After a busy morning shopping for wedding dresses for my sister, our group of 4 wanted a healthy lunch even though it was already 2:30pm. My sister, who is local, doordashes this place all the time and highly recommended it. I got half sushi rice and salad with most of the free toppings and half salmon/half tuna as well as a Gatorade. My bowl was yummy although the pineapple tasted weird and my ginger sauce barely had any taste. The fish was very good and the toppings were all fresh. For four bowls and four bottled drinks, our total came to about $65. A bit pricey for a late lunch but my sister might have found "the dress " so I guess it was worth it haha! It is also in walking distance to the hotel we stayed at, Ironworks Hotel. There's plenty of parking and plenty of seating as well. Music was not too loud and the space is kept clean. I can't speak to the poke bowls, because I didn't get one. I was on a mission to find a Japanese marble soda called Ramune, and I had heard that this Hawaiian restaurant had 'em. Holy humuhumunukunukuapua'a! Did they ever. Poke Bros had several flavors of Ramune, but I was only interested in melon, so I grabbed two. If you, too, are looking for Ramune, they are located in a self-serve refrigerator by the counter, on the bottom shelf. Some day, I will be back to try the poke bowls. Poke Bros is set up Chipotle-style, where you tell them what you want and they put it in a bowl. This isn't my favorite kind of setup, because most of the time, I don't want to think about what might taste good together. I do enough thinking all day. I just want to say, "Give me the blahblahblah," and out comes something that tastes delicious that I didn't have to think about. I think they were one of the first places to offer Hawaiian/sushi bowls and it continues to be one of my favorites. With the Subway style of preparation, the combinations are truly endless. There's chicken, shrimp, a couple flavors of salmon as well as a couple flavors of tuna. So make as many or as little choices as your little heart desires! They have premade bowls or you can create your own. Be careful with this option as costs can add up quickly when choosing the premium toppings (masago, avocado , crab meat, etc). My go-to is the Duke bowl. It's comes with a trio of protein including: shrimp, salmon and tuna. It's delicious. Be careful as they don't keep their price board updated. So you might be slightly surprised at checkout. It's not expensive, but if it's a couple dollars more than what you think- don't be surprised. Great spot for a small group, or a casual date; as the dining room isn't very big. One of my go-to's when I'm on the north side of Indy. My friend treated me to lunch the other day, and it was amazing! When you walk in, you are able to look at the menu and decide if you want a build your own, or one of their custom made bowls... I always do the build your own, because I like salad and lettuce only... And I get both types of lettuce, crab, ginger, marinated, tuna, seaweed, salad, edamame, and mango!! My taste buds are screaming happy in the cherry on top is that it's healthy! At the end, I normally get crunchy onions, and I get the sweet, soy and Mayo, type of dressing. This place is cool and has a friendly website to order online although there's a very short list of pre designed pokes the optioned given to make your own makes it great. If you register ahead and make your first order they will give you a discount. Mine was spicy tuna, spicy salmon, sushi rice, crunchy onions, seaweed salad, carrots, jalapenos and a unique wasabi aioli. This came in a huge bowl and was just exquisite. My favorites are the Johnny Utah which includes Salmon, Avocado, Edamame, Cucumber, Masago, OG Sauce, Sriracha Aioli. The High tide which includes Chicken, Shrimp, Edamame, Carrots, Pineapple, Green Onion, Avocado, Corn, Cucumber, Sriracha Aioli, Sweet Soy, and OG Sauce. and my favorite bowl the Hula which includes, Shrimp, Green Onion, Cucumber, Crab Stick, Avocado, Masago, OG Sauce, Sriracha Aioli, and Coconut Ginger. You can also make your own bowl and mix up the bases. The options are really endless. Service has always been very fast and friendly when I go in, but they also have the option to order online, which has been great since I am always on the run. Their space is small, but the flavor, variety of ingredients, freshness and portions are BIG! As sushi lovers, we were excited to try this Hawaiian "sushi in a bowl" dish. The menu has several Poke combination suggestions, but really you can add/subtract anything you'd like along the way in a fast casual Chipotle-esque style. I tried a build your own bowl with sushi rice, marinated tuna, shrimp, and assorted veggies and three of their signature sauces including the spicy-sweet wasabi aioli. Ask for any of the sauces on the side, if you want to test them out! If you're looking for low-carb, high protein (like my boyfriend) you can opt for salad greens instead of rice and then pile on the toppings! For those not interested in raw fish, there's a chicken/spicy chicken option too. No matter what the combination, the end result was delicious and fresh, service was prompt and friendly, and I can tell this will be a summer staple for us. I got a custom bowl and loaded it up. If you load it up without regard for the price (guilty), you can drop a little more coin than you might expect for a counter-service meal, but in the end, it was well worth it in that moment.
