No sign outside but was able to find it simply by plugging in the address into my maps app. Coach Vanessa payed close attention to the athletes and coached me on proper form. Inside space is small, but outside space is big and open. There are cubbies to hold your items and a water dispenser to fill your own container. Kauai CrossFit in Poipu truly gets it - they create a warm, inviting community. I am neither a local not an elite athlete but have joined them for over 20 years while on vacation and have gotten good workouts in a super positive environment. if you are a terrific athlete, you will find others like yourself. But there are also regular folks who are there to sweat and get instruction. the team really makes it successful for all. my physical condition has declined to the point where I am largely retired from CrossFit, but I still work out hard during open gym. The staff has only encouraged me and provided tips and positive reinforcement during my workout. read more

We've been CFers for a while and dropping into classes is always a highlight of any trip. CF Poipu was so welcoming! Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted and felt comfortable. Our coach showed us where the typical bathrooms, water fountain and cubbies were. Once time for class was to start, we got our thorough walkthrough of warmups and movement standards for the workout. I have to give this place another 5 stars...after being introduced to CrossFit here 2 years ago, I tried others back in California, but they couldn't compare. The quality of coaching is outstanding. These coaches keep you safe, motivated, challenged & encouraged....and you'll leave having had the perfect workout for you! I'm only here for a short time, so was a little reluctant to pay the weekly fee, but decided to treat myself. What was I thinking???? Why wouldn't I do this! Crossfit Poipu is newly opened and located in Poipu a block from the roundabout headed to Koloa. It's hard to find even when you know where they are...(go through the market to the door to the warehouse in the back), but well worth it once you get there. Once you get there the staff and the other athletes are friendly and welcoming. I got a great workout and a new shirt for $30. After a warm up we did some OH squats, a burner WOD with sandbags and running and then some additional 400M sprints if you want for "fun". Some great coaching, but I would advise against the "advice" for the Hyatt slide (I am now banned for life from that slide). read more

If you are staying on the south shore or even if you are not, this place is a must! We were in Kauai for 12 days paid the fee for unlimited visits with shirt and we were not disappointed! The 6;30 am class was full of fun and friendly folks, the WODS were perfect . I love 3 part workouts , plan on spending a full hour there , perfect way to start the day ! Jamie worked with us every WOD, not like we just dropped in and knew he would not see us again, with in minutes of a dead lift wod he pointed out a couple of things I should do different. I did a deadlift WOD back at my home gym and reached a 20# PR, It was a direct result of his coaching! When you go there tell them Hi from CrossFit Radiate in Bishop Cal! I can't say enough good things about this killer box! I dropped in 4 times during my recent vacation to Kauai, and I'm sad that I live so far away and can't work out there anymore! I was greeted enthusiastically by both the coaches and local students - I could immediately tell CF Poipu is a warm, supportive environment. Coaches Rory and Eric were amazing - I wish I could get my fitness on with them on a regular basis! I'm recovering from an injury and they gave smart scaling recommendations so I could still get a great workout in, and even remembered my name during the workouts! While spending my time in poipu I wanted to make sure I found a place to workout. Crossfit is on my daily routine so finding a box would be perfect. Crossfit swift poipu s rough rustic looking place wasn't too sure about it but figured that beige it a try. All I can say I went back every single day. Trainers where amazing and made sure you were okay with every movement and would correct you where needed. The workouts well great stretch, warm up and wod. I have found my new box each time I'll be in the area. It s a must try. read more

Great little box with a great community! My husband and I were visiting and decided to get some CrossFit tourism on. We dropped in on a weekday evening, standing awkwardly at the desk while a class was in session. One of the coaches who was warming up for her workout came up to us, introduced herself, and then introduced us to the coach for our class. While waiting for our class to start, other members would come up and introduce themselves to me and it really made me feel very welcomed to the community. The workout was grueling as all workouts are, but the thing I loved the most was just how welcoming and friendly this community is. It truly reflected the aloha spirit of the islands and I'm definitely looking forward to returning to Kauai and working out here again. read more

Crossfit Poipu is a great box to visit on a vacation in Kauai. It is located in Poipu, near the roundabout, a very short distance from the resorts that line the beach in Poipu. The building is kind of funky, you have to go through a grocerty store to get to the entrance. Inside, they have all the equipment for any crossfit workout: rogue bars, hi temp bumper plates, a nice rogue rig, med balls, kettlebells, ab mats, jump ropes, plyo boxes, c2 rowers, air dynes. They even have some things most boxes don't: sand bags, a ski erg, tractor tires, and atlas stones. They are used to visitors and are very welcoming, and the instructors keep a watchful eye and are good about scaling movements when appropriate. I stayed for the yoga class afterwards and the instructor, Mary really knew her stuff. They offer the typical drop in+t shirt deal for $20, but if you want a hat instead of a t shirt you can get that. read more

While on vacation I just dropped in at Crossfit Poipu for a WOD. I took my sister and my niece with me, they are considering starting Crossfit. I was a bit concerned when I saw power snatches on the white board, as that is a very technical lift to coach and to perform . Jamie, the coach and one of the owners, did an awesome job teaching them this technical lift, that they had never done. The coaching was great, the vibe is awesome and the programming was great also. I would recommend anyone visiting on vacation to drop in at this box or if you are a local and interested in Crossfit, go check it out, will be worth it for sure! read more

I have been cross fitting for 1.5 years. I travel a lot and always try the local CF gym. This is one of the best I have been to. The coaches are great and always go over form as a group. Then you condition and then the WOD. Great work out! The members of the gym are very friendly. The gym is located at the back of a grocery store next to the BEST juice bar. Rowing Machines! They have more than 6 (maybe 8?) Concept 2 rowers (ergs) here that we were able to use for training while on Kauai for two weeks. This place feels very local but that's the charm. "Local" is a compliment because they are SO friendly and very inclusive. read more

Visiting the Poipu area, we thought it would be cool to visit a local box. Eric was immediately welcoming and made you feel at home. This has to be one of the most unique boxes I've ever visit. You enter through a great local food market or via an alley. Of the 5 classes we attended, there were always more guest than members and the coaches do an amazing job customizing the workout for each attendee, while keeping the class moving along. The workouts are fast paced, cardio focused and a lot of fun. Don't mistake, there is weight training, but it seems to be in a more circuit training fashion. Thank you to Eric and Juan for providing a great experience and treating us visitors like locals. Kauai was amazing and Crossfit Poipu added to the whole experience. read more

Came as a drop in while on vacation and had a great experience. Conveniently located only a mile away from Marriott Waiohai where I was staying. The coaches were welcoming and friendly. If you're new to Crossfit, they really take the time to go through the fundamentals so that you can properly perform the movements. Bigger than I expected. A quick heads up to newcomers, the entrance of the box is located in the back left corner of the grocery store, so be sure to GO THROUGH the store. Now have @ it and sweat a little (more like a lot) while you're visiting the island and nearby. The juice bar just outside the box has some great acai bowls and smoothies to re-up after your WOD. Will definitely be dropping by again should I find myself in town. read more

I've been to 3 CF boxes in Kauai, and this is by far the best. What they lack in box size they make up for in coaching and community. BTW, they are completing a new box over by Kauai Christian Fellowship, and it is huge, so this will officially make them the beast of the island. Pros: Good WOD. Good coaching. I watched 3 drop-ins use terrible technique, and they got coached up, rather than passed over simply because they are drop-ins and may never come back. This shows the passion of the coach: wanting to fix/tweak some movement, rather than let it slide. Great clock management (I'm a L2 coach, and clock management is huge in programming). Cons: Space (not going to be an issue soon), not posting the WOD the night before. I like to see the workout the night before, only because I do workouts on my own, or may visit another box and want to make sure I'm not overloading before I show up to the box. Summary: If you are in the Poipu/Koloa area, hit up this box. If you are in Lihue, make the drive to Poipu and hit up this box. You will not be disappointed. read more

I've never felt more welcomed at a gym before as a drop in. Aaron was referred to us by a close friend and he truly went out of his way to make sure we had a good experience. He is just a really good dude and as a side note, does a lot to help support the local crossfit kids community, raising money to help kids live a more healthy lifestyle. Never did crossfit in my life but decided to try it out while on vacation. I loved the class I took because of the care and attention the instructor invested in me! Its a hard workout and is controversial because of some danger factors but I felt confident and safe during the entire session. If I lived here I would probably join the gym. read more

Was at CF Poipu and got my ass kicked by Eric Botsford previously of Goodtimes Crossfit in Sacramento, CA. Eric helped me improve my snatching technique and with rope climbs. Class moved from start to finish with constant movement. Eric puts a lot of effort in to his daily workout blogs so if you get a chance take a look at there website. I will warn you he doesn't pull any punches and his Metcons are tough. He also goes through all scaled techniques too but he will work you. Highly recommend if you visit Kauai south side. read more

While vacationing in Hawaii, I wanted to get a workout in, so I googled the area gyms. Although I am an active lifter, I have only done CrossFit once. So to say the least, I was a little nervous. The gym was a short, but beautiful drive from my hotel. The gym's website allows you to preregister and pay for your class online which is super convenient. Our instructor was really friendly, and ensured that all levels of athletes were comfortable about the WOD. This was on a Saturday, so they called it an active recovery day. Burpees, air squats, sprints, and kettle bell swings. The instructor made sure to modify the workout for those that aren't CrossFit regulars. There was a cool team vibe in the gym, which I loved. The workout was half inside, half outside, so although I was working out on vacation it still very much had the island vibe. The only reason i give it 4 stars is that i would like to see them post the workout of the day online. This way, when walk ins schedule and pay for the classesC they can make sure it is something they can do. (Handstand push ups etc etc) Overall, my experience was a great one. read more

I love, love, love this event (Ultimate Hawaiian Trail Run). I participated in 2014, 2015 and I'm registered for 2016. It is my favorite event of the year. This race is 100% about the Aloha spirit, community, family, and friends. The 5k or 10k are unlike any course....EVER!!! I would need to learn the Hawaiian language to properly describe the course and my individual journey. read more

Just spent a week in Kauai for vacation and trained with Eric Botsford at Crossfit Poipu. Eric was an amazing coach giving great tips on my clean, snatch and handstand push ups.
