    Build your own bowls

Stopped by for dinner. It was pretty busy in the small shop. Tight area, no indoor seating. When the weather is nice there are chairs/tables outside. We ordered the build your own bowl. Servings are generous. All the sauces and toppings were phenomenal. Tuna tasted fresh. They also have fun drink options Recommend this place. I will be coming back.

This review is strictly for Hinoki Omakase, but I'll leave it here since I can't find a separate page for that experience. We treated ourselves to Hinoki O for our wedding anniversary dinner late last Fall. This was truly a legendary meal. We will be hard pressed to top this experience. We ended up being the only booking that night, which lent an undeservedly private feel to it! We indulged in the standard + waygu option, and each bite was more luxurious that the one before it. Showstoppingly beautiful & melt in your mouth delicious, the entire meal for a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds. We opted in for a sake pairing, and that was delightful as well! Each expertly curated sip matched & complemented the course. Our host & chefs were attentive, personable & knowledgeable guides that brought us along on a culinary journey. If you are a fan of impeccably fresh fish & enjoy the pleasant surprise of not knowing what you may be served, the Hinoki Omakase adventure might be for you! It's worth it to mention that it is a spendy meal, and available by reservation only, but its a unique, highly skilled and indulgent dining experience we're lucky to have in Reno.

This review is for Hinoki Omakase. They also do a hand roll bar Tuesday through Thursday that I don't think many people know about. It is divine. While most sushi options in Reno are AYCE, the hand roll bar uses more premium fish and has different combos based on how many hand rolls you want. The service is equally as stellar as it is for the omakase nights. The vibe here is wonderful, everything is clean and nice with decor that really puts you in the mood for sushi. If you get a chance to swing by the hand roll bar, you won't regret it!

It was quite the amazing experience. Everything was done very carefully and intentionally. It's a very intimate dinner as there's only a seating for 8 people. I've been to Japan and dang, this is the best sushi I've ever had. You get to try real wagyu beef - like the ones they listens to jazz, drink beer and get massaged for 10-13 years. Wow, just wow! They fly the fish from Japan here. You get REAL wasabi. Their menu changes every 4-6 weeks. Please note you'll probably want to do the premium version of this Omakase dinner as it would be sad if you were there for your birthday dinner and others were getting dishes you weren't. Also, they won't do anything special for your birthday, you are just recognized.

Some friends recommended this place, so I finally decided to give it a try. Ever since I discovered poke, I've been obsessed! The spot is small, but they have a few tables inside and outside where you can sit and enjoy your food. The prices are reasonable, and while the experience wasn't perfect, it wasn't bad either. I say that because the person who helped me didn't really understand or hear what I was saying I literally had to raise my voice and repeat the ingredients more than once. I even asked for the seaweed salad on the side, but she put it inside my bowl. I mean, I don't really mind I was gonna eat it anyway but sometimes I just prefer it on its own. Other than that little hiccup, everything else was great and the vibe was really chill ¿Quieres que le dé un giro más divertido o sarcástico?

I cannot overstate how much I love the temaki bar on Wednesdays. I keep coming back time and time again and bringing more people. The vibes at Rancharrah are 10/10, so nice to sit outside as the sun goes down. The fish is so fresh and yummy. The chefs choice nigiri continues to be my favorite, and the unagi was very good too. The fish is buttery and melty, perfect little pillowy bites. Always one of my favorite sushi experiences in reno!

Fresh tasting fish Nice range of toppings cashier was nice nice drink selection I built my own bowl and was surprised to find that the fried onion topping was like the one you can get at tokyo sushi. They were generous with it too.

Was in the mood for some poke and decided to try this spot in Rancharrah for the first time. The restaurant is very clean inside and there is seating available inside and outside. The woman who helped us wasn't overly friendly, but she did provide some suggestions throughout. The poke itself was delicious- one of the best tasting I've had in a long time. It was fresh and flavorful, and I liked the combination of sauces (I got the Sesame Shoyu and Spicy Mayo and was told that was a popular combination). The fish did not taste fishy at all. Only thing was the avocado was pretty brown. My only criticism is that there is only one size of poke bowl to purchase, and it comes with two proteins. This was about $17, and it's a very large size. I would love a smaller portion (and cheaper) option for one protein. For a mid afternoon snack/late lunch, it's nice to have the option.

Hinoki Poke is easily my favorite poke restaurant in town! Hinoki is a long-standing name in the Reno sushi community and they did not disappoint when they opened Hinoki Poke. You can visit in person and Hinoki Poke is also on DoorDash. The fish and other ingredients is always of the highest quality! Sometimes poke restaurants don't always offer the best cuts of fish, but that is never the case at Hinoki. Their poke bowls are quite large, and I can usually spread it into two meals for myself. You can order from their preset poke menu or create your own bowl, which is always fun! If you are visiting in person, Hinoki Poke is more of a cafeteria-style walk up and build your own bowl type of place. The restaurant has a couple of small dining areas, both indoor and outdoor, or you can take your meal to another vendor at Rancharrah.

TL;DR High grade decadence, delicious sushi in the biggest little city For Reno there are little to no places that truly offer a gourmet dining and educational experience. Which is exactly what this felt like, my first omakase experience which they try to keep as traditional as possible but it obviously has an American twist on it meaning the customer service and the conversations with the chefs, as I understand it in Japan they expect you to not the food and have strict policies but here it's a little more lax and friendly. My wife and I along with 6 of our friends went to experience this decadent and delicious experience, and even though the price was well over 200$ it truly felt unique and special. I definitely felt out of my tax bracket and after asking them many questions about the quality of the fish rest assured you are getting the freshest and the best fish you can get, they even made the Unni (sea urchin) taste delicious and not as gamey as you would think it to be. All in all if you can afford it and treat yourself to an amazing experience do it. The chefs were professional as well as the waitress, much to my surprise but were willing to joke around with you and have wonderful conversations with you. However if you want to act like an eccentric and be silent your entire meal to enjoy all the food that works as well and they will do their best to accommodate you. My recommendation, these people are human too so recognize the effort they put into it and try to be as friendly and appreciative as possible. As I understand it they never try to keep their fish for any longer than a day or 2 before they decide that the quality has gone degraded too much.

    Salmon and Hamachi poke bowl

I went here for the first time after pregnancy. So, my review can be skewed since I couldn't eat raw fish for some time. Overall, the experience was a 10 out of 10. Met up a friend to catch up. Entered the store, and it was super clean, and the staff was so kind. They helped us with our order. They gave us time to look over their menu to build our poke bowl. They made the bowls quickly, and we paid. The inside is a bit small, but the outdoor seating is endless. The complex obviously has lots of outdoor seating. It being a weekday was not as busy, so the options were endless. The bowl looked amazing. I got Hamachi and salmon for my protein with rice as the base. It was super delicious. I will say the spice level was not so spicy. Wish it was, but I had some lemon and ginger to help. I should have asked if they had Wasabi. I think I'll do that to make it even better. Check them out. It was super delicious, and the protein was fresh, just pure perfection. I wish I was better at describing the taste. But I loved it and that's that!

Salmon and scallops with 15 other tasty ingredients

This is absolutely the best poke bowl in Reno. I never even wanted to try poke bowls before, but was hooked once I tasted theirs. The number of ingredients and their fresh quality is amazing. The portions are generous and you can try so many different sauces and toppings. The price is reasonable, and you can get points to redeem as credit on the bill. It's located in the charming Village at Rancharrah. We discovered it when attending the summer concert series.

Very good Poke in a fun location! I got a regular poke bowl. The rice was a touch soggy. And the portion size not as big as poke n go. I did like the number of options though. Will definitely be back

Do you have the option of real wasabi? (I have an allergy to the dyed horseradish "wasabi")

It is real wasabi and he prepares it right in front of you.

    How much for dinner?

    $120

Are reservations required? Also, what are the business hours?

Yes, you must make a reservation. Hinoki O opens up reservation blocks online, and there are typically 2 seatings for dinner. This is a semi private chef's table type dining experience.

We were seated quickly. Now that can be attributed to the fact that we were early for dinner. We opted for a tabled, but there were plenty of seats available at the sushi bar. We only waited for a few minutes before the first wave of fish was delivered. Throughout dinner, we never had to wait long for the sushi to be delivered. The atmosphere was decent. It felt like it was more of a storefront than a traditional restaurant. But, it was a storefront and I don't care about that. I base my rating on freshness, service and cleanliness of the store. One thing that surprised me was the Kani (crab). I ordered it wondering if it would be real crab or imitation. It was real! I was happy and surprised. I ate my fill. Actually, I ate more than my fill. Enjoyed it completely. My sushi coma was justified. Tried about 8 AYCE Sushi places in Reno and I like this place, Ohana, and Tokyo Sushi (probably…read morethe most popular) the best. Appetizers, nigiri, and rolls here are usually a smidge behind Tokyo in variety, taste, and fish to rice ratio on the nigiri, but still very good -- definitely above average. They did dial back the amount of sugar in their rice since the last time I was here. Kudos! The dining experience here is a much more low-stress experience than Tokyo Sushi. There's usually little to no wait unless you're in a large group, as opposed to Tokyo's madhouse that has waits frequently of an hour. Music isn't blasting so you can hear the person at the other side of the table speak, and service is consistently excellent in the relatively small dining room. It's about $4 less expensive with tax and tip then Tokyo also at $42 vs $46 total as of July 2026.
