This place is SO good! I can't believe I never tired it before. I lived by one in fishers and never visited but lived to Carmel close enough to walk to this one. It's so good!! I always get a small size and it's always enough for me. It comes with one scoop of a protein of your choice and as many toppings as you'd like. I get sushi rice but there's also a brown rice or salad option as well. The fish to put on top has been so good. I go between marinated or sashimi style. Other toppings like vegetables and sauces are also great in the bowl. Very fresh. I highly recommend if you want to try something different and like sushi (or crave something like it). The service was just okay. The lady behind the counter wasn't too helpful or friendly when it came to helping my mom who was there for the first time. Each time I go in she seems to rush me although there's no one else in the store when I usually go in. Maybe fast is just her personality- I'm not too sure. The interior decor was also nice. This is the Ali'i Poke location closest to my home, and it is excellent. The ingredients are always absolutely fresh, and there are so many options and combinations that I can eat here frequently and never get tired of it. The customer service here is always outstanding. Friendly, helpful, and patient as they answer questions and describe ingredients and options to first time customers. I LOVE the Spicy Kani. I've tried the other proteins but I always get some Spicy Kani. All my favorite ingredients are here: edamame, scallions, pickled ginger, pineapple, red onions, crispy onions, watermelon radish, and mango to name a few. The sauces range from mild to spicy. My favorites are honey wasabi and sesame shoyu, but I have tried most at one time or another. I usually build my own bowl but you can also order a signature bowl too. I can't believe this location has been here for as long as it has without me having discovered it first. It is a bright and cheery space, with entrances on either end of the building. The staff are very welcoming and are great to chat with. I typically get the smaller bowl and even though it visually looks like it wouldn't be filling, trust me it is! I'd love to follow their premade suggestions because the amount of toppings to pick from is overwhelming! They all are visually appealing and very fresh. And the sauces on top make it even better. I was greeted with a warm aloha as soon as I open the door. I knew the food would be good from the customer service alone. I got a full rundown of the menu and what I could add to my bowl as well as a taste test of the tuna I was skeptical because I had never had raw fish before and I'm a texture person, but I was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful and delicious the fish was Although I did enjoy the taste test. I still went ahead and chose a cooked protein for my bowl. I went with the Pele poke option, which is the spicy premade bowl option great decision. I also paired it with one of the Hawaiian drinks that was offered in the fridge behind the register after I demolished the bowl I went ahead and try the classic dessert and the creaminess of the vanilla ice cream and just the tart and like sweetness of the mango just brought everything together nicely. There's a back and front entrance. I went for the Hawaiian ice and was so pleased! I ordered the Hawaiian Dream. Of the three poke places near me, Ali'I is my fave. I love the 3 sizes, that I can get either a small or medium depending on my appetite. Novel too are the 3 bases of sushi rice, brown rice or salad. I've recently had to adopt a pretty wacky, extreme diet for health purposes. So I build-my-own bowl, and there are just enough "approved" toppings to make a fun and varied poke bowl and still be compliant. But it's neat that they offer specialty bowls for those who want some traditional, tried-and-true flavor experiences. I appreciate that the ingredients are super fresh. I won't tell you why that's so important to me other than how another local poke place has left me spending more time in a certain room of my house than I wanted to spend, more times than I care to remember. And can we talk about the Ali'I lemonade? It's made with fresh lemons every morning and is out of this world! read more

I've tried Ali'i Poke as a part of a Yelp event a year ago and the flavors were great. So I waked in for a quick dinner, and one looks the space is so so clean and smells so fresh too. I ordered the spicy poke bowl and the flavors didn't disappoint. There was heat, but not so overpowering to make it too spicy. The entire order took less than 3 minutes which is what I love about quick food these days. Service was so good and I love Aloha as the first greeting. I knocked off a star cause I got a dollop of wasabi right in the middle of my poke bowl. Now I didn't know this and it definitely wasn't a good moment tasing such a sharp flavor in one bite. Two, I am not much of a rice eater and I didn't have the option of at least doubling up my veggies. I get the concept of raw, fresh tuna and I do love the premium add ons that go with it. While I did enjoy the Yelp Elite benefit of receiving a free poke bowl and shaved ice, I also purchased another poke bowl for my daughter. This was a first time experience for us both, with poke, and we are now big fans. First of all, customer service was impeccable. We were taking our lunch to eat at the park, and my grandbabies had fallen asleep. So my daughter went in first, so she could tell me what she wanted. The first words out of her mouth, upon returning to the car, was, "I am SO excited about this now! It looks so good and they are SOOO sweet." She had been apprehensive at the idea of poke bowls at first. Their selection is so fresh and they explain things so perfectly, the intimidation factor just disappeared. I've been interested in trying poke bowls for some time, but hadn't because I wasn't sure what choices to make to put together a tasty bowl. I love that they have the option of choosing from a handful of bowl types. Then you only need choose the base type and protein. My daughter and I both chose the Ali'i Poke House without ginger. I opted for a mixed base of sushi rice and spring salad with ahi tuna, and my daughter just chose sushi rice and salmon sashimi. We both had the small sized bowls and were completely satisfied. My granddaughter enjoyed more of the Strawberry Shaved Ice than we did, only because we just didn't have much room for anything else after our poke bowls. We all agreed it's absolutely delicious. I would stop in here just for this treat. I was thrilled to hear they have other locations that are closer to my home. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and they are happy to discuss options for the different bowls they offer. There are free samples if you want to try something before you order it. I'm new to poke and was absolutely blown away by Ali'i (pronounced allee-ee). Owner Jasmine is so friendly, outgoing, and invested in the business. It shows too. They just opened this Carmel location, but also have a downtown and Fishers location too. All of the locations have a full five-star rating and the downtown one was even named one of Yelp's Top 100 restaurants in the COUNTRY. Ali'i is fast-casual, and you get to build your own bowl. You'll choose your bowl size, then choose sushi rice, brown rice or lettuce as the base. You'll then choose a protein: ahi tuna, sashimi salmon, tako (octopus), spicy kani, shrimp (cooked), or tofu. You can then select your toppings. They're all soooooo fresh and colorful, and I love that they have four signature topping combinations if you don't want to pick your own. I always get the Ali'i Poke (House Version) toppings. It includes edamame, cucumber, pickled ginger. seaweed salad, watermelon radish, avocado, unagi sauce, and creamy miso sauce. It's all soooooooo good. The small bowl is enough for an entire meal for me. I got the regular size last time and was STUFFED. Lastly, don't miss the authentic shaved ice here. This is the first location to have it and it's soooooooo good. It's a scoop of ice cream, shaved ice around it, then natural flavors or toppings of your choice. I ordered the Uji Kintoki shaved ice. It has matcha syrup, azuki (red) beans, mochi, snocap, and matcha powder. The traditional Japanese flavors were amazing. You can also choose fruit, chocolate, or candy flavoring and toppings. The staff have been super friendly both times and the interior is very cheery. There are plenty of booths and tables to enjoy your food inside and it's also easy to take it to-go, as the food is served in to-go bowls anyways. My husband and I got engaged in Hawaii (Oahu) on Valentine's Day oh so many years ago, so our "thing" is to get something Hawaiian to eat each year on February 14. Ali'i Poke just opened in our area, so we decided to treat ourselves and our kids to some Hawaiian shave ice after dinner. But Ali'i Poke doesn't just have shave ice -- they also have huge shave ice sundaes, so of course we had to get a couple of those, too. It was a special day, after all. We got a strawberry shave ice sundae, which had vanilla ice cream in the middle of a huge mound of shave ice, covered with strawberry syrup, sliced strawberries, graham cracker crumbs and whipped cream. This thing was huge and tasty. We also got a hot chocolate shave ice sundae, which has chocolate ice cream surrounded by a mound of shave ice, covered in chocolate syrup, with whipped cream and cookie crumbs on top. Again, huge and tasty. I'm sensing a theme here! I had never had chocolate-flavored shave ice before, so that was a new experience for me. It tasted like a frozen hot chocolate. They also have make-your-own shave ice on the menu, if you want something more traditional. You can get your shave ice with ice cream, or go the Hawaiian route and get sweetened condensed milk on top. Or just rock your shave ice plain and dairy-free. There are lots of choices here. One of my children wanted a shave ice with just mango and strawberry syrup, with Nerd candy sprinkled on top. You can do you. I guess they also sell food here! Had marinated salmon Ali'i house bowl.  Never had watermelon radish until now- nice crunch and perfect acidic addition to the creamy miso and smooth avocado (edamame, cucumber, seaweed salad and unagi sauce also accompany this house bowl).   My daughter ordered a plainer bowl (she's a purist! haha) sushi rice and cooked shrimp, she gave it a thumbs up! My boyfriend ordered Pele Poke with tuna and felt the spice level was perfect. Fresh taste, perfect proportions accompanied by friendly employees, clean accommodations, and did I mention the shave ice?  What a pleasant surprise! I had the Hawaiian classic with pineapples and mango with vanilla ice cream. My daughter had the strawberry with vanilla ice cream.  We weren't expecting shaved ice to have such a smooth ice-cream consistency!  I'm already imagining having this on a hot summer day!  Can't wait to come back to Ali'i.  I'm looking forward to enjoying a "create my own" version of a poke bowl and dreaming of another shaved ice. read more

I searched this place out after returning from my trip to Hawaii. I was looking for some authentic Hawaiian shave ice (not that mainland sno cone crap). Ali'i Poke did not disappoint. Their shave ice was delicious and just how I remembered it in Hawaii. The best part is the snow cap (condensed milk), it makes the shave ice more creamy! I love a good Poke bowl...it gives me my sushi fix without being too heavy on the rice!! Ali'i Poke is new in Carmel and easy to find as it is located on Old Meridian road across the street from Meijer. I came here for a Yelp event but ended grabbing an extra bowl from my daughter who knew would start eyeing my beautiful bowl...I figured I'll save myself the struggle and bring her her own! They have such a great selection of fresh fish and seafood for your bowl and being able to pick from brown or white rice or spring mix salad was a nice addition to their great protein choices. Poke Virgin. Really wasn't sure what to expect. Reading on-line Poke was described as deconstructed sushi. I ordered the Small Bowl with Sushi Rice and Spicy Kani ( Krab ) and had them do it up Ali'i Poke House Style ( Edamame, cucumber, pickles ginger, seaweed salad, watermelon radish, unagi sauce, creamy miso sauce). I had them leave off the avocado. It was really good! It really was like eating a California Roll but on a fork. A small bowl is really a good sized lunch. I also got a bottle ofvGreeb Tea and bowl of Miso Soup. The soup was ok, but I don't think I'd get it again. It would be better if the tofu were firm instead of squishy. But on a really cold day it would warm you up. They have five signature Hawaiian Ice Bowls. I got the Ali'i Classic with Pineapple, Mango and Vanilla Ice Cream. It was so good I got brain freeze more than once eating it. I can see coming back for the Poke and my husband could get the Frozen Hot Cocoa Hawaiian Ice. I do have a one suggestion. First - full disclosure - I was her as part of a Yelp Elite event, but we also bought a crap ton of extra stuff on top of our free poke bowl and shaved ice. I love everything about this place. It is bright and clean, inviting, and the staff is really welcoming and kind. The poke fish was very fresh. I ordered the marinated salmon and spicy tuna and both were delicious and cut into perfectly sized pieces. There were ample options for veggies and sauce. I also appreciated the many CRUNCH options like fried onions and scallions. Their soda selection is neat. There are several Hawaiian juices/sodas to try. Fair warning, they are really sweet. Friendliest most accommodating folks imaginable. I ventured in from the back of the building and as I made my way to the front I was greeted with a loud and cheerful ALOHA. The decor here is cheerful and bright with quite a bit of seating available. Pictures invoke the Hawaiian feel and the Hawaiian music softly playing in the background also contributes to the vibe. I have had their poke bowls at other locations before, and this has the same quality and choices that we are used to and love. Bowls come in 3 sizes and you also have 3 choices for your base, but they will let you mix and match. I generally opt for the sushi rice and greens. Depending on the size of your bowl you get to choose 1 -3 proteins... All equally delicious. My favorite is the spicy tuna or the crab. Follow this with your toppings, sauces, and dry toppings and you got yourself a nice fresh healthy meal. If I am trying out new proteins I often ask what sauces the staff would recommend with what I have in my bowl already and they have never stirred me wrong yet. If you cannot decide, they have signature bowls available with some of their most popular combinations. What was new to me was the shaved ice. I was given the choice of their signature combinations, which turned out to be huge as well as delicious. So many choices. I went with the classic, which is a scoop of vanilla ice cream, covered with shaved ice, flavored with mango and pineapple syrups and fresh mango as well as pineapple all along the sides of the dish. Heavenly. I was never that into shaved ice, but this is the best freakin' shaved ice I have ever had in my life. The shaved ice you get at the fairs cannot compare... ever.
