My favorite karaoke spot. I've been going for years. Their bar is cozy and the bartenders make great cocktails. Got to try their Mothers Day brunch and now it's my favorite brunch spot. The advantage of a buffet was that I was able to try a variety of dishes. Their coconut syrup was very good as well as the coconut jelly. Fave was the moco loco with kimchi. The slightly funky sour cabbage cut through the savory patty and gravy, such a tasty combination. Liliko'i mimosas were also very good. Although busy staff were very attentive.

My husband and I moved into the area almost 3 years ago. The Kona Kitchen is one of our staples! Everything they have is delicious! My go to is the mochico chicken. The crispiness and the flavor is to die for! I've ordered the teriyaki chicken several times. Although when I switch to chicken breast, get considerably less chicken than the standard dark meat teriyaki. The breakfast fare is standard, but the option of Portuguese sausage takes it to a different level! (I typically don't order breakfast here, but when I do, I would choose this or Moco loco). Delicious Hawaiian fare, on the mainland. No complaints here! Mahalo!

2 stars might be kinda harsh, but the food really wasn't that great this time. It's been years since I've been at this location (the Lynnwood location seems to be the better of the two). I got the fried rice loco moco, upgraded to chicken katsu and added grilled onions. I got it to go so I asked for the gravy on the side so it wouldn't make the katsu soggy. They put the gravy in a tiny dipping cup. For as expensive as this cost, I would hope for a better serving size on my gravy. The fried rice and katsu were virtually tasteless and the grilled onions weren't really cooked. Oh, and my overeasy egg was overcooked to an overhard. Really disappointing, especially considering they aren't all that cheap. I hope it was just a bad night. I've never had any problems with the food from the Lynnwood location.

Rainbow cake was moist, flavorful and sliced big.

We enjoyed a lovely family brunch at Kona Kitchen on a recent Sunday--my first time here. First impressions? The old-school vibe was welcoming, the place was busy, and I knew we were in for some great food (and dessert). We were greeted and seated by Jordan, who provided top-notch service. He answered all our questions, offered helpful suggestions, and checked in on us throughout our meal. You can tell customer care is a priority here. We ordered a variety of brunch dishes along with coffee: * Mochiko Chicken (4/5): tasty and well-seasoned, but we would've preferred chunkier cuts for more crunch. * Kalbi Beef (5/5): tender, flavorful, and grilled to perfection. * Da Kanak Attack! (5/5): lived up to the name--super satisfying. * Biscuits & Gravy (4/5): delicious but came with just a little gravy (we're gravy lovers, so we asked for extra). * Another breakfast plate (??) that was equally hearty. Portions were generous, and the mac salad that came with our meals was the way I like it- not too mayo-y. We couldn't resist dessert especially after a bit of encouragement from Jordan. We ordered two slices of haupia cake (a must-try!) and a slice of each of the rainbow and guava cake. The haupia was my favorite: light, coconut-y, moist, and not overly sweet. It was also my first time trying Hawaiian-style rainbow cake--fun and delicious! Kona Kitchen is a gem, especially if you're craving local-style comfort food and warm service.

Good lunch spot! My friends and I ordered two of da kanak attack and saimin. I thought the da kanak attack portions were generous! Personal standouts from da kanak attack were the teriyaki beef and macaroni salad; I thought the mochiko chicken had too much breading and not enough chicken. Service was attentive. I'll be back to order the same thing or try something new.

Let's start with Pros: Locally owned. Always a win for me. Staff seems nice and have good relations. It's a vintage spot. Food: :/... I had the traditional loco Moco. I really hate to trash small business.. but guys... come on. 1. The flavor is extremely underwhelming. The beef doesn't have any salt or pepper taste. I'm glad I ordered a side of sausage because that's what saved this dish. Can't can't really complain about eggs and rice, but for whatever reason.. this version didn't have much flavor. I've had much better. 2. Second photo shows you what I looked at mid review.. raw burger meat. I've had a long day and don't feel like driving back over. I will call tomorrow to speak with manager about a refund but.. come on. 3. I know that your business structure is set up the way that you want to run it but consider fresh ingredients.. that patty taste like a frozen patty from Walmart. --- Again, I hate to trash small business, but this was a really bad experience and I'm hoping that you guys will consider giving me a refund

Came here on a Sunday for lunch and it was wuite busy! First time here and im quite surprised to see they have Hawaiian buffet for $32.50 (?) per person. I would say it's quite a popular option here as many tables were doing it. I ordered their loco moco with fried rice (+$$) with katsu chicken (+$$). First impression, looks good smells good. I appreciate the gravy looks a little darker than most places that look quite light and bland. The fried rice is quite flavorful and savory from the chopped ham, balanced with the gravy. The katsu chicken was great and flavorful, but i find it definitely on the dry side and already cold when served. It needs a little more gravy in my opinion because of that.

I got the Banzai pipeline w/ Teri chicken. Portions are big and contains lots of rice. The chicken was tender and had good flavor. The spring rolls were ok, not super crispy. I liked the sweet and sour sauce on the side, it went well with the dish. Restaurant itself has quite a lot of seating and there was no wait time. Overall, solid Hawaiian spot in seattle with reasonable prices.

I can't compare to any other Hawaiian restaurants but Kona Kitchen was great. The Da Kanak Attack! dish gives you a taste of everything. The staff is great and the interior is unique.

This is one of my family's favorite spots for Hawaiian food. Our usual order is the spam musubi, Hawaiian fried rice with eggs over medium, Korean Chicken, chef's salad and either Mochiko chicken or the Banzai Pipeline plate with teri chicken. Since we get the fried rice, we'll sub the rice for steamed vegetables for our entrees. The food and service is consistently good here. They do get busy during dinnertime, so plan accordingly for either early arrival or plan to wait a bit. We do like to finish our meal here with a couple of slices of cake from Cakes of Paradise. Chantilly cake is my fav! There are two locations in Lynnwood and the one we gravitate towards is the original Maple Leaf spot.

Such a comfortable vibe. Hospitality was great. Food came out quickly. The omelet was fluffy and full of flavor. Just the right amount of ingredients to not make you feel overwhelmed. Hashbrowns were nice and crispy too. They should definitely add a kalua pork breakfast burrito on the menu..Just sayin'. Other than that I recommend giving this place a visit!

I've been wanting to try this place for some time now. Luckily my friend is home visiting from overseas and suggested we grab lunch here. Our server was great, he was actually talking to us about the random things we were discussing haha. Wished I grabbed his name but he mention he lives in West Seattle too and I went on a little ramble haha. I ended up ordering mochiko chicken with mac salad and my friend ordered a spam musubi and quesadilla. The portion here are huge, we both ate half and took the rest home. The food is very yummy here and quite comforting. The menu is pretty extensive. I got a slice of haupia to go and I force my friend to get one as well haha. I'll definitely be back as their hours are a better than the ones near my house.

Went with a huge party on a Sunday. It was quite busy and waited about an hour. There are plenty of options. I got the hawaiian fried rice with katsu which was a friend's recommendation and liked it! Fried rice was tasty, pork was good too but a little dry, and i think the gravy held the meal together. Would go back again to try other items on the menu.

Thankfully dine-in is back open again, so we got here on a Saturday morning around 11:20am to indoor seating that was nearly full and a small line that was forming at the front counter. Walls have a bunch of photo frames, and overall place felt very homely. They have a ton of Hawaiian style plates and even burgers and some seafood, though we and most others got the former to eat. I ordered their chicken and pork combo Hawaiian style plate, and my bestie got their chicken katsu Hawaiian style plate. Portions are huge for both plates and both also came with macaroni salad. They give you sooooo much meat no matter what you get. To go in slightly more detail: - Chicken and pork combo: both meats were flavored very well, and a little sweet too though pretty salty without using the rice as a palette cleanser. Chicken had more depth in its flavor; the pork's flavor was a little too much for my liking, and was slightly harder to chew. Both meats had some sauce hat went onto the rice itself. This didn't detract from my overall experience here, though. - Chicken katsu: we both agreed this was our favorite after exchanging pieces of each other's dish. The katsu is crispy and crunchy, and the chicken itself retained a lot of its juiciness. Katsu sauce on the side is honestly optional since the meat itself is already salty enough. This place does share extremely limited parking with Cakes of Paradise next door, so get here early or be prepared to drive around the area to find some. The woman taking our order was incredibly peppy and friendly, even while juggling everything: taking in-person orders, answering phones, serving customers, and bagging food. Seriously impressive. All the seats were filled, so we ordered everything to-go. We got the famous crispy ginger chicken, spam musubi, and chicken long rice. I was hoping for oxtail soup and asked about it--she explained they only offer it on certain days and recommended calling early in the morning to check, then getting there quickly because it sells out fast. Can't wait to come back and try it. Back at the hotel, we feasted. The crispy ginger chicken is famous for a reason--so flavorful, perfectly crispy, and somehow even better the next day. The chicken long rice was packed with noodles directly in the soup (not separately) so the broth had mostly soaked into the noodles, but it was still deeply flavorful and comforting. The spam musubi leans on the sweeter side, which is great if that's your thing. Overall, this place is all about heart, hustle, and seriously satisfying Hawaiian comfort food. Come early, expect a line, plan for parking--and you'll be rewarded.

It seems to be higher quality short grain rice, giving great mouthfeel at first, but then biting into it, the overcooked mushy qualities emerge. The rice is sprinkled with a bit of furikake, adding a briny and savory flavor profile. Two beef patties are set on top, both with seemingly fake grill marks, perhaps indicative of commercial patties. They are homogeneous with a kind of spongy texture, pressed into a puck with a bunch of filler like Japanese hambagu. The beef is somewhat tender, but isn't soft enough to be cut through with a plastic fork. There's a fried egg on top, complete with runny yolk and even a small amount of runny white. They then ladle a couple of scoops of Japanese curry over the top. It's somewhat generic, probably a normal boxed curry mix with no embellishment, but it's cooked well. It has a nice thickness, isn't too thin or runny, lending a good curry flavor to the dish. I do with it came with a bit more curry since after eating about half the dish, it was all gone. Finally, some pickled ginger on top completes the dish. The curry is quite filling, probably close to 2 pounds of food. (4/5) Musubi Kai is a convenient and quick stop for a bite while downtown.
