This has got to be one of the best poke bowls I've had in Seattle! The poke tastes so fresh and packed with a lot of flavor. They have plenty of toppings to choose from and they give out such generous portions!! And I love their Mac salad...so creamy yet light! I do wish they had more spam musubi...it's my son's favorite and every time we come, they're out. But nonetheless, we are always so satisfied and full after eating a poke bowl from Hiroshi's! I just wish their parking situation was better. No parking in front, so you have to find street parking around the block

Poke Dondon (formerly Hiroshi's) has the BEST poke in town. As a UW student, this place has quickly become a frequented favorite of mine and my friends. The fish is fresh, the rice is cooked well, and they have so many toppings! Make sure to get a drizzle of their creamy dressing. The staff are also extremely nice. Parking can be difficult (street parking) and there is no seating.

A small poke shop that I stumbled upon while around the UW area, Poke Dondon was a great surprise! You pretty much have to take your food to-go as there's no real seating. The worker was very friendly and she was right about how good their poke is! I got their Waikiki bowl which comes with both their Hawaiian Tuna and their Lomilomi Salmon. You get to add a bunch of different toppings at no added cost (seaweed salad, edamame, ginger etc). I think each bowl also comes with mac salad and imitation crab which was great. The bowl was super packed and full. And for only $15?! That's a steal for poke. The fish was super fresh and all of the accompaniments were perfect. You cant' really ask for more when it comes to a Poke Bowl!

AMAZING! Hiroshi, or Poke Dondon, has been my go-to quick meal spot since college--and still is today. It's a locally owned poke shop by a super sweet couple who serve up incredibly delicious and generously portioned poke bowls! They offer a variety of fresh fish, including salmon, tuna, octopus, and scallops. This is a grab-and-go poke place, so don't expect a sit-down experience--there isn't one. It's the perfect meal to pick up and enjoy at a nearby park on a nice sunny day, like Green Lake or Ravenna.

Came here on a Thursday night for a dinner takeout. There does not seem to be any seating here so definitely just a to-go place. Service was quick and great. Portions here are small but taste pretty good! Would recommend for a quick poke fix near U-District!

How many times can you eat poke from the same place? How many times can you review the same place? The amount is truly unlimited when they are as good as poke Dondon. Service is always stellar fish is delish and the topping choices are also great. Plan to eat elsewhere as this is just takeout.

Fresh, generous, and no-nonsense -- Hiroshi's Poke nails it. The fish is super fresh, and you get a hefty 8oz portion, which is rare these days. Unlimited toppings mean you can pile on all your favorites without extra charges. It's a simple, no-frills spot focused on great poke. Loved seeing the owner behind the counter, personally chopping the fish. You can taste the care in every bite.

What a hidden gem! One of those hidden gems you don't want to hype up because it is too good to not keep a secret :') Good quality poke and sides. The Mac Salad in particular is bomb. The portions for the prices are marvelous - $11.99 for one Choice of Protein, $13.99 for Two, then +$2.50 for any additional. Order at the counter and take out. They make you wait behind blinders if there are other people ordering.

I can't believe I didn't know about Hiroshi's/Dondon poke until now especially cause it is in the UDistrict. The portions do not skimp out and everything was super fresh. It's also a great deal for the amount and quality of the fish you get. There was no line when I got there and I got helped very quickly. I will definitely be back as this is one of the favorite picnic foods in the spring/summer.

My go-to in the U district for poke, as they are always serving fresh, delicious fish at a very reasonable price. You also get unlimited toppings and the sauces are all super yummy as well. There is no seating inside so it's only takeout.

I would definitely come back again! It's the cutest little shop with hand-written menu items... I'm born and raised in Hawaii so this made me feel right at home. The main chef is Japanese as evident in his accent. All the staff was so sweet. They measure out all the portions so you know they're consistent and the portions were pretty good especially for the price. There are set bowls you can get or you can make your own either way they're $15 or under! They have several sides and no extra charges for them I believe. The fish was fresh! Only thing is parking is rough but as is all of Seattle.

Poke. Eating it at a nearby park.

Our poke was soooooo yummy! It was our first time going and the service was so friendly and helpful to us and made recommendations that really pulled our bowl together. You can't eat inside but the vibe of the place was friendly! Thank you. Best poke I've had yet!

Solid poke bowl with generous portions! If you get one thing here, get the original tuna poke. It was SO good - definitely some of the best tuna I've had. I'm not sure how it compares to Hawaii, but I'd assume it's something similar. The inside is quite dim and it's takeout only, but you order in a line and choose what you want to fill your bowl with. I got brown rice and spinach as the base, tuna and lomi lomi salmon, and plenty of toppings. The Japanese sauce was also quite good. I didn't think the salmon was that special and the rice was a little mushy, but all the toppings were delicious. It was quite pricey but the portions are really generous - it could definitely last me 2 meals if I wanted to save it. If you need a quick, relatively healthy, and reliable meal then this is a great spot to go to.

6 tiny pieces of cucumber - portions not what they used to be.

Had I know that it took this long, I would have just ordered everything all at once. It took over 30 mins for our first order to arrive. And we tried to order more but that took even longer. I understand that it is made to order and the cooking space (as pictured) for the skewered things are limited, but we were too hungry to wait. Come prepared to relax and eat. Food is good. We ordered only from the happy hour menu because they had a ton of good sounding options there. The yakiton came first and was really greasy and black peppery. The yakitori meat was smaller than the chicken skewers I've gotten at Southeast Asian restaurants in the Seattle area, but these ones had a softer texture like teriyaki chicken. The kalbi beef was inconsistent. One of our plates had large pieces, while the other plate was full of small pieces. The smaller kalbi was drier. The bigger kalbi was chewier. I'd stick to ordering kalbi from Korean restaurants where the meat is more tender and easier to eat. The best item we ordered was the crispy chicken wings. They really were crispy - nothing like I've had before in terms of crispiness. Next time I would try the JFC to compare. Something that I didn't like was that they put both orders of the wings on the same plate instead of splitting them up. They split up the kalbi plates, but nothing else. It was ok to combine the skewers because they're so tiny, but the wings were almost falling off the plate they were on and very close to being a bad jenga situation with how they were placed.

The uni looked darker than anything I've seen before and tasted, shall we say, a bit dry and potent. The rolls were okay, one better; the other had a bit of a fishy sub-aroma and was half left-over. Service was lackluster; the guy was a bit spaced out. The miso soup was forgotten, so was another order of sashimi. Also, we re-ordered some fatty tuna nigri but got served something horrible (like a piece of old, lean tuna instead) - here my spider sense was ringing as if we were intentially slipped some other cut ("they wont know the difference"). Or our server or the chef was slipping. Lackluster service and some fishyness gets a 3 star rating - could have been better and fresher. Not likely to return. Ambiance was middle of the road, neither loading ramp nor dark and cozy. They only have tables and counter seating, no booths. Of note, there is a bar across the street where they made a couple of nice after dinner cocktails - the better part of the evening.
