the entrance to amp
Laura M.

I used to live on Poke when I lived out west so I was thrilled to find Poke Guru at the new AMP 16. It's located right inside the main entrance so hard to miss. The woman behind the counter was very helpful and offered tastes of ingredients to those who wanted to try something new. I'd never had pickled mustard seeds before and they are a great addition to a poke bowl. In regards to the Poke you can order a signature bowl or build your own and they come in 2 sizes. I like to build my own and there are plenty of options. You can chose from 3 proteins, ahi tuna, salmon, or tofu and the base options are brown rice, sushi rice or mixed greens. Veggies options were plentiful as well and I love when seaweed salad is available and it was very good here. There are also several different sauces to chose from. All items are very fresh! The only thing a bit disappointing is that they don't have liquor at this location. No fault of Poke as it seems to be an AMP requirement as there is a full bar in the food court. So there are drink options available. Poke is very affordable and I received a 30% coupon this morning so I will be back soon. AMP 16 is a fun location so get out and get some Poke!

The food is EXCELLENT and flavorful! Great portion size. Wonderful staff members. Highly recommend for foodies and sushi enthusiasts!

Solid poke! I ordered the standard sized bowl for myself and it was very filling for the price. The menu was displayed and easy to follow. My two proteins were the spicy crab and marinated tuna, and both had great flavors. I think the sauces are the best part of poke bowls and they had quite the unique variety to offer. I tried the unagi sauce and the Sichuan Mayo and I really liked the combo. They were quite generous with the sauces as well. Toppings wise, I wish there were more to choose from. Customer service was pretty good. Overall, an enjoyable meal!

My second poke bowl during the AMP preview night - that citrus ponzu makes it pop!

My friend had been telling me about her favorite bubble tea spot for months, and when we finally went, I was so happy to see they also have custom poke and sushi burritos and delicious onigiri options. The inside is super cute and was very clean when we went. Service is quick and unfussy, so this would be a great option if you need to pick up a to go order, but it's also a nice spot to stop for a quick lunch break. It's cozy and quiet so could even be a good place to work or study if you're looking off the beaten path on Mass Ave. Aside from the onigiri, most of the food is totally custom and made to order, so you can really get whatever you want. You order on a paper menu like at a sushi restaurant, picking exactly what you like--and honestly, you can go wild here. For the base price of $11.50 (for burritos and bowls), you pick your base, protein, up to two sauces, and then add as many of the mix-ins and toppings as you want. A steal, imo! There are several ways to make this vegetarian (I got tofu), and it could be gluten free, too, if you're careful about sauces. I ordered my burrito and a peach black tea with aloe jelly. Now I can't stop dreaming of the tea, either. Will be back asap. This is better than LA!

I like spicy food and I was still a little taken aback by how spicy it was! But it was delicious! I loved the commitment to big flavour! My bowl was missing the wonton chips that were supposed to be included, but the salmon and tempura cream cheese sticks provided enough crunchiness that I ended up not really missing the chips. The tempura cream cheese was interesting; I'd liken it to tempura mozzarella sticks. The bowl overall was a little oily, but that may be unavoidable given what was in it. The bowl is $15 before tax. Two "scoops" of protein are included. You can add more for extra, but I thought the default two was plenty. For what I got, I think it was a fair price. I ordered using the kiosk in the food hall. It probably took about 5-10 minutes to make my order. The people there were very friendly when I picked it up!

That was my mindset when I entered The Garage Food Hall at Bottleworks. I just wanted a nourishing lunch. I found that at Poke Guru. First, I have to say: I've really done a 180 on poke bowls in the Midwest! My rule has usually been to avoid raw fish in landlocked states, but that was an ignorant mindset to have. The raw fish (at least, the raw salmon) at Poke Gurus was cold and fresh and very good. I ordered The Original, which is rice with your choice of protein (I chose salmon), plus seaweed, edamame, cucumber, avocado, green onion, Kewpie mayo and pickled red onion. It was a bowl of goodness! The salmon was marinated in soy and sesame sauce, so it was very tasty. I would probably ask for a touch less sauce next time -- I like just a whisper of sauce on my poke bowls, and this one had lots of sauce. Ordering is easy: Just make your way to the touch-screen and enter what you want, and your order is sent to the people standing a couple of feet away from you, looking at you order your food on a kiosk. The good thing is: You don't have to talk to anyone! What a time to be alive. Poke Guru is a great take-out place for introverts, or people who are all people'd-out.

The service was very helpful deciding what to order. The setting was fun down town indanopolis feel. The lobster roll was definitely the standout. It was packed with fresh, flavorful lobster and had a nice balance of buttery richness without feeling too heavy. You can tell the seafood is high quality, which makes a huge difference. The lobster deviled eggs were super unique and honestly one of my favorite bites. Creamy, slightly tangy, and topped with lobster--it's not something you see everywhere, and they executed it really well. My husband tried the shrimp burrito, which was great for a seafood spot. It was hearty, well-seasoned, and filled generously. It didn't feel like an afterthought on the menu. To finish, the cheesecake was a great choice it was from the cheesecake factory is what the offered for my birthday smooth, rich, and just the right level of sweetness with a strawberry topping to end the meal without being overwhelming. Overall, Slap's Fish Market delivers on both creativity and quality. It's a great spot if you want fresh seafood with a few fun, unexpected twists. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Not gonna lie, my work group really likes coming here when we have lunch outings. My only problem?…read moreI very much dislike seafood to any capacity. Yet, I still eat here just fine. I feel like most seafood places will have vegetarian options by way of removing the fish from pasta dishes or salad, but it's also nice to know that you can get chicken as a substitute on most of these kinds of dishes, too. Granted, it's just like chicken tenders, but still good nonetheless. I really like their firecracker pasta, which is moderately spicy in my opinion. There's no particular fishy smell here, which is always a good sign that the seafood they serve here is freshly prepared. Our food always comes out quickly for lunch and we've been a group as large as 8 or 9. I do believe that ordering is mostly done online in their mass Ave location, though. I don't really seek out a place like Slapfish on my own (no offense at all, just not a seafood girlie!!), but I would assume that it's a rather popular establishment as they recently opened a fifth location in the greater Indy area. If I did like fish and such more, I'd probably be here on a more regular rotation.
