So my daughter started at Pillars this Monday June 1st. Her 2nd day there which was Tuesday June…read more2nd, I sent my father up there to check on her around lunch time because she had listed off a few reasons for why she didn't have a good first day there. After my father got there and spoke to my daughter, he called me and told me that a little boy had punched my daughter before they went outside to play, and then while they were outside playing the same little boy kept teasing her and chasing her and also kicked her water bottle across the playground. I was surprised to hear this because I hadn't recieved a single call from anyone at Pillars about any of this happening. So I called up there and asked to speak to someone that was aware of what had happened, and after being on hold for 5 mins a lady got on the phone and told me she qould have to call me back and before I could say anything she hung up. About 5 mins later they called back, so again I asked to soeak to someone that was dealing with my daughter being punched, teased, and her water bottle being kicked around the playground and the lady said that she had talked to my daughter's teacher and they all were aware of what took place. So I asked her why I wasn't notified about any of this happening, and her response was " we normally only notify parents of a situation if the child gets hurt"... So I asked her how would she know how bad it hurt my daughter when the little boy punched her. After she realized how stupid she sounded, she then said "oh I misspoke, I meant to say that we normally only notify parents about a situation if the child is bleeding or gets bruised"... I dont know which statement was worse, but they are both bad, and most importantly wrong. I told her that just because my daughter was not bleeding, or whether she had a bruise or not, that none of that matters and they should have called me to inform me in at least a reasonable amount of time. But according to both of her answers, I highly doubt I would've ever gotten a call from them to notify me that a boy had punched my daughter, teased her, chased her, and kicked her water bottle across the playground. At this point I was frustrated, and honestly wasn't going to keep my daughter around "adults" that were this out of touch with reality, and around people that clearly didn't really seem to care. So I told her that my daughter would not be returning ever, and then she started to get an attitude with me and then she hung up on me. So to all of the parents out there considering leaving their child under the care and supervision of The Pillars Christian Learning Center, I would advise you to seek care elsewhere if your child's safety is important to you. This all happened within 2 days of being enrolled there, I can only imagine all of the negative things that would've continued to happen if I left my daughter at that poor excuse of a Christian daycare. I would trust my dog to look after my child before I would ever trust anyone at The Pillars Christian Learning Center.

Front end staffs are always greeting you with warm and friendly smiles, and in my surprise this is the first school that the staffs / owner open the door for you in the morning and closing during peak time pick up and drop off. I appreciate how Sharon the owner are very involved with the school, and how she cares for the kids. The money you paid, are in return back to your kids. I have never spend money on bringing in tissues or sipping cups for my child... oh did I mentioned, 3 of My kids are enrolled here! From toddler to private kindergarten, all the teachers are great! Since i have experienced with my infant teacher Ms Joyce, Michelle, and Sarah. My son preschool teacher Ms Phyllis and funny Ms Z are incredibly patient. Private kindergarten Ms Renfro strict yet I love her! The curriculum are outstanding and my kids have learned so much at expressing their thoughts and feelings... well maybe a bit too much :) I couldn't be any happier! I will justify the 1 star for the fact that I believe Sabrina and Michelle are genuinely nice…read morepeople who do like children. They REALLY need to have fewer children, no infants, and refresh themselves on the current research on child development. For brevity's sake I'll just mention the biggest issues: They do not have the ability to devote the time and attention required for an infant, period. My child came home with *caked* spit up and milk on her face/clothes, and cheeks scratched from crying fits. Which means that she was being fed without being burped, and/or laid down too soon after feeding, as well as being left to cry. My daughter would be exhausted from crying, hungry and usually wet when she came home. My child rarely cries at home, but after her first day, I received texts daily that my child was crying and needed to be left to "cry it out" at home because she was crying an abnormal amount and was, according to Sabrina, manipulating her caretakers into holding her. I'm not from the "cry it out" generation, and I'm also pretty up to date on current child development research, another reason why it blows my mind that someone would think it appropriate to leave a 1.5 month old to cry. So I was bit offended at her suggesting my child was manipulative/spoiled. I also felt it was unprofessional that, when I went to pick her up, Sabrina jokingly suggested my child could "learn a thing or two" from another infant in her care who required less attention. But as a FTM, I checked myself and spoke to other moms, childcare workers, and even a friend w/a psychology background, which confirmed that it was inappropriate to employ CIO method with such a young infant. Newborns don't have the memory or cognitive capacity to consciously recognize that crying = being held, nor can they remember that the last time they cried, they were held. They simply feel a need, instinctively cry, and once that need is met, they stop. And one of their needs is touch/comfort. Some babies need it more than others, especially when they are exposed to unfamiliar people, routines and environments. I know that day care workers and even parents cannot hold their children all the time--but the narrative that an infant is just being a glutton for attention, verses perceiving a legitimate need, is just about as outdated as you can get, and less than I would expect from someone who schedules no less than 4 days off a year for "professional development." Speaking of days off, she schedules about 4 weeks off total a year, 2 of which are full straight weeks that don't fall on actual holidays. This is not including her sick days or potential bad weather days. On top of everything, she basically charges per hour--she advertises a price that only covers 8 hours. So if you work f/t, you will pay more than the price advertised. I feel bad that my daughter even spent a week there. I still remember the look in her eyes the last day I dropped her off there, it makes me sad, still. I pay only $20 more at a new daycare and receive infinitely superior care. The staff were surprised to learn she was considered "fussy" at another daycare. My baby comes home clean, happy and with a full tummy. I also receive a daily log, which provides a level of comfort and assurance sorely missing during my home day care experience at Kiddie Shack.

My child attended year ago, so I am speaking from first hand experience, however I have also had a lot of time to think about it and talk to other parents who used to have children there. The largest problem is supervision and the ages of children there. Infants are often left to play among toddlers that are several years older. Our infant often had chairs smash their hands and fingers (from older children picking up chairs and moving them around, bruises and cuts with no explanation, and consistent diaper rashes. Sabrina changes diapers on a schedule, twice a day. Not when a child needs to be changed. So if they soil themselves right after a changing, they will sit in it until the next one. At the time we were there Sabrina was assisted by her mother. Often, all the children were only supervised by one of them. This is more children than 1 person is allowed to watch by state standards. Sabrina's own child is older, but stays home and has has many needs of his own. A friend of ours once went to get his child and found a 6 month old laying on the floor by himself, completely unattended (with the door unlocked) along with his child while Sabrina was across the house yelling at her own child. It is difficult to discuss concerns with Sabrina, as she gets extremely defensive. She insist that parents call ahead of time, and gets very upset if you drop in un-announced. I found that to be unacceptable, as I should have access to my own child at anytime. I don't know how Kiddie Shack compares to other in home daycares as this experience drove me to pay a little extra and move my child to an actual school. My child has flourished there and is much happier. My child always has 2 teachers with their class of 12 at all times, there are cameras where I can log in at any time to check, and it is very telling that I have discovered FIVE(!) parents there who all used to be at Kiddie Shack and left due to the conditions. Sometimes I honestly feel guilty the my kid was in that environment. I am so much happier at our new daycare and my child has flourished so quickly that I actually go through guilt for putting my child in Kiddie Shack just to save some money. And that was really the only reason we chose them. The shock of the cost of daycare to a new family led to me to trying to save every dollar I could. Some things are worth a little money. My child is definitely one of them. Not only is my child healthier now, but my child is much smarter as the daycare schools (that seriously only cost like $20 more a month) actually have curriculums that are consistent. Do yourself a favor and at least tour a place like that after you tour Kiddie Shack. Then ask your gut how it feels.

Up until that point he was cared for by grandpa and we had very very high expectations from a daycare. We've decided to go with Cornerstone for several reasons. No complaints that we were able to find by looking at the TX state background check on the business. We have consulted with other parents and they all love the place. The caretakers have all been there for many years, are very dedicated, very warm and friendly and very good at strictly following parents' direction as well as care for the little ones. The price is competitive for the area. As for the entire facility, it is very clean, well taken care for and the staff is very friendly and eager to help. Our little one has been going here for months now and absolutely loves it. And we, as parents, are at ease knowing that he is in good hands. I highly recommend you give Cornerstone a try.

At least 50% of the staff has been there since we started taking our daughter there, so they know us, her, and our two year old son. I never have any doubts at all as to whether they're keeping the child's well-being the number one priority of their day. I have heard other's (friends and strangers) horror stories of something that happened at the child's daycare, and I have literally NEVER had a concern that wasn't addressed within minutes, NEVER had a doubt whether or not they had a careful compassionate eye on my child all day, and NEVER found any reason to think that there was anything but love for my kids while in Cornerstone's care. We're moving, and it was a hard decision to make for a couple of reasons. One was ABSOLUTELY DEFINITELY the loving, attentive care our kids received at Cornerstone for five years and eight months and whether or not we could find a facility that we could trust with our children's well-being. If you're looking in Wylie, I would look at a few other facilities and then go to Cornerstone to see what the others are missing. As a first time Mom, I did a lot of research on local schools and narrowed it down to 4 schools I wanted to tour. Miss Priscilla, Woodbridge Executive Director, gave me the tour at Woodbridge and there was no question afterwards on where I wanted my son to attend. I point this out because while I toured other schools that appeared to have good programs, I did not meet anyone like Miss Priscilla. She was kind, energetic, and made me feel like my son would be safe. Miss Becky is their Program Director and she is equally amazing. She was always there to help no matter what question I had. I ended up transferring my son to another school last month, so he can learn Spanish. It was not an easy decision to pull him out of Woodbridge. In addition to Miss Priscilla and Miss Becky, there are so many special teachers who made me feel like they really did care about my son. I could not have asked for a better school or experience for my family. I highly recommend Woodbridge!

I like that each age group of kids is taught something new and they get to play outside, and aren't just sat in front of a TV (like a few other daycares that we toured). They are always through and answer all of our questions. They also text me during the day if they have questions or need to let me know something, which I like and am very appreciative for. I also like that it is a smaller facility and the class sizes aren't maxed out. 10/10 would recommend to anyone with a child.
