I recently tried Slap's Fish Market and sampled a little bit of everything--lobster roll, burrito, cheesecake, and their lobster deviled eggs--and overall it was a really memorable experience. The service was very helpful deciding what to order. The setting was fun down town indanopolis feel. The lobster roll was definitely the standout. It was packed with fresh, flavorful lobster and had a nice balance of buttery richness without feeling too heavy. You can tell the seafood is high quality, which makes a huge difference. The lobster deviled eggs were super unique and honestly one of my favorite bites. Creamy, slightly tangy, and topped with lobster--it's not something you see everywhere, and they executed it really well. My husband tried the shrimp burrito, which was great for a seafood spot. It was hearty, well-seasoned, and filled generously. It didn't feel like an afterthought on the menu. To finish, the cheesecake was a great choice it was from the cheesecake factory is what the offered for my birthday smooth, rich, and just the right level of sweetness with a strawberry topping to end the meal without being overwhelming. Overall, Slap's Fish Market delivers on both creativity and quality. It's a great spot if you want fresh seafood with a few fun, unexpected twists. Not gonna lie, my work group really likes coming here when we have lunch outings. My only problem? I very much dislike seafood to any capacity. Yet, I still eat here just fine. I feel like most seafood places will have vegetarian options by way of removing the fish from pasta dishes or salad, but it's also nice to know that you can get chicken as a substitute on most of these kinds of dishes, too. Granted, it's just like chicken tenders, but still good nonetheless. I really like their firecracker pasta, which is moderately spicy in my opinion. There's no particular fishy smell here, which is always a good sign that the seafood they serve here is freshly prepared. Our food always comes out quickly for lunch and we've been a group as large as 8 or 9. I do believe that ordering is mostly done online in their mass Ave location, though. I don't really seek out a place like Slapfish on my own (no offense at all, just not a seafood girlie!!), but I would assume that it's a rather popular establishment as they recently opened a fifth location in the greater Indy area. If I did like fish and such more, I'd probably be here on a more regular rotation. read more

Finally had a chance to try the restaurant that was recommended by so many people, and it did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in (just after opening on a Sunday), we received a friendly greeting and music to make our toes tap. We received menus and took a seat to think through the options. After some back and forth, I ordered the sandwich that prompted the visit - the lobster roll. I opted for the "simple salad" as my side. My husband ordered the fish and chips, which also came with coleslaw. Our food arrived quickly and looked delicious. The lobster on the lobster roll was very buttery (yum!) and tender. The salad had mixed lettuces (nice and crisp), carrots, radishes, cucumber, tomatoes, and a delicious house-made vinaigrette. My husband enjoyed his fish and chips. He also said the slaw was delicious. I snuck a fry and it was crisp outside and fluffy inside. They mentioned that they also have a whole line of house-made sauces. I just had to look Slapfish up after it was recommended to me by the hotel receptionist at the hotel I stayed at while in the city of Indianapolis. I was pleased to find that it was only .2 miles in distance from the hotel. And its 4.7 star rating out of 1,500+ on Uber Eats was the assurance I needed that I would have a quality experience next to the recommendation by the receptionist. Looking through the menu, I took interest in items like the lobster deviled eggs, clobster grilled cheese, fish 'n chips, lobster tots, reel fish sandwich, grilled fish bowl, slapfish burger, grilled cheese, and the mac n cheese. Out of all that caught my eye on their extensive menu, I ended up ordering their grilled fish bowl because of what it consisted of. Whether it be Grubhub or Uber Eats, I love ordering online because it is convenient. Most of the time my orders are completed upon my arrival or near complete. By the time I arrived at Slapfish my order was waiting behind the counter during this ordering experience. Picking up was just confirming my name, order, and I was well on my way back to my hotel. I am grateful to have had a smooth online ordering experience because the likelihood of me ordering online again is very high. "Noooo!" After opening the brown paper bag with my grilled fish bowl inside, I received everything I had ordered, except utensils, but thankfully I was able to retrieve utensils from the hotel I stayed at. Now the rice was the first thing my tastebuds tasted! The rice was seasoned with herb rice sauce, hand-picked lettuce, and honey lime vinaigrette which gave it a taste that I just could not get enough of. And once I paired it with the fried cod, I was on cloud 9 and in love with this meal. I highly recommend the grilled fish bowl if you are looking for a pescatarian option that will surely leave you satisfied taste wise. In closing, I had a great ordering experience as I have indicated in this review of Slapfish. We came here on a Friday early evening and were able to be seated right away (the host let us pick where we wanted to sit as well). We were given the menus and advised we could go to the counter to order or order via the QR code and ToastTab. We went with the phone option and it worked perfectly. We ordered the Lobster Deviled Eggs and they were amazing - I'd come back just for that single item!!! For entrees, we got the Oyster Roll and the Hawaiian Bowl. I loved mine and my husband thought his was fantastic too. We wrapped it up with the Key Lime pie. He loved it but I thought it was ok. He suggested a couple of options that we ordered and really enjoyed. We shared the lobster deviled eggs. Really interesting presentation and very delicious. We also had the lobster tots. Similar to a hush puppy with a slightly spicy Sauce. We also shared the shrimp roll with fries and coleslaw. The worker suggested that we get the fried version and he was not wrong. Tons of shrimp with a buttery roll, crispy fries, and their coleslaw is quite good. Not the cheapest meal you'll have, but the portion sizes are good as this was plenty for the two of us to share. Parking is a challenge as you have to pay during the week to park on the street or pay for parking in the lot next door. It has a nice casual ambience. You take a menu but you go to the counter to order. If busy you can log on through a bar code and place your order. The fish and chips are what you'd expect. The Cole slaw is also what you'd expect. The lobster grinder was a treat with a bit of heat. Not unpleasant. I loved the mix as well as the buttery roll. I would order it again and again. Started with shrimp ceviche, taste was great but serving size was small. Clobster was our 2nd starter and enjoyed it as well, serving size was good. Our main were the traditional lobster roll and lobster boil. The former, you just can't go wrong, the bread is amazing and it was very filling. Latter was also great, lobster meat was already extracted so you don't have to crack and break the shell (but that's the fun part). Food was hit and miss. They're chowder fried are bomb 8.5/10. The Sweet potato fries were some of the best so far in indy 9/10. The burgers both surf and normal were slacking and tops 6/10 not worth it at all. The lobster roll was decent but wouldn't get it again from this place, they skim on the lobster compared to others priced the same but still was a solid 8 in flavor. However I got a good amount in the grill cheese which was amazing 9/10 flavor bomb just like the Mac cheese but the Mac had two bits of lobster which again tasted good but not good enough to match the price they sold it at so it's pass next time for us on the Mac value. Overall there were things worth it to go back and get and some never again and some maybe if we are craving must haves. I have to admit. I was somewhat hesitant coming here. Growing up on the southeast coast, I've had my share of fresh seafood and fish. It's hard for me to pass up peel-n-eat and a blackened grouper sandwich, but this in Indianapolis, not Savannah, Ga. I will say, Slapfish did not disappoint in any way. Even though the shrimp were chilled, they were really good. Tasty with a nice snap to them. Just the way they're supposed to be. And the blackened grouper Sammy - again, just like the shrimp - how it should be. Really, really good. Not too salty, fresh and tasty with the Jersey sauce. Yum! I ordered to have delivered about 3 days ago. The tuna steak (app) was good, fries and coleslaw. The "fish-n-chips" was just awful. The fish was very poor quality and it was cooked WAY too long. Inside, Slapfish has a very nice ambiance. I ordered food at the bar. They have two sides to the restaurant. The oppose side appears to be more family friendly, while the side with the bar would be perfect for date night or a night out with the girls. I ordered the lobster roll with a side salad and cup of clam chowder for myself, and my son had the fried grouper sandwich with a side of fries. I've had Slapfish before and everything was super fresh, but this time, the roll was on the hard side, but the lobster was plentiful. The clam chowder was good as well. The salad dressing that came on the side reminded me of poppyseed dressing. My son's sandwich looked decent, but the fries didn't seem to be fresh. Had a great time! So the inside was different than I thought, you order at the counter and then they bring your food out to you. They do have a button at the table in case you need anything which I SO appreciate and wish all restaurants did this! Everybody was nice and service was quick! The bathrooms were clean when we went. We ordered the fish sandwich and tacos and also got the linguine dish and instead of the shrimp subbed with salmon and it was perfect for it! So of course, I had to try it! The restaurant is modern and trendy with greenery and neon lights with a great vibes. The menu is big with many options (that made it hard to choose!). I had the traditional lobster roll, hands down my favorite I've had (even over the ones I had in Boston!). It was perfectly toasted, warm, and tossed in lemon, butter and mayo! I chose a side of fries, which were also very tasty! My coworker ordered the grilled blackened group and agreed that it was some of the best grouper she's had!
