I've been going here since they opened and still love the poke bowls here!i love that I can order a regular bowl (3 scoops of protein), share, and still get soo full. They are not stenchy with the toppings at all! I mixed the creamy miso, truffle ponzu, and shoyu together. Good flavor. My 2 year old son loved it here as well! There have been a few changes inside. This is usually the first stop of our Reno getaways and sometimes the last stop. My son likes to get one for the drive back home. It is the best poke bowl we've had and I am not comparing it to Poke in Hawaii so don't get it twisted. They have a variety of proteins, toppings, mix ins, sauces that you won't find at other shops and they even have wonton chips if you want a nacho style bowl. This place does not skimp on the portions either as you can see from the picture. You even get 2 scoops of the crab mix with every bowl. I believe they only charge extra for avocado and extra scoops of crab and fish. My order changes every time and I've never had one I didn't enjoy. This bowl had Yellow Tail, Spicy Tuna, Salmon, Scallops and Octopus with the House Sauce mixed in, spicy crab, onions, jalapeño, cucumber, seaweed salad, wasabi, ginger, tobiko with all the crunchy toppings and Mango Habanero sauce on top. I have been to this location before and have always enjoyed my service. I came in tonight looking for a quick meal after hitting the gym. I was greeted kindly and with a smile. They have now put in a mini freezer with single serve mochi and something that looks like an ice cream sandwich. When I commented on it, the gentleman behind the counter told me about the sweet treats and I ended up purchasing one for my fiancé. Ordering was extremely easy, though I had to reiterate a couple times the different items that I wanted in my Poké bowl. The gal working with him was also very kind. She came to the counter, complemented my jacket, and we had a short conversation before I left. I was very pleased with my service and the fact they didn't seem irritated that I came in 30 minutes before closing. Upon arrival at home, I feasted on my Poké bowl. Per usual, everything tasted fresh and delicious. I had ordered the greens as my base. I don't know if they typically wash them in store before adding them to a bowl, but the guy behind the counter had pulled the greens out of the plastic tub prior to sticking them into my bowl. Not anything I was super worried about, just figured I would mention it. The only thing that was concerning was finding a fish bone in my Poké bowl, but there was only one and it's really not a big deal. Just be on the lookout in case :-) Overall, a pleasant experience and I'm very happy with my meal. I wish I could find their nutrition facts online. I'm on a weight loss journey and being able to count those calories would help a lot. read more

This isn't my usual location for Poke, but was in the neighborhood and had a craving! Staff were friendly and service was overall great. The prices are absolutely fantastic for what you get - I always end up feeling satisfied and rarely over stuffed (unless I ordered a large which is rare). The ahi was fresh and delicious as well as the crab salad and other ingredients in my bowl. I love that I can opt for two starches - I usually order rice and the wonton chips. The house sauce adds the perfect amount of spice to my bowl. I ordered to go, however the restaurant has plenty of seating if you choose to dine in. read more

I stopped by for a poke bowl with my son earlier this week and unlike the previous visit; The gentleman working that made my bowl forgot two ingredients I asked for in my bowl. It made a huge difference in the taste. If I didn't order to go, I would have asked that he fixed it. With the rising prices; it's extremely disappointing. I was only a few bites in and it was more rice than anything. $5 more and I should have just gone to all you can eat sushi. It's a true bummer, but my son wanted a bottled drink and $7 for it was asking too much. It might be a year before my next visit. It's back to Sparks for me for my next craving. It's taken me too long to try this place for sure. I wasn't sure what to think about an express style establishment with raw fish, but I was impressed. Everything was fresh. I read a few reviews before going and am glad I followed Michael's advice to have them mix different proteins with different sauces. One sauce would have been too overpowering for me. My favorite sauce was the wasabi one. The portions are huge. There's no way I could finish this myself. I may try to split this with a buddy next time. I did half rice and half wonton chips. It was thoughtful of them to put the wonton chips in their own container so they didn't get mushy on the way home. I only gave 4 stars because I wouldn't recommend dining in. The lights were flickering and didn't seem like a great environment overall. It seems like their business model is aimed more at "to-go" given they serve everything in disposable boxes. I'm glad there's an option to dine in, but I'd probably only do it if I lived far away. read more

The is my favorite poke bowl in Reno I did make some changes to the order. I think that in general there was way too much rice. Instead I get a large bowl and ask for the amount of rice that goes into the small bowl. This is a good ratio of rice to fish for me. Also I did not really care for the spicy tuna or spicy salmon. I think that the fish was too overworked and tasted shredded. Now that we have the parts that I don't like lets get to the reason that I gave it five stars. The fish quality. The fresh salmon, ahi and yellow tail were great! Some of the freshest that I have had at a poke bowl place. If I am in the mood for spicy then rather than getting the pre made spicy fish I simply get the fresh fish and add the dynamite sauce on top. The house sauce is a combo of several sauces and that is my other favorite. Toppings galore! I always opt for tobico. The pink was better than the red. I think if you are willing to pay for a large bowl with less rice then you get an outstanding quality. I will definitely be back. read more

The portion sizes are comparable to the pricing, all the toppings are free with the exception of avocado, and you can really load everything on there. How have I lived in NW Reno and never been here until now?! It has become a dangerous discovery because now I figure I'll be coming here semi regularly! I'm doing no-meat Fridays for Lent, so this was the perfect place to come today. The outside looks average, it's part of a strip mall with a big shared parking lot. The inside is actually very well-decorated with many cute touches that give it a fun vibe. For someone who likes poke but doesn't eat it very often, the create your own bowl concept was pretty overwhelming at first. It would be nice if they had some premade combo options for indecisive people like me! Luckily, the staff member working was incredibly helpful, giving me great explanations and recommendations. I went with a mix of white rice and greens for the base, spicy tuna and salmon for protein, the house sauce and spicy mayo for sauces, plus tons of toppings! The regular size bowl was plenty for me but they even have a large option. Everything was delicious and tasted so fresh. I felt full and very satisfied after! An easy, healthy, and quick dinner. THE PORTIONS!! I am never disappointed with Poke King. They give you so much protein and stack the whole box up with everything. Two scoops of crab salad are apart of the toppings and don't cost extra (unless you want more than two). Kinda pricey at about $17 but it is very similar to all poke places here in Reno. It's five minutes from my house so I have been...often, let's say I like to order online for delivery or pickup - pickup is an especially great option during covid because they make the food and leave it in a (clearly labeled) bag on a table near the front door, which means minimal exposure to the place or people. It's always clean and there are great murals, I love the big ol octopus. If I don't order ahead, I still haven't had to wait long, and the staff are good at what they do. The regular bowl is heavy!
