some of the best I have had recently in comparable establishments. Our absolute favorite was the smoked stuffed jalapeños. They were absolutely an amazing treat. We cannot wait to head back to SQH! read more

We also had the bacon wrapped scallops and some chicken wings. He had the steak. He shared some of it with me; it was perfectly cooked medium rare and super flavorful! Terrible food, I would never eat here again. Thursday night, 5:30 pm. I ordered a rack of ribs. The ends were actually cool. I told the server about it, and she said that she knows they ran out of ribs and that's probably why they were cold. How are you out of ribs at 5:30? Nobody was even there yet!! I was an idiot and let her bring me another order. The second order had obviously been nuked really hard in the microwave. It was insanely hot, to the point that it was way too hot to eat for over 5 minutes, with the typical pockets of steam from nuking it. Oven cooked, or grilled, meat doesn't come out like that, EVER. The ribs were really tough, chewy, and dry. I actually had to cut two ribs apart to eat them, they were too tough to pull apart. I'm no master chef, but I do know you can't crank on a frozen rack of ribs in a microwave and have them be worth eating. In a group of 4, my meal was AWFUL, another said their Brisket Steak sandwich tasted bad, the other 2 in our group said their food was OK. The server was nice, I felt bad that she is in a position of having to serve crappy food from a kitchen that obviously doesn't know what they are doing. I am shocked they have any positive reviews. This was awful! The two stars is for the extremely pleasant waitress. I had a Buffalo chicken sandwich and my husband got the burger. The chicken was rubbery and disgusting. I ate 2-3 bites and just left it. My husband said the burger may have been fresh at some point, but had been frozen for a little while. The taste was terrible and he left most of his too. Food is good but the prices have increased significantly. I understand prices increasing for certain items but their prices have gone up $3-$4 per sandwich, entree, etc... Furthermore, they have an outdated menu on their website which do not correctly reflect current Prices. This has been brought to managements attention at least three times and they still haven't changed it. read more

I don't know where to begin except to say we were disappointed. We've eaten here before and the food was excellent, the service better than average, and the wait time minimal. Let's begin with the reserved tables. This is a bar, not a fine hotel and it is odd that entire tables are reserved hours in advance of people showing up. The place was less than 1/3 full. yet we were forced from the main dining room because tables were reserved, ended up in the bar area with the higher cafe tables, not an easy climb into the chair for a man of my size. Since this is a seat-yourself establishment, you have to check each table for the reserved card while patrons nearby watch as your futile search proceeds. Nice way to greet a customer- make them find an open table on their own. One gets the feeling that return customers are not given the same level of respect and attention than the locals who drop in for a beer nightly and for dinner on the weekend. Our waitress did a fine job of serving us and that was the best part of the evening. I ordered a cup of chili and my wife ordered a salad. The last time I ordered chili here, it came with some shaved cheese and onions on top, was thick and meaty with a nice bite. This time no extras- runny bland chili in a cup. I ordered a cup of chili and that is what I got. My wife's lettuce was all iceberg- no thought of adding a few spinach leaves, since there is no romaine lettuce, Chef Slate? Or how about springing for locally grown romaine lettuce? Not all the lettuce was banned. This looked like a make your own salad from the grocery store. It wasn't brown and wilted. so there is something positive in that. My wife ordered the french dip and the meat was dried out and grizzled and the fries were the very thin-cut style, which tend to get cold faster and her fries and my fries were luke-warm to cold. I had a bacon cheeseburger, American cheese, with a side of fries. The burger was greasy-over cooked and not tasty at all. The food made it out of the kitchen in a timely fashion, it just wasn't well-prepared or was of inferior quality. We have enjoyed this place for more than a few years, this may have been our 5th time back and we were shocked by their drop in quality. I do want to credit them for their presentation of the Belgian Pilsner in a special Stella glass.The beer was cold and delicious. For most folks at a bar, that's enough. As for us and the Slate Quarry Hotel - that is not enough. Sadly, we wont be back. read more

Then the girl said the fries come with it so we asked for sweat potato fries and she didn't once say it would be extra or I wouldn't have gotten them who charges 3$ extra for what she told us comes with the meal? We have been going to Slate for over a year, and it's the best food and drinks in town. The prices are great and the service staff is top notch. Take a seat in the bar area and Casi has you covered! She's without a doubt the best bartender in the Valley. She always has a big smile and is ready to get you what ever you need. She's a huge reason we keep coming back every week! A friend and I stopped in, hoping for an adult beverage and a change of scenery from our usual haunts. The place was fairly empty, but it was about 6 on a weekday, so that was to be expected. We seated ourselves and waited fifteen minutes to be acknowledged. I tried making eye contact with the server and the fellow behind the bar to no avail. Eventually, a server comes up to us, and we place our order. The waitress cards us, which is kind of surprising - I'm pretty obviously a grownup, but that's fine, I get that they're trying to make sure they don't get in trouble. I don't have my ID on me 'cause I had just switched purses. She looked confused, told us to wait a minute and walked back to the kitchen. I think she was asking all the employees of the place if they knew me, but it had the delightful effect of making all their staff stare at me as though I was some sort of zoo animal. There were heads peeking out the kitchen door at me. It creeped me out. After a couple of minutes, she returned and said she wouldn't be able to serve me. That was understandable, so we left. Yeah, it's my fault that I didn't have my ID, but that doesn't excuse a 15 minute wait to be acknowledged, and then the overkill acknowledgment of being gawked at like a sideshow act for five minutes while they decide what to do with a grownup who doesn't have ID. read more

My family and I have frequented this establishment several times. Today we were the only table occupied and a few at the bar. We ordered and waited over 45 minutes for burgers and the waitress was rude when we asked why it was taking so long. The waitress was nowhere to be seen. Now granted, we love the food and prices are reasonable but it'll be a while till we go back. read more

This is my local bar closest to my house and is perfect for us who live "in the country" and don't feel like making a drive into Bethlehem or Nazareth. They have great service and food and drinks specials. Plenty of seating...the only thing missing is no outdoor seating. Besides that it's all good! read more

Upredictable at best. Sometimes the food will be good and sometimes it will be overcooked and the meat will be all gristle. For some reason the fries are always cold. When they do get it right the food is good but it's a rare thing. When they get it wrong don't expect the servers to apologize or do anything to make it better. Your choice is to have them take the food away or order something else and either way you pay for both dishes. The prices are high too so expect that. To give you an idea they charge an upcharge of $4 to order their homemade potato chips in place of storebought potato chips with sandwiches. read more

Service. We order lunch from here often with work and normally have a great experience. Occasionally we get badgered over our tipping due to not tipping a large amount due to doing carry out. Food. Normally the good is really really good. The chicken panini is amazing. My only complaint is the chicken is normally dry, but the pesto and mozzarella on the sandwich are great! I read many of the reviews here and can't believe the 1 star evaluations. It's like a Jekyll-Hyde comparison to our experiences. We've been coming here probably 8, 9+ years (after the new management) and several years before when Len owned it. I know early on there were a few minor startup glitches, normal for any new owner. No big deal. As for the quality of food, I don't know any better. I think they have the BEST chicken panini in the Valley, and my better half claims the Cobb Salad is to die for. Last night I had the "drunken fish sandwich" and WoW! I have to rate it right there with the chicken panini. We never have had problems there with the food nor the wait staff. I think they're near or at the top when it comes to casual, tasty, reasonable priced food. They have homemade chips too...you got to go a long way to find any better. read more

I went there hearing good things about this place but I was disappointed. We ordered an appetizer that never made its way to our table and then we never received our french fries that were supposed to come in my daughters basket. When I asked about the fries, I was told they had to make more however they never showed up. Other tables received fries but not ours. I am all for supporting small local restaurants but when my child leaves hungry I cannot return. read more
